The Listverse Christmas 2009 Competition is now official closed. The winner will be the person who contributes the list that I feature on the front page of the site on Christmas Day (December 25, 2009). The second place getter will have their list featured on the front page on Christmas Eve (December 24, 2009), and the third place getter will have their list featured on the front page the day before Christmas Eve (December 23, 2009).
All other lists which failed to make the final three will begin appearing on the site after Christmas and will be marked as competition entries. All lists published (except 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize) will be eligible for one of five copies of the Ultimate book of Top 10 Lists. The winners will be announced one week after Christmas.
NOTE: this is a slight change from the original plan in which it was suggested that some of the losing entries might begin appearing before Christmas. The change has been made so that people are not given any hints as to the winning entries. This means that the first list from the competition will appear on the 23rd of December and there will be at least one week of other entries following on from that. This coincides with my brief Christmas vacation (I return to the site on January 2).
Many thanks to all who entered!

I didn’t realise there was a compo xD
@TXPnk (1): @Bill (3): Please stop this first, second etc comment posting.it’s annoying and serves no purpose. I thought Bill’d had better things to do apart from his preacing.
Shet man, I could not submit my list..anyways I’ll submit it later on.I just wanna see it on listverse
I’ve never been this high on the list.
Congrats to any and all winners!
second place getter? Um maybe winner is a better word.
Or runner up.
Awwww i liked the idea of a countdown with the lists. I was looking forward to seeing them for the next 10 days, and now your gonna make me wait!
Shout out to the Catholics with the pic of that Advent Wreath. I’d forgotten about that
Damn. Was hoping to finish up my list over the next two days. Didn’t realize the deadline was looming.
Oh ok, I did submit a list most appropriate BEFORE christmas – so am a little disappointed.
I submitted a list, too, which I am pretty sure will fail to receive any consolation. Mine was the Top 15 Nintendo Characters.
I made a list but it turned out to be so good that I didn’t want to lose my copyrights on it. The first prize was just not worth it.
Haha, what was the title?
How many entries were there and how many were Xmas/Holiday based?
A nice and neat idea:) I really like the way it is done, and how you resume at the end of the year. The whole concept is great, but I do wonder who is the lucky guy.
A lot of people took part in this contest. But just few people get the reward for it. The freelance writer wrote about all people.
