The oldest person alive is Besse Cooper she was born on 26 August 1896.

My two thoughts with supercentenarians is two things and longevity in general is the Advancement of Medical Science and research. And lets not forget Heredity. For example, on my father's side (He being of French-Canadian descent), they seem to live for ever. My Grandmother died at 97, her sister died at 96, my grandfather died at 87 despite smoking 2 packs of non-filtered cigarettes, being overweight and really not taking care of himself. On my mother's side, its simple. None of my mother's sibling nor parents never reached the age of 80. My mother died at only 59.

The Oldest Man Ever has all of these youngsters beat by a mile. His name was Sri Bir Narayan Choudhary, and his age was verified completely by the Nepal Department of Archaeology as 141. Mr. Choudhary's proof consisted of a complicated astrological chart which was prepared at the time of his birth. That was the custom for high-caste babies born where he was, on the Nepal-India border in the mid-19th Century. I was the last person to film this amazing super-centenarian and am going to release the footage in June of 2012 here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ambassador/the-dog-in-the-clouds-multimedia-e-book-dog-memoir
