My first trip to Las Vegas was an education. It is a different world. You eventually notice most of the points mentioned but some additional things stick in my mind, such as gaming machines at the airport so you can play soon as you arrive, and bingo-like games on screen at breakfast time, and the fact that hotel rooms and meals are so cheap and good value.

I like your statement about comparing the casino experience to a movie, but it would have to be a pretty expensive movie for that to be true. I can take my wife out to the movie for about $30 including a drink and popcorn for both of us. But that amount of money won’t last long in a casino. I tried to equate my losses to a nice dinner out or a night’s stay in a nice hotel, but I was just kidding myself.

I have grown tired of casinos. For the last 15 years, I have gone three, maybe four times a year. The lights, the ambiance, the chance that I might actually win a jackpot made my vacations to casinos exciting and were some of the best times ever. But recently I have just become tired of the whole thing. I never win anymore — and I mean nothing. I realize it’s just a losing proposition. People tell me that it’s not the winning but the playing that makes it fun. But it’s lost all it’s glamor as far as I’m concerned. One casino is the same as all the others — though some are dirtier and obviously lower scale than others. It’s time for me to cut the cord.

Really enjoyed this article! I found half of the statements to be true after you began to think about it. I’m planning a trip to Vegas this summer and two of my cousins are accompanying me. They’ve really never been to a casino before and I will definately show them this article…and it will help enforce the saying of

Jaz, that’s an urban legend. Casinos don’t do that. Google “casinos oxygen” and check the numerous articles about that.

None of these things will keep me in a casino. You will have to pay me to even go inside. And to keep me there you will have to drug me and tie me up.
