If the list was top 10 greatest firearm designs I can see the AK being one of them. But you cannot accredit the AK's design to just one man. Kalashnikov was given the credit, but he didn't design the rifle by himself.

Wait...just read this list. Good information on the makers, although judging from the masses it may have been more suitable to have made it a top 20 list. As a master gunsmith I noticed a few errors, which is to be expected. But one made me laugh. So in the portion listed about the mausers' and their rifles, it was noted that the action is strong enough to handle the .700 NE, and kudos. One manufacturer, Heym, makes a modified Mauser style action to fit such a cartridge. Not too many know that. However the .700 was designed to flip a charging bull elephant...huh? It was designed as a matter that Holland and Holland had just made their last .600NE, and a wealthy, determined gentleman decided to design the .700 for H&H to produce. Now mere physics come into play. A 1000gr bullet moving at 2000fps (typical load for regulated double rifles) produced 8900ft/lbs of energy. And this is supposed to flip a bull elephant weighing 15k-20k pounds? Nope. Maybe if both barrels are fired together, which would be highly dangerous to the shooter, possibly destroy the firearm and be an utter waste.

This could be called "The biased and poorly researched list of mostly American designers, written by an American".

Seriously now, Garand, Williams and Thompson shouldn't be on this list, the Mausers (nearly every bolt action rifle sold today either is a system 98 or is a modification or enhancement of said system) should be far beyond Henry (Lever-actions are a nearly purely American thing, didn't gain much popularity elsewhere... for obvious reasons).

Christ, I think I'll write a top ten list of biased and poorly researched top ten lists written by Americans.

The stg 44 was invented by Cg waffen for the Nazis in ww2 after the war the Russians captured him and miraculously the ak47 was invented- stolen from his design. I am an owner of an ak, not to take away from it's legacy but I also believe in giving credit where credit is due
