I agree that ignorant and blind followers of religion have caused wars. This list is proof that religion is not the sole motivator behind the atrocities committed by mankind. Atheists are quick to point out the foibles of the religious, yet they are reluctant to admit their contributions to their fellow man or the sins of their own kind.

Um… Kim Jong Il wasn’t an Atheist. He believed he was a god, and his people worshiped him like one. Even a belief that oneself is a god, would be impossible for an atheist. Atheists don’t believe in any supernatural phenomenon/deities. So… Kim Jong Il wasn’t an Atheist.

I really think the title fits. If you’re not atheist, then you believe in a some form of higher power. Most people with a higher power think that being atheist isn’t the best choice. Seeing this list of really evil atheist reaffirms their thoughts. Therefore it’s giving atheism a bad name. Of course atheist will be offended as well as the none terrorist muslim, or any other religious person who isn’t doing bad things in the name of who or what they do/don’t believe in.

no thats not what is being said. you cant find 1 example of someone who did something in the name of atheism but one can for religion. remember one is based around statements made up by man..atheism has nothing written anywhere that atheists hold onto. We are not lumping all christians by sayiong christianity does bad things because it does!!!

Kinsey was not a child-molester. He was a great scientist and his research is still valuable to sociologists world-wide. Those who oppose him do so out of moral grievance, not scientific critique.

Mussolini was not an atheist. Yes, as a young man he rejected catholicism, but when he came to power he embraced the catholic church with fervor. Also, he _never_ publicly rejected the notion of the existence of a god (i.e. Atheism); only his dislike for religion.

Finally: Hitler was a staunch catholic. Where christian apologists, like the ***** who made this list, get ***** like that from; I do not know.

Actually Adolf Hitler was a catholic. He specifically stated in Mein Kampf his belief that murdering Jews, gypsies, the disabled, and homo*****uals to be a divine duty to God. Most Christians, like myself, however, believe that Hitler was totally misguided in his thinking.
