I’ll just say that it was Augustus Caesar who formed the Roman Empire and not Julius Caesar, who was fine with the title of Imperator and Dictator for Life.

big fan of Majorian and Heraclius as they were very successful during times of certain defeat. But I was always more fond of those who gave it their all when surrounded by insurmountable corruption. Some of the people on this list were the source of corruption in contrast. At least that’s my opinion.

Correct but with a caveat. He deafeated the Goths with ease while being hugely outnumbered. Caveat because the Goths thought they were just carrying on the Roman Empire in the west and are being invaded by those from the east.
Question is who was a western Roman? The Goths were living Italy and elsewhere in the Empire for sometime and many were citizens.

The citizens in Italia loved and mixed with the Goths in reality , much better than being ruled by the Romans. Justinain then just carried out the worse invasion of Italy ever. It took Italy 200 years to recover economically from his destruction.

So when did the western Empire end? In Italy the Gothic king was the Emperor, so he thought. Just not sure what that makes Justinian. He crushed Italic,Latin and others with huge destruction.

General Drusus…He made mincemeat of the Germans with horrible ease. The Germans displayed huge acts of cowrdice going against him. Running in terror after being anhilated …many just running up trees and begging for theit lives, I reality..this is set yo Varus, who thought the Geramns were just horrible fighters. However, in an ambush and outnumbered by at leat 10 to 1 the Germans fought better. Even in the ambush they were afarid to meet the Romans head on and just lobbed volleys of arrows and spears for much of the time.
General Drusus was not Varus and he was so effective aginst the Geramns, even more so than Germanicus!

Interesting list, but 2 obvious names are missing : Germanicus and Varus (who, even if he was defeated at famous battle of Teutoburg, was a great general).
There is a mistake : Flavius Aetius was not Before Christ (BC) but…After (AD).
