Brief Update

Due to recent changes on the site it is necessary for me to post an brief update.
1. Staff and List Payments
In my last update I requested assistance for list writing over the Christmas period - I received many emails - thanks. Having gone over the site budget, the cost of paying someone for regular daily contributions (combined with the removal of two of our advertisers from the site) means that we can not pay for other submitted lists. I hope that this will not prevent people from sending in lists as we often get excellent ones from new people or those who like to write one or two from time to time. All lists submitted prior to today will be paid for as usual.
Remember: We still want people to send in lists and we will publish as many as possible for everyone to enjoy. The contribute page will be updated today to reflect this change and to clarify some guidelines.
2. Advertisers
You may have noticed that one of the adverts has been removed from the site, and all inbuilt amazon text links have been removed. I have also modified some of the remaining adverts to remove javascript from them - this means they no longer have an impact on the speed of the site loading but they will also be seen by fewer people. This obviously means a reduction in income for the site (hence point 1 above).
3. Downtime
In about five days we will be doubling our capacity (we will be moving to dual servers) - this should put an end to the outages we have been experiencing recently. Thanks for your patience through it all!

I love that even your update is in list form! Believe me when I say this: I don’t ever, ever donate to sites that don’t require a fee to use, but I am going to donate to you, because your site is so entertaining (and educational to boot)! So, enough of this rambling- I will let my money speak for me now. Thanks again, jfrater, for the endless hours of good reading and thought provoking lists you provide here.

i agree with jfrater, i am obsessed with this site! it is very interesting and educational

the changes are perfectly understandable. my concern is that J not become overwhelmed w/ the real work that goes into writing lists or by the financial burden. having attempted to write original lists myself..i know only too well how difficult a task it really is, which is all the more reason to congratulate folks who have submitted lists. i hope people continue to do so to support listverse and simply for bragging rights! and just remember the gift giving season is fast upon us, so why not gift listverse to show your support and help maintain the site that so many of you have apparently become addicted to…LOL. listverse is habit forming, ya know. thank goodness! and it is all a part of the plan for listverse to conquer the internets…*insert wicked laugh*

I’ve been a lurker for quite awhile, reading the site (many times) daily, enjoying the lists and the discussions after. I agree with Cyn - those of us who regularly enjoy this site, if possible, should should also make a donation as well as supply lists. Just my opinion. Good work, Jamie.

I am working on a few lists myself, hopefully they’ll be good enough to post–and I would donate to the site, but I am financially unstable at this time. xD Sorry J. Soon though!

Jamie, I’m currently working on another list, which I look forward to submitting. But, I just have the problem of condensing it to a reasonable number (It’s currently at 70!). However, once solved, I will gladly send it to you on one condition - that you will fix my Monty Python list. (number four should be Spanish Inquisition; a nitpicking craw in my side)
