Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that I will be appearing on BBC Radio Scotland at 10:15 (GMT) on Wednesday Morning. The topic is on lists and there will also be a psychologist speaking about the psychology of list writing and writers.
If you are near a radio at the time, be sure to listen in! I will try to secure a recording of the session afterwards for posting here. The show I will be on is called MacAulay and Co. You can listen via their website the day after each episode – so if you can’t hear it on the radio, listen on Thursday by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.
Wish me luck!

Definitely gonna be listening out for that!
Definitely gonna be listening out for that! That’s awesome you’re getting word about listverse out like that!
Good Luck! I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about lists.
Woot Woot!!!! Too cool. I can’t wait to hear it.
I can’t either jwjw
Other end of the island from me so unfortunately I won’t be able to pick it up. Fred MacAulay is quite a funny guy. Best of luck.
That’s awesome! Can’t wait to hear you.
Good luck Jamie. I think I’m a little far away to tune in
but will definitely look forward to hearing it later.
cool! J the radio star. oh yeah and LV too.
Seriously? Jamie has a voice? ;D I’ll have to tune in on Thursday, because I don’t think I get that station down here in Texas. ^-^
What time is that American CST? I think I won’t hear it live. Break a leg!! Our hearts are with you.
Hey that’s awesome! Good luck
Congratulations Jamie. Unfortunately I will not be up at 5 in the morning, but look forward to listening as soon as you can post it.
Make us proud!
good luck. im not sure with the time difference if ill be willing to listen. haha =D
Good you have a face for radio, kidding, you’re a handsome guy
congrats, can’t wait to hear it
good on ya’ Jamie, cant wait to here the psychologist speaking about the psychology of list writing and writers.
Me thinks a new disorder may be coined that day “Listversitis”, it might be the only positive disorder you’d want to have
CRSN: Yes. Sort of. Listversitis would actually mean suffering from an inflamed Listverse. A common condition round here.
not long till the radio starts!
Heh… lots of people are going to think Kiwis sound like English now – jfrater has a bit of a British accent
Tempyra: I bet you not many brits would think so
jfrater: That’s true… but the British are a minority
Cool interview. I laughed when the psych guy talked about the lists of obsessive compulsives (1 Check the door. 2 Check the door. 3 Check the door)
Tempyra: yeah – he was funny for an old guy
Well good
First Scotland, then the world!
Congrats, man! I’ll be listening in!
jfrater: Hey! Old people are the probably the funniest of all people
Good luck Jfrater, make us listversers proud
Jamie – I’ll give you a dollar if you mention me. I’ll give you two dollars if you call the psychologist retarted.
Oh man damn,,,,
i live in middle east, UAE, i wanted to listen to you!
I missed a great chance
Make us proud Jamie! and don’t screw it up! no pressure though….
bucslim: too late – it was last night
I would have if I had known that – especially considering he virtually called me paranoid!
Jamie – sheesh, foiled by the international date line! That’s the second time I’ve fell for that this month.
Drat! I missed it too, because I live in America.
Did you get a transcript? You could post that, at least. We might not get to hear your voice, but we could still get the sense of the show!
BTW, my gmail, the latest version, as is my Firefox (I check all software updates daily…call me weird)has been off almost all day. It’s still off.
The recording of the show is available at the link in the article above. Enjoy!
I knew incredible recordings was your favorite list jfrater
You didn’t have much of an accent though.
Nah just kidding.
When talking about the educational lists you should have also mentioned the cooking lists. And that your mum even wrote one. But you do “whatever you want everyday”.
Wow, thats amazing
i didnt know we had so many readers, did they request for you to come on or what? big congrats btw.
Too bad I won’t be able to hear it. I’d like to know what a New Zealand/British accent sounds like. (haha)
but Congratulations!
bucslim (27) You did it to me again! I’m still in the LIBRARY. But honestly, that time that kid wrote “retarted” was hilarious. Who put the spin on it? Was it you? “Ooh that pop-tart was so good I’m going to get retarted” (something like that)
I just listened to the radio show. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00cvb7m
The psychologist I thought was kind of a jerk he also hinted that a person who writes lists could have OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) I guess he was referring to people that write lists to go about their daily activity. I think he missed the whole point of the website. He also scoffed at the notion that there is any value to lists! I mean com on I have learned so much from this web site.
By the way Jamie, you did a good job with the interview.
Blogball: thanks
I also found the psychologist to be rather pretentious.
For those of us with limited time or an adversion to endless banter in Scottish – Jamie’s spot is from 33 – 38 minutes of the show.
Rusty ~ Thank you so much!
I am currently encoding Jamie’s slot to a short MP3 – with his permission i will upload and post it once done.
Jamie has Oked it so here is the link : http://listverse.com/radio_scotland_jfrater_interview.mp3 – 8.5mb – enjoy
Geraint -
thank you so much! finally, was able to hear the whole thing.
J – i think you came off well even though the hosts seemed to hog the interview. wish they’d stopped w/ all their chatter and allowed you a bit more time to speak. still.. good bit of international advertising for the site. so good deal! hopefully be more like it in the future.
I agree, Cyn. I actually think they were pretty rude and dismissive of site, which I’m sure they would enjoy if they spent any time here.
rushfan -
indeed
J has made mention of having podcasts so maybe he’ll give that a shot. showcase the site and/or a list. *hint hint*
Thank you Geraint. Most appreciated. I agree Jamie was great (nice voice btw) and the host was *****ty; dismissive and overbearing. Oh well, not everyone is perceptive and intelligent enough to see the merit of Lv.
Hey Jamie I just knew that you are an opera singer and composer!! Guess Im the last person to know it in this site heheehe..
Keeping up with singing and websiting, u are just great..
Awesome work, Jamie! Keep it up. Publish more lists! This is my favorite site.
I don’t think the hosts really read the site at all. Every list that they mentioned were straight off the front page. I doubt they even read the lists they mentioned. It is tough to have an interview with someone who didn’t really do their research. Jamie, you did a great job.
Great job at keeping your cool and composure Jamie, even though I’m sure they were starting to burst your bubble. Anywho, that psychologist did not know what he was taking about, they pretty much all came across as rude and a smudge condescending.
You did very well, again congratulations on getting the site some exposure.
Awesome job Jaime and keep up the good work!
Heh, just listened to the show. I thought it was excellent, and that the banter was fun.
You did superbly, Jamie
kiwiboi: thanks
hopefully we will get a few new visitors from it!
Wow! Jamie, you were great, good job biting your tongue with those pricks.
Very nice voice btw.
Nice interview, well it was nice hearing about the site from yourself. Those presenters *****ed me off no end though.
I’m not entirely sure whether this is a compliment or not XD but you sound a lot less ‘geeky’ than I though you may be.
I enjoyed it nonetheless though.
Thanks for the compliments guys
I will definitely make sure I am sent a list of questions/topics in future!
Just saw it on BBC TV here in Canada
