The National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi party) is one of the most infamous political systems in the history of the earth, made famous by their severe acts of cruelty and completely inhuman behavior. Despite that, the Nazi government implemented a number of policies which were for the good of their people and those of the future; many of these policies are now implemented by our own governments.
Please note: this list is NOT an endorsement of the Nazi regime which is, clearly, one of the most evil in history – second only to Stalinist Russia. This list hopefully shows that even amidst great evil, the good of man is still able to shine through. This list is an homage to those men and women living in Nazi Germany who were able to make change for good whilst living under a severely corrupt and wrong regime.

Nazi Germany was the first country to ban vivisection in the world, enacting a total ban in April 1933. The measure to ban vivisection was a huge concern and was put forth to the Reichstag as early as 1927. High ranking Nazis such as Hermann Goring, Heinrich Himmler and Adolf Hitler were very concerned about animal conservation, particularly pertaining as to how animals were butchered. Most current laws in Germany, and indeed the world, are derived from the laws put forth by the Nazi Party. This is, obviously, incredibly ironic as while on the one hand they defended the lives of brute animals, whilst on the other hand cruelly slaughtered Catholics, homosexuals, gypsies, and jews.
Hermann Goring, who was established as the Prime Minister of Prussia, had this to say:
“An absolute and permanent ban on vivisection is not only a necessary law to protect animals and to show sympathy with their pain, but it is also a law for humanity itself…. I have therefore announced the immediate prohibition of vivisection and have made the practice a punishable offense in Prussia.
Until such time as punishment is pronounced the culprit shall be lodged in a concentration camp.”
The above picture is a cartoon showing animals saved from vivisection saluting Hermann Goring. The sign in the window says “Vivisection Forbidden”.

When the Nazis came to power in 1933, their concerns not only laid with the people, but with the animals native to Germany. In 1934, a national hunting law was passed to regulate how many animals could be killed per year, and to establish proper ‘hunting seasons’. These hunting laws have now been applied in most western countries.
This law was known as Das Reichsjagdgesetz, the Reich Hunting Law. The Reichstag also footed the bill for education on animal conservation at Primary, Secondary and College levels. Additionally, in 1935, another law was passed, the Reichsnaturschutzgesetz (Reich Nature Protection Act). This law placed several native species on a protection list including the wolf and Eurasian lynx. Additions were added later as to afforestation and the humane slaughter of living fish.
Without this law it is likely some species would have completely disappeared from Germany’s forests.

It is rumored that Adolf Hitler was so opposed to smoking in his later life that he couldn’t stand someone lighting up in the same room, and often felt obligated to object to it as a waste of money. Thus, he began one of the most expensive and effective tobacco movements throughout history. While during the 1930s and 1940s, other anti-tobacco movements failed fantastically in other countries, it was taken seriously in Nazi Germany.
The Nazis banned smoking in restaurants and public transportation systems, citing public health, and severely regulated the advertising of smoking and cigarettes. There was also a high tobacco tax, and the supplies of cigarettes to the Wehrmacht were rationed. Several health organizations in Nazi Germany even began claiming that smoking heightened the risks of miscarriages by pregnant women, now a commonly known fact.
The statistics of annual cigarette consumption per capita as of 1940 had Germany at only 749, while Americans smoked over 3,000.
The picture above says “He does not devour it, it [the cigarette] devours him!”

Nazi Germany had one of the largest public welfare programs in history, based on the philosophy that all Germans should share a standard of living.
One of the most famous of these was the Winter Relief program, where high ranking Nazis and common citizens both took to the streets to collect charity for the unfortunate. This was not only an extremely intelligent propaganda move, but also a ritual to generate general good public feeling toward those in need. Posters urged people to donate rather than give directly to beggars. Joseph Goebbels, himself a high ranking Nazi in control of Radio, Television and Propaganda, often participated in these events.
But how was the cost of this met? Largely from the stealing of belongings from those people considered enemies of the regime. The Nazi government stole immense amounts of money from their population and used it to fund a social welfare scheme that favored select members of society. Modern schemes modeled on this system are funded by taxes that steal from everyone.
Pictured above is a canister used for the Winter Relief Fund effort.

Literally meaning “People’s Car”, this vehicle was presented as a car that every German citizen could afford to buy. It was based on the advice of Hitler to the designer, saying that it should resemble a beetle. The car was a huge success (it was made available to citizens of the Third Reich through a savings scheme at 990 Reichsmark, about the price of a small motorcycle), but toward the end of the war resources were low and public availability declined. The Volkswagen emerged more as a military vehicle toward the end of the Third Reich.
However this has not stopped it from being one of the most popular vehicles in the world, known for reliability, stylish design (though some might question that!) and ease of use.

While not originally conceived by the Nazis, Hitler was an enthusiastic supporter of the idea and pushed for the largest network of roads to be built across Germany. Established as the first freeway system in the world, the autobahn was a revolutionary feat of engineering that forever changed the way humans travel. Thousands of countries have emulated the system Hitler put in place, including America and Britain. It is single handedly the largest network of roadways in the world, with roads stretching all across the country, even to other countries such as Austria.
The construction of this roadway wasn’t only revolutionary in itself, it provided over 100,000 workers with jobs necessary for the economic recovery efforts. It was a goal of the Nazi party to try and bring the country into a sense of unity through the roadway system, and for the most part it was successful. Aircraft was tested on the long, smooth, straight sections of road and Grand Prix racing teams are known to practice on them.

The man who invented rockets as we know them today, Wernher Von Braun, was a member of the Nazi party and commissioned Schutzstaffel Officer. He aided both Germany and the United States in the use of rockets during and after WW2, and eventually became a naturalized U.S. Citizen.
Although he pioneered many areas, including the installation of liquid-fueled rockets in aircraft and orbit to ground missiles, he is best known for his achievements in NASA.
His best achievement there was undoubtedly the development of the Saturn V booster rocket, that helped man to finally touch the moon, in July 1969. Von Braun officially opened the gate to space travel through his innovative inventions…as well as creating one of the most destructive methods of war known to mankind.

The Nazis were very interested in both film and music as propaganda techniques and essential cultural pillars. The first known magnetic tape recording was of a speech made by Hitler, and Joseph Goebbels pushed for more complicated methods of filming.
For example, the propaganda film ‘Triumph of the Will’, the sequel to the former propaganda film ‘Triumph of the Faith’, is regarded as one of the most important pieces of cinematographic history. The director, Leini Riefenstahl (pictured above) used an astounding thirty film cameras and over one hundred technicians to produce the two hour film. Since Triumph of the Will had an unlimited budget, the latest technologies were used. Cranes and track-rail filming were used, techniques still used today to make a smooth ‘traveling’ effect.
Ultimately, the propaganda films are dead, but the techniques developed at the time are seen regularly in the latest great Hollywood blockbusters.

The Nazi style of uniform was as bold as their style of government. Thick-soled leather boots, slouch hats, cowhide coats, and peak hats were some of the staples in Nazi fashion, as well as muted color tones often in gray, tan and black. The SS Panzer military organization struck fear into the hearts of their adversaries, with black forage caps and leather coats which were later adopted by American rockers. Doc Martens closely resemble the jump boots that many Schutzstaffel officers wore. Look around at any rock, industrial or otherwise ‘edgy’ group and you see small traces of Nazi fashion sense. The American novelist Kurt Vonnegut once described the style as ‘mildly theatrical’.
Additionally, the founder of Adidas, Adolf Dassler (whose nickname was Adi), was a Nazi. He produced shoes for the Wehrmacht during the war, as well was providing American and Nazi athletes with his footwear during the Berlin Olympics. This created national acclaim when Jesse Owens won the sprinting event at the Berlin Olympics wearing Adolf Dassler’s shoes. Adidas is now a multinational company, supplying athletes all over the world with a supply of footwear and sports accessories.
His brother, Rudolf Dassler, was the more ardent Nazi of the two brothers and went on to found another proficient sports company…Puma. Oh – and Hugo Boss was a Nazi who, from 1934, was an official supplier of uniforms to the SA, SS, Hitler Youth, NSKK and other Party organizations (as evidenced in the advertisement above).

The death of ethics from medicine in Nazi Germany was a sinful, reckless, and dangerous decision, leading to untold atrocities; it has created one of the most extensive ethical controversies in history. Through the Nazi use of torture they discovered information that is discretely used by doctors and medical scientists today. For example, the Nazis extensively studied and monitored hypothermia, at Dachau concentration camp, by subjecting victims to severe torture. The Nazis immersed victims in vats of freezing water or left them out in the winter cold, all the while monitoring changes in body temperature, heart rate, muscle responses and urine. These tests were initially performed on volunteer soldiers, but the Nazis were not satisfied that they had all the information they could get and began to test on concentration camp victims. They attempted to formulate methods to bring the bodies back to a safe temperature, including the “Rapid Active Rewarming” technique that seemed to be the most effective method of revival – and is used today in the west. This research could potentially fill a gap in other researchers studying hypothermia.
A fascinating and extensive article on the ethics involved can be found here.

the worst delusions can still provide roots to some good.
Interesting & provocative list, however some people will always fail to see any “good” side to the Nazis. You’re right about their evil outweighing any good done by them, but there’s going to be a *****load of comments.
I suspect so – but hopefully not too heated! When dealing with subjects like this objective debate is essential.
Agreed. You can’t look at it like “Was what the Nazis did about this right?” because just associating something with the Nazis is way too loaded to garner any civil conversation. You need to take each situation as it is, regardless of who conducted it.
For example, I don’t think human experimentation is right in any capacity (except volunteering, I suppose) regardless of the potential gains because I believe that it violates some sort of inalienable human right to life. The fact that the catalyst for this topic was the Nazis is irrelevant.
I agree with one caveat – no experimentation (even voluntary) which can potentially lead to death is acceptable.
Fair enough. Why are you opposed to potential death if it’s voluntary? Do you think that anyone who would agree to that probably isn’t of right mind to be deciding that for themselves?
Then you’ll have to include any pilot or astronaut who pushed the envelope of aviation technology willing to die for the sake of human achievement and exploration.
Hi, I read the post with truly interest. There´s any bibliography you know on the subject? such as Nazis laws or so? Thanks
o oh.. I smell some racy comment coming up in a while plus hundred of replies from Nazi haters hahaha..
Oh and don’t forget the comments from the Nazi defenders – they always pop up too.
And perhaps we’ll come across the elusive “the holocaust never happened” nutjobs.
Haha, I hadn’t heard anyone say the holocaust never happened in a serious manner, it’ll be interesting if someone actually does post on here with that argument.
I can’t see how anyone can delude themselves into believing that, especially considering the mountain of evidence showing what happened.
Holocaust neva happened
Just where is this evidence? Actually there is little evidence supporting the claims of the juden. Look at what patton had to say before he was subdued.
Churchhill’s six volume set of his cronicles of WWII, never once mentions any holocaust. Same with the red cross, who was in Germany the whole war, their estimate of all camp deaths were around 300,000. Now they make laws taking peoples freedom for expressing doubt about the official story. here’s a great quote, “Never trust a man or religion who is afraid of the truth. Because truth will remain truth under any circumstances.
The Holocaust did happen, but you’re a fool to think that the perported numbers of deaths aren’t grossly inflated. First it was 4 million, then years later changed to 6 million, even reaching a count of 11 million dead — quite the inconsistancy.
Sorry, it was a terrible tragedy but I highly doubt that any of those numbers are anywhere near accurate.
In addition, it’s always bothered me that the Holocaust is primarily associated with the Jews solely — many other minority groups were persecuted by the Nazis and yet they don’t complain about it unendingly.
In Nuremburg after the war they tried the twenty or so top surviving nazi’s. Their defences were numerous and varied, but none tried to use the defence “It didn’t happen.” You’d think if it hadn’t happened some of them may have denied the charges rather than offering weak excuses such as following orders or even worse, defending the ideology?? Nuremburg is 100% proof of what happened and anyone who argues it is an idiot. ’nuff said.
Those guys are retarded.
im just surprised that less people know of a genocide that was far worse
hitler was quoted as saying “Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”
You are quite right sir. The reason why there cannot be a positive side to any aspect of the third reich is that each and every bit of its actions and politics where determined-to-the-bone by their anti-humanist and anti-semitist Herrenrasse ideology, especially the more social aspects listed here. Motivations and events in history are always intertwined and interdependent, so in that way, it does not make sense to look at an isolated aspect and try and find a good side to it. These things can only be understood in proper context, espacially when it comes to National Socialism. There is no rational or philosophically consitsent way to turn the catastrophy of Nazism into positive light. Those who are challenged by these statements I would strongly advise to get familiar with the post-WW2 german philosophy and political philsophy releases.
There’s a criminal in my country who sodomized many homeless young boys aging 7-14. On the other side, he took care of them. Good of a man?
What the ***** are you talking about? Even if he gave them a million dollars and a pony, he still rapes children. Ofcourse he’s not a good man.
Lol if he gave me a million dollars and a pony he can do whatever he wants to me
Cause then after one time and I get my money I can just have him arrested and I get to keep leh Pony and leh money
correct. Good point.
Great list
Alarming!
Why is it alarming?
Sorry, but how is torturing people “getting it right”, even if they gained some medical advance. And what sort of people feel its ok to do medical experiments on people but not animals? The Nazis got it wrong.
Yeah. It’s an interesting ethical debate. Do the ends justify the means?
Torturing people wasn’t on the list. Medical Advances was. Are you opposed to medical advances?
yes torturing was not on the list….however the means by which these medical advances were achieved does not translate into the nazis getting it right….before anyone argues that the end justified the means just imagine if you were the person being experimented on…….would you care about those medical advances then?
Totalitarian and Socialist governments like the Nazis don’t care about the individual and will always sacrifice the minority for their own ends. Warning!!! When America falls to the Socialists there will be no end to the inhumanity of man. The unholy union of Islamo-Socialists will be the most bloody and repressive regime the world has ever seen.
OK, tell me that I’m a paranoid fool. But Remember my words when you are reading the Quran and naming all your children Muhammad.
Ummmm….just when is all of this supposed to happen? Have you ever servered in the military? I have and have been to countries where I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy to live in(well….) The U.S. is the greatest country in the world. Even some of my “conservative” friends see that and admit it. Go to North Korea or Sudan you’d be BEGGING for Obama. Plus I don’t what being Muslim has to do with anything. Some of the most racist groups out there claim to be “Christian”. The Klan,Christian Identity, etc.
You’re a racist retard. Do you really think *****ing muslims want to take over the united states? Islam is a religion, not an orginization bent on world domination, you idiot. And on what do you base this exactly, besides your racist paranoid views of the world? You are too stupid for words, i’m honestly having trouble finding words to explain how stupid you are.
He bases it on the Quran itself Bob. I will give you one of the MILDER quotes:
Sura 61:9
He it is Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islamic monotheism) to make it victorious over all (other) religions even though the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah and His Messenger Muhammad) hate (it).
And Bob, if you are too stupid to read something, dont make yourself more of a fool trying to defend it. By the way Islam is a religion, not a race.
Nazism was brought to power by contributions from corporations such as IG Farben and Krupp; fascism is a form of capitalism.
Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, the policies of Churchill (Bengali famine 1943) and, earlier, the king of Belgium in 1880-1920 (the rape of the Congo), among many others, were killing millions. The difference is that the victims of capitalism in their millions were primarily non-white, and their deaths are not in any capitalistic history books such as those of the US. Look up the bombardment of Damascus by the French in 1926 or the invasion of the Phillipines by the US in 1901 if you want to un-skew your view of world history and begin to form a balanced view of the relative atrocities of Christians, Muslims, socialists, capitalists (in all their forms — US, Nazi, Brit imperialist, etc.).
@ alfred rosenberg — the quotation from the Qu’ran is fair enough, but I remind you that there are passages from Leviticus and Deuteronomy, beloved of many adherents of the Christian faith, that make accounts from Auschwitz sound like a day at day-care.
“The unholy union of Islamo-Socialists will be the most bloody and repressive regime the world has ever seen.”
You sir are an idiot.
Go read the Koran, then go read up one a definition of socialism.
Then see a definition of nationalism.
You’ll find NATIONAL SOCIALISM is what we all want.
Hope it wont get that bad as it would have in Christ regime.
It is a religion which spread throughout the world with Iron Headed Violence.
Any denials?…
Sorry, but you ARE a paranoid fool. While some of our civil liberties may be trampled upon from time to time we will remain a heavily armed capitalist country.
You are right in the sense that torturous experiments are ethically wrong – I think more to the point of this list is the question of whether it is ethical to use the research for the betterment of modern medicine.
Perhaps I’ve got hung up on the title, and putting medical experiments on humans at number one sure got me riled up. Very interesting debate though. There always seems to be a lot of people who seem to think its important to see the positive side of the Nazis…
Hi, Rob.
This is an interesting point: Why are there those who seek to put a positive light on what the Nazis did? It’s curious, isn’t it? As if the items named in this top-ten list, somehow, will provide a more balanced account of the Third Reich? I really and truly don’t get it. “Hitler was a vegetarian who loved his dog!” Yeah, so? :/
Why are there those who try to claim the Nazis were pure evil?
People use this to excuse their own behavior. “I might be bad but at least I don’t kill Jews!” The Nazis had these excuses and justifications. I might kill Jews but at least I don’t kill animals!” We need to rid ourselves of relative morality and judge ourselves absolutely.
This may veer towards off-topic, but let me throw one explanation out there.
Americans have watched the US get into one war after the other (Iraq, Afghanistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, maybe Syria next?) as the MSM rationalizes and defends the whole way, and each time, it turns out that everything was different from what the MSM says it was at the time.
After watching this happen a few times (older people will recollect the way the Viet-Nam War was packaged and sold back in the day) many people begin to suspect that they really shouldn’t trust everything they hear, and at this point, they seek to test the beliefs they were fed in their tender years. All this revisionism, Nazi or otherwise, is just a natural human desire to test and verify the tenets of one’s world-view so one can separate the reliable data from the MSM/indoctrination BS that pounds them every day. The longer the experience of being brainwashed and duped, the deeper the scepticism of all official-sounding gate-kept doctrines grows.
I think the real question here is, is it ethical to use torturous experiments that are ethically wrong on humans, on animals? The Nazi’s didn’t think so.
Bob
If there is a tard here, its you…… “Islam is a religion, not an orginization bent on world domination??? Huh….?? WTF are you talking about. THAT IS EXACTLY what there goal is. Islam is a RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL IDEOLOGY. They don’t deny that……why are YOU, besides the fact that you are a parrot repeating any liberal bull you here. Read, do research. The number one MAIN goal of islam is world domination. This is as much a fact as water running down hill……here’s one that wouln’t have survived Hilters medical “advances”
Well if you could smell the truth it would smell like terror , stale bloody ***** and burned rhesus monkey . Id feel less guilty if we experimented on humans ,at least humans have done something to deserve it. Monkeys just play and be cool, humans should know better, humans are cruel .
hmm – you can’t really say that humans – as a whole – have, as a united front, done a thing which makes experimentation on individuals acceptable.
Yeah not random experimentation on civilians , but we can ,say, just go down a list of ***** offenders , serial killers and even(if we lucky) the production team behind the Australian TV drama ” neighbors” .
dont talk ***** about neighbours!
So because somebody has done something to someone, it’s okay to do it back to them? Ever heard of the phrase an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind?
What about religion? No greater evil was brought to the earth. Judging by the standards being discussed here and in your article. If someone that is twisted and evil can’t be accepted for their good side, what is the excuse of religion? The bad side is much worse than the good.
What about religion? That should count. Nothing is more evil. The only reason that it is not seen that way is because too many have been indoctrinated and believe zealously in the illogical.
Monkeys, in this case Chimps, do not ‘just play and be cool’, they’re vicious animals who given the right circumstances will brutally murder each . . .
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37830165/ns/technology_and_science-science/
. . . Dolphins are bullys as well and do not live permanently leaping out the ocean in front of rainbows. We’re all animals baby!
Some species of chimps have been found to be carnivorous, and I’ve also seen a documentary where a female monkey killed the baby monkey of another female out of jealousy, or possibly to prevent new competition.
I meant to say cannibalistic, not carnivourous.
Infanticide is actually very common among primates (and many other animals), but it is usually done by males. When a new male defeats the previous leader and wins himself a harem of females, he will often kill any existing infants to cause the females to stop lactating and go into estrus (thus ensuring that he can pass on his own genes and eliminate those of the previous male(s)). But infanticide by a female is not a common or, I suspect, a normal thing.
Well, check some other lists in here or books and learn how many other medical advances were made by torturing and murdering people. And they were not made by the Nazis. Human nature…And power
How come only the Nazis get crap for experimenting on people, even if it caused medical advances? Does noone take into consideration the psychological experimentation done in American Sanitariums and the horrible treatments and experiments done to Americans by Americans for Tuberculosis? Bad things sometimes happen to open the door to realizations. Get over it. Whatever happened, happened.
I’ve gathered from the entries that when you say “vivisection,” you mean as it pertains to animals. But since the Nazi surgeons conducted such unethical (partially outlined in entry #1) experiments on humans (and since “vivicection” can apply to human experimentation also), I’m not sure we can chalk up “banning vivisection” as a win for the party. Otherwise, very interesting list.
Ironic that Adi Dassler gave Owens the shoes that defied Hitler at the ’36 games.
You are right – it pertains entirely to animals. That is one of the ironies of the Nazi party (and, unfortunately some in modern society – namely some animal rights activists) that they protected the rights of animals but didn’t care at all about the rights of humans who are essentially animals – albeit rational ones.
It is not entirely unlike the situation of some extremist anti-abortion protesters who murder abortionists. They consider abortion to be the unjust taking of a human life but have no qualms about unjustly taking the life of the doctor. I happen to disagree with abortion but I also know that those fundamentalists are perpetrating the same crime – killing someone who has not been justly judged.
Yeah, and it’s really unfortunate. Animals rights is a good cause to rally around, but the extremism with which some of the major groups (starts with a “P” and rhymes with “pita”) conducts their business is appalling.
And I have heard of some of those murders. That’s so dumb. When any semblance of reason abandons the effort, I just decide to sit out on the debate.
I do not support the murder of abortionists yet I must speak out against your claims here. These people believe that as an abortionist may perform hundreds of abortions (murders as they see it) a year killing him is justified to prevent these abortions (murders).
Many people would agree with assassinating Hitler to prevent the deaths that he caused. These abortion protesters see these situations as *****ogous.
If you could theoretically go back in time and kill Hitler before the war, very few people who are live now, would be. Changing the course of history effects every single person, so for example, without the war, my grandparents wouldn’t have met, and wouldn’t have married…as such they wouldn’t have had children, meaning that my Dad would never have existed, meaning that I would never have existed…and so on. Of course, the human race would still exist, population could be pushing seven or eight billion now, but few, if any of those people would be the people who were eventually born. In summary, you are alive thanks to Adolf Hitler, go back in time to kill him and you in effect massacre more people than the Nazi’s ever did. All based on fantasy of course, but worth thinking about.
Ah, but is it considered murder if those people never technically existed at all. And to neonshadows, if you killed Hitler then you would never go back in time to kill Hitler because he was never a problem. Thus resulting it what is commonly known as the Grandfather Paradox
Nice list.. So i guess we should say a little thanks to those Nazis for contributing even a little to society.. btw love the shoes created from Nazi ingenuousness..
Ha, dig it. Fashion is the beacon we can all gather ’round in this dark world.
On the autobahn; I don’t believe that “thousands of countries emulated” the autobahn. There are only around 200 countries known in the universe.
Maybe there are “thousands minus 200″ countries on other planets who have emulated the autobahns. Hitler has been beamed into space – if you believe the movie “Contact”!
Um, anything that’s been broadcast has indeed been sent into space as well; that’s the nature of electromagnetic waves. It’s a fact, not simply some “assertion” or “claim” that the producers of “Contact” were trying to make.
Actually, in “Contact” images from the 1936 Olympics were beamed back to us as a part of a message.
With all this chatter about what “good” the Nazis may have done, do remember that, at the end of the war, Hitler claimed that all the good Germans has already died, and that the rest were too weak to have earned the right to survive.
Nazi Germany, in all that did, and all that it had done to it, brought catastrophe down upon the heads of its own people, not too mention the tens of millions killed in everything from air raids to extermination.
Tell ya what, if you can find any veterans still alive from the 6th Army, ask them about the things the Nazis got right.
They got everything right except they failed to kill all the greedy jewish people who are still greedy p.o.s as of today… Imagine a world with no jews.. Hollywood would be a whole lot better ..
And there would have been very less entertaining movies and of course, no Jack black, Dustin Hoffman, Ben Stiller, Eugene Levy, Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Billy Crystal, and ur favorites, Daniel Radcliffe and Natalie Portman… And of course, ur idol, Paul Reubens… But of course, u can never be Ron Jeremy…
I Imagine a world without you… Yeah, much better…
Seriously, did u even have to comment???
Mel “fcuking ” Brooks
Don’t feed the troll!
I thought i told you to fcuk off.
Is this post meant to make me a Nazi? I hate all these people!
Adam Sandler’s family was living in Canada at the time of World War 2. They would have survived either way, unless of course the Nazi’s took control of the world in which case none of us might be here.
Disturbing that animals were protected but Jews, Gypsies & Gays were not.
Yeah, they treated most animals better than they did people!
Don’t think they are too popular in the moslem world either.
Oh yes they were. Look up the middle east campaigns during WWII. Plenty of mooslem dictators loved Hitler then and still do.
He means Jews, Gypsies and Gays are not popular in the Islamic world.
The Nazis got nothing right.
And yet there is a list of 10 of their achievements which are commonly held to be good.
U R FUNNY…
“The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones.” -Marc Antony, in Shakespeare’s “Julius Ceasar”
Great list, Rigato – thanks! Regarding their contribution to “fashion”, another contribution was their military helmet, which was very similar to the style eventually adopted by the U.S. and other countries. Other armies used something that looked like an inverted bowl, but the German helmet had that flare on the back to protect the neck- apparently very effectively.
They got this right?
Banning Vivisection. – they practiced that on humans in their concentration camps.
Animal conversation. – protect animals but kill humans without mercy
Anti Tobacco campaign. – the right thing for the wrong reasons. Hitler only banned them so that he had more fit troops to send into slaughter.
Welfare Programs. – fine as long as you weren’t jewish, gay, a communist, a pole, a russian, a slav or opposed the regime in any way.
The Volkswagon and the autobahn – propoganda tools only to solidify thier grip on power.
Rockets. – The world would have ended if nazis had developed rocketry and nuclear weapons. We were 1-2 years off world destruction.
Advances in film. – More propaganda tools and ways to spread their evil. These advances would have been made anyway.
Advances in fashion. – That these companies you mentioned were connected with the nazis is a thing of disgrace rather than pride. The only fashion that millions who suffered under the nazis saw was the jackboot of terror.
Medical advances. Your kidding, right. Unethical, cruel experiments that contributed nothing to real science.
An all time low for this site. You’ll get plenty of hits but at what price? Dignity and Credibility.
Gotta agree.. This list seems like it was done by a pro Nazi more then anything. Next thing will be a list called “10 good reasons the Nazis had to kill the Jews”
hahahahahahahahahahahahah
agreed 100%
TRUE Americans love vivisection, hate the US highways, hate affordable cars, love smoking, hate welfare, love killing animals, hate high fashion, hate cinematic art, hate bombing other countries and hate medical knowledge.
god bless amerikkka
Hahahahaha.
Well, I know you were being sarcastic and all, but “true Americans hate welfare” sounds about right. “Tax” is a terrifying word to them, even if those taxes go to help the poor or provide free healthcare to all.
They hate bombing other countries?
This list is intended to inspire DEBATE. Debate can’t occur if you dismiss everything without consideration. This list details things done under the Nazi regime that can be used beneficially today. In my opinion, you can’t say that none of the things listed have ever done any good post-WWII.
What is there to debate? All the ‘goods’ in this list served the Nazi’s in their moral depravity. This list smells of revisionist propaganda. A low for listverse!
Revionist propaganda! Ha! Name one thing on that list that isn’t true. Oh wait, it’s all true, you just don’t like it.
@ jammy very well put
I don’t know how you can blame such subjectivity, for a start, many countries indiscriminately killed civilians during world war 2 (and 1) including USA and UK, it was a very tragic epoch. Banning cruelty to animals has redeeming qualities, surely under your moral jurisdiction. Don’t forget that the nazi’s were in power for 6 years before the outbreak of war, thats a good few years of everybody living off the state (a recent artical by angela Merkel on Multikulti, comes to mind) How can you say the can you call the invention of roads and cars propoganda??? These are utensils used by homo sapiens, and not every German was a nazi, nor did every nazi perpetrate in the holocaust, and are/were thus evil. The world would not have ended if the nazi’s had aquired the bomb, they were trying to win a war not blow the whole world up. The closest mankind ever came to mutually assured destruction was October 1962, and you can’t blame that on the nazi’s. Advanses in film, evil, really….. i don’t think so, Goebbels had nothing to do with the advanses in film, go and ask Marlene Dietrich! Medical anvanses do not hold ecological validity in this list nor in my opinion. Many countries have gained medical knowledge at the expense of individuality, and i can not condone it. When studying world war 2 with objectivity, i don’t think about the holocaust as it distorts perception. The only time one should attempt to relate the holocaust to other things, is when studying the holocaust in it’s self.
sorry, i don’t know how you can blame WITH such subjectivity….
i agree with you but the nazis were not close to developing nukes
they miscalculated the amount of urainiom you need
Really? The Nazis were BAD people?
Wow thanks for poiting that out, I never knew!
And for the six yrs thy were in power before they were oppressive to everyone they hated.
The VW Beetle only endured because after WW2, the Allies wanted to rebuild the German economy and therefore promoted it. There were much better cars in the market at that time.
Also in the introduction instead of ‘one of the most famous political systems’ should be ‘one of the most infamous political systems’
Even Spok said of National Socialism that it was the most ‘effecient system in the history of the world’
And it is, you can’t lie about it. People like you, Baby Boom generation, are obsessed with pleasure and fake democracy, and couldn’t see the truth if it smacked you in the face with an M16 American gun.
>Animal conversation
You are really stupid (in case no one has told you that before).
:3
You’re just speculating. Don’t state your personal opinions and speculations as fact, because their not. Just because the people who made the innovations are evil, doesn’t mean the innovations themselves are. You’re not looking at this objectively, but rather emotionally. That and your making up motives without giving any evidence to back it up. And “these advances would have been made anyway” How the hell would you know? You don’t. And saying the person who wrote this is a pro-nazi is just low and pathetic, regardless of how these things were achieved, the achievements themselves were a benefit, and still are a benefit, to the world. And before you go all ape***** and call me a nazi too, I do not agree with the methods they used to come to these advances. But they are advances nonetheless.
Why do people see good in social programs? It is not possible to give some one something without first taking it from some one else. History has shown over and over again that the taking causes more problems than the giving solves. When giving solves a problem, that is.
Nazi Germany is the first to invent the Nuclear Bomb. When US and other countries invaded Germany at 30th april and the same scientist migrated to US and they forced Nazi Scientist to the same thing for US
The first entries on this list show the great ambiguity of the third reich. While they granted animals some rights. They took all rights away from some humans.
whats next ‘Top ten ways terrorism improved air travel safety’ laugh out loud stupid. number 1 yes if your a Nazi, not so true if your not a Nazi… And the rest? Not sure the whole Nazi thing was worth it really… But they are human beings and need love, understanding and zyclon b to kill our biological enemy’s
Sun Tzu Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles .
/HITLER/ did nothin right so did the nazi’s ,what an awfull list
You are opposed to Animal rights, Conservation, Social Welfare, Cinema, Anti-smoking programs, Highways, Cars, the Space Program, Fashion and Medical Knowledge? Wow! You must be a terrible person.
You could have only two reasons for saying that.
1: You didn’t read the list, or
2: You’re just plain stupid.
Would be nice if we could save more jews with the technology researched then the nazis killed in total. To bad it will take a LOT of time. But it is a relief that the victims that where killed helped there future family and not the nazi’s.
At the end good prevails.
Save more Jews?
So not save the people in Gaza, who are humans? You hate the Nazis for disgregarding human life yet, you support Israel which is doing the same right now.
It’s not a relief that Germany paid billions, and still is, in war guilt and repirations. That’s why over 50% want a Fuhrer back. It will happen, and when it does, I will be there and will say to you “Truth and good does prevail over evil”.
We can only hope, brother.
“That’s why over 50% want a Fuhrer back”
If that isn’t the biggest lie I’ve ever heard in my life…
Smane-”You hate the Nazis for disgregarding human life yet, you support Israel which is doing the same right now.”
Oh, yeah, asstard…those Death Camps in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv rival Auschwitz and Treblinka! Why, when I was there last month, I saw boxcars and boxcars of little Palestinean kids getting shoved into the IDF gas chambers or shot dead in a ditch. Those Jews are more evil than the Nazis!!!
Hey asstard, do you really believe that pile of bs or is some neo-Nazi organization paying you to say that? I challenge you to take a real trip to Israel and find out for yourself how bull***** that is, let alone show me any real proof of this that doesn’t come from a Neo-Nazi group or Radical Islamic terrorist organization…
Great list!
This list is undoubtedly going to take some critical flak, but I’m glad to have read it. The notion that the Nazi’s negative aspect far outweighed the positive is a strong and credible one, but it is nice to see the alternate side of the spectrum displayed, the side that is frequently ignored or seriously downplayed.
Wow. My post rationally criticizing this list and this site got moderated yet people can leave comments lamenting the fact that more Jews weren’t killed.
I apologize my comment was posted. Again, apologies.

BRAVO. this is an excellent list, it’s great to show that things are not just one sided. There is such focus and exaggeration on the evil of the nazis, and it really is not all true.
Actually, the evil is all true. It’s just not the ‘only’ thing they did.
Well put.
The worst of human feelings will percolate in the comments for this list. Luckily, I do not have time to follow carefully the comments. If I would, a meaner, more hateful and intolerant me might emerge. Fracking Nazism!
I’m shaking…
excellent list today! they should teach this side of history in more schools i think. as for the winter relief program, etc… when i was over in germany at age 16 we found out that all pensioners get discounted or free heating in colder months, school kids get vouchers for activities in the summer holidays… they really do look after their people and i believe that all stems from the nazis.
they seem to have been able to instill a sense of caring, respect and thoughtfulness no other country has managed, even after all the trials and tribulations they have gone through since the war.
they were so welcoming and extremely accomodating… very nice people indeed.
I don’t know when you have been to which part of germany, but there is no such thing like discounting or free heating today (and i can’t remember there has been in the lasst 20 years). There is a system of social insurances, which were introduced, long time before the NSDAP reign, by Chancellor Bismarck in order to make socialism and trade unions less attractive.
Please spell it right NSDAP (National Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiter Partei)
Leni Riefenstahl was great! I absolutely love her style.
Have also to add that the german welfare program was built on the model of the italian one.
Mussolini had a strong socialist background leading to a series of popular policies.
Actually, the german welfare program was built on the expropriation of the jewish community. It was only possible because the posession of the Jews was programmaticly nationalized.
its obvious that some nazi fanatic made the list
agreed 100%
TRUE Americans love vivisection, hate the US highways, hate affordable cars, love smoking, hate welfare, love killing animals, hate high fashion, hate cinematic art, hate bombing other countries and hate medical knowledge.
god bless amerikkka
Listserve definitely own their readers an apology for publishing this item.
Yes precisely,
>Listserve definitely own their readers
>own
You are really stupid (just in case no one else has let you know).
:3
Yeah, how dare they provide information and opinion to you for free?
BASTARDS!
Go ***** yourself, idiot. Why the ***** would they owe you an apology? Are you really so stupid to believe that just because nazis were nazis they were incapable of doing something good? These ARE good things the nazis did, it’s undeniable. And saying they owe you an apology? ***** YOU! They give you free entertainment, if anything, you should thank them, you idiot.
great list!!!!!! And kinda nice to point out that that evil out weigh the good btw am nigerian and hitler, nazis neuclear war are the least of our pro blems we are just trying to get thru malaria and polluted drinking water
Do these items the Nazis got right outweigh the means in which they got them? No.
I agree there is good, but the atrocities committed are too great to show much appreciation for the Nazi party.
Interesting list.
Yet your living in a country, i’m guessing America or Europe, which has abused and enslaved and murdered many other races on this planet. Yet I don’t see you damning America or or any other country. You’re still using inventions that came about through slavery. Because you love America’s ‘democracy’ and it’s ‘free speech’ right?
You’re a hypocrite and I hope you wake up from your slumber before it’s too late.
Guess you haven’t been around here long have you? Otherwise you would know your comment is 100% wrong about me. Nice that you assume that I don’t know anything about my country or what it has done. Also from where I hail from and what that country has done. So in other words…shut up.
You honestly must be joking…things the Nazis got right?! Animal rights? Advances in medicine? Film? Rocketry? Do you truly believe the Nazis found out all of this technology to benefit the human race? They did it to benefit the ARYAN race! You do understand that the Nazis (and Hitler) wanted only one thing – world control with a übermensch race!
Right to start off, advances in medicine such as “hypothermia”? Right, so imagine if your mother was dunked into ice cold water for 4 hours and then tested. She dies. Oh well, it’s for the good of science right? Wrong! It’s research into torture tactics and ways to survive cold conditions – how would the Nazis take over Russia without training for cold climates?
And your vivisection and animal preservation comments? So basically, gas, burn and experiment on Jews, gays and gypsies, but save Fido. Wow, so the nazis really knew how to take care of animals…being animals themselves I suppose they had to. (And go read up on the training tactics in the Hitler youth…how they used to train children to be unforgiving by making them kill their own animals…)
Rocketry? Well let’s see – I’m sure they wanted to use the technology to prevent wars right? Or maybe even experiment purely for enjoyment? Or maybe a nucleur rocket happens to be the most influential bargaining tool in capturing a country, assuming the country has none?
And as for “film” – do you know why the Nazis needed to improve film? It seems pretty silly, I mean they were busy killing people daily, plundering Trojan ruins and plotting conquest- but you say they focussed on film technique? You’re right!! And do you know why? Because they needed to record every act of torture, conquest and success so future Aryan generations could look back at their “proud” heritage and know that they came from perfect conquers.
Nevermind, the Nazis basically founded eugenics, which is still practiced in corrupt countries. They conducted “twin child” studies which caused one child to be exposed to disease while the twin was stabbed in the heart with bacterial needles. The Nazis single handedly destroyed families, businesses and communities so they could triumph the world. And you think that these stupid “things done right” were for the worlds benefit. After WW2, Nazis secrets were obviously given to the victors(Allies) as would any defeated nations secrets. If the Nazis won – well let’s just hope that you have no Jewish blood, gay tendencies or brown eyes.
Wake up – you’re glorifying unfeeling murderers. Sassan huisein built his country brilliantly don’t you think? I could also right a dumb list about things he did right, but after all is said and done he killed off his opponents for the hell of it and brought war to Americas door with threats against the West and nucleur tendencies.
You should be ashamed about this list. And don’t come with the rubbish that “nazis were people too…everyone has good in them” – you try thinking that being at the end of their gun barrels, while they laugh and call you a “f***ing jewish pig” and send your pregnant wife to be gassed to death with your 3 year old innocent daughter. O yeah, the Nazis got gassing “right” too!!
You missed the point of the list. It wasn’t to glorify the Nazi state. And instead of arguing the point myself, I will just post the last three sentences of the introduction….which it seems like you didn’t read.
“There is never pure evil, and this list is meant to show that. The purpose here is to educate and not to offend in any way. Regardless of the good things the Nazi’s did, the evil of the regime far outweighs it.”
You’re about as dumb as this list, Timothy. You missed the fact that he DID read the intro- because he refers to it. It’s just such a painful, hurtful thing for anyone to try to shed ANY light on anything that has anything to do with Nazi Germany it’s maddening. I did get something really useful out of this list though- I will never, ever buy anything Adidas, Puma, or Hugo Boss, under any circumstance, and I will urge others not to as well. So thanks for the heads up on educating my fellow nazi unenthusiats about the history of these companies.
But surely if we don’t know history it will repeat – we can’t just try to black out what the Nazis did. If it weren’t for this list you would have continued to buy from those companies you refer to – so at least one good has come from it. I also suspect that if you looked further into a number of companies (IBM for example) you would find many more that supported the Nazis. IBM provided computer systems (punch cards) for the Nazis to keep records of people they put in concentration camps.
Wow!! JFRater actually replied to me!!!
Let’s not forget about all the American steel companies that continued to do business with the Nazis even once the US declared war on them. Oh wait? What about Ford and GM? Both whom created subsidiary companies IN Germany, who built the supply line vehicles, hell even supplied engines used in the famed Panzer tanks. Oh… and when they were bombed by allies, Ford and GM were actually compensated by allies for damages.
The haters of this list exhibit one key thing. Their judgement is controlled by their emotional attachment. That is dangerous. I come from a Jewish background. My Jewish lineage immigrated to North America in the 1800s and were largely spared from the atrocities committed by the Nazi regime to Jews, the disabled and other “social undesirables” I do understand the emotional impact they represent.
But that doesn’t mean I cannot deal with those feelings, overcome them, put them aside and try to *****yze with as little bias as possible, the Nazis as a whole. They were not one-dimensional. Yes it is hard to imagine them as anything other than some crazed sadistic murder robot, but the fact is they were more than that. This list illustrates that, alongside other interesting facts of history one might dig up pertaining to their reign and the advancements in various areas of science and psychology.
If you cannot come to terms with your feelings, look beyond them, think rationally and see beyond the hate and negativity they spread…
You are weak. Ignorant and weak.
Realize that most of modern day society was founded on cultures equally as atrocious as they were. But the victors write history as they see fit.
History was paved with blood on our ancestors hands. Deal with it.
@Myki, couldn’t agree more. I was also glad to read a sensible argument on here.
Sorry meant glad to see a reasonable comment, as in your comment.
Good list also.
@ Clan wow! Very well put! So glad you commented!
A string of statements which bare little, if any resemblence to this actual list. You obviously have never studied history, and I am now assuming you are educated by cable TV. This is corroberated by…and I quote “Sassan huisein built his country brilliantly don’t you think? I could also right a dumb list about things he did right, but after all is said and done he killed off his opponents for the hell of it and brought war to Americas door”
I believe you are refering to Saddam Hussein, and although a dictator, he never attacked the USA, infact he was supported by the USA (and other western countries…)
You really need to take a chill pill, and see what this list is really about…
Actually, the United States was performing experiments in eugenics in the 1920s. The NAZIs got the idea of selective “breeding” of humans from us.
>Do you truly believe the Nazis found out all of this technology to benefit the human race?
No, I don’t; but that question is irrelevant.
I pose to you this question:
Do you truly believe the Nazi technology has not benefited the human race?
Actually, Eugenic practices were first started in the US and other countries long before Hitler came to power in Germany…
“Eugenics was widely popular in the early decades of the 20th century,[3] but has fallen into disfavor after having become associated with Nazi Germany(…)”
You do understand that the Nazis (and Hitler) wanted only one thing – world control with a übermensch race!
Ubermensch means ‘life unworthy of life’ – I love how you made that up. You have no idea what you’re on about, you braindead idiot.
And go read up on the training tactics in the Hitler youth…how they used to train children to be unforgiving by making them kill their own animals…)
Do you have any sources on that? Or did you take that off http://www.i‘mmakingthis*****up.co.uk?
“Nevermind, the Nazis basically founded eugenics, which is still practiced in corrupt countries”
I think you’ll find there was a eugenics programme in America before the Nazis came to power.. Haha, your evidence is so warped it is unreal.
“If the Nazis won – well let’s just hope that you have no Jewish blood, gay tendencies or brown eyes.”
The ‘blond haired, blue eyed’ myth has been proved fake many, many times. Gays are still persecuted today in democracys, idiot. As for Jews they have their own country and now persecute other people…
“you try thinking that being at the end of their gun barrels, while they laugh and call you a “f***ing jewish pig” and send your pregnant wife to be gassed to death with your 3 year old innocent daughter”
Oooh, you’re emotional. Try being a Vitenamese man, working in a field. Then have an American come up with a m16, claim he’s giving you democracy, shoot you in the head. Take your wife, rape her and then sell your daughter into prositution. Then burn your house and condemn your whole family as VCs. Ah.. democracy at it’s finest.
You sir, are a real life troll. You have been supping on the nipple of indoctrination and lies for a long time and i’m afraid there’s no cure for you. May God and Truth and all virtuous things have mercy on your damned soul.
I think that I love you dude… Excellent points. The evil of the Globalist Zio-Cons goes miraculously unopposed, our corrupt masters are too busy arresting elderly men for ‘war crimes’, such as the completely warranted defence of Germany from the Allies and the ‘Chosen’.
The Nazis didn’t invent eugenics, the United States government came up with that all by themselves back in the 19th century. If we Americans hadn’t been *****ing with our own “genetically inferior” people some forty years earlier, the Nazi party may not have enforced the racial laws they did – or at least not as strictly.
(Source: http://www.eugenicsarchive.org/eugenics/list3.pl)
I’d never argue that the Nazis weren’t a horrible regime who did awful things, but it’s not like they invented all the evil things in the world just for the hell of it as soon as the NSDAT party formed. Even the “good” guys can give us evil legacies. So why is it so strange that one or two good things come from the bad guys?
You’re point is very, very poor. You obviously missed the entire point of this list. It never said the ends justified the means. But regardless of the motives or intentions behind these advances, they were advances nonetheless and mankind has benefitted from them. Nobody is saying the nazis were right to do these things, you’re putting words in people’s mouths. You really showed how clueless you are, completely and utterly missing the point.
The Nazis were right to do these things.
One thing we could learn from the Nazis is how they ran their economy.
Yes, spending a lot of money and getting it back from confiscated private property and conquered countries is a really good way to build a long-lasting and safe economy. Sure.
Contribution to fashion are you *****ing kidding me?
They killed so many people based on what they were born into for no good reason. I’ll always consider them evil. ***** the Nazis.
total non sequitor lol…
The Nazis have had a lasting impact on fashion.
You can’t have it both ways. You can’t say that the Nazis were evil then use what they adopted in Germany in your own Country. We all know that the Nazis did atrocious things but if they had a great idea, regardless of what they did shouldn’t we use it? To use what the Nazis learned from human experiments to advance in medical science seems only right. If the information is there, for me anyway it shouldn’t matter where it comes from. Also don’t take that as me agreeing with what they did, because I don’t.
Yes,they did atrocious deeds,no great ideas whatsoever were shown by them
they did things good for other “races” but not for “others”.You see 101 wrong
s do not make one right or rather 1 !!! period …In some regions of the world
nazism still exists !
Sadly, Nazi beliefs can still be found every where in the world. Whether it be a small or large group. I live on the West coast of Canada and there are still people who believe the whole ‘white is right’. Though we have come so far from those Nazi days we are still decades, if not centuries, away from the world being a united front and EVERYONE being treated as an equal.
I hope English isn’t your first language. This post is meaningless.
Not everyone’s life goal is to to be 100% grammatically correct on an internet chat board. Let’s all play nice.
Interesting – this list best illustrates the danger of treating people as members of a group instead of as individuals. It becomes all too easy to excuse all manner of evil – it does’t matter, they’re not like us, they’re not even human, barely animals…. we don’t learn very quick.
And they were nice to animals.
who in the hell wrote this. utterley irresponsible and horribly inaccurate. animal conservation at the cost of treating humans like animals? how can a sane thinking person resolve this? dear author youre a fool!
You clearly don’t know the definitions of the words “inaccurate” or “fool”.
Animal conservation is a completely separate issue to wartime atrocities.
Sentences begin with capital letters.
If we have the knowledge, we should use it. And I agree with the introduction: today, it’s easy to dismiss the entire Nazi movement as evil; no more than historical boogeymen, so to speak. But the truth of it is that despite the Holocaust and Nazi imperialism, they were not just out to destroy Europe. Like any other regime, they were out to make their country the best that they could, and although their views and methods were misguided and undeniably evil, it’s obvious that in some areas, they succeeded.
in regards to number 9 the Nazis didnt “seize power” in 1933 as you put it, they were legally and democratically elected to power
Well, yes and no, they had to run a joint ticket with some of the nationalists (or whatever fringe rightist party). They did get a bare majority from that, I believe, but the Nazi party themselves never were given a majority. And they had to, rather undemocratically, ban the Communist Party. But even all this wasn’t enough to pass the enabling act, which required about a 60% majority, I think. They only achieved that by threatening one of the parties into voting for them. It wasn’t totally legal and democratic in that respect.
The German Autobahnen are decidedly not the largest freeway network in the world, let alone “single-handedly” so. The Interstate Highway System is far, far more extensive (six to seven times more), and the Chinese expressway network is also much bigger.
Ever seen the 400/401 corridor in Ontario? Handles the highest per day volume of traffic anywhere in the world.

Fascinating list, especially #2 and 3
Now that we’ve learned about these wonderful things that the Nazis accomplished for the good of humanity, I believe Listverse is morally obligated to publish the “Top 100 Things the Nazis Got Wrong.”
In addition, I’ve heard that the German government at this time also developed (implemented) the idea of ejecting out of an aircraft. This, along with other military advances (jet planes), came way too late to be of any use to the government
ethically this is hard, the nazis did make some advances,in medicine ,and doctors are gratefull for that ,but of course it was the wrong way to get info. i guess what can be gleaned from this list is that nothing is entirely good[except god] or entirely evil.the advances have saved thousands of lives, maybe these poor souls deaths were not entirely in vain…..
Damn! those nazis were snappy dressers.
at what point does one draw the line between dewelling on the past and remembering it. Where i come from there is a saying and it goes:
‘Na only person wey bellyfull na him dey complain about the water wey they use take cook him food’
translated as: only a jobless person complains about the past
This list is freakishly insensitive. You cannot turn $hit into sugar. The Nazi’s murdered 6 million people. PERIOD! No good comes out of that. They screwed their legacy. I don’t give a rats @ss what good they did however I respect ones right to inform…so Ill just say thank you for the fashion info. I got some hugo boss luggage and a pair of puma’s to throw in the garbage
>No good comes out of that.
And yet there is a list of ten good things the Nazis did.
And on the other hand America’s legacy which consist of genocide of the Native Americans, enslavery of Black people and countless invasions on countries that are procalimed as ‘undemocractic’ is a great legacy to you?
Moron, go and shoot yourself. You’re no use to anyone.
What is wrong with you people? They banned vivisection performed on animals? That’s cute. Too bad that they instituted vivsection performed on humans. This list is very misleading and will only cater to the wrong ideas of uneducated people who don’t know better and are thus an easy target for any kind of demagogy. Just like back then. I will no longer be a facebook fan of yours. Too bad.
Half of you nazi d*ck riders would have been in that 6 million they killed. They did NOTHING to make this world better they f*ucked their legacy. Now Excuse me I got some HugoBoss luggage and about 6 pair of Pumas to trow out
Absurd and offensive list. The very premise is non-sensical; the most murderous, brutal, and corrupt dictator can still institute some “good” or helpful policies, says the list writer…. well what of it? All governments, at any given time, exist *in some small measure* to serve the citizenry, even if *most* of the time they exist mainly to brutalize, terrorize, and steal from that same citizenry. So the premise for this list rests on a non-issue. No matter what, if we try judge Nazi Germany even just by what it did for its people, it ends up to have been a horrible regime and a tremendous negative for the German people (let alone everyone else in Europe and other parts of the world). There’s not even a *point* to a list like this, except to extol the obvious, which is that evil doesn’t spend ALL its time being *egregiously* evil. Well no *****. I’m sure Jeffrey Dahmer would have petted a puppy now and then. But that doesn’t make me want to stretch credulity by writing a list enumerating all the good things he may have accomplished in his life.
Moreover, not only is the list based on a silly (if occasionally technically accurate) premise (but then technical accuracy is NOT the same as “truth”) it’s also *inaccurate* or at best misleading on several points. As an example… Fashion. Really? FASHION? We’re supposed to believe that jackboots and black leather trench coats were some boon for mankind that we couldn’t have done without? Or that someone ELSE of a less bloodthirsty mind might have come up with? (Well, maybe we should scratch that—the very nature of much of the Nazi “fashion” was designed to dramatize and romanticize fascism, to strike fear in people, and to give monsters attractive uniforms—it required a certain amount of bloodthirst to design and wear such things, one would think).
Modern rocketry was NOT the invention of the Nazis—it was a parallel development by men from various nations–including Robert Goddard, an American (prior to WWII, and before Von Braun was even born, Goddard was formulating the theories for practical modern rocketry, and building his own rockets) Tsilkovsky, a Russian, and men like Hermann Oberth, a German. Von Braun was, yes, a brilliant rocket enthusiast and his team of scientists was largely responsible for the first practical, functioning ballistic missile—the V2–and later for the various rocket programs of our own country… but this doesn’t make his accomplishments out to be *Nazi* accomplishments. Far from it.
The Nazi bureaucracy, in fact, did little to help German technological progress during the war. Despite all the vaunted secret weapons and technological leaps made by Germany at this time, the fact is that they were all more *hampered* by the Nazi regime than in any way assisted. Nazi governmental incompetence made exploitation of these new technologies virtually untenable… and the fact that in the end none of them did anything at all to change the outcome of the war or even delay German defeat is proof that the Nazis were utterly incapable of making proper military use of the boons that their scientists provided. To award rocketry to them as though they were “responsible” for it is laughable and absurdly wrong, therefore, in any historical sense.
I could go on and on. Film innovation, for instance—hardly. Leni Riefenstahl is the only figure that can honestly be held up as “innovative” out of the Nazi period—the fact is that the true innovativeness of German cinema came BEFORE the Nazi period, during the Weimar republic, and it was those very anti-Nazi innovators and artists who were responsible for German Expressionism and other forms of cinematic artistry that the Nazis found decadent and detestable. Nazism drove the vast bulk of these cinema artists OUT of Germany… largely to the benefit of American cinema.
No matter how you look at it, this is a bad and ill-conceived list that should never have made it online.
You are 100% correct. The only good thing the Nazis ever did was die. They should have done that a long time before they got their sorry asses raped by the Russians.
number one on this list of “good” things the Nazis did is medical experiments on innocent people. Thats so *****ing retarded. This list should be taken down.
“technical accuracy is NOT the same as truth” Actually, damn right it is, moron! Technical accuracy is EXACTLY the truth. LMFAO!
And while the Nazi bureaucracy might have done little to help German progress I’ll tell ya exactly what did – The Americans! Damn right they did; doing business, shielding war criminals, and limping in at the end once the Russians had already done the job. (also – stealing all that Nazi gold).
So……………. Check. And. Mate.
Actually, Randall’s right. Technical accuracy and the truth are not the same. The two can overlap, but they are not EXACTLY the same thing. Something can be technically accurate but omit pertinent information that thereby causes the listener or reader to jump to an incorrect conclusion. For example, if you had to appear in court as a witness and then someone asked where you were and all that I said was that “you were summoned to court because of a criminal offense” I would be technically correct although people would jump to the conclusion that you had done something wrong. The truth, however, would be that you had done nothing wrong.
Your point about the Nazi bureacracy is logically inconsistent and therefore meaningless.
Thank you, Scratch… you saved me the time it would have taken in correcting this idiot.
No problem. I thought it was amusing that he thought he had checkmated you.
” the most murderous, brutal, and corrupt dictator can still ”
Once again, a ‘human being’ so easily mislead by lies and then claims he came up with these opinions himself. Stalin was the most murderous dictator with a kill/death ratio of 100,000,000 to 1. , and Ghengis Khan killed more people than Hitler. Yet I bet you wear a Stalin t-shirt or proclaim how great Stalianist Russia was.
“The Nazi bureaucracy, in fact, did little to help German technological progress during the war. Despite all the vaunted secret weapons and technological leaps made by Germany at this time, the fact is that they were all more *hampered* by the Nazi regime than in any way assisted”
They invented the Volskwaged, KDF, computer, jet plane, nerve gases, automatic rifle, stealth technology, audio technology, management systems, modern sewage treatment facilities, space rockets, IR techonologies, everything IBM and the list goes on.
It looks like you better not use a computer, go on a jet plane, listen to audio, have a job, go to the toilet, marvel at space photographs or use anything to do with IBM if you hate Nazis. BUT OH WAIT.. you’re a fickle person so now you’ll say ‘yeah they did this and i use all this stuf….. but still kiled doze 6 mil jews and stuff.. brb gona go play on my computer and listen to audio’
You sound very anti-Nazi which in unusual. You’re even demonzing inventions that help us today. It seems to me like you have something buried deep in your past – the only way you can hide your faults is by demozing the Nazis.
Sir, you deserve to be shot into space.
Okay, jackass. I can’t believe I have to waste my time with the likes of you, but here we go.
Even this LIST ITSELF does NOT claim that the Nazis “invented” the Volkswagen. Read again. The Nazis did NOT “invent” the Volkswagen.
The COMPUTER was, in fact, a BRITISH invention if *anyone* invented it. The first actual computer in any real sense was Colossus, the computer designed and built by technicians from the British Post, and the geniuses at Bletchley Park, for the purposes of decoding. NO German “computer” even comes close to this. In fact, I know of NO German work on computers that even comes in the neighborhood of Colossus, or the computers being developed in the US about the same time. Certainly nothing predating either.
NEXT… the jet plane was NOT a German/Nazi invention. IN POINT OF FACT the FIRST operational jet was BRITISH, not German. The Gloster Meteor. The Germans came up with a more efficient airframe design, and in some ways a better engine (though their best was badly prone to catching fire) but the jet was NOT their invention. Experimentation with jet technology had been going on in Britain well before the war.
NEXT… Nerve gas? Are you kidding? This was invented PRIOR to WWI, and you can make an argument about who came up with it in a practical sense first—but certainly not the Nazis—seeing as they didn’t exist yet.
The automatic rifle is at best arguable. Browning, for instance, would have something to say about it.
Stealth technology? EXCUSE me? Pray tell—what stealth technology were the Nazis responsible for? You’re simply pulling stuff out of your ass now. If ANYONE could be said to have “invented” stealth per se—in any real sense—it would be the British… but it all depends on what you mean by “stealth.” However, there’s certainly no German/Nazi innovations in stealth that I’m aware of.
MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS? Are you *****ing for real? Do you even have a CLUE of what you’re talking about? The Nazi war machine AND government were both INCREDIBLY inept management systems. They were rife with favoritism, ridiculous compartmentalization and backward thinking theories. It is a MYTH that the Nazis had some particular management genius. In fact, at every step Nazi mis-management of both the military, government, and science ended up costing them dearly—very dearly.
I’ve already pointed out that rocket technology was NOT a German, let alone a Nazi invention.
I could go on and on.
Learn some *****ing history before you comment here.
your a moron and anyone who trys to shine a light showing the good of the third reich should spend a day in a north korean concentration camp. animal conservation……..really…….give me a break
You should spend a day in a ghetto, or in Africa
Your democracy’s really helped those people out.. right? RIGHT? RIGHT? Who are you kidding.
what? come to me with a real arguement and i’ll give you some rebutal but this……what is ths i don’t even know what your sayin….
Interesting list.
However, I don’t believe that the Nazis were looking out for the welfare of every German citizen. They were concerned with those that they considered to be true Germans, and everyone else was only good for slave labor.
Also, the idea of welfare and social nets came about much earlier than the Nazis. Otto von Bismark instituted such programs in the 19th century, before Hitler was even born.
What a bunch of cry-babies.
Well, this list definitely did cause controversy. Think I’m going to go put on my uniform and go hate me some Jews because this list influenced me to do it.
Seriously though, I do find this list interesting as everything Nazi-related is automatically associated with evil. Nobody is saying it was worth what they did, but to read something about a group that is almost never brought up is fresh, and sometimes we have to give credit where we don’t want to. That’s life, but the author had no intentions of trying to make them look good whatsoever. Over-sensitivity for the win.
“fresh” so iguess the next lists should shine some light on how well the apartheid legislation formed a civilization hierarchy or how well we segregated our schools or how bout how it was constitutional for the for founders of our nation to board slaves. that would be fresh. just being right either previosly or in the future doesn’t constitute shining light through the evil deeds when the scales are tipped so heavy. i’ll appreciate a list like this when time is due…..now willl it ever be due?
Stop trying to compare apples to oranges.
oh yeah….this website doesn’t compare items and issues and rates them with bias. i thought i was on communist listverse sorry. lo big frigginL
this list is *****ing stupid
Interesting list. Good collection.
Excellent list. I know a ot of tis but the animal rights and smoking things were interesting
Folks need to a be a little objective – if anything his list of ‘good’ things only highlights the depravity of the whole nazi regime: Welfare programs as they institutionalized mentally handicapped, animal rights as they trampled the rights of other people and nations, concerns over the effects of smoking while they march millions into concentration camps.
I am a firm believer in banning animal vivisection and am a strong supporter of Animal Rights, but I take nothing to do with extremist groups that condone killing people. Although I must add that I believe the Nazi’s may well have been trying to make some point about their anger towards animal suffering and made the decision to treat what they deemed ‘lesser’ humans in the appalling way we treat animals, maybe as a kind of brutal ‘poetic justice’. It is a well-known fact that Hitler was an animal lover – and a sick, twisted nutjob.
The Nazis also dicovered that smoking caused cancer, and wanted to find a cure for it. Which is one of the best things ever. And Nazis loved animals, Hitler adored his Dog, Blondi, we know he poisoned her to test poison, but he also said, “I`d never let a Russian have my Dog,” Himmler was a Chicken Farmer, he said, he ran the SS, “like Chickens,” and Hermann Goering had a pet Lion. and also, Hitler admired the British Empire. He said he wanted Russia to be “His India.” They also make great movie-villains. Also, Hitler was an Aries like me. so Hitler and the Nazis aren`t all bad. And for God`s sake, Communists killed more people than they ever did. and What have Commies ever done that have benefited the human race? Er-nothing.
Putting animal welfare above the lives of 6 million people? The Nazis were terrible people, any advancement that they gained in science and medicine was purely for their own ends, not the good of the world. They really is no argument here. The Nazis were pure evil no matter how you look at it! The fact that Hitler prized the life of his dog over the life of innocent humans should be enough to tell you about the mans morals.
Himmler was responsible for more deaths during the war than any other, and you think he was a decent bloke because he kept chickens???
Please… Get your head out of your @rse and look at what the Nazis achieved, a 6 millions strong death count, End of story
Yeah, Hitler killed 6, million Jews. And he killed OTHER people as well. Gypsies, Commies, Frenchmen, Soviet POWS, the disabled, etc. He`s thought to have killed 21, MILLION, not 6, million. And have you ever heard of Jasenovac? And sure he killed millions. And? What about the Commies? They killed more people than the Nazis ever did. at least over a hundred million people have been killed by the ghastly ideology of communism. Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, North Korea, Romania, millions were killed because of this evil idea. Stalin`s Purges, the Ukrainian Famine, the churches destroyed, Mao`s Great Leap Forward, where up to 38, MILLION are estimated to have starved to death, And I`ve been to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in Cambodia, where it shows the people that were killed by Pol Pot, and the ghastly memorials made out of SKULLS. So yeah, the Nazis were filth, but Commies are just as bad-or worse.
No doubt the communists were as bad if not worse than the Nazis but this list is about the Nazi regime not the communists. My argument is that the Nazis were terrible people, doesn’t matter which way you look at it. You were basically saying Hitler / Himmler etc were not all bad because they had a soft spot for animals. I would say that they were because anyone who places an animals life above a human life is not sound in the head…
I respect your argument but I cant completely agree with it!
The fact that as you put it “Himmler ran the SS like a herd of chickens” is not a good thing, it shows that the man saw these people as expendable. Not that he had any respect for their lives whatsoever!
Great list. Really interesting, yet dripping with irony.
“No such thing as pure evil” my a**. They were totally evil, regardless of whatever advances came under their watch. The above list does nothing in the least to mitigate their essential evil.
So why aren’t you condeming your great grandad as evil? I’m sure he came over to America, shot him a few Native Americans, burned those green forests, raped a Navajo girl and then himself up on some land.
But oh no.. who cares about that.
Medical Advances? I guess it’s handy to have a whole population of humans to perform research that was sadistic, cruel, and often fatal.
Awesome list. But VWs still suck.
