Top 10 Most Dangerous Magic Tricks
Published on September 27, 2008 - 104 Comments
Throughout history magicians have been performing amazing tricks for our entertainment, as time went on, the tricks got better and better. They continued to push the boundaries, Combining danger with illusion, resulting with more and more ridiculous feats being performed to this very day. But everyone knows it’s all smoke and mirrors right? Well this is not always the case; Magicians have stretched the limits right to the edge, where sometimes the danger is very real. I think we should take a look at a ten of the most dangerous tricks that have been performed throughout history, some of these are illusion, and some are just plain crazy!
“Nobody wants a man to fall to his death but they want to be there when it happens.” -Houdini
Everyone has seen or at least heard of a magician sawing a woman in half, and everyone has their own little theory on how it works, but the truth is that the methods of this trick vary considerably which has lead to some of the greatest versions of the illusion emerging today. One of my personal favorite versions is performed by rock star magician Criss Angel, where there are no funny boxes or giant saws, just a magician and a spectator…
Award winning magician Lance Burton, while shackled and handcuffed to roller coaster tracks, with the roller coaster zooming along, has to pick the locks and escape before he’s little more than roadkill. The only thing I can think of to make this more dangerous is if the roller coaster was on fire. Enjoy!
Here is another great classic of magic, the sword cabinet! The assistant climbs into a tiny little box which is then sealed shut. The magician then proceeds to thrust swords through every conceivable angle, leaving no apparent room to hide, The swords are then removed and the assistant reveals herself unharmed. But it is all a trick right? Not unlike the sawing in half illusion, there were many versions of this trick in history. Some of these versions do rely purely on calculated sword thrusts and a contortionist assistant, so the danger can be very real depending on who is performing it. There have been many injuries over the years. In the clip above, we see Hans Moretti performing this trick in a cardboard box.
Escape artist Harry Houdini was touring through a mental institution, when he spotted a man strapped in a straight jacket. He was struggling with all his strength and energy to get free of this device but to no avail. Houdini was fascinated at the effectiveness of this jacket and this was just the challenge that he had been looking for, thus giving birth to one of the most popular escapes to date. Since then it has grown more and more dangerous, such as being performed under water, hanging upside down from a crane, and being dragged behind a boat. If you can think of a stupid thing to do with a straight jacket, magicians have probably done it.
Escape Artist Steve Quinn fell to his death while performing this trick hanging upside down from a crane. There are no illusionary elements here, just good old escapology. The video above shows the original footage of Houdini performing this trick.
At 9 a.m, Monday November 27, 2000, in Manhattan’s Time Square, Magician David Blaine decided it was a good idea to freeze himself inside a solid 6 ton block of ice for 63 hours. He was encased in two halves, in which his body contour had been cut, so he had a small amount of room to scratch his nose (yeah, an itchy nose is the primary danger here Dave!). He also had life lines to monitor his health and a catheter to urinate. In my opinion this is one of the craziest feats in magic to date.
This nasty little number may not be the most Dangerous, or even the most impressive, but it has caused a lot of people a lot pain in the last couple of years! It is a variation on the old three shell game where the magician places a pea under one of three shells, then mixes them up at which point you try to identify the shell with the pea.
Modern magicians have given this classic a dangerous new spin by replacing the the pea, with a large spike, and the shells with styrofoam cups. The magician (blindfolded, or in another room) lets The spectator cover all the wooden blocks with the cups. He then walks over to the three cups and instantly smashes his hand on two, leaving the cup with the spike underneath untouched! Sounds amazing? Here’s what happens when it goes wrong with a spectator involved.
In 2001 David Copperfield stood in the center of a 2000 degree tornado of fire, and survived. This trick makes the list just on the name alone!
Another crazy feat invented by Houdini was the water torture cell. The magician is handcuffed, his ankles are locked into a Restraint brace, he is suspended upside down in mid air, and then lowered into a glass tank of ice water, with the restraint locked at the top of the tank. Dangerous enough? Houdini wasn’t killed in the water torture cell, despite popular belief.
Here is a very old and Very dangerous trick, being buried alive. Originally performed by the Fakirs of India, this trick found its way onto Houdini’s “to do list”, but due to his sudden death this trick was cut short. That didn’t stop magicians performing the trick years later, Notably the late Joe Burrus.
Joe was an upcoming magician in California when he decided to tackle the buried alive feat, shackled up inside a plexiglass coffin and lowered into the earth. Assistants then covered him with seven tons of soil and concrete, however when they were almost complete, the level suddenly dropped 18 inches which indicated something had gone wrong. After fifteen minutes of excavating he was found crushed. Since then it has been performed time and time again by contemporary magicians such as David Blaine and Criss Angel, but it doesn’t hide the fact that there is always a very real danger with these kinds of tricks.
Interesting Fact: Although Houdini never got round to performing it, he did have a specially designed coffin made for the trick. with his sudden death, he was later buried in that very coffin. Kind of ironic that the escape artist lies trapped forever in a coffin he once planned to escape from!
The most dangerous magic trick ever performed is undoubtedly the Fabled Bullet Catch. This fatal trick has claimed the lives of many magicians, assistants, spectators, and wounded countless others over the years. The basic effect is a bullet (usually signed or marked) loaded into a gun and shot at the magician, who then usually catches it in his hand or teeth. This trick contains illusionary elements, but the danger is still very real, as has been proven over the years.
According to legend, this trick dates back to the 1600’s, where a magician named Coullew was claiming to successfully catch bullets, This however didn’t last long as he was beaten to death with his own gun by an angry spectator, who probably thought he was some kind of demon. Next was Torrini De Grisy, who accidently shot his son on stage. Another magician of the time De Linsky took the life of his wife when a real bullet was accidently loaded into the gun. Magician Arnold Buck was killed when a spectator secretly loaded nails into the gun.
Michael Hatal and Otto Blumenfeld were both killed from forgetting to switch the real bullets for blanks. The Black Wizard of the West was killed when his wife purposely loaded real bullets into the gun. But Perhaps the most famous bullet catch performer was Chung Ling soo, who was a very famous oriental style magician who was shot when a piece of shrapnel from the gun was accidently fired at him live onstage. he was rushed to hospital and upon removal of his clothes they discovered he was actually an american who had been secretly pretending to be Asian to distinguish himself. Estimates say this trick has claimed the lives of around 15 magicians, not counting assistants or spectators.
After such a bloody history this trick has earned the reputation of being cursed, as very little professional magicians perform it today. In the video clip above we see a more recent version performed by Penn and Teller

Great list, i’ve always been intrested in these kind of Things, Great List - Great Site.
2. Avi - September 28th, 2008 at 2:23 am
Wow some guys are just plain nuts. David Blaine has gotten damn boring compared to this stuff. Hanging upside down really is just stupid.
3. jck1074 - September 28th, 2008 at 2:36 am
Avi- Hahaha just what i was thinking. How does hanging upside down then “flying” away compare to the block of ice or being buried alive.
Magic is always one fun thing for skeptics (like me) so i gotta love this list! Absolutely great!
4. Bubina - September 28th, 2008 at 2:39 am
Great list - I always wish someone could explain to me how they do #10…
5. Kyran Wray - September 28th, 2008 at 3:11 am
but that would ruin the magic!
6. knight_forked - September 28th, 2008 at 3:19 am
This is definitely a great list. I agree with Avi that David Blaine has become monotonous now (not to take away any credit from his great performances though). But his tricks at best are more of endurance sport/stunts than magic tricks in a traditional sense (do you see a resemblance between him and Kafka’s hunger artist? …just that he is getting much more attention).
I truly revere magicians (or for that matter all the artists) as they are the epitome of most creative minds at par with scientists and philosophers. Great compilation Kyran Wray!
7. Kyran Wray - September 28th, 2008 at 3:23 am
hey thanks!
david blaine is more of an endurance artist now, and even though his latest stunt was a complete disaster im still impressed with the fact he managed to hold his breath for over 17 minutes earning him the world record.
8. xdarkhorsex - September 28th, 2008 at 3:56 am
I think it’s worth mentioning here that Houdini was more of a David Blaine type than a Criss angel type….. in his day, howard keller was a criss angel type. Who do people remember?
9. Kyran Wray - September 28th, 2008 at 4:06 am
i think you mean Howard Thurston, but that is very true none the less, laymen remember Houdini and forget Thurston, despite them being equally famous at the time. perhaps blaine will go down in legend and angel will be forgotten?
10. thewebpromoter - September 28th, 2008 at 4:28 am
Chris Angel is a demon.
11. PirateXxEsque - September 28th, 2008 at 5:18 am
Number 6 has been debunked somewhere….
It turns out it was dry ice or something, and he wasn’t cold at all, or anything like that. They also played with the video released aswell, showing only him freezing and stuff, but he had access to a TV and food.
It was a really interesting show actually.
12. LZ - September 28th, 2008 at 5:24 am
Check out the Criss Angel reveal videos on youtube. He’s no demon. Pretty clever like…
13. xdarkhorsex - September 28th, 2008 at 5:26 am
Kyran, you are totally correct. I mixed up the names harry keller and howard thurston.
at one time in my younger life I performed magic semi-professionally and I enjoyed researching the art. I have had the opportunity to meet some of today’s artists.
14. Kyran Wray - September 28th, 2008 at 5:52 am
PirateXxEsque, although there are many theories on david blaines frozen in time methods, its worthy to note that it was probably harder for him to fake it, than actually perform it.
The art of illusion is a tricky business, more so than one would think. He probably realises this now, hence why he’s more of an endurance artist
15. lola - September 28th, 2008 at 6:16 am
Chris Angel in number 10 uses a woman who does not have the lower part of her body, basically she is on stilts, she has a site of her own somewhere.
16. Lil Nic - September 28th, 2008 at 6:44 am
omg i just saw that video with that magician who had 15 seconds to escape,as above his head there were spikes and he got killed. That was horrific!i feel traumatized
17. Ghidoran - September 28th, 2008 at 6:55 am
Crazy.
18. She Wont Know Its Me - September 28th, 2008 at 7:08 am
“he was rushed to hospital and upon removal of his clothes they discovered he was actually an American who had been secretly pretending to be Asian”
I wonder how they knew he was not Asian with his clothes off?
19. adoh - September 28th, 2008 at 8:09 am
Good one, She Wont Know Its Me! ;D
20. Spence425 - September 28th, 2008 at 8:30 am
David Blaine doesn’t strike me as a magician. At least his highly publicized specials are all stunts, not magic. sitting in a block of ice? hanging upside down? how is that magic?
21. poonus - September 28th, 2008 at 8:31 am
Because he smelled of freedom
22. Kreachure - September 28th, 2008 at 8:57 am
How is “sawing a woman in half” dangerous? It’s not like they ever REALLY try to saw someone in half, it’s just an illusion! The rest are also illusions, but there is a possibility of things going wrong which makes them potentially dangerous.
23. Kreachure - September 28th, 2008 at 8:58 am
Spence425: Houdini wasn’t really a magician either, he was an escape artist. That would make David Blaine an, uh, “endurance” artist!
(but he does do “street magic” too, so…)
In fact, no magicians are magicians, they’re all illusionists!!!
24. ScubaSteve - September 28th, 2008 at 9:04 am
David Blaine and Chris Angel both suck at magic. Chris Angel edits his show to make it appear that he has done some wonderful feat. David Blaine, now he is just a douche bag.
25. steve wilkos - September 28th, 2008 at 9:27 am
how is standing in a brick of ice magic?
26. pureangel23 - September 28th, 2008 at 9:50 am
Back in season 3 of The Ellen Degeneres Show, she had an Illusionist on her show… Keith Barry who did the cone trick on her show and used her in it. She was shaking so much and it was really funny to watch… its on youtube if you want to check it out. This is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....re=related
27. UCCF - September 28th, 2008 at 10:03 am
Illusions, Kyran. These are illusions. A trick is something a whore does for money… or candy.
28. jfrater - September 28th, 2008 at 11:12 am
UCCF: Maybe in America “trick” only refers to whores - but elsewhere it refers to magic as well
29. segue - September 28th, 2008 at 11:13 am
I *hate* magic tricks, illusions. I’ve always hated illusions. Even as a kid I hated magic illusions.
I’ve known three individual magicians, members of Hollywood’s Magic Castle, two with worldwide followings. I hated watching their magic illusions.
I have no explanation why. I was never traumatized by a magician, it was more like I was always embarrassed by the obviousness of most of the illusions, and bored by the rest.
None of the featured “artists” are worthy illusionists, but maybe that was the point?
30. miki - September 28th, 2008 at 11:27 am
super cool list!
31. bla - September 28th, 2008 at 11:35 am
jfrater: he was quoting Arrested Development.
32. Mortivore - September 28th, 2008 at 11:39 am
Hey, that’s some seriously cool stuff. XD I like the sword in the box one. That was a pretty hefty guy. He must do yoga, or something.
33. BlackYamiCat - September 28th, 2008 at 11:47 am
Hurrah! I love magic. Criss Angel is awesome, but I don’t really consider David Blane as a magician anymore, more of an endurance performer. Did anyone see Death Wish Live, back in 2005, I think it was. Now, that was dangerous magic!
34. Riya B. - September 28th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Awesome list, and the tornado of fire was freaky! Magic tricks never get tiring…
35. jfrater - September 28th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
bla: oops - thanks for pointing that out
36. Flock O’Seagulls - September 28th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
If Howard Thurston was such a great magician, how come he couldn’t escape from that deserted island . . . wait . . . never mind.
37. Mav - September 28th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
VEry awesome list.
Now we need the 10 how to do the tricks list.
38. postman - September 28th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
I remember seeing Penn&Teller doing a trick with thousands of bees which I personally think is very dangerous.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gysIuQRK7eA
39. Kyran Wray - September 28th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
ah penn & teller have done so many great tricks over the years, now i’m addicted to there show “Bullshit” it’s such a great show for skeptics
40. Corey - September 28th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Damn, that girl in Chinese Water Torture held her breath for 2 minutes. It would take a great control of nerve to do that trick.
I’m disappointed #10 is even on here. Criss Angel stages all of his tricks. You’d have to be legally retarded to believe he pulled a woman apart.
41. xdarkhorsex - September 28th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
umm corey all magic is staged
42. Kyran Wray - September 28th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
yeah… that tends to be the appeal, ordinary people performing the impossible. the method shouldn’t really matter
43. Mullaccio - September 28th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Derren Brown is my favourite performer. Here is a clip of him playing russian roulette. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylAHWVuPNus
44. Hayzeus - September 28th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Yeah, The Russian Roulette one should be on here.
Also, on #1 you can see exactly where they swap the bullets at 3:08
45. Corey - September 28th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Ohhhh is it? Thanks for pointing that out. *eye roll*
I’m saying that Criss Angel doesn’t even do illusions. He uses actors and dumb gags like an amputated woman. I could pull an amputated woman with fake legs in half too. Where is the appeal?
46. Blogball - September 28th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
This is really a fun list Kyran Wray. My daughter and I watched every one of them. She turned her head on the spike one because she knew what was coming.
Segue, your comment reminded me of friend of mine who hated magic too. Only she hated it because it bugged her that she didn’t know how the trick was done. She once said while watching a magic trick “I can’t stand this crap, all this guy is doing is saying here is a trick and your stupid” I’ll never forget that.
47. Flyin’ Dan - September 28th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Regarding #9, Roller Coaster Escape
Roller coasters have emergency brakes built into the track, dividing the track into numerous short sections. The roller coaster I worked on (Galaxy or Wildcat) was a 90-second ride and had six in-track brakes, making seven sections. Each section then, represented about 13 seconds of the ride.
These brakes are simply bolted to the bottom of the track and can be placed any where. They are remotely controlled by an electrical switch.
It would be easy to install a couple of brakes, say, two-seconds and one-second ahead of the point where the magician is. Then, of course, if the trick is going wrong, the brake could be tripped and would stop the car.
48. Jennz - September 28th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Steve Quinn died of cancer. He did not fall to his death escaping from a straight jacket as is stated above. I was on a magician website and friends of his said his closest call was during an escape from a burlap bag in water. He did not fall to his death during a stunt.
49. Kyran Wray - September 28th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
hmmm my sources tell me otherwise, but if you these people have proof get them to email me at kyranwray@gmail.com.
cheers
50. P.J. - September 28th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Just FYI, it’s “straitjacket,” not “straight jacket.” Cool list, though!
51. downhighway61 - September 29th, 2008 at 12:23 am
ughhh I HATE when people say that knowing how it’s done will ruin it!
It’s not like I don’t know that it’s an illusion. Not knowing how things are done really bugs me in general.
I did however enjoy the list.
52. Arnaud - September 29th, 2008 at 1:14 am
Come on !!! How can you not mention GOB Bluth !!! Friend of doves and rabbits, doing his tricks (illusions actually, a trick is something a prostitute does for money) with Final Countdown as a background music, able to make a whole yacht disappear !!!
He’s a real pro, no matter what the Alliance says…
53. Eli Jones - September 29th, 2008 at 1:21 am
I think #1 should have been the pencil trick from dark knight. Not necessarily dangerous for the magician, but totally awesome none the less.
54. Nicosia - September 29th, 2008 at 2:22 am
Derren Brown is the sexiest man alive
55. Kyran Wray - September 29th, 2008 at 2:59 am
Eli Jones: hahahaha that pencil trick actually crossed my mind, best part of the movie.
56. conan - September 29th, 2008 at 4:49 am
this should be on my list of “top 10 worst top 10 lists”
57. Callie - September 29th, 2008 at 6:34 am
I hate david Blaine with a passion. He’s the most unimpressive man on the planet and the only thing he’s good for is making fun of in the Funny or Die skits.
Cheese its! cheeeeeeeeese its!!!!!!
58. artisan54 - September 29th, 2008 at 6:35 am
the frozen in ice thing that david blain did has already been debunked. he switched with a body double several times during the course of the “performance” they did this when the ice became “cloudy”.
59. Sedulous - September 29th, 2008 at 8:00 am
I read some of the comments about Criss Angel and it’s true. He uses actors and the right camera angels to perform his tricks. I mean that’s fine for TV entertainment but it’s much more impressive to perform the tricks using random people off the street. I mean obviously David Blaine wasn’t quite as elaborate but at least he did this stuff in front of real people. I mean if your are using camera work and actors…..might as well thrown in a little CGI.
60. Scientific - September 29th, 2008 at 8:22 am
David Blaine really need to do something amazing to make up for his stupid hanging up-side down trick. That was the biggest waste of 2 hours watching that crap.
61. A - September 29th, 2008 at 9:19 am
I have a friend from Florida who is quite the illusionist. He makes up his own tricks all the time. I wish I could do that. =/
62. David in London - September 29th, 2008 at 9:59 am
Nicosia. I hope this doesn’t disappoint you - http://www.pinknews.co.uk/news.....-7459.html
The doubt I’ve always had about David Blaine is are the people on the street really random?
63. Christine - September 29th, 2008 at 10:19 am
I think the best part of the Criss Angel video is not so much the trick but the expressions on the faces of the audience afterwards. Hilarious. I’d probably be the same way though!
64. Nicosia - September 29th, 2008 at 10:52 am
I know, but a girl can dream
65. dofnup - September 29th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
It also frustrates me to not be able to know how the trick is done. It wouldn’t take away from the experience because it’s still awesome to watch the illusion. It just bugs me to not know, argh!! >_
66. Vera Lynn - September 29th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
That’s not how Houdini died. He was notorious for being able to handle being punched in the gut. His stomach muscles were so strong. A college student offered up the challenge and punched him in the gut before Houdini was ready. He perforated something. That’s how he died.
67. MPW - September 29th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Criss Angel is an amazing magician, definitely my favorite. Very entertaining list.
68. Redcaboose - September 30th, 2008 at 1:12 am
I loved the fun in the sword in the box. Completely
enthralled. And the women cut in half was great. Thanks for a great list.
69. kyran wray - September 30th, 2008 at 1:19 am
Vera Lynn: Despite popular belief, Houdini wasn’t killed by a punch to the stomach (although he was punched in the stomach in the same day he died). It was the result of a ruptured appendix and people just naturally linked the punch to his death.
you can read the full story here on our favorite site; Snopes

****
I’ve always heard the punched in the gut before ready story, which didn’t quite hold water, but came from so many sources it obviously had a grain of truth.
After reading the Snopes article it became crystal clear.
Houdini already had appendicitis, and it was already fairly advanced. When the college student pummeled him, exactly where his appendix was, with Houdini lying on his side, the student further damaged, and probably ruptured, the already swollen, infected appendix.
So, Vera Lynn is right. kyran wray proved Vera Lynn’s veracity, while attempting to do the opposite! All you have to do is read the article with a tiny bit of knowledge behind you and ta-da!
Way to go Vera Lynn!
73. Kyran Wray - September 30th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Hmmm yeah, its still not true. Houdini already had appendicitis to begin with and would of died regardless of wether he was punched or not, Doctors at the time just naturally linked the two together because it made sense. Today however Doctors agree that apendicitis caused by blunt trauma is impossible or unheard of, Houdini merely had severe stomach pains and subsequently wrote them off as discomfort caused by the blows. while these punches may have hasted the pain, they certainly didn’t kill him.
the reason the punch in the gut story is so popular is because thats what doctors thought at the time, with modern medical advancement however we can safely rule out the punch.
popular sure doesn’t mean its true
74. segue - September 30th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
73. Kyran Wray, if Houdini had been taken to hospital and his infected appendix removed before it burst, he would not have died.
Peritonitis only sets in after rupture of the appendix and subsequent spillage of infected material into the abdominal cavity.
Quick action could have saved his life.
75. Kyran Wray - September 30th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Yes i agree. But you claimed that the punches to his stomach were the cause of his ruptured appendix, which simply isn’t true. We can assume that they had phycological effect on him as he may of thought thats what the pain was from the blows, but my point was that the punches didn’t kill him, appendicitis did.
76. boredgirl - September 30th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
The video on number 10 I saw and it reminded me of the TLC story of “The women without a Bottom half of her body” or something like that I think its possible the woman being pulled apart was her on stlits. I noticed she crawled the same like the women. ; )

Did you make this site for fun? was it part of a project? i think its really cool cuz i’m doing like a total magian report for school.

…obduracy seems to be a popular trait these days
84. jim - October 2nd, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Criss Angel’s technique is to act as though the trick is not going according to plan, and sometimes even fail the apparent trick, and then make his “miraculous” come back. Alot of his stuff is really lame, like his recent imploding building stunt. So stupid. And his team of phony volunteers, preps, and commentators make it even more pathetic. I appreciate the complexity of many of his illusions such as his extensive levatation tricks i.e. from building to building (Wtf), but as for his his david blane-aries (public spectacles) they are nothing short of embarrassing. My theory regarding the sawing in half (number 10) is that the woman had no legs to begin with. However when Criss Angel sawed himself in half and let people walk between his torso and his legs… yea wtf

And yea I dont really consider testing the limits of human endurance as magic or illusion. David Blaine will tell u himself those are not magic tricks, he’s just challenging his self. This list sorta blurred that line, but still a great job.

yeah i will agree with you on that one, criss angel is more of an actor than a proper magician.
But in saying that its pretty bad magical ethics to openly bash other magicians and/or reveal there secrets, so i wont say too much or confirm how any of his illusions are done. I do however appreciate his worldwide popularization of the art, he’s certainly bought it to a new level

Wether endurance artist, illusionist, or magician, at the end of the day it is all entertainment for us spectators, and you have compiled a very interesting list for us to enjoy
Thanks Kyran Wray!

I love magic! Criss Angel, David Blaine, And Penn and Teller are my favorites! Great list, Of course, The saw in half I like most is the one where Criss Angel is laying on the table and this sawblade comes down. It’s much better in my opinnion.

#96. hoo boo ….lol hahahahahaha, excellent. And when a magician asked him how he did it, he said you have to be magical, or in other words, you need to have a certain magicativity.

Just here to knock on the “ice-tomb” trick. That stupid masked magician from fox showed that one a long time ago, there was a compartment underneath with another person in it, and they took turns standing there, using the cover of the misting they did to keep the blocks frozen.
Also, the term shouldn’t be “freezing” a person in ice, ice is a very good insulator, inside the masked magicians example the tomb was 22 degrees Celsius of something similar.
I know they are all just illusions, but the truth behind the ice tomb was too lame for me to ignore.
