Top 10 Simpsons Episodes

For the last week, the site has been up and down as we have moved to a new host in California. Now that we are finally getting settled, it seems like a great time for us to all sit back and enjoy the new digs! The Simpsons has been around now for the better part of twenty years, and has become a staple on Sunday night television. From its humble beginnings as the crudely drawn yellow-hued family on the Tracy Ullman show, through its break away in December of 1989, and beyond up to its first feature film this past summer, The Simpsons has entertained and become ingrained in world-wide culture. The following ten episodes are by no means a complete list. In fact, just coming up with 10 was brain-meltingly difficult so I just chose the ones I could really relate to off the cuff. So please, feel free to inundate me with as many others as you can and I’d be happy to come up with a sequel in the future. Again, these are my opinion, but I do want yours, as well.

10. Deep Space Homer

The Simpsons – Giant Space Ants

Add to My Profile | More Videos

Homer becomes an astronaut! This cannot end well.

9. So It’s Come to This: A Simpson’s Clip Show

After Bart blows Homer up with a super-shaken can of duff on April Fools Day, stories about the original foolishness ensue.

8. Treehouse of Horror VI

A great Halloween episode featuring Homer rendered in 3D remarking, ‘Mmmm… Erotic cakes.”

7. Flaming Moe’s

After Homer explains the contents of a new drink called the Flaming Homer, Moe steals the recipe to boost sales at the bar. Much hilarity and Aerosmith!

6. The Blunder Years

Marge falls for the absorbency of a paper towel icon Homer knows as Chad Sexington, and dresses Barney accordingly. Oh, and Homer screams a lot about a past experience featuring a body in a quarry.

Homer discovers the basis behind his intolerable stupidity his a crayon lodged in his brain which Moe promptly removes. Homer becomes brilliant, then dumb again soon after it’s put back.

Sorry I couldn’t find a decent clip, but one of the best lines comes after Homer is smart and he says, “Who’s up for a trip to the library tomorrow? Notice i no longer say ‘libarry’ or ‘tomorry’. Great episode!

4. Guess Who’s Coming to Criticize Dinner?

Homer becomes a food critic and eventually loses the assistance of Lisa and begins using words like, ‘momato’ and ‘pasketti’, as well as ‘screw Flanders’ in his articles. Anger ensues, of course.

3. E-I-E-I (Annoyed Grunt)

Homer and family take up solace at a family farm and begin growing a cross-breed plant they call Tomacco after using nuclear fluid. According to Ralph Wiggum, “It tastes like gramma!”

2. Homer Vs. the 18th Amendment

After an old paper is discovered that proves Springfield is a dry city, Homer loses it and enlists the aid of Bart to start smuggling alcohol from his basement to Moe’s. Oh, in bowling balls. Sorry, no videos, but here’s some great lines.

1. The Mysterious Voyage of Homer

Homer takes a head-trip thanks to some Guatamalan insane peppers in his chili. He meets Johnny Cash the coyote and asks for help finding his soul mate. “Marge! Less artsy more fartsy!”

  • trebek

There’s so many that could be on this list. Good choices though.

My personal fave is “Weekend at Burnsie’s”

  • James

Last Exit To Springfield should be here, my personal favorite.

  • Jevanzz

My favourite episode is “A Streetcar Named Marge”, partly for the part John Lovitz played in it. It’s series 3, and it has the FUNNIEST commentary on it of all time. If you have the DVD, or know someone who does, it’s definitely worth watching.

  • Here’s one of the funniest Simpsons lines ever. Enjoy.

  • So many to enjoy, props to actually narrowing it down to 10.

  • AnotherEngine

The Hurricane, Lemon of Troy….both classics.

  • Buster

Marge Vs. The Mono-Rail was a good one, a little surprised it wasn’t on the list, but the episodes listed were all well picked.

  • Juggz / AnotherEngine: It’s to the show’s credit that we can all remember so many that have stuck in our collective brains. I could spout one-liners from this show all day long.

  • yaurt

The one when Bart goes on drugs! :))) It’s funny because it’s true! The major league basseball has satelites, they use to spy on us! :))

  • ben

i love flaming moe its one of my favs. so are the treehouse of horrors.

  • koop

One of my fav clips from the Simpsons is when “Christopher Walken” (Jay Mohr) reads Goodnight Moon.

  • angelina

Good list! There are so many to choose from. The “tomacco” episode is pretty good. The one where Homer gets really fat so he can work from home is particularly hilarious also. :)

  • koop: YES! I have that book for my kids and I can’t help but read it like that whenever I get the chance, though my Walken leaves a lot to be desired!

angelina: “Where’s the ANY key?” HA! Good call on that one!

  • JT

This was actually a really good list. However, my favourite episode will always be the ‘Trilogy or Errors’ one. Just so clever.

  • Emily

best list ever, and i haven’t even read it yet, lol

    The Simpsons rock!!

  • JT: Thanks! It was really tough to just whittle it down to 10 as I’m sure you can imagine!

  • 20Fan20

    Now thats a great list!

I think the chili feed episode needs to be on there. I love it when homer kicks the turtle.

  • Robert

    My Top 5 Simpsons Episodes

    1. Homer The Heretic
    2. Lisa’s Wedding
    3. Homer VS. The Eighteenth Amendment
    4. Marge VS. the Monorail
    5. Rosebud

  • Samiam

    Good choice!

    My personal favourites are:
-“You Only Move Twice”, guest starring Albert Brooks
    -“22 Short Films”
-“The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson”
    -“Lisa the Vegetarian”
    -“Homer the Great”

Ack, there’s too many to list! Best show ever :D.

  • JMurf

Aaah the one where Mr. Burns builds a casino?

    Lisa[crying]: I look like a monster
Homer: No lisa, the only monster is the gambling moster that has enslaved your mother. I call him Gamblor and its time to save her from its neon claws

  • Fallenangel

I like the ones that have something to do with Lisa, my #1 fav, is when Lisa developes a crush on her teacher, voiced by Dustin Hoffman. I LOVE The Simpsons. I litteraly grew up with them. They came out when I was in first grade.

  • Fallenangel

Oh yeah, and the Guatamalin insanty peppers, Great! You gotta love the Johnny Cash voice over. Great episode

  • 20fan20: It is sir! Look harder! ;-)

  • Amanda

This must be one of those personal choice thing, because pretty much none of my favourites are up there. They are good episodes, but my favourites include Homer’s long lost brother (Danny DeVito), and when Homer joined the baseball team with all the ringers. Also the Halloween one where Mr. Burns was Dracula. Classic. :)

  • Diogenes

well, you can tell by the shortness of breath on yall comentators that “the simpson’s” have run their coarse allready. What? those that started watching back in the begining are in their 30’s now! I understand the new wave of computer expression, and that many wish to relate and brag and blah and stamp a foot down for where they are at (even if it is connecting with a cartoon on tv) but, still, The Simpsons? Come On! Isn’t this just way past it’s prime to still be of any relevance?

Aaaawww! This is only a partial put-on. It looks as if I’ll have to watch throughout the year of re-runs just to get to the ones here that I havent seen…..Wait!No! I have seen all of these!
Easily could have been titled “Top Ten Homer Episodes”

Each year In New York , the local “FOX” station has a “Favorite Simpsons Poll”. And they tally up the score and play those for a week.

  • Diogenes: You had me going there for a second, pal! By the way, did you know that your handle is the name of the evil brother to one Alouisis Pendergast in many Preston and Child’s novels? Good stuff!

  • Diogenes

StewWriter: about the “handle”—This was pointed out to me by A. from the site N. I have yet to read the book (or books). I’ll look it up now that a second voice has mentioned it.Thanks.

  • The Blunder Years has one of my favorite Simpsons lines ever”

Burns: What are you doing in my corpse hatch?
Wiggum: Montgomery Burns, you’re under arrest for murder.
Burns: Uh, did I say “corpse hatch”? I meant, “innocence tube.”

  • EAL

  • Comesadre

Well tonight’s episode was pretty good.

  • Homer the Heretic is one of my favorite. The ending should be included on your Top 15 Movie (or The Simpsons)Endings.

    Consider this —

Homer: What’s the meaning of life?
God: Homer, I can’t tell you that. You’ll find out when you die.
Homer: I can’t wait that long!
God: You can’t wait six months?

God: The meaning of life is…

    –show ends–

  • I just stumbled upon this website earlier this afternoon, and I’ve been addicted ever since! I had to comment here first because my boyfriend and I are HUGE Simpsons fans. I love the inclusion of the “Flaming Moe’s” and “HOMR” episodes, those are two of my favorites! But there are so many great ones it’s hard to limit the list to just 10!

Glad I found you guys! :)

  • JJ

i love the simpsons and always will but after nearly 20 years i’m kinda sick of them too
family guy has replaced them as my favourite

  • JJ: Family guy is one of the few shows that I watch on TV. It is very funny.

  • breadpitt

nice list.. but come on, 10 is not enough

  • Dandelion

It’s hard to choose the best episodes, but your picks are pretty good.

  • aplspud

Stonecutters, and the chili cook off/soul mate one are my faves. Sorry so short, running to work.

  • fixfix

  • Mac

Oh! You missed my two favorites:

Tree House of Horror IV (#1F04) (The Devil and Homer Simpson, Terror at 5 1/2 feet)

    Cape Feare (#9F22)

  • petey mcgee

the episode “lisa the vegetarian” is tops in my book. so many quotable lines including the immortal exchange:

Homer: Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute. Lisa honey, are you
saying you’re *never* going to eat any animal again? What about
    Lisa: No.
    Homer: Ham?
    Lisa: No.
    Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad! Those all come from the same animal!
Homer: [Chuckles] Yeah, right Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

  • stugy

Two of my favorites were the one with the movementarians:

    “Na-na-na-na-na-fishing, i mean leader”

And the film festival episode with Jon Lovitz as the critic:

    “It was a gummybear”

  • Aah! I am so watching these when my roomate isn’t trying to watch a movie. I haven’t gotten sick of the Simpsons because I never really watched it that much.

  • Tats

No “Homer at the Bat”?! Awww.

  • Borg

It would have been nice to hear why these are the top ten Simpsons episodes. I used to be a big fan of the series, but they lost me a couple of seasons ago. The early episodes, especially the one with Michael Jackson helping Bart write a birthday song for Lisa, will always be close to my heart.

  • mooster

My favorites (by far), both from season 8: Bart After Dark, with that amazing musical number at the end, and The Mysterious Voyage of Homer, with the psychedelic hot peppers. Good stuff!

  • I think the funniest scene ever was the April Fool’s clip.

    “So thirsty…eh, whatcha gonna do?”

  • Adam W.

The one where homer gets medical marijuana is by far my favorite, with the best line ever… “They call em fingers, but i’ve never seen em fing.”

  • meh

Marge: All work and no play makes Homer go something something something.
Homer: Crazy? Don’t mind if I do!

  • Ginger Lee

    My own personal top:
    Joy of Sect
    Lisa the Vegetarian
    Bart Sells His Soul
    Some Enchanted Evening
    Lisa’s Substitute
    A Milhouse Divided
Treehouse of Horror I, II, & VII
    and Black Widower

I personally feel that the magic of the show waned after the eighth season or so, not that there isn’t some cleverness and fun in it. I think Mike Scully tapped out too soon and stretched his position out waaay to long.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • ffej

where’s the rock ‘n roll fantasy camp with the rolling stones episode?

  • jfried620

other great episodes (hope they weren’t all ready mentioned):

    Bart the General
    Mr. Lisa goes to Washington
    Homer at the Bat
    Bart the Lover
Black Widower (and other Sideshow Bob-featured episodes)
Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes?
    Mr. Plow
    The Summer of 4’6”
    Treehouse of Horror V
    Homer Badman
    Homer the Great
Who Shot Mr. Burns (pts. 1 and 2)
and the list goes on and on…

kind of inspires me to make my own top 10, the list above isn’t necessarily in order, but are some of my faves nonetheless.

  • jfried620

I’d like to make a correction:

The episode is called “The Summer of 4’2”, not 4’6”-my bad.

I also wanted to add ‘You Only Move Twice’ as one of the greatest and I’d highly recommend it

  • travis reece

you only move twice. the one when homer works for the evil corporation by hank scorpio, and he ends up owning the denver broncos. personal fave.

  • Wally

You have missed “Mr Plow”. Everything in this episode was perfect.

  • Pete

    Cape Feare
    Homie the Clown
    King Size Homer

    3 of the best

  • Manda

Well, since Family Guy is such a great chow maybe you could do a top list on them… also maybe a list on ALL of the Simpsons “headtrips”. (I like that phrasing.)

  • kd

The Joy of Sect … i need to find that clip! its so funny

  • albert0

Although I love the simpsons, in the UK they show every day @ 18:00, so I have seen virtually all the episodes, which sort of makes them seem worse. In general I prefer family guy and south park.

  • Burning Homer Simpson
  • KKing

This may not be the best place, but Family Guy (after 2002) is one of the worst-written shows ever. How many times can a person laugh in 22 minutes (only 12 if you take out the pointless flashbacks that mention a celebrity’s name) at someone falling down really fast, useless muttering dialogue (Peter and Stewie mostly), and musical numbers with Seth McFarlane singing? Really, what is funny about hearing a celebrity’s name, or seeing something they’ve done get blown out of proportion? Really?

  • KKing

And another thing, sure The Simpsons have passed their prime (perhaps around 2004), after like 15 seasons, but Family Guy passed their prime in 2002, after like two and a half decent seasons. If you want to see a show whose writing is consistent strong and funny, stick to Frasier and Seinfeld reruns.

  • KKing

Sorry, I’ll save it for the blog next time.

  • Manda

  • JMurf

    the casino one

‘No Lisa, the only monster here is the gambling monster that has enslaved your mother! I call him Gamblor, and it’s time to snatch your mother from his neon claws’

  • RoRii

The Mook The Chef and whatever…
i cannot control yself at that episode

‘can i still talk with my hands?’
    ‘how about my ears?’

‘im think of test driving that new lexuz hybrid’
‘ur a hybrid, half idiot, half moron’
‘whoa! where did that come from? whoa!’

  • Pippa

    My favourite episodes:
    – Homer’s Barbershop Quartet
    – Cape Feare (especially the rakes)
    – New Kid on the Block (where Homer sues the All-You-Can-Eat place!)
    – Bart the Daredevil
    – Brush with Greatness
    – Marge on the Lam (can anyone look at a vending machine in the same way ever again?).

And one of my top Homer quotes: “Ooh, so they have the Internet on computers now?”

  • Thewalkindude

I don’t know about this list, so many that really should be on here, and others that shouldn’t.

My personal top ten, in no particular order

    1. The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson
    2. Cape Feare
    3. Homer Badman
    4. Marge Vs. The Monorail
    5. Homer’s Triple Bypass
    6. Lisa’s First Word
    7. Treehouse of Horror V, although VI was also a strong one
    8. Homer’s Phobia
    9. Bart vs. Lisa vs. The Third Grade.
    10 Homer at the Bat

  • infallibleangel

I like the Frank Grimes episode. Haha. Oh, poor Frank Grimes… or Grimy, as he liked to be called.

  • bored

Lisa the SkepticSome other good episodes:

    The Springfield Files
    Homer the Heretic
    Bart Sells his Soul
    The Crepes of Wrath
    Homer Badman
    Lisa’s Wedding
    The Joy of the Sect
    Homer to the Max
    The Monkey Suit
    Stark Raving Dad

  • Joey

Rosebud and Itchy&Scratchy Movie are the funniest episodes

  • miss-erica-court

great list…though the blunder years should’ve been further up the list…even thinking of that epi makes me laugh :)

i also like the hurricane episode -giggles- and “das bus”, only fully appreciated after a year of studying lord of the flies :P

  • veggy :)

The best of those 10 has to be the Treehouse of horror VI. Homer 3d is the pick of the bunch in that.
    Bart “Dad’s sounding cautiosly optimistic…”

  • seymour-butts

    Some of my favourites:
Bart of Darkness (when bart thinks flanders murdered his wife)
    You only move twice
    Das Bus
The Boy Who Knew Too Much
    Homer vs the 18th Ammendment
    Homer’s Enemy

    Homer At The Bat
    Treehouse Of Horror V
    Deep Space Homer
    Marge vs. The Monorail
    Flaming Moe’s
    Bart’s Comet
    The Springfield Connection

  • BB

Homie The Clown will always be stand-out for me. So many great character moments and film references.

But my all-time favourite Simpson’s line is the immortal:

“Do you kids want to be like the real UN, or do you want to squabble and waste time?”

  • thuss

why cant we watch any videos?

  • Obuibo

I am absolutely shocked that you put the episode that I most fondly remember as number one, with near countless episodes to choose from, I really didn’t expect that.

The line that sticks with me most is…

Homer: “I think I’ve brain my damage!”

  • ligeia

Hate to be the one to point it out – and it seems strange that its gone unnoticed for so long – but in the episode HOMR, Moe didn’t take the crayon out of Homer’s brain, he put it back in. The old crayola oblongata. My favourite episodes (I don’t know the names) – when Homer goes to clown college, the one with Grampa’s miracle sex drug and the episode where Lisa dates Ralph Wiggum.

  • ligeia

Oh and the monorail episode. Mono-doh!

  • gbus

Missing cape feare, marge vs. the monorail, homer at the bat, last exit to springfield

    Not a very good list.

  • Pingback: nerd.noggin » Bored Again?? Look at this stuff!()

  • pobloke

This list is pretty off, way too many new episodes. You were in the right area with viajo mysterioso and homer vs. 18th amendment. Definitely need last exit to springfield and you only move twice in there somewhere.

  • stuartyc

the best episode by a million miles is the one where they move to a new town and get involved with an international terrorist called scorpio, i think he is voiced by albert brooks. that just blew me away. every single line seemed to be hilarious. it was so different to any other episode i’ve ever seen. homer tells scorpio his family want to move back to springfield. “its ok let them go stay here we’ll go bowling” just insanely brilliant. i also liked the pierce brosnan episode where they get a futuristic house. oh wait i just remembered a fairly recent one about a gym teacher ( i think it was also al brooks voiced him) and he kept yelling “Bombardment!” and hitting the kids with the gym balls. hilarious stuff.

  • stuartyc

“can’t stop now homer im in the middle of a fun run!”

“good work homer, when you go home there’ll be an extra storey on your house”

  • phil

aye, actually about year 2001 jsut before 9/11 skyone had a poll of the best eps ever and homer simpson vs new york city topped it. then they stopped showing it for 5 years cos it has the twin towers in it

  • stuartyc

i almost forgot, the one where homer catches apu cheating with the squishee girl…and he walks backwards all the way home then a little dream bubble appears and its him walking backwards in it.

Apu – You’ve had less than 8 kids havent you havent you!

and another great one is where homer befriends ned and just kind of walks creepily through the hedge that divides their houses.

  • maximuz04

  • sallysweet

Homer at Bat was a great episode, too.

Best quote from the clip show: “You couldn’t fool your mother on the foolingest day of the year with an electrified fooling machine!”

  • Nadine

“I Love Lisa” When Ralph has a crush on Lisa. “I choo-choo-choose you”. It doesn’t get much better then that.

And I agree with the whoever said to watch the commentary for “A Streetcar Named Marge”, John Lovitz is hilarious in it!

One of my favourite quotes is in the episode Bart Gets An Elephant, where Homer is stuck in the tar and says…
“I’m pretty sure I can squirm my way out. First I’ll pull my legs out with my arms. Now I’ll pull my arms out with my face.”

  • G

I don’t think i’ve any particular favourite episodes but Lisa the Vegetarians hilarious…”its just a little airbourne…it’s still good, It’s still good”
The treehouse of horror episode take on the shining, and i can’t remember the name of it but the episode when santa’s little helper has pups and Burns steals them to make a Suit…”see my vest”…best Simpsons song ever…..:)

  • Annie

One of my favorite recent ones is Marge Gamer. I also love Itchy and Scratchy Land and the Christmas episode with Gary Coleman.

    • Jonathan Novak

Absolute gold: The City of New York Vs Homer Simpson, Behind the Laughter and Homer at the Bat.

      We’re talking softbal
      From Maine to San Diego
      Talking softball
      Mattingly and Canseco
      Ken Griffey’s grotesquely swollen jaw
Steve Sax and his run-in with the law
      We’re talking Homer
      Ozzie and the Straw

  • freakclub

The best Simpsons episode is “BART THE GENIUS.” Period.

  • Flamy

    what about Lemon of Troy?

  • Koonosius

My personal favorite is Sherry Bobbins. Hilarious song and of course very well written.

  • Coz

"Homer's Enemy" is my all time favorite, and some that are mentioned here are also favorites: King sized Homer (one of the biggest belly laughs in my life is when he hijacks the ice cream truck and tries to warn everyone about "poisonous gas"), Homer badman (portrait of an ass grabber!!!!), and Stonecutters (mostly because Patrick Stewart has an awesome sense of humor and comedic timing).
But really, "Homer's Enemy" tops them all, because it is so damned sadistic!

  • Will Trame

I’m not overly fond of “The Simpsons” but any programme that lasts longer than “Gunsmoke” has to have some redeeming qualities. The three episodes I’m fond of are (sorry, I can’t recall the titles):

The one featuring Mick jagger, Keith Richards and Tom Petty where Homer and his boozing buddies join a rock and roll summer camp.

The one where Homer takes prescription marijuana. Wear your love like heaven indeed.

    “The Prisoner” satire.

  • ian

what about the "behind the laughter" episode?

  • doh

Don't remember the name of the episode, but the one where Marge's fear of flying is exposed.
Easily the most quotable episode ever.
    Surprised no one mentioned it.

  • dick wickham

no clown collage and when they visit dr marvin monroe in in firs ever serise …… treehouse is where bart turn homer in jack in the box……monkey paw or homer has dream about sleeping…..or when homer get lost in wood……mean how hell can u not put them in the top ten

  • I dont know the actual names of the episodes but the cape fear one with Sideshow Bob singing the HMS pinafore! Troy Mclure marries Selma and does the musical planet of the apes…help me dr zeus… and the X files episode with the alien line up that has Alf, Chewbacca, Marvin the martian, Gort and Kang or Kodos. Duff gardens with Homer and Marge watching the erotic adventures of Hercules featuring Norman Fell as Zues! the stonecutters, the one when the power plant goes on plan…also monorail and streetcar named Marge and the tree house of horrors when Homer sells his soul for a donut!

  • Rachel

"It's like there's a party in my mouth, and everyone's invited!"

  • bt21

Last Exit to Springfield is the best!!! Wonder wy it’s not listed here, anyway, its a great list nonetheless!

    Favorite Quote:

    Homer vs.the Eighteenth Amendment

Homer: “To alcohol… the source of, and solution to, all of life’s problems!!!!”

    Favorite moment:

Lenny: So long dental plan! Homer recall: “Lisa needs braces… DENTAL PLAN!!!” (repeatedly!!!)

  • Eddie Floyd

    3. “Kamp Krusty”

    4. “Burns Verkaufen Der Kraftwerk”

    5. “The Old Man and the Lisa”

    6. “Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy”

    7. “Much Apu About Nothing”

    8. “Lisa the Greek”

    9. “Cape Feare”

    10. “Lisa the Beauty Queen”

  • cannuk

i love the episode where homer stops going to church, and starts his own religion.ever notice GOD has 5 fingers but all the other characters have 4. also the episode where ralph falls in love with lisa, because she is the only one who gave him a valentine.

  • cannuk

homer simpson portrait of an ass grabber.

  • Juri

Troy McClure: Don’t kid yourself, Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he’d eat you and everyone you care about!

Homer: I’m normally not a praying man, but if you’re up there, please save me, Superman.

Comic Book Guy: Oh, loneliness and cheeseburgers are a dangerous mix.

Homer: Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try.

Duffman: Duffman can never die, only the actors who play him! OOH YEAH!

Apu: Please do not offer my god a peanut.

Ed Begley Jr.: I prefer a vehicle that doesn’t hurt Mother Earth. It’s a go-cart, powered by my own sense of self-satisfaction.

Moe: Call this an unfair generalization if you must, but old people are no good at everything.

Homer: Well, I hope you’ve learnt your lesson, Lisa; never help anyone.

  • guyfawkes

I think that “Homer Simpson vs the city of New York” should be on this list.

  • Name

i really think matt groening should make list after all HE’S THE TRUE EXPERT

Excellent selections for the list, and I agree with the majority, however The Mysterious Voyage of Homer is one of my least favourite episodes ever. I didn’t really find it all that funny. I agree with many of the comments saying that Homer the Heretic and Weekend at Burnsie’s are two of the best. Another personal favourite of mine is the one with Stampy the elephant.

i agree, that must be the best episode ever

My favorite is the Bond spoof involving Scorpio… what was the title? Esp. the end where Scorpio gives Homer the Denver Broncos (Homers dream was to own the Cowboys), watching the ball bounce off the receiver’s helmet, and Homer says to Marge, “ohhh, you wouldn’t understand.”

    Family guy is better.

Where’s the itchy and scratchy land episode? you know the one… where nothing could possiblie go wrong. I mean possibly go wrong….. that’s the first thing that’s ever gone wrong.

homer at the bat should be on the list

What an absolutely terrible list. First, “The Mysterious Voyage of Homer” was pretty much THE turning point for the show. It is where the simpsons went from being witty and clever to odd and looney tunes-esque. In fact, i’d put it at number 1 for the list of episodes that changed the simpsons from hilarious to terrible.

Next, all the best episodes were in seasons 3-7, with 4-6 being the absolute pinnacle of the show. The jokes were rapid-fire and were extremely witty and original. Season 8 was hit or miss, and then season 9 was when Mike Scully took over and officially ruined the show for good.

Third, your entries for 1,3,4,5,6,9 shouldn’t be anywhere close to being on this list.

Finally, where are the following episodes? the softball episode, the monorail episode, Mr burn’s casino, bart joining the junior campers. also, you didn’t even pick the best treehouse of horror episode.

    Seriously, what a terrible list.

Oh, and i also forgot the Itchy and Scratchy Episode and the Duff Gardens episode.

    Trash of the titans!

“Pops?, I’m only two years older than you are”
“Look, do we really want old man Patterson with his finger on the button?”
W..w.what button? Where am I? Who took my false teeth?”

Why does anybody even bother to put video clips with these lists. This list, as have so many in the past, has every damn clip disabled, leaving me, as usual, with the feeling I have just been cruelly teased and left high and dry.

Helpful information. Lucky me I found your website by chance, and I am surprised why this twist of fate did not happened in advance! I bookmarked it.

You lost me at “clip show.”

King size homer is a classic!
Also, Stonecutters, Mr. Plow and Homie the Clown are some of the best episodes ever made.
