Top 10 Badass Swords
Published on March 9, 2008 - 226 Comments
I have always been a fan of characters in video games, television shows and movies who know how to wield a mighty bladed weapon. This has led to my often pricy hobby of knife and sword collecting. Any fool can use a firearm, but it takes real skill to effectively slash and hack your way through your foes. These swords are in no particular order since each has their own uniqueness and story to go with them. I tried to balance out the equation by providing swords from movies both recent and less recent. Please feel free to leave anything I should have included in this list in the comments.

Wielded by: Lion-O of The ThunderCats
Kicking off the list at number 10 we have The Sword of Omens. Any child of the 80’s should remember this cartoon series. More mighty than anyone else of his age, young Lion-O was only 12 years old when he and his Thunderian teammates sought refuge on Third Earth while their home planet of Thunderia was being destroyed.
Upon arrival, Lion-O and his allies fought against the tyrannical Mumm-Ra and his hordes of evil fiends who sought to not only destroy The Thundercats, but also obtain great power from The Eye of Thundera, the jewel inlayed within the hilt of The Sword of Omens, which is the source of The Thundercats’ own power.

Wielded by: The Bride in Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2
This particular sword is artistically used by one of the most ass kicking females to ever grace the silver screen within the past several years. After being betrayed and nearly beaten to death by her would-be cohorts, The Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, and then having a bullet put through her head by Bill himself; The Bride is left inside of a chapel to die.
Why not? After all, who could possibly survive a point blank gunshot to the head? The Bride that’s who!
She very slowly recovers and eventually seeks the guidance of a couple of highly secretive and skilled individuals, one of whom is the infamous Sonny Chiba whose character is the long since retired Japanese sword-crafting legend Hattori Hanzo. One month is spent crafting her katana. After Hattori’s long and arduous task is completed The Bride is both justifiably relentless and unstoppable in seeking vengeance against those who wronged her.

Wielded by: Conan in Conan The Barbarian
As a young boy Conan witnessed his entire village get pillaged and destroyed by the evil warlord Thulsa Doom. After his mother and father are murdered Conan, being one of the few survivors of Doom’s pillage, is sold into slavery. During this time he grows in both age and in strength eventually being put in the rings of the gladiators to fight for the entertainment of others. He is a formidable opponent and wins fight after fight until his slave owner decides to send him out east to hone his skills as a fighter by learning to fight with a sword. Then one day he is simply set free.
During his journey away from slavery he stumbles upon an old tomb deep within the side of a mountain. Buried there is an Atlantean king sitting on a throne with his royal garments adorning him and a mighty sword at his side. Conan takes the sword and decides to find the warlords who destroyed his village and murdered his family.

Wielded by: King Arthur in Excalibur
Not only is this sword very well known in the movie arena, it is also included in countless pieces of classic literature. Given to King Arthur by The Lady of the Lake, Excalibur is the true sword of swords and can only be obtained by the true of heart. In many versions of the story the sword is imbued with magical powers which aid King Arthur in his battles.
A lot of confusion between Excalibur and the Sword in the Stone has arisen through time. From the information I have gathered the two stories mention separate swords though there is still some debate about that. Regardless of how you came to know the famous name of Excalibur, you must admit that it is a fine piece of legendary weaponry. So the next time you are walking near a lake look for The Lady. She just might have something to give to you.

Wielded by: The Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow
The classic 1820 story of The Legend of Sleep Hollow by Washington Irving was again adapted to film in 1999. As the story goes, Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate and put a stop to the Headless Horseman who has been terrorizing the town. Riding upon a black horse, The Headless Horseman stalks his seemingly random victims at night and uses an ominous looking double edged sword to remove the heads of those unfortunate souls. The motives behind the murders are eventually unraveled as Crane’s investigation continues. The real twist for me is that Christopher Walken is The Headless Horseman.

Wielded by: Dar in The Beastmaster
This movie is one of my personal favorites and the sword Dar uses is equally impressive. There is an evil priest Maax who has revealed to him a prophecy concerning the birth of a child who will eventually kill him years later. Maax is determined to put a stop to this at once and sends one of his evil minions out to find this unborn child, brand it with a sign of their evil deity then and sacrifice it. As fate would have it the baby is saved by a man who lives in the village of Emur. This is where Dar grows to be a strong young man.
Eventually Dar realizes that by being branded with the sign he was given the ability to psychically communicate with animals and this power will come in handy after his entire village and all of its inhabitants are slaughtered by the wicked Jun Horde. It seems that Maax has been looking for Dar all these years and his search has led him to the village of Emur.
Dar survives the attack and as the last living member of the Emurite clan he seeks vengeance and uses his adoptive father’s mighty sword along with his psychic power to fulfill his destiny and make the prophecy become a reality.

Wielded by: Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings trilogy
Sting is the perfect sword for someone who is as small as a hobbit. In the hands of a normal sized human it would simply be an elaborate elfish dagger. Not so for the hobbit. Sting is the perfect short sword for Frodo and it also has magical properties and can detect the presence of orcs by glowing blue at the blade. Exceptionally sharp, the sword is engraved with the Sindarian phrase “Maegnas aen estar nin dagnir in yngyl im” which means “Maegnas is my name and I am the spider’s bane.”
It came into hobbit hands when Frodo’s adoptive uncle Bilbo Baggins stole Sting from a band of orcs and used it to fight with. The name Sting was given to the sword after Bilbo’s encounter with a bunch of huge arachnids. Bilbo used it many times over the years until Frodo required a weapon for himself as he set out on the quest to destroy The Ring of Sauron.

Wielded by: He-Man in He-Man and The Masters of The Universe
I grew up watching this cartoon series as a child so I had to throw this one on here. Looking back I now realize all of the sexual innuendoes within the series. As the regular average Prince Adam no one really cares about him, but when he takes the power sword out, points it in the air and shouts “By the power of Grey Skull…I have the power!” he is magically transformed into He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, capable of any feat. No one ever figures out that they are one in the same person despite looking identical.
Although his sword is mighty and magical, he rarely uses it. Instead he uses his immeasurable strength and wit to overcome his foes and constantly defeat Skeletor. If you are a die-hard He-Man fan still to this day then read below.
Wielded by: Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride
Inigo is a straight shooting Spaniard and the child of a sword-craftsman. Whilst learning the craft, Inigo’s father was approached by a unique man of nobility who requested a very custom and equally costly rapier; a jeweled rapier that would befit a six fingered man.
After the extensive completion of this sword, the six fingered man refused to pay the agreed amount for the rapier and subsequently murders young Inigo’s father right in front of him. The six fingered man left Inigo alive, but not before he gave him two scars, one across each cheek.
Romantic and steadfast, Inigo, in his life-quest to avenge his father’s tragic and unwarranted death, would eventually track down the six fingered man and slay him with the very same rapier.

Wielded by: William Wallace in Braveheart
The character of William Wallace was magnificently portrayed by Mel Gibson in this epic film. I remember watching the movie for the first time and my jaw dropped when I saw that massive sword strapped to his back as he rode his horse around his fellow countrymen in preparation for battle. Although the film is a classic a lot of the actual facts about the real life William Wallace have been lost.
It is known that Wallace was a fighter against the oppressive English rule during the 1200’s, but the huge sword used in the movie by Gibson was most likely never actually used by the real William Wallace. The real William Wallace’s sword is on display in Stirling, Scotland at The National Wallace Monument and it looks nothing like what is seen in the movie. That doesn’t stop this huge two handed sword from being an awesome weapon though!

Wielded by: The Jedi/Sith in the Star Wars series
Come on now! You didn’t really think that I would leave this awesome weapon off the list did you? While the blade is not made of metal like the other 10 this weapon could not be ignored.
When one thinks of Star Wars the lightsaber should spring immediately to mind. Luke had one, Vader had one, Yoda had one; the one single weapon that you need after you choose to pursue a life working with the power of the force is a lightsaber, no matter what side of the force you choose.

I think that Arwen’s sword should have been on there! It was pretty.
2. kiki - March 9th, 2008 at 3:54 am

3. Jonobot - March 9th, 2008 at 3:55 am

4. turdferguson - March 9th, 2008 at 3:59 am
Nerds.
5. Mike - March 9th, 2008 at 4:27 am
Personally, I think Excalibur surpasses all of these swords. Also, I didn’t know that Conan’s sword was special; just thought he found it in that cave and he thought that dead skeleton was Krum or something…
6. Me - March 9th, 2008 at 4:39 am
errrmmm u missed 4 of the best swords ever. clouds sword from fina fantasy (buster sword) Links sword from zelda (Master sword) Dante’s sword from devil may cry (sparda) and finaly the green destiny from crouching tiger hidden dragon
7. cparker - March 9th, 2008 at 5:00 am
this was a really good idea for a list. Lightsaber, I think, is definitely the coolest and most effective.
8. Yaji - March 9th, 2008 at 5:08 am
Tetsusaiga and Tenseiga from Inuyasha, Dragon Slayer from Berserk, Buster Sword and Masamune from FFVII, Suul Edge from Soul Calibur
9. Ouchmaker - March 9th, 2008 at 5:38 am
Nice list, although I don’t agree the order (Excalibur should be way higher), and given the amount of swords in movies and series, etc, there is no way they could fit in this list.
Highlander sword (the katana), Cloud’s Buster sword, Sould Edge from Soul Calibur/Soul Edge, Ichigo’s sword (practically all the swords from Bleach).
10. BigOzbowski - March 9th, 2008 at 5:55 am
What about the sword from ‘The sword and the sorcerer’? That thing was badass!!!
11. Dan - March 9th, 2008 at 6:09 am
Me is right.
You should have included the Green Destiny from Crouching Tiger
12. zoromihawk - March 9th, 2008 at 6:14 am
How about Aragon’s sword from LOTR and Green Destiny from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon?
13. Hitesh - March 9th, 2008 at 6:21 am
Hello? The Green Destiny from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
14. Miss Destiny - March 9th, 2008 at 6:22 am
YES! Thank you for including Inigo Montoya’s sword. The Princess Bride is my favorite movie.
Excalibur should be number one, it’s only the most legendary sword ever! Someone mentioned the Master Sword, which was badass. I think I’d like to add the sword of Godric Gryffindor from Harry Potter. It’s like, badass lite.
15. Shabab - March 9th, 2008 at 6:38 am

19. AussieDave - March 9th, 2008 at 6:53 am
He does point out at the top of the list that this list is not in order as each sword as its own unique story, so don’t get too upset about the order
20. filipinoknight - March 9th, 2008 at 6:54 am
sting was cool but you should’ve included narsil/anduril the sword of the king of gondor. macleods kitana is better than the brides kitana. the saracens sword from robin hood prince of theives(i know i wouldnt want to come face to face with that)
21. Andrea - March 9th, 2008 at 7:12 am
so glad someone said link’s master sword. but which version? from twilight princess or the earlier games? i think the master sword in twilight princess is the best.
22. Me - March 9th, 2008 at 7:16 am

23. corinthian0430 - March 9th, 2008 at 7:22 am
WONDERFUL list! hope we can get more of these kind of lists
24. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 7:41 am
My list made it! YEAH! Thanks Jamie!
and yes…I am a nerd!
25. Urban - March 9th, 2008 at 7:49 am
Definitely missing the Final Fantasy swords. Travis Touchdown’s Beam Katana in “No More Heroes” is pretty badass as well.
26. Harsha - March 9th, 2008 at 7:50 am
How about Cloud Strife’s sword from Final Fantasy: Advent Children!…Or is that classified as a plank!
27. Ginger Lee - March 9th, 2008 at 7:57 am
I’m partial to The Sword of the Daywalker, Blade’s sword in the movie trilogy. Even though I hated the movie I liked the sword that Eragon was given in “Eragon”.
And lets not forget Miho’s swords in Sin City…oh wait, they were the same as The Bride’s in Kill Bill, Tarantino loaned Rodriguez the katanas for the deadly pixie.
28. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 7:59 am
I did not choose any particular order for the swords…except for the lightsaber. I wanted to kind of mess with the people who were reading the list and wondering when the hell the lightsaber was going to show up on there.
and Miss Destiny (#14): I remember seeing a comment you recently wrote (I think it was you) where you mention The Princess Bride. That comment was a part of the reason that I was inspired to write this list in the first place. I love The Princess Bride myself.
29. Ravyn - March 9th, 2008 at 8:01 am
To those who are mentioning swords from games: If you read the opening, it clearly states that this list is a list of swords from movies and tv shows. Swords from video games can make it’s own seperate list. Which I hope that the Murasame and the Masamune get included.
30. fivestring63 - March 9th, 2008 at 8:02 am
I have one almost identical to #9.
It’s not actually a sword, but I’ve always liked the Kukris.
31. Scottish bloke - March 9th, 2008 at 8:20 am
re: William Wallace: It’s “Stirling” in Scotland, not “Sterling”
32. Csimmons - March 9th, 2008 at 8:23 am
Awesome list! I always loved lightsabers!
33. Matato - March 9th, 2008 at 8:39 am
If literary swords were included, Elric’s Stormbringer makes all these swords look flimsy and weak. It doesn’t just kill you, it eats your soul! No heaven, no hell, no reincarnation. You’re not just dead, you’re permanently deleted!
34. stevenh - March 9th, 2008 at 9:00 am
BrotherMan:
These are excellent choices, given the criteria that you’ve set out.
As a collector of actual swords (not ’show replicas’ like these), it is a pleasure to see these.
Thank you
ps. Unfortunatly you will have to repeat that these are in no particular order several times
35. EvilWizardGlick - March 9th, 2008 at 9:01 am
Screw the bride sword, Zatoichi’s cane sword was much cooler. Matter of fact how come NO Asian swords are listed?
The very least a belt sword could have been posted.
36. stevenh - March 9th, 2008 at 9:08 am
EvilWizardGlick:
And what, pray tell, is Item #9?
37. mitchsn - March 9th, 2008 at 9:14 am
Ummmm not one mention of Connor MacLeod’s (originally Ramirez’s)sword from Highlander?
The Kurgan’s sword was pretty sweet too.
38. ChuChu353 - March 9th, 2008 at 9:16 am
Xena’s sword and chakram
39. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 9:23 am
(#32) Csimmons: What else was I to do with all this damn snow trapping people in their houses all weekend long? I started writing another list too, but instead I decided to post the idea in the forums to see what kind of response it received.
40. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 9:33 am
(#34) stevenh: Thanks for the thumbs up! You can buy an exact remake cast from the same mold of the original Beastmaster sword crafted by the same man in the same fashion as it was made back in the early 80’s for the film. It was made my a man name Vic Anselmo and he is creating this sword for whoever wants one. It does not come cheap though! It is around $3,500 to get one. If I only had a spare $3,500 lying around…
To all: I did consider putting a few video game swords on here. But what inspired me is reading one of Miss Destiny’s comments about The Princess Bride and then my mind started thinking about all of the cool movies and t.v. shows from my childhood that had a main character slashing people up with a cool looking sword. Before I knew it I had thought of 10 people that I can recall having a unique looking blade so I figured why not make a list?
41. scottra - March 9th, 2008 at 9:40 am
How is the Princess Bride sword even remotely cooler then Conan’s? I call shenanigans!
42. scottra - March 9th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Doooooh! Why do I post without reading first? I call shenanigans!
43. Butterfish - March 9th, 2008 at 9:43 am
What about McLeod’s 2000 year old katana in Highlander? Formerly the property of the convincingly accented Ramirez, Connor beheads several immortals before using the sword to win the Prize by killing a man called Clancy.
44. EricB - March 9th, 2008 at 9:47 am
how can there be a badass sword list without the buster sword??
http://blades4you.com/oscommer.....s/8002.jpg
tell me that shouldnt be on there
45. Budro5353 - March 9th, 2008 at 9:55 am
Something interesting about the bride’s sword. It was inspired (and actually supposed to be) the sword that Bruce Willis uses in the pawn shop in Pulp Fiction. Granted, that particular sword was not as ornate or cool. But when Uma and Quentin were beginning the script (while filming Pulp Fiction) they directly quote that sword as the inspiration for the bride.
Also, I’m glad someone else is willing to pay homage to the Thundercats. I had a small sword as a kid, and used to play Thundercats with my friends. Obviously, because I had the sword, I got to be Lion-O… Good times…
46. Rexmortis - March 9th, 2008 at 9:55 am
The Sword and the Sorcerer had the Triple Bladed Sword that shot out at enemies and the hilt turning into a dagger. In my opinion was the greatest sword. Excalibur as well should be listed as #2 in my opinion. No other sword is as recognized as Excalibur. But for shear bad assness…Triple Blade
47. Rokas - March 9th, 2008 at 9:55 am
Your comment about not needing skill to use a firearm is woefully ignorant of reality. You clearly have not tried firing a gun nor have you even consulted a person who knows about them.
It takes just as much skill to place a .50 inch bullet in someone’s head at 1-mile than it does to crudely swing a blade and hack at someone’s torso like a maddened lumberjack. I’ll take the option that doesn’t expose me to being hacked at back.
48. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 10:07 am
In all reality Rokas, I own many firearms as well and I totally agree with you and since my brother is a marine he has given me a few pointers on shooting a gun.
I guess I should have wrote something like “Though it takes skill to use a firearm it takes a totally different skill to wield a sword.”
49. 96Eclipsed - March 9th, 2008 at 10:10 am
A list of swords, some mentioned:
1. Connor’s Lion-headed Katana and Duncan’s Dragon-Headed swords
2. Kurgan’s Sword
3. Kikuchiyo’s(Toshiro Mifune) huge katana from Seven Samurai
4. Arwen’s sowrd Hadhafang
5. Elric’s Stormbringer
6. Aragorn’s Andúril/Narsil
7 Drizzt’s Icingdeath and Twinkle

9. Green Destiny from CTHD
10. Worf’s Bat’leth
11. Zatoichi’s cane
12. The Master Sword from Zelda
13. Kratos’ Blades of Chaos
14. Samurai Jack’s father’s Katana
15. He-man’s Sword of Power
50. Chris - March 9th, 2008 at 10:10 am
As cool as I think some videogame swords are, this list is better without them. If I may, however, there is *one* sword that should have been included. That would be the legendary Honjo Masamune.
While Masamune himself made a great many swords, when people speak of the Masamune sword they are typically referring to the Honjo Masamune. It was a symbol of the Shogunate for most of the Tokugawa era, and was lost shortly after World War II. Of all the legendary swords out there, this is one of the few (if any others) that actually existed.
51. Csimmons - March 9th, 2008 at 10:12 am
Brotherman:I don’t what you could have done! I personally plan to build a snowman.
52. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 10:15 am
Csimmons: I was thinking of going outside really soon and building one myself. Hell, there is enough to build a whole snow family.
53. Weazy - March 9th, 2008 at 10:15 am
Oh come on…what about the Mcloud Clan Sword and Rodiriguezes sword from Highlander series….they took souls…..and gave the user more power when they took a Head….
54. StrangeEmily - March 9th, 2008 at 10:17 am
Highlander, Crouching Tiger, Kingdom of Heaven, The Last Samurai, that badass sword in Return of The King?
Maybe you needed a top 20 list and the means for a poll so people could vote for the #1. :/ I’m a little dissapointed.
55. Csimmons - March 9th, 2008 at 10:19 am
brotherman: I plan to make a family too, although I saw a graphic snow woman and snowman at my friends house!
56. Thepennymachine - March 9th, 2008 at 10:20 am
This is by far the nerdiest list in the history of listverse.com.
57. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 10:26 am
Csimmons: I remember seeing some rather funny ones from pictures online somewhere. I thought about using a carrot a two rocks for something other than a nose and 2 eyes, if you catch my snow drift.
58. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 10:27 am
Thepennymachine: I was wondering why it took so long for someone to mention that!
59. NEEEEEEEEERD - March 9th, 2008 at 10:30 am
One word:
VOLTRON!
How can you people sit there writing about badass swords and NOT mention Voltron’s sword? You people make me sick.
60. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 10:34 am
I almost…ALMOST put Voltron’s sword on there. I never watched too much Voltron as a kid so I didn’t know too much about him.
I did find a website that was selling some very impressive looking G.I. Joe replica swords. There was one for both Snake Eyes and for Storm Shadow.
61. beatmonkey - March 9th, 2008 at 10:38 am
great list, but one of my favorites from the 80’s cartoons that could be included was Voltron’s.
62. King of the Horizon - March 9th, 2008 at 10:39 am
whats this??????????
no mastersword?
we people should not stand for such blasphemy
63. Csimmons - March 9th, 2008 at 10:42 am
brotherman: My friend just built a snowman against the fence and had the snow woman doing, well….
64. dan09 - March 9th, 2008 at 10:52 am
I know there’s been a production of Drizzt’s swords somewhere. Put them on here. Twinkle + Icingdeath far surpass things like Sting… Though I’d still put William Wallace’s sword on top.
65. Eric - March 9th, 2008 at 10:59 am
Just to add a bit to the bad-ass-ness that is william wallace i actually got to go to the william wallace memorial in Stirling Scotland last year. Its this massive tower across the valley from Stirling castle, anyway more to the point,on display they had his sword! Wallace actually used a big ass claymore like in the movie, according to the plaque they had on the case in order for Wallace to have used a sword of that size properly he would have had to have been 6′6″ and wieght at least 240lbs!!!
66. bubba - March 9th, 2008 at 11:17 am
Um just a point of fact. For the listing of the Bride’s sword, you are actually showing a picture of Bill’s sword. Bill’s sword has the demon face, the Bride’s sword has a lion.
67. jfrater - March 9th, 2008 at 11:26 am
bubba: thanks for that - I have replaced the image with the bride’s sword.
68. Smerkis - March 9th, 2008 at 11:30 am
Good list, but aragorns sword is so much more badass then frodo’s. And blade’s swords deserves honorable mention, but maybe not on the list. And its appaling that Neither Connor nor Duncan MacLeod’s Highlander swords made the list. I love the thunder cats though
69. yazuki101 - March 9th, 2008 at 11:31 am
You should have included a picture of the real William Wallace’s sword, all gilded and bejeweled.
70. Nicodemus - March 9th, 2008 at 11:35 am
Some points of opinion:
- Excalibur has to be in the top 2-3, if not number 1.
- Connor MacLeod’s sword from Highlander (the Katana used by Adrian Paul’s character) should be included. Lose the Headless Horseman’s blade for his.
- Voltron’s sword is seriously awesome and should make the list.
- The sword reforged by the Elves for Aragorn, which summons the army of the dead, should take the place of Frodo’s glowing toothpick.
- Another Bonus: Lone Star’s Schwartz (given to him by Yogurt) in “Spaceballs;” extra bonus if you can include a screengrab from the scene where his Schwartz gets tangled up with Dark Helmet’s.
71. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Eric (#65); Wow! That is badass! The information I found (not from wikipedia thankfully) was that his sword was a basic Scottish claymore that was crafted nicely from royalty. I guess one of these years I will have to go to Scotland and see it for my own eyes.
Thanks for the update!
72. Angelina - March 9th, 2008 at 11:44 am
Brotherman: I thought I was the only one who loves Beastmaster!!! Awesome list!
73. kvh - March 9th, 2008 at 11:48 am
You completely forgot:
Coinspinner
Doomgiver
Dragonslicer
Farslayer
Mindsword
Shieldbreaker
Sightblinder
Soulcutter
Stonecutter
Townsaver
Wayfinder
Woundhealer
And don’t forget Rand’s “sword” that he can forge at will from the OP. What about Tizona or Coldada, the swords of El Cid? Durendal, once owned by Hector of Troy? Or even the Sword of Damocles?
List needs re-ordering.
74. cg - March 9th, 2008 at 11:52 am
What no McCleod sword from the Highlander?

(#72)Angelina: No no no! Dar was one of my childhood heroes! Glad to see someone knows the movie as well. I envied him being able to travel around with his panther (which I found out was actually a tiger dyed black).
76. thewebguy - March 9th, 2008 at 11:56 am
what about the sword from red steel?
JUST KIDDING! THAT GAME IS A JOKE.
77. WearShades - March 9th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
The Master Sword of Legend of Zelda fame deserves recognition.
78. Angelina - March 9th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Nooooo! I suppose the “ferrets” were rats with extra fur?? J/K! That movie is so awesomely cheesy. I used to watch it on Saturday afternoons when I was a kid. My favorite characters were the crazy green leech-in-the-ear guys! Ahh, memories!
79. Hobbit Historian - March 9th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
I believe Bilbo got Sting from Trolls, not Orcs. I can’t believe I know that.
80. Miss Destiny - March 9th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
For some reason every time I try to come to this list and comment it signs me out of the site, I tried three or four times and it’s not working.
But anyway, I’m glad I helped to inspire a list! I just read through all the comments and noticed that.
81. Amber - March 9th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Glad someone mentioned Drizzit’s scimitars…best swords weilded by drow!!
82. forti - March 9th, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Eh, no Sword of Gryffindor?
83. Sidereus - March 9th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Hobbit Historian:
Actually, Bilbo got Sting from Goblins, which were then referenced in the LOTR as Orcs. Either Tolkien thinks these names are interchangeable, he forgot they were supposed to be Goblins, or Bilbo made a mistake. In any case, trolls are never mentioned in regards to the attainment of Sting.
As for my opinion, I think Bilbo stretched the truth when telling the tail to Frodo to make his story sound more impressive. ^_^
84. BrotherMan - March 9th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
(#78)Angelina: Let’s hope they just kept the ferrets the way they were.
(#80)Miss Destiny: Who knows. Maybe this list would not have been without your input. Thanks again!
85. rodeograndma - March 9th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Brotherman you left out the most powerful sword there is according to O&A. Nice list.
86. Senate1 - March 9th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
I have to put my vote in for ZaToichi’s cane sword too.
Great list.
Bring out the true geek in me.
87. el duderino - March 9th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Excalibur means “cuts steel” or alternatively voracious, hard bellied and it does have magical properties, when properly wielded it kills whoever you strike with it - a good quality in a weapon. Wearing Excalibur’s sheath prevents blood loss, so a wounded king won’t bleed out from nicked arteries, also good to have.
This list is nerdy, I’d never engage in nerdy stuff like this.
88. Sakura - March 9th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
What about Cloud’s Sword in FF????
89. Phillies - March 9th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
no Master Sword???
90. Buster - March 9th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
I believe this list to be one man’s opinion on the subject of the greatest swords of all time.
That being said: Not everyone watches Anime you great nerds!
Cloud kicks ass, yes. Bleach is great, I know, but do you realize there are actually people on this earth who haven’t seen an episode of Naruto? Of Inu Yasha?
Not everyone is a crazed Otaku. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who collects anime and manga.
Chill, little nerds, chill.
91. IrishWalsh - March 9th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
I don’t think that is really Inigo Montoya’s sword. I have seen that movie more times then I care to admit and it just doesn’t look right. I think that one had a larger basket around the hand.
92. Obbop - March 9th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
Go ahead, bring forth thine sword.
I’m using my flame thrower.
I dub thee “Crispy Criters.”
93. Devocots@yahoo.com - March 9th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Forgot about the sword in my pants
94. Eyegore - March 9th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
Completely overlooking the most obviously badass sword ever to appear in a movie is stupid. Talon’s triple blade sword from the ‘The Sword and the Sorcerer’ should be number one. It’s omission renders this list invalid, and retarded.
95. el duderino - March 9th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
Devocots@yahoo.com, that’s not a sword. It’s a thimble.
96. j - March 9th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
sweet list. but what about highlander’s sword?
97. Csimmons - March 9th, 2008 at 3:08 pm

101. Pyrratus - March 9th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
The Witchking’s sword is probably the most badass in LOTR. Should be in Sting’s place.
It’s also the only LOTR sword I have replica of.
102. Jason Mac - March 9th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Vorpal blade?
“One two! One two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!

He went galumphing back.”

106. KatC - March 9th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Okay, okay…so this does betray my otaku nature (re: Buster) but some of my favorites are (in addition to some already included):
Byakuya Kuchiki’s Senbonzakura (Bleach)
Renji Abarai’s Zabimaru (Bleach)
Ichigo Kurosaki’s Zangetsu (Bleach)
The Second Hokage’s Raijin (Naruto)
Kakashi’s Raikin (Lightening Blade–Advanced Chidori) (Naruto)–okay, technically not a sword but fascinating anyway
Mugen’s Tsurgi (Samurai Champloo)
Jin’s Katana and wakizashi
But you know…maybe it isn’t just about the weapon but how they use it??
107. kris - March 9th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
I also seem to recall that Sting was taken from a gang of trolls, not orcs (Goblins), after Gandalf tricked them into loitering until the sun hit them and they turned to stone. Orcrist and Glamdring, if I remember correctly, came from the lair of the Barrow wight, after Bilbo’s dwarvish crew were rescuedfrom same, by Tom Bombadil.
Gosh, I am a nerd! I am 50 years old, and I read The Hobbit in high school.
108. Bilbo - March 9th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
After the three trolls William, Tom and Bert are turned to stone after Gandalf’s stalling, the Company finds the troll lair:
“They searched about and soon found the marks of trolls’ stony boots going away through the trees….Bilbo took a knife in a leather sheaf. It would have made only a tiny pocket-knife for a troll, but it was good as a short sword for the hobbit.”
Chapter II - Roast Mutton, The Hobbit
Then before meeting Gollum:
“…in slapping all his pockets…his hand came on the hilt of his little sword - the little dagger he got from the trolls…It shone plae and dim before his eyes…’So it is an elvish blade, too’, he thought.”
Chapter V - Riddles in the Dark, The Hobbit
109. Zak - March 9th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
You people have reading comprehension issues.
He stated, at the very beginning ( where one tends to find directions/instructions ), that the list was in ‘ no particular order ‘.
Depending on how many games, movies, books we’ve all experienced, we all have a ‘top10′ list in our heads of memorable weapons.
Bickering about what sword should be where is just silly - and ranking wasn’t even the piont of of the author.

How commercial.
112. Martin L - March 9th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
96Eclipsed: Good show on your own list of swords — especially for including Kikuchiyo’s blade from Seven Samurai. (A real Asian sword maven will tell you that his is not in fact properly a katana, but a no-dachi, which means “horse killer.”) Good job on your list as well, Brotherman.
Oh, and Rokas: couple little points here. First, the skills of sword and gun are entirely different, but both must be honed. It is not enough merely to hack away “like a maddened lumberjack”; it also helps to know how to parry (deflect) and thrust. And yes, having a gun keeps you out of the sword’s reach (though I have heard a story about a Ninja master and a Marine sharpshooter which may be Apocryphal, but if true could give you some pause — short form: the two were started at opposite ends of a football field, the Ninja with katana, the Marine with a full clip. At the end of three minutes, the Marine’s clip was empty, the Ninja was untouched, and he took the gun out of the soldier’s hand before — well, anyway.) BUT: swords do not jam, they do not misfire, and they never run out of ammo. (Considerably easier to clean, as well: only one moving part.)
113. theDEFENESTRATOR - March 9th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
don’t know if this was already mentioned but how about kensei/hiro’s sword in heroes?

The master sword from Zelda?, sweet swords though

Not to be picky, but while Lion-o was twelve when they left Thundera for 3rd Earth he was at least 25 when they got there do to his chamber NOT reducing his age cycle.
Great List

125. DiscHuker - March 9th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
well, when i began the list i was very disappointed to see the Bride’s Hattori Hanzo sword so high on the list. But, other than Conan’s iron, i really can’t argue any of those rated better. i didn’t realize that there were this many popular swords.
cool quote from hanzo about his sword…
“I can tell you with no ego, this is my finest sword. If on your journey, you should encounter God, God will be cut.”
126. Tonny SS - March 9th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Ummm.. Hello? “Master Sword” from the Legend of Zelda?
I’m gonna have to object some of these swords. Most particularly, Hattori Hanzo’s and William Wallace. They are just common sword man.
You also miss one of the most extraordinary sword in Japan. The Kusanagi. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kusanagi). From the corpse of nine-headed serpent that terrorized Japan, the hero took it and became the first Japanese emperor. Allegedly, the Kusanagi is being kept at Atsuta shrine and it is not shown to the public.
127. Nepheline - March 9th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
I think a great one that’s missing is Morgaine’s sword “Changeling” from C.J. Cherryh’s Gates Of Ivrel.
The damn thing has a space/time bending vortex that sucks people into another dimension and carries the secret knowledge of how to operate a series of galaxy wide worm-hole type travel gates.
Beat that…

130. filipinoknight - March 9th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Everyone is mentioning Clouds sword from ff7 I would rather have Squalls gunblade from ff8. And you would also have to mention sephiroths long sword from ff7.

So Glamdring, a sword that Gandalf used to slay a f*#king Balrog doesn’t qualify? C’mon.
134. filipinoknight - March 9th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
wizard i agree sting has its moments but glamdring was badass and why anduril/narsil, the blade that cut the ring from saurons hand and reunited the kingdom of gondor and middle earth should be on here
135. Heaven - March 9th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
I agree with the others… I am shocked, and a little offended, that the Master Sword from Zelda isn’t included in this list!
136. anthony p - March 9th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
people read the opening part would ya, no particular order and movie/tv only (ok yes ff7 advent children was a movie but a game first). I know im not the first to that but cut the guy some slack i thought it was a great list.
137. Tonny SS - March 9th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Well, may be the title should have been Top 10 Badass TV/MOVIE Swords.
138. Splarka - March 9th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Brotherman: That is a strange picture to choose for “Excalibur”.
That sword is a replica (either by Del Tin, or Museum Replicas) of a replica in the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. To read more about it see http://swordforum.com/swords/historical/gbs.html
It was made popular by appearing in a few episodes of Highlander, the Series: http://www.angelic.org/highlan.....othic.html
139. yong23 - March 9th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
great list; took me back.
my fav right now is the Energy Sword from Halo.
i can see why these swords are on the list, as they have endured as people’s fav’s all these years.
140. Uli - March 9th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
Pffft… No master sword?
141. YashaMaru - March 9th, 2008 at 11:45 pm
i feel this list was faulty, it is missing many great works.
and excalibur shouldn`t even be there, uglier piece of metal there never was.
how about zanbato? Nightmares soul edge? sigfrieds soul calibur?
Ryu Hayabusas Dabilahro (fully uppgraded)?
142. noonelikesyou - March 9th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
that Sword of Omens reproduction is awful- does anyone make a better one?
143. Moonglum of Elwher - March 10th, 2008 at 12:24 am
Hello? Stormbringer? Evil, POSSESSED SWORD that fights by itself and kills friends as often as foes? Drinks their souls and passes the energy on to the sword’s wielder? This list fails,
144. Major Wood - March 10th, 2008 at 1:36 am
If you ever do make a list of video game swords, the energy sword from Halo, the Dragon’s Tooth from Deus Ex, and Rebellion and Yamato from Devil May Cry should definitely be there.
145. Alucard - March 10th, 2008 at 4:18 am
You gotta love the comments on LIstverse, very enlightening are they. This past few days i been coming here just to catch up on the comments. Can we have like a top 20 or so comments? That would be hard wouldn’t it
146. jfrater - March 10th, 2008 at 4:21 am
Alucard: I would love to do a top comments list - but the problem is that we have over 43,000 comments! It is far too many for any one person to wade through to pick the best.
147. Critias - March 10th, 2008 at 6:58 am
These top lists keep getting more retarded with each passing SECOND!

Highlander??
Surprised that sword is not mentioned.
149. Mr. T - March 10th, 2008 at 7:17 am
This list fails. I can’t take the list seriously when the master sword from Zelda is absent.
150. Jet Piston - March 10th, 2008 at 7:53 am
I don’t know if anyone has already pointed this out, but Bilbo Baggins did not steal Sting from a band of orcs and use it to fight with. It was found in the hoard of the trolls after they had turned to stone, along with the swords Glamdring and Orcrist.
151. Bob - March 10th, 2008 at 8:08 am
Beowulf’s sword? The sword Zeus used to defeat the Titans? Roland’s sword?
Surely Excalibur is the greatest, though.
152. Zack - March 10th, 2008 at 8:11 am
No Buster sword?????
153. Oudein - March 10th, 2008 at 8:12 am
What about the massive sword wielded by Toshiro Mifune’s Kikuchiyo in the Seven Samurai? I don’t think it had a name, but it is so worthy.
154. grumpy - March 10th, 2008 at 9:03 am
What about that three bladed sword that shot the two outside blades? What was the name of that movie? Ahh….Sword and the Sorcerer.
155. Trout Slurpee - March 10th, 2008 at 9:16 am
Umm, are we all forgetting the crystal sword from Final Fantasy III. 9999 damage done by my Paladin thank you very much.
156. zn - March 10th, 2008 at 9:22 am
You have a mistake in the Beastmaster backstory… Dar couldn’t talk to animals because of the brand… he could talk to animals because he was bron in an animal (a cow, placed there so he could be stolen from his mother’s womb). This is also the reason his father hates him as he is an abomination.
157. zn - March 10th, 2008 at 9:23 am
Oh… how about the sword from Clash of the Titans?
158. Wanderer - March 10th, 2008 at 9:33 am
I keep seeing the usage of Zanbacto from bleach, But that is the type of sword all the shinigami (spelling?) use, you guys may want to be specic to who’s you mean, as they are all different once released(I.E Ichigo’s, Renji’s, etc).
I do agree that mastersword should be on this list. Cloud’s modified Buster sword in Advent Children was pretty awesome, I’d like a sword that had 7 swords in it and can be removed/put back together constantly during a fight.
159. the other me - March 10th, 2008 at 10:31 am
There can be no list without Stormbringer and Mournblade listed.
160. Niali - March 10th, 2008 at 11:08 am
C’mon guys. You overlooked:
The Master Sword from the Zelda series, in all its various incarnations.
Just from LOTR:
Narsil/Anduril, Aragorn’s old/reforged sword.
Glamdring, wielded by Gandalf.
Orcrist, wielded by Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit.
(These are all cooler than Conan’s Atlantean.)
The Vorpal Blade, from Through the Looking Glass (and later, traditional D&D fame).
Masamune. (Look it up. This is not a Sephiroth reference.)
161. BrotherMan - March 10th, 2008 at 11:20 am
(#136)anthony p: Thanks to you and all the others who pointed that out! I have posted comments many times here about how I simply limited this list to movies and television. Though I do appreciate a good sword in video games I am not a hardcore gamer and I can only think of a few that actually stand out to me.
(#157)zn: Good call on the Clash of the Titans sword! THAT was the one that I thought of at the spur of the moment while doing laundry the day that I was trying to compile the list. When I went back to write some more of the list I forgot what sword I had thought of and thus (forgive me) I settled with He-Man’s sword…for shame, for shame!
162. Goodluckshirt - March 10th, 2008 at 11:20 am
I wouldn’t actually include The Green Destiny, like many people are proposing. It’s a beautiful looking sword, but it’s just not badass enough for me, probably because I keep remembering that Li Mu Bai insists on skill being much more than the instrument (which is so true), and he never went out of his way on a murderous rampage.
When you say badass, I think of a sword that when used, seemed to emphasize power and superiority, and felled many. Because that’s what “badass” refers to…
163. ? - March 10th, 2008 at 11:25 am
When my daughter was 7 she gave me a samuri sword for my birthday (purchased by her mother, of course, but selected by her). She said it was “in case you run out of bullets” (not likely)
164. ? - March 10th, 2008 at 11:27 am
I remember a movie that had a sword that shot spikes into the users hand if they were not the proper owner. Anybody remeber what that was from?

I’ll take swords for 400 Trebek.
168. DingoFink - March 10th, 2008 at 11:50 am
What about the Gay Blade, that acutally may have been a bar and not a sword.
169. BrotherMan - March 10th, 2008 at 11:59 am
(#156) I wanted to add that part of the movie into the description of The Beastmaster sword and you are correct about Dar’s power. The reason that I chose to say that Dar received his powers from the sign is because I wanted to keep the description short and sweet without revealing too much of the movie.
“The Gods put their mark on you and some day you will know why.”
A delima that I faced while composing this list is the fact that some people reading it have not seen some of these movies or t.v. shows. This was a major hurdle to cross for me when writing the descriptions especially for Inigo Montoya’s sword for it gives away A LOT of the movie.
jfrater: Could you add a spoiler movie warning? Or is it closing in on 200 comments too late?
170. jfrater - March 10th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
DingoFink: hahaha
171. Tonny SS - March 10th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Dude. The title of this list is “Top 10 Badass Swords”. There’re nothing there about movie/TV. Your introduction only said you’re going to include swords from both TV and movies, nothing about excluding everything else. In the very first sentence you said “VIDEOGAME”.

As much as I do like drizzt and his story line, his swords weren’t really thaat spectacular, beyond their magical powers. Though I do hate to agree with the “drow hater” above about the swords, though on the subject of Drizzt and forgoton realms definately not on the same page.
From the storyline though, I think king Oboulds fire sword is probably one of the more respectable blades, being able to be ignited and quenched at a thought, to throw of an opponents percetption of where the blade is.
176. Jen - March 10th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Cloud Strife’s buster sword needs to be on this list. There is no bigger sword or cooler sword than that

@wanderer: zanbato has actually very little to do with bleach, it was a sword, a big one, in old feudal Japan.
it was used to fell horsemen and their horses in one swing.
Kubo Tite probably just used that name due to the ferocity of the real zanbatos.

184. Wanderer - March 11th, 2008 at 8:06 am
@ yashamaru-
yes i do know the zanbato is a real type of sword, it was a very very hard sword to wield. It was very hit or miss, because it was so large you couldn’t really manuever well with it.
I was talking specifically to the few bleach comments i did see who were just saying “the zanbato from bleach” in which their are dozens.
185. tronmas56 - March 11th, 2008 at 11:55 am

186. James - March 11th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Dude what about achiles sword in troy, and the spartans in 300
187. Nightstalker - March 11th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
There are several swords that should be on here but are not.
1. Duncan/Connor Macleod’s katana
2. Macleod clan broadsword
3. Dante’s Rebellion (Devil May Cry)
4. Narsil - Sword of the King
5. Hadhafang - Arwen’s sword
6. Frostmourne - Warcraft
7. Commander Worf’s Bat’leth
8. Bat Masterson’s sword cane
9. Blades of Chaos (God of War)
10. Masamune - Final Fantasy
188. KatC - March 11th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
To #158: Zanpaktou/Zanpakuto from Bleach do all have unique names. Ichigo’s is Zangetsu and Urahara’s is Benihime…
189. bootlicker - March 11th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
#164. I seem to remember that was from “Blade.”
190. heavybison - March 12th, 2008 at 2:31 am
Thankfully, one list without Randall’s crap..
191. rneiderman - March 12th, 2008 at 6:04 am
Should have been a top 20 list, really. So many swords to mention! The first one I thought of was Connor MacLeod’s katana from Highlander, and the more I read, the more I thought it’d be number 1. Maybe this list needs a sequel (unlike Highlander).
192. YashaMaru - March 12th, 2008 at 11:58 am
@wanderer: then i am sorry for implying you were ignorant.
certainly, it was do or die. often 2 men was needed to make one swing. but it should totaly be on this list!
193. Tomo - March 12th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Samurai Jack’s sword definitely deserves a mention. Yes, I admit it, I am a fan of the warrior lost in time.
194. Ghidoran - March 14th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
What about Eragon’s Zar’roc? Or Zelda’s Master Sword?
195. NickChuck - March 17th, 2008 at 7:16 am
The Sword of Truth from the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. Yes its from a series of books but seriously, its the most badass sword in the entire freaking world.
196. leesh - March 23rd, 2008 at 1:27 am
haha. lightsabers shoulda been number 1
197. Andrew - March 25th, 2008 at 9:33 am
Hm, where’s Cloud’s (Final Fantasy) combined sword?
198. HKramer - March 26th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
This list should’ve been so much longer!
Cloud Strife’s Sword, prolly one of the largest swords ever (Actually it’s 7 swords in 1).
The Masamune, Sephiroth’s extremely long nodachi sword.
The Master Sword from the Legend of Zelda series.
Frostmourne, the legendary runeblade in Warcraft III.
Narsil, the sword that cut off Sauron’s fingers.
Andúril, forged from the remains of Narsil.
Man, I could go on forever.
199. Yourtaintedmemory666 - April 16th, 2008 at 6:54 am
Dantes sword “sparda” and Vergils sword “yamato” shouldve been up there i think.
200. tenthletter - May 10th, 2008 at 9:49 am
Darth Mauls’?? Didn’t see that mentioned.. And no I’m not 14yrs old…nice list btw.
201. Polly Odyssey - May 20th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
I’m genuinely surprised that The Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda isn’t on here.
202. T$ - June 6th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
NARSIL that is all I have to say isn’t it. The sword of the king owns all!
203. jc - June 15th, 2008 at 11:19 am
how about batusai`s reversed edged sword…
204. Muttley - July 9th, 2008 at 12:00 am
Having seen both the “Braveheart” sword in replica (full-size) and the original sword weilded by the real Sir William Wallace on the first level of the Wallace Monument in Stirling - I can assure all that the real sword is actually LONGER and broader in the blade as well as longer overall than the sword used in Braveheart. Remember, Wallace himself stood a good 7 inches over 6 feet tall and had bright red hair, a red beard and a temper to match.
205. Darcy - July 9th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
I think Conan’s sword is the best of all. I just bought it and it is really nice.
206. Darcy - July 9th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
P.S. Gandalf’s sword is really nice also.
207. ChaoticPython - July 10th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
Aw…you didn’t include the Masamune, or the Buster sword, or the Master sword…
*is sad*
208. Annunnakike - July 17th, 2008 at 5:17 am
You didn’t include Connor MCLeod’s sword! That’s at least one I would put in there, it really kicks ass! But nice list anyway.
209. bobthedog - July 31st, 2008 at 1:16 am
Nepheline was right: “Changeling” is a piece of alien-hybrid technology in the form-factor of a greatsword which, when drawn, produces a 15-meter long, 10-meter wide vortex - a gate to deep intergalactic space. Anything she waves the vortex over - Jedis, Hobbits, Barbarians, and Ninjas alike - *IS* sucked into the gate and dispersed to the endless night and vacuum of the space between galaxies…
;oD
210. Gecko - August 2nd, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Heh, cool swords. Those would probably hurt.
211. orenj - August 11th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
aha i just thought of the manga/anime rurouni kenshin, get the reverse blade sword!!!!! it doesnt hurt, but can break a bone or two…
212. neolestat - August 16th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
The description of this list starts with: “I have always been a fan of characters in video games”
There is no possible way that anyone that knew what they were talking about would omit either Cloud’s ‘Buster’ sword or Sephiroth’s Masamune!
Surely this list is aimed at fanboys and nerds? In what universe does the Hessian come before the Buster sword? ROFL at the epic fail this list is!
213. Tiet_Drifter - August 25th, 2008 at 9:59 am
This is a great list with great choices. I agree that the Masamune (Sephiroth’s) and Link’s Master Sword should ahve been on there. Now I would have liked to see Cloud’s Sword from Advent Children on here…the one that he uses on Sephiroth to “kill” (like that’s gonna happen) him doing the cherry blossom limit break (I think). Another sword that that would have been cool is the Frostmourne from Warcraft 3 and TFT. This just shows that a top 10 would be WAAAYY too small :p Great job again. Just my two cents.
214. swordsman - September 7th, 2008 at 4:52 am
Here are some other swords that deserve to be listed i think sword from the movie zorro, sword from the viking warrior in 13th warrior movie, the sword in the movie attila and the katana sword in the movie the last samurai. you should remake a sword list and add more swords make it the top 30 or something lol
215. shenron - September 13th, 2008 at 12:41 am
masamune
216. shenron - September 13th, 2008 at 1:44 am

Light Saber
Anduril/Narrsyl

217. shenron - September 13th, 2008 at 5:19 am

218. AMM - October 27th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
How about Sephiroth’s Masamune Sword
219. Anon E. Mouse - October 28th, 2008 at 6:17 am
Beh… All you silly things recommending Final Fantasy swords? They might be badass if they were actually feasible. But let’s see someone try to really use one of those things…
Look, I love my anime as much as the next Japanophile, but I’m not too keen on filling a list with Bleach sword this, or InuYasha sword that. I’m more partial to a sword that isn’t featured, with minor changes, in every other anime or manga.
That Bride sword from Kill Bill is responsible for a nice pretty scar on the palm of my left hand. That hurt like a mofo!
220. pyrothraxe - December 31st, 2008 at 12:18 pm
