This is a list of the 10 most deadly animals found on land and in water. While some may seem innocuous – especially number 1, they lead to millions of deaths every year. From least, to worst, the list:
10. Poison Dart Frog
The backs of the poison dart frog ooze a slimy neurotoxin that is meant to keep predators away. Each frog produces enough of the toxin to kill 10 humans, though, strangely, in captivity, the frogs do not secrete this poison. The frogs are brilliantly coloured and live mainly in Central and South America. [Wikipedia Article]
9. Cape Buffalo
Cape buffalos weigh 1.5 tons and, when faced by danger, attack head on with razor sharp horns. They stand up to 1.7 metres high and 2.8 metres long. Humans are virtually its only predator and even lions will avoid crossing their path. Every year the Cape Buffalo is known to maul and kill multiple humans; some believe that it kills more humans in Africa every year than any other creature. [Wikipedia Article]
8. Polar Bear
These massive creatures, native to the Arctic, regularly eat elephant seals and could cut off a human head with one swipe of its paw. The Polar Bear is the most carnivorous of all the Bears and will eat walruses, whales, rheindeer, and even other polar beers. [Wikipeida Article]
7. Elephant
African Elephants, with their sharp tusks, are not as friendly as many believe. They kill over 500 people per year (either by stomping or impaling). The African Elephant generally weighs in at 16 tons. [Wikipedia Article]
6. Saltwater Crocodile
This is the largest of all living reptiles and is found mainly in Northern Australia and Southeast Asia. A healthy adult is typically 4.8 – 7 metres (15.75ft – 21ft) long, weighing up to 1.6 tons. There have been reports of larger. This creature is capable of killing and eating animals up tot he size of a water buffalo. In its most deadly attack (called the Death Roll) the crocodile grabs an animal or human with its mouth and begins to roll. A 1ton stallion is known to have been killed by this method in under 1 minute. In the water, the crocodile can move as fast as a dolphin. [Wikipedia Article]
5. African Lion
The African Lion can reach up to half a ton. Lions are thought to kill up to 70 humans per year in Tanzania. These large animals are eclipsed in size only slightly by the tiger. [Wikipedia Article]
4. Great White Shark
This shark is an exceptionally large shark found in coastal waters in all major oceans. It can reach lengths of up to 6 metres and can weigh up to 5 tons. The Great White Shark is the worlds largest known predatory fish. It is the only surviving species of its genus. In general these creatures do not attack humans, and (while there have been some fatalities) the majority of attacks on humans are believed to be test bites – the Great White Shark are known to test bite other objects in order to determine what they are. More people are killed each year in the US by dogs than Great White Sharks in the last 100 years. [Wikipedia Article]
3. Box Jellyfish
Also known as the wasp jellyfish, this salad-bowl sized jellyfish can have up to 60 tentacles as long as 15 feet. Each tentacle has enough toxin to kill 50 humans. They are found in Australia, the Philippines, and many other tropical areas. Since 1884 at least 5,567 deaths have been attributed to these creatures. [Wikipedia Article]
2. Asian Cobra
While the Asian cobra does not have the deadliest venom, it does make the most of what it has, causing the largest chunk of the 50 thousand deaths by snakebite per year. An average cobra is about 1 metre in length. [Wikipedia Article]
1. The Mosquito
Due to malaria carrying parasites transferred by the mosquito, it is responsible for the deaths of more than two million people per year. In addition, Mosquitos are estimated to transfer diseases to more than 70 million people per year. Even in countries such as the UK, New Zealand, and Japan, where the more temperate climate has reduced mosquito bites to mostly an annoyance, they still cause some deaths every year. Surely if “more people are killed each year in the US by dogs than Great White Sharks in the last 100 years” then dogs should be on the list ahead of it.
July 13th, 2007 at 4:10 pm
If any animal is responsible for killing the most humans it is surely the human animal. Useless specie indeed.
July 13th, 2007 at 4:35 pm
Saming: it is not just about creatures deadly to man – it is deadly creatures in general.
July 13th, 2007 at 4:38 pm
tolltoll: I don’t agree that we are useless, but I do agree that if one took the perspective of humans being equal in nature to animals, then we would definitely be at the top of the list.
July 13th, 2007 at 4:44 pm
human beings are “equal in nature” to other animals. That is verifiable. Just cuz we can wage wars, create operating systems that crash consistently, eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, make useless comments on websites…*blink blink* well, that doesn’t change our nature. Human beings ARE animals and we have shown that no other animal comes even close to us in regards to being deadly. JFrater? Amend this list!
July 13th, 2007 at 4:59 pm
Steve: I don’t believe humans are equal to animals, thus they stay off the list

what about sissors ? plenty people die during slip and fall incidents involving these shiny creatures

what about knifes the cause trillions of deaths a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 20th, 2007 at 2:41 am
this is stupid, the hypo kills more humans each year than almost all of those on the list yet it doesnt make it????????…..stupid, gotta include shit deadly and wat kills more humans, cause thats wat makes them so deadly, …if buffalo makes the list, u gotta put the hypo
July 20th, 2007 at 4:00 am
Um…what is this animal “the hypo” you speak of?
July 20th, 2007 at 7:41 am
Dirty needles perhaps?
July 22nd, 2007 at 7:02 am
the hyppopotamus – junkie hippopotamus
yeah…there are deadly – especially when they’re broke and in need of a fix, during mating season, in a river in Africa.
They have large teeth, powerful jaws and often carry blood-born diseases in part because needle exchange programs are virtually unheard of in the jungle
July 22nd, 2007 at 7:48 pm
Mosquito’s aren’t the deadliest animals. Sure they cause millions of deaths, but that’s because there’s trillions of them. You have a much much better chance of surviving a mosquito encounter than a saltwater crocodile encounter.
July 23rd, 2007 at 9:40 am
The statistic I read is that the hippopotamus kills the most people in Africa every year. They are huge, powerful, aggressive, and territorial.
July 23rd, 2007 at 10:22 am

haha! hypo-hippo…!!
what? the red cross DOESN’T have a needle-exchange program for such a animal? does PETA know about this?
July 24th, 2007 at 3:42 am
the so called “hypo” kills more animals you know!!!!
July 24th, 2007 at 4:31 am
Jonmarck. The mosquito is probably the deadliest animal where there’s malaria, because malaria kills millions and millions of people, and the one specific genus of mosquito is its only carrier. Since the mosquito is the reason they got the malaria, I’d say that would qualify it to be the deadliest animal in the world..
Oh yeah. It also carries West Nile, but thats a joke compared to malaria.
July 25th, 2007 at 7:02 pm
the reason the poision dart frogs do not produce their toxin in captivity is because they get the poision from the insects they eat in the wild.
July 31st, 2007 at 3:33 pm
I wasa under the impression that tigers kill more people than lions. Maybe I’m wrong.
The most dangerous in captivity? The zebra. More zookeepers are killed or injured by zebras than any other animal.

Intelligence is irrelevant. A species’ level of intelligence does not separate it from the animal kingdom. Humans-Homo Sapiens-are an ANIMAL species. Humans can be as dangerous, bloodthirsty, aggressive and savage as any other animal on this list…and our intelligence only allows us to act in these manners on a larger scale. This list would be better titled “The 10 Most Dangerous Non-Human Animals”. Like it or not, we are an animal species of this planet.
August 9th, 2007 at 9:26 pm
The frog “strangely” doesn’t produce venom in captivity because in nature, it obtains the base chemicals from eating venomous insects, which, d’uh, are not fed to them when caught.
August 10th, 2007 at 12:55 pm
Ugh why it’s the hippopotamus even mentioned? It’s the most dangerous out of all of them, bar the anopheles mosquito.
August 23rd, 2007 at 1:25 am
You got some of it right, like the mosquito, but other examples, like the Great White Sharks, is totally wrong! Bull sharks are seven times more dangerous and deadly than a Great White Shark will ever get, literally! I think you got the word “deadly” mixed up with the word “feared”! Sorry I’m kinda rude like that, but are you sure you didn’t piece this together from splenda packets? Think about it!

question, which animal in the world can kill crocodile.this is needed to complete an assignment
kindly send to my mail box
September 5th, 2007 at 10:51 pm
Okay – here’s my two cents:
Humans are animals.
Mosquito’s kill more human animals than any other animals
Hippos kill crocs and people
The humble honey bee kills more people in Australia every year than any other animal
Bull sharks are far more dangerous to other marine/human animals than great whites (whites eat larger meals but less often)
September 6th, 2007 at 1:00 am
Thanks for the comments guys
September 13th, 2007 at 8:05 am
Hippos kill more than elephants and all the predators combined in Africa… when it comes to people.
September 13th, 2007 at 8:23 am
OK first off mosquitos are not animals, they are insects. And I agree that Hippos are the deadliest. So just replace mosquitos with hippos.
September 14th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
Insects aren’t animals?…um, do you think you could be getting your vernaculars confused? of course insects are animals: mammals are animals, fish are animals, reptiles are animals, humans are animals, and yes, insects are animals too.
September 17th, 2007 at 5:10 pm
Hey, aren’t you forgetting the most deadly animal on the planet? The household cat! There’s more than 17 quadrillion deaths every year because of this highly dangerous creature! The next time you pet your cat… BE WARNED!

crank dat soulja boy.
November 11th, 2007 at 9:08 pm
I AGREE people are more or just as dangerous as animals for instance my real father supprized me one saturday morning he allmost killed me that morning he was drunk all night mad at what i dont know he tryed to twist off my left arm grabed my neck chocked my beat my chest with hes other fist grabed my longer blond hair stuck my forehead into
a eating table 3 inches thick the blood pored out of my head knocked me 8 feet through the air jumped on my arms pined down beat my face i was 14
years old time i was helped to the hospital i was
covered in my own real blood from head to my feet
this story is not made up 15 people saw me allso
November 25th, 2007 at 6:41 am
somedude: the household cat is definately the most deadly. I had a near death experience. to this day i cannot watch a funniest home video show without making sure i am not eating.
I was chewing on a fisherman’s friend original flavour throat lozenge and it had worn down to the point where it is really thin. Then they put up a montage of cats doing crazy things and they were all just coming way too fast. it got to the one where it is like a white shorthair cat under a sheet, and i couldn’t contain myself, and the lozenge lodged itself at the back of my throat. I was trying to breathe, which was possible, swallow saliva to dilute its flavour, and cough all at the same time. And then when i hocked it up, i knew i was real lucky. When it happens, you just sit back and go, sh*t, that was the most funny thing followed strait after by the most lethal thing, all without warning, and so there you go.
Take it like a surgeon general’s warning: Do not eat while watching crazy stuff go down. Some guy in england choked to death on his blood pudding while watching ‘the goodies’.

Dane,
If humans were mere animals, Hitler would not be evil. In fact, the term “evil” would cease to have meaning.
Humans were created in God’s image, and therefore they have abilities and responsibilities that no animals possess.
Evolution is ridiculous. Nothing can ever come from absolute nothing.
December 1st, 2007 at 9:50 am
Why do you continue to critisize the list. Yes a misquito is an insect but if you honnor a human to be equal to an animal then you should count a misquito as an animal. Until you come in contact with a damned hippo stop with the hippos please. I heard that japanese blow fish a pretty deadly too, with that poison tetradotxin is that true?

This list is wrong. The ten most venomous snakes live in Australia, and account for more deaths per capita than the Asian cobra, ie the brown and taipan (another list names it the deadliest animal, for both its aggression and venom. And what about the box jelly? Which is the most venomous creature eon earth? Is this list actually researched, like on what animals cause the most deaths per year?
December 6th, 2007 at 10:00 pm
only aboutg 6 of the top tem most venomous snakes ane australian land snakes and while their venom is extremely toxic bite are rare, even rarer is death from an australian snake bite. the numbers will vary depending on which source you use but it is usually between 2-8 daths per year. the asian cobra on the otherhand bites an estimated 10000 people in india alone with 1000s dying. this is probably because of poor medical facilities in india and the fact that indians think that snakes are toys to be played with.
December 7th, 2007 at 2:00 am
Jess: the item for snakes (one creature per category btw) says that it is not the most venemous – it is the most deadly – ie, results in the most deaths per annum. Which ed9362 pointed out as well (thanks ed9362).

jess: actually, Australia only has 4 of those. Here they are: 10. mongolian death worm 9. king cobra 8. death adder 7. russel’s viper 6. coral snake 5. black eastern sea snake 4. black mamba 3. yellow bellied sea snake 2. taipan 1. feirce snake top 10 killers are the… 10.bull shark, 9. box jelly, 8. hippo, 7. elephant, 6. crocodile, 5. tiger, 4. spitting scorpion, 3. cobra, 2. human, 1. mosquito snake
January 4th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
AVI, the mongolian death worm?
A joint expedition in 2005 by the Centre for Fortean Zoology and E-Mongol investigated new reports and sighting of the creature. They found no evidence of its existence, but could not rule out that it might live in the deep Gobi Desert along the prohibited areas of the Mongolian/Chinese border.
Wiki copy
Also the fierce snake is a commonn mane for the inland taipan. is it that deadly that is gets two spots.
the spitting or thick tale scorpion, while venemous isnt considered deadly to adults, a sting usually causes localised pain. although they can cause blindness if you get stung in the eyes.
you have to research these thing.

ok…. so nothing can come from absolute nothing but god can create everything in the universe from…? You silly goose! If you apply logic to some things, you hafta apply it to everything!
January 6th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
ed9362: i did research the top 10 deadliest animals, and i meant mosquito in 1 and the inland taipan is related to the taipan, and i’m sorry if you don’t believe in the death worm but i do, and you can’t really prove animal venom contents, so research on most venomous is useless.
January 6th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
john: all animals have their own abilities, and evolution never stated anything about stuff coming from nothing
January 6th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
oh, and there have been sihgtings by plain people of the death worm, so ha!
January 6th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
AVI
My point about the death worm is simple, if no-one is even sure that it exists im sure no one knows how venomous it really is, is it even a snake? It is described as a worm everywhere i look. I will give you the taipan one the inland is a subspecies of the taipan.
I assume that you mean by “you cant prove animal venom contents” that there is no scale as to toxicity.
The LD50 Described
The LD50 is a standard laboratory test with set guidelines laid down by the World Health Organisation. With the toxicity test in snakes, individual mice within a sample receive equivalent quantities of venom (each mouse is of the same weight). Each sample receives less venom than the previous. The LD50 is the amount of venom administered to each mouse to cause 50% of the sample to die. The lower the LD50 the higher the toxicity is on mice!. For the limitations and problems with this type of test see White (1987
And i am sure the tiger snake and brown snake would be in the top 10 but i cant find much on their ranking.
January 6th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
And here it is the official most venemous (not deadly) snakes as ranked by the LD50
1. inland Taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus) (australia)
2. Eastern Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis) (australia)
3. Northern Taipan (Oxyuranus scutellatus) (australia)
4. Eastern Mainland Tiger Snake (Notechis s. scutatus) (australia)
5. Reevesby Island Tiger Snake (Notechis ater niger) (australia)
6. Beaked Sea Snake (Enhydrina schistosa) (anywhere from the Persian Gulf to northern coastal Australia)
7. Western Mainland Tiger Snake (Notechis scutatus occidentalis) (australia)
8. Black Mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis) (africa)
9. Chappell Island Tiger Snake (Notechis ater serventyi) (australia)
10. Southern Death Adder (Acanthophis antarcticus) (australia)
11. Gwardar (Pseudonaja nuchalis) (australia(i think it is a brown snake))
12. Copperhead (Austrelaps superbus) (australia)
13. Indian Cobra (Naja naja) (india)
14. Dugite (Pseudonaja a. affinis) (Spotted Brown Snake(australia))
15. Papuan Black Snake (Pseudechis papuanus) (Papua new gunia)
16. Stephens’s Banded Snake (Hoplocephalus stephensii) (australia)
17. Rough-scaled Snake (Tropidechis carinatus) (australia)
18. King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) (southease asia)
19. Spotted Black Snake (Pseudechis guttatus) (australia)
20.Collett’s Snake (Pseudechis colletti) (australia)
21. King Brown Snake (Pseudechis australis) (australia)
22. Red-bellied Black Snake (Pseudechis porphyriacus) (australia)
23. Small-eyed Snake (Cryptophis nigrescens) (australia)
24. Eastern Diamond-backed Rattlesnake (Crotalus adamanteus) (america)
25. Olive Whip Snake (Demansia olivacea) (australia)
wow 19 out of the top 25.
remember this is only how toxic the venom is. Australian snakes are extremely shy and unlikly to bite humans and even if they do they are usually “dry bites”. also this doesnt take into account the volume of venom injected.
January 7th, 2008 at 2:06 am
All living things are classified into two: plants and animals
Humans & insects are not plants, they’re animals
Still, mosquitoes spreading malaria is deadlier than humans
January 7th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
flgh: there are 4 types of living thing: animal; plant; fungus; protist; and bacterium. humans and insects are animals.
January 7th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
ed9362: well, it’ more like it’s named after worms than is a worm, it is probably a snake.
January 7th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
ed9362: could you please turn your caps lock off? no need to yell.
January 9th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
oh wait the death adder lives in australia and if you don’t agree on death worms then 10 is the brown snake from australia so there’s that 6
January 9th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
AVI i thought i explained this, read post 64. the only other way you can classify the snakes is how many people die each year from their bite and in that case no australian snakes would be in the top 10.
And i am not using caps or yelling
January 11th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
well, that would depend on your definition for most venomous.
January 12th, 2008 at 2:06 am
I would define most venomous as the snakes with the most potent venom. therefore the list on post 64 holds. As for most deadly there are alot more factors than just the potence of the venom as i have explained.
January 12th, 2008 at 6:31 am
oh, and why do you always have AVI instead of avi?
January 16th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
umm actually there are 6 categories of living things…..
1. animilia
2. plantae
3. archeabacteria
4. eubacteria
5. Fungi
6. Protists
January 17th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
archeabacteria and eubacteria are both monerans
February 6th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
ed362:i did not say top 10 killers of adults, i said top 10 killers of ppl, and the feirce snake is a member of the same genus as the taipan, but it is a differrent species
February 6th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
avi, must i keep going over this with you, look at post 64 for the most venemous snakes. and your list of deadly to all people is flawed as you are including animals (death worm) that may not even exist let alone kill anybody. my point with the scorpion is its venom is not real potent and death in even children is rare.
i have looked at a few sites in reguard to listing them by the number of people killed by them each year and most seem to go along with the original list posted here.
and none of then include death worms, scorpions, bull sharks, tigers or humans because despite the debate here humans are not considered animals.
February 8th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
non-human animal, okay, well i dont define most venomous as most potent venom. and this list and the lists you saw most likely alternated between big killers (mosguitoes, cobras) and animals with abilities that can kill but rarely encounter us (great white, lion). and scorpions, while not having been recorded to kill alot, are suspected 2 kill way more than recorded due to their habitats.
February 8th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
and i did not say death worm kills a lot. oh yeah and they should not be on a venomous list, u r right on that, cus apparently its poisonous not venomous!
February 8th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
and there is a scale as to toxicity, you misunderstood me
February 8th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
i said death worm was highly toxic not highly deadly.
February 8th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
the only other factor in venomous apart from the toxisity of the venom is the amount of venom injected during the bite, obviously that varies from snake to snake depending on size and other factors.
i know there is a scale i told you about it renember.
and seing though we are including things that are suspected of killung i think we should include zombies and boogeymen in you list also.
February 9th, 2008 at 4:05 am
ed:zombies? what? and what are boogeymen?
February 9th, 2008 at 4:07 am
crocs are also probably killing more than recorded.
February 9th, 2008 at 4:09 am
i dont know who suspected zombies of killing.
February 9th, 2008 at 4:11 am
and there is plenty of factors for how venomous an animal is
February 9th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
i would say the same people who think zombies are killing lots of people are same ones who think the mongolian death worm is killing people.
i am surprised you havent heard of the boogeyman it is fairly universal here is a link
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-boogeyman.htm
i would agree with you on the croc,
crocs would kill more than any other animal in australia. every year a few people get eaten. aussie salt water crocs are notoriously agressive.
i cant see any factors in venemous apart from how much venom is injected and the potency of the venom. dont forget the LD50 measures how quickly the venom kills with a set dosage level.
February 10th, 2008 at 7:29 am
i didnt say the death worm is killing ppl.
February 10th, 2008 at 7:35 am
OK, well i would define most venomous as most venom inside the animal, you cant really know what that is cus u cant know what percentage its injecting.
February 10th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
hey everyone knows a great white is the 2nd deadliest shark, bull sharks are deadlier. this seems to be more potental to kill in most circumstances than killing most ppl (dart frog? polar bear?) even then the order would be inaccurate
February 10th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
hmmm,
maybe. if it is potential to kill the blue ringed octopus should be on it then. it is considered to have one of the most potent venoms in the world.
February 10th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
and there is no anti venom for the BR octopus
February 11th, 2008 at 4:49 am
the wandering spider and feirce snake are also considered to have 1 of the most potent venoms.
February 12th, 2008 at 5:09 am
and i said potential to kill in the most circumstances ur right that is a very dangerous creature
February 12th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
i looked at the potency of venoms according to the LD50 on mice.
the wandering spider is 0.05mg/KG
the inland taipan is 0.025 mg/kg
the Blue ringed octopus is 8 to 10 micrograms/kg (not milligrams) it has been known to kill in less than 3 minutes.
generally sea animals have more potent venom than land animals for example the box jellyfish, irikunji, conefish, some sea snakes.
i think the reason their venom is so potent is because they only have very small amounts of it stored, and small preditors need to kill fish as quickly as possible.
February 17th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
Deer should be on the list. Hundreds of persons are killed each year in vehicular accidents involving deer, not to mention that they carry Lyme Disease as well.
February 20th, 2008 at 3:37 am
ed9362 shut up i hate u and i wish u was dead WTF are u on about
February 20th, 2008 at 4:31 am
This list is venomous!
February 20th, 2008 at 5:41 am
rupert. first off go and get your guts fucked
what part dont you understand, i can explain if you like.
DICKHEAD.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
This may sound crazy, but animals are forming armies to take out the humans. Think about it, they can all communicate, we are ruining the planet, so why wouldn’t they want us dead. Chipanzees are already making spears to hunt in africa. I can’t get into all the details so instead read the article: Violence of the Lambs in GQ. It will explain why this theory isn’t crazy and actually quite reasonable.
February 24th, 2008 at 4:42 am
the mosquito is not the deadliest animal, the parasites it carries is. If there were no parasites the mosquito would just be an annoyance. It’s like saying a bottle is dangerous because it contains poison.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:38 am
According to “The Guinness of Animal Facts and Feats” (1972), the most deadly animal is the housefly. It is one of the widest spread animals, where people live, they live too, and they spread many lethal diseases. So by all deaths by animal transferred diseases globally, the housefly may be the #1.
March 2nd, 2008 at 9:14 pm
I agree with owzitgarn. Saying the mozzie is dangerous is like saying air is the most deadly compound because it can carry airborne virii. The box jelly is easy to understand tho’. I got stung by one 5 weeks ago and I’m still suffering the pain from the sting. Wrapped tentacles 4 times around my ankle and the pain was beyond belief. The scars and flesh necrosis have set in now as well. That’ll teach me to swim without a stinger suit in darwin. Oh and BTW owzitgarn…..orrightthangs
March 17th, 2008 at 9:38 am
humans should be number one!
March 18th, 2008 at 1:36 am
I recently read an article that said bees kill hundreds of people a year.
March 22nd, 2008 at 5:17 pm
mosquitoes do not kill; they transmit disease.
March 26th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
the deadliest animal is human
March 26th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
oh no they aren’t lol i just checked the ‘poison dart frog’ is……………. so is ya mum
April 17th, 2008 at 6:04 am
the list is rubbish do u see mosquitoes killing well i would say cobras, crocs, great white shsarks are the top cause they kill.
April 17th, 2008 at 6:07 am
who evr put that we are deadly we are because people kill other people and animals this is out rageous
April 17th, 2008 at 6:10 am
Jack u said we are deadly u r right and awsome and cool
April 17th, 2008 at 6:11 am
dann u said we r deadly good on ya
April 24th, 2008 at 11:21 am
mosquitos are not deadly, they may carry the deadliest virus, but the mosquitos themselves shouldn’t be on the list, they are just the carrier, so if u have a deadlist carrier list put them on it.
April 24th, 2008 at 11:40 am
The dictionary definition of deadly is likely to cause or capable of producing death… if you don’t put the animal that kills the most people per year at the top, how is this a list of deadliest animals? There’s no point turning this into an argument of whether or not a virus is an animal or not, however, the virus on its own is useless without an animal to carry it. Your argument makes about as much sense as someone saying the box jellyfish isn’t deadly, it’s only the certain toxins within the venom that make it deadly.
May 9th, 2008 at 2:48 am
this is bull, the mosquito number 1 that is so stupid
May 13th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
do your eyes ever go dyslexic for a second? i thought 10 said “poison fart dog” lol!
May 27th, 2008 at 3:36 am
the LD50 tests on mice, not humans and is therefore not reliable.
May 27th, 2008 at 3:39 am
i didn’t say the death worm is killing
May 27th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
what the frick? why isn’t the hippo on here?
June 1st, 2008 at 10:30 am
you forgot leopard,hyena,hippo,baboons,grillas,chipanzeez,cobra
June 1st, 2008 at 10:13 pm
what about the blue ringed octopus? this isn’t a list of the animals that kill the most, it is a list of the deadliest animals, the blue ringed octopus has enough poison on their golf ball sized body that they have the potential to kill up to 26 adults in minutes
June 1st, 2008 at 10:25 pm
yeah, i do agree with michael22, i just saw a show about them, they are scary animals, definately deserving of the list about being the most deadly, they haven’t killed a lot of people but their potential is great, and they make their own poison, unlike the mosquito
June 7th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Did you submit the top 10 list I found on http://www.livescience.com/animals/top10_deadliestanimals also? Or did you get ripped for your list content, or vice versa?
And I agree, the hippo should be on this list. Every site I visited claimed they were responsible for more fatal attacks on humans then any other wildlife in africa.
June 9th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Well its pretty clear to me, steer clear from flashy frogs!
June 9th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
yep hippo’s are pretty lethal as well
June 13th, 2008 at 2:07 am
Hey, how come you don’t have George Bush on the list??
June 13th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
why exactly are great white sharks on this list when you say yourself that they usually stay away from humans? Isn’t the tiger shark more dangerous than the great white shark?
June 20th, 2008 at 11:09 am
uvberot:Hee hee
June 24th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
I think animals are cute but still be careful my german shepard once bit my baby brother and he rushed to hospital the dog went in 2 mental homes!
July 19th, 2008 at 9:10 am
How can you compare animals that are poisonous/dangerous by themselves (buffalo, sharks) to those that involuntarily carry a venom or transmit a disease (frogs, mosquito) and are not deadly by themselves. All very entertaining though
July 29th, 2008 at 7:27 am
This list needs amending, given all the comments above.
Pls Get it right!
August 1st, 2008 at 2:30 pm
Surely the human is the deadliest animal from what the amount we kill.
August 1st, 2008 at 7:38 pm
well, all i can say is that i am now afraid on mosquitoes!!!! i thought it was just an ordinary insect but as what i have read-it is ver deadly…
August 4th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
I created humans as a joke
August 12th, 2008 at 5:09 am
i appreciated u bcz of u i know one of the best and careful thing i come to know. always get in touch with me if you are created something new
August 23rd, 2008 at 11:14 am
YOU ARE SO WRONG! CHUCK NORRIS IS THE TOP 10 MOST DEADLY CREATURES! Did you know that he can speak braille.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:01 am
No hippos? They’re considered the most dangerous animals in Africa. They attack anyone and anything that comes too close to them (except for other hippos) and there have been cases of hippos ripping the faces of people. I’d say that’s pretty dangerous.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
This list confused me a bit – to me it seems like the author has mixed the criteria for inclusions between “number of people killed per year” and “potential/ability to kill people”.
For example, the inland taipan (most venemous snake in the world) has the ability to kill many more people than the asian cobra. The fact that the asian cobra actually kills more is likely due to the fact that it encounters more people during the course of the year. To me, that makes it less dangerous, but more (un)lucky.
I suggest this list should be split into two – 1 list of “Top 10 Statistically Dangerous Animals” (deaths per year) and 1 list of “Top 10 Potentially Dangerous Animals”.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
To me I don’t bhelive what they’re saying look at the king cobra , and the black mamaba Are they on the list??? And there’s no way; it’s fourth because I know that it kills under 100 people each year. But the computor has it’s own bhelive’s. I say the computor is full of crap!!!
And the poision dart frog should be in the top three because it kills probably at least 500 people each year; mabye even more!!! And there is no death worm or whatever you call it.
Sincerly-Ryan

Videocast of list – http://listverse.com/videocast/videocast-top-10-most-dangerous-animals/
October 21st, 2008 at 3:00 am
i think A full grown moose is pretty damn dangerous. But also, you shouldn’t underestimate any animal because even the most unlikely prey can become a predator. Like a sword fish comming out of the water and stabbing you (They don’t use swords)! That happened once, i totally saw it on TV.
October 21st, 2008 at 3:07 am
for some reason that just reminded me of that time an official got stabbed by a javelin in the Olympics (not the recent one)
October 21st, 2008 at 8:14 am
uvberot – thanks! I was wondering if the streak of someone somehow managing to bring American politics into every single list would be broken. You saved the day – and with Bush no less! You certainly are a troll of amazing skill! You should be so proud!
October 21st, 2008 at 8:16 am
And on topic, what about grizzly’s? The actually kill black bears in addition to other wildlife (and Timothy Treadwell).
October 22nd, 2008 at 10:42 am
They may not be deadly but Koala Bears are sure as hell mean. They should make the list for the biggest jerks in the in animal kingdom.
October 22nd, 2008 at 8:42 pm
lmfao has anybody else noticed that the poster accidentally put down “eat other polar beers”. I dont mean to be an ass or anything im just pointing it out since as a canadian i find it pretty damn funny.
October 22nd, 2008 at 8:51 pm
I had to look up “imfao” before I fully understood that comment! A polar beer is a popsicle made of lager?
October 23rd, 2008 at 10:50 am
Honestly, the Great white should be replaced by the Bull Shark. Many blame of the great whites are actually belonging to the bull shark – smaller but much more aggressive. Bull sharks can also swim upstream, and there has been many (of course, unreported) attacks on India and in Brazil.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:17 am
(you have read it before, but) the list sucks. Is the more a list of “the classic animal that scareme more than the real dangerous monsters of the wild”.
Where is the hyppopotamus? (more deadly and dangerous than the Bofalo and the saltwater crocodile). The sea serpent is more poisonus than any other in land. The Tsetse and her Trypanosomiasis (dengue/sleeping sickness) kills more people than the Anofeles an her malaria. The cow kill more cowboys in US than the white shark worldwide and the bull shark attacs more humans per day than the white.
You know the human is an animal too, one that kill hundreds of thousands of animal an humans per week!! That sound dangerous and deadly to me.
If you wanna do this in this way, changethe name of the list to “10 feared animals” or “the 10 more FAMED dagerous animals”
October 27th, 2008 at 1:27 am
Remeber, jfrater.
Eukariota – animalia – Chordata – Mamalia – Primate – Hominidae – Homo sapiens sapiens. Animals after all (even you).
The lephant and the dolphin has big brains as us (even bigger) and can make complex process of reasoning, but they are not human just they have a hig intelect. The human can be out of the animal realm just be cause we can think.
Use your “oh big” level of intelligence to process it.
October 27th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
Really, Humans kill the most humans? And you say humans are useless? Are you not a human? ARe you suicidal? IF you are get it over with and stop wasting resources on your life.
also, without humans, many a animal would go extinct
October 28th, 2008 at 10:56 am
@tototot is dumb
No, just the ones that have been domesticated would go extinct, or the ones that were put in such dangerous extinction levels by humans to begin with.
November 2nd, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Republicans are the most dangerous by design and neglect.
November 14th, 2008 at 11:11 am
Reyairia, If humans disappeared you think dogs and cats will go extinct. No. Cats and dogas are more than capable of looking after themselves and every other domesticated animal has cousins in the wild that are exactly the same. LOL. Yea humans disappear and all the wild rabbits suddenly die. My ass.
November 16th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
You forgot a big one for your list: bees. Bees kill a lot of people every year!
December 1st, 2008 at 11:49 am

This list has no real consistency, feel like you should of made one for Deadly as in You wouldn’t stand a chance in a fight with, and one for most deaths to humans. Because lets take the Poison dart frog… as I am aware it has a deadly poison the amount of deaths it is accountable for you human is im sure a lot less than lets say dogs to humans. So If were taking a mosquito to be the deadliest because it causes most deaths to humans then a dog would be more fitting for this place. No?
Also think the Hippo should have a place on this list , as it is in fact one of the most dangerous animals in Africa, accountable for more deaths than the lions and Cape Buffalo by far.
Nevertheless, a nice read
December 4th, 2008 at 3:05 am
what a hell u r thinking about ur self do u know that how many people r dieing of snakes just bring snakes to the first place
December 4th, 2008 at 12:48 pm

January 25th, 2009 at 5:00 am
The most dangerous animal are aliens. You may not notice it but in the future they plan an invasion that will annihilate people in the planet abominably using death rays. They must be put in top 1. I’m serious.
January 28th, 2009 at 4:06 am
Dogs actually kill between 40.000 and 70.000 people a year world wide!!
February 5th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
what the hell this whole conversation is all over the place!!!!!!!!!!
….but personaly i think gold fish kill the most people
February 8th, 2009 at 11:17 am
The Noid Fish of the Northen Lakes of Russia. This little cretin has 1000 toxic spines of which anything coming into contact with will meet his maker. The Noid Fish (pointius stikius) has been know to wipe out many other water dweling creatures. The fish which ranges in size from 1 – 1.5 metres can only seen at night as it lays dorment through out the day. As many as 20-25 unluckly people stand on the Noid fish per year resorting in Death .. …. ..
February 9th, 2009 at 10:36 am
the reason that poison dart frogs dont produce poison in captivity is because of the fact that the plant that they live in in the wild is poisonus and is not availible for them in captivity
February 13th, 2009 at 3:21 am
the hippo is the most dangerous animal
February 13th, 2009 at 3:22 am
next to the Mosquito

Many people in Africa died because of mosquitoes and none of them died by being poisoned by fish…………………………………………….
March 18th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
After mosquito or humans, it has to be white tail deer. Caused from auto accidents.
March 27th, 2009 at 9:17 am
arent mosquitos suppose to be a insect not a animal?
March 28th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
insects are animals
March 30th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
i personally think the box jellyfish is the most deadly it can kill a person in 2 min with a sting and yes i would know because i had to do a report on them
April 8th, 2009 at 4:28 am
Where do you get these ridiculous overestimates? Elephaint weighs 16 tons?? water buffalo 1.5 tons
April 12th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
I vote for stupid people who like to go climbing into cages with polar bears and tigers and other dangerous critters…Half the time people put themselves in these situations to get hurt and then wonder why the animal is standing there like “I can haz dumbass?”
April 12th, 2009 at 6:14 pm

waddabout the hippo?
April 28th, 2009 at 5:32 am
Humans are indeed the no. 1 deadliest animal. We are the most responsible creature for the extinction and endangerment of certain creatures like the Dodo Bird and Tasmanian Tiger. We are indeed the most sadistic, greedy, violent and sinful of all known entities.
May 6th, 2009 at 4:29 am
4 me humans r d most dangerous animals bcz i want he hehe he he
June 1st, 2009 at 1:09 pm
Actually the hippo is the cause of more human fatalities in africa than the cape buffalo. Also the box jellyfish that you are refering to is the cyronex fleckorai, about the size of a basketball. Quite deadly indeed but the box jellyfish that kills more than this one is the irykanji, about the size of a thumb nail. It has the same potentcy of toxin as the cyronex, they have been known to wipe out entire beaches as they are nearly invisible in water. PS-sorry for any mispellings
Also it must be known that the bull shark (zambeeze shark) kills more humans yearly than the great white. and as for dogs killing more than great white sharks, maybe thats because humans live on land with dogs not sharks
June 9th, 2009 at 12:34 am
Is it the mosquitoes that are deadly or just the diseases they might carry? I heard the black death was spread by flease so does that mean fleas are deadly as well?
June 9th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
the zebra
June 10th, 2009 at 2:29 am
OK first More People Have been killed by Saltwater Crocs than Great White Sharks and 2 HIPPOS ARE THE MOST DANGEROUS ANIMALS IN AFRICA!!! GET UR FACT RIGHT!
June 11th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
1. Human Beings
More than 100 million animals are reported killed by human hunters each year. That number does not include the millions of animals for which kill figures are not maintained by state wildlife agencies. Animals suffer for days in steel-jawed leg-hold traps before being killed by one of a variety of methods: standing on their chests to crush their lungs, shooting them, clubbing them, stabbing them, or by other equally cruel methods. Ranch-raised fur-bearing animals live their entire lives in tiny wire cages where only minimal survival needs are met. Animals often become insane from lack of mental stimulation and sometimes mutilate themselves by chewing at their own paws and tails. Some killing methods include: Drowned in leg-hold, body-crushing trap, clubbed, suffocated, shot after being caught in leg-hold trap, hunted and shot, electrocuted (genital or ear-to-foot), neck broken, poisoned, strangled by snare, poisoned (by injection), or gassed.
These are only what the humans do to other inferior animals, not including what human beings do to each other. Humans can also kill other humans, torture other humans and have no regards to the fact that they are of the same species, they treat each other just as they would treat other species.
We are animals, some people dont like to think we are and take it as an insult thinking that we are more superior to all other animals on this planet, but the facts are we were all created in the same way. Evolution.
