So, here we are again – this is our third list of bizarre videos. The first two lists have proven to be so popular that it seemed appropriate to do another. Some of the items on this list have come from suggestions in comments on various posts on this site and discussions on other sites. Thanks to all for the suggestions. So here, completing our trilogy, are 10 more bizarre videos. WARNING: There are scenes of horror in the videos below.
1. Begotten – Elias Merhige
Merhige is an American avant garde film director. This is the full version of his cult film Begotten. It starts to get really weird around 1 minute 50 in. I warn you – this is pretty hideous. The film opens with God killing himself with a straight-razor.
2. Eraserhead – David Lynch
This is a snippet of one of David Lynch’s early films. It was made in 1977 and it is a surrealist horror film which has become a cult classic.
3. Rubber Johnny – Chris Cunningham and Aphex Twin
This has to be the most asked for clip so far. Cunningham is an acclaimed English music video director. This is a short film he made with music by Aphex Twin. He has also directed music videos for Bjork.
4. I’ve Plummed this Whole Neighbourhood – Nurse with Wound
Nurse With Wound or NWW is the main recording vehicle of British musician Steven Stapleton. NWW was originally a band, formed in 1978 by Stapleton, John Fothergill and Heman Pathak. This unusual clip features some very strange sounds accompanied by a bizarre video clip.
5. Holy Mountain (trailer) – Alejandro Jodorowsky
Holy Mountain is a cult film by Chilean Alejandro Jodorowsky. This film was entirely financed by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. At a projected budget of $1,500,000 (in USA dollars), it is the most expensive Mexican film production to date.
6. Taiwanese Alien Baby
This is a real human baby suffering from a terrible disorder called harlequin ichthyosis. Sufferers of the disease are known as Harlequin Babies. Awful.
7. Thrift Store – Shaye St. John
Shaye St. John is a mulit-media performance artist. This is one of his performances which is, frankly, weird.
8. Le Reour a la Raison – Man Ray
Man Ray was an American modernist artist who contributed significantly to the Dada and Surrealist movements. He lived mainly in Paris.
9. The Clergyman and the Seashell – Antonin Artaud
This is an early film of the Artaud surrealist play of the same name. Artaud is most famous for his Theatre of Cruelty in which the actors accompanied by sounds attempted to shock the audience. They were successful in most cases causing members of the audience to be sick, or to faint.
Part 2 can be found here, and part 3 here.
10. Variations V – John Cage
Cage was an experimental American composer. In this performance of Variations V we also see Merce Cunningham – he was Cage’s lover and frequent collaborator. The musical score was composed by flipping coins to determine each element and it also involved photo-cells and tape recorders.
This list is three in the trilogy. The first two are the Top 10 Bizarre Videos, and Another 10 Bizarre Videos. As always, if you can suggest more, do so in the comments.

brennan: I am just guessing and hoping you are joking
August 15th, 2007 at 7:28 am
josefk: I agree with your sentiments in principle, but it is pretty bizarre when the baby drinks its milk. Awful, but bizarre.
Bloxor: see above.
Fruckert: I know the point you mean – I had similar feelings.
August 15th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
jfrater: i agree, that it’s really bizarre, i just said, that surreal motion picture art shouldn’t be mixed with things like that.
August 15th, 2007 at 3:25 pm
josefk: okay – point taken. I won’t remove it because the list is finished now, but I will keep that in mind in any future lists of this type

I’ve seen the harlequin baby thing before. I think it’s pretty awful, how old is the baby supposed to be?
August 19th, 2007 at 7:39 am
Vicky: I am not sure how old it is but it definitely is awful. I don’t think they tend to live long either.
August 23rd, 2007 at 10:39 pm

September 18th, 2007 at 11:06 am

October 15th, 2007 at 1:28 pm
Harlequin Ichthyosis is a very real albeit very rare skin condition which is almost always rapidly terminal. The infant is born with severe contractures and often have necrosis (death of tissue) at the end of toes and fingers. It is a tragic and horrific disease for any infant to endure for their usually short life. They are born in pain and often die in excrutiating pain. For anyone to refer to them as aliens is the final cruelty. However interesting it was to watch it was still upsetting. At least this little innocent could suckle and did not need i.v. feeding which is often the case.
How sad. It was just a tragic situation where the infant was born to people who were not willing or able protect their child from the ignorant public.
October 16th, 2007 at 11:39 am
Harlequin Ichthyosis is a genetic condition (not a disease) that is caused when both parents carry the affected gene, and there is a 1 in 4 chance of any pregnancy resulting in a child who is affected.
The issue is that the skin grows at an extrodinary rate and builds up into scale which doesn’t easily shed.
Babys look very severe as they shed very little skin whilst in the womb and this builds up into extremely thick scale, this also can become taut and cause the contorted features that you see in many of these videos.
The condition isn’t normally discovered until birth, 2D scans may pick up that something is wrong late in the pregnancy, 3D scans can potentially pick it up earlier.
Loss of finger tips and toes can occur if the tight skin isn’t released ASAP after birth by a plastic surgeon.
After birth babies are normally treated in a humidified incubator and the skin moisturised with a thick petroleum cream (similar to vaseline), they can also recieve retinoids to help promote the shedding of this thick layer of scale.
Death in most cases is due to infection, but because of improvements in neonatal care more children are surviving to lead relatively normal lives (although requiring intensive skin care regimes)
The fact that this video ends up on the internet highlights how ignorant most people are about harlequin ichthyosis (which is just one type out of over 20).
As a parent of 2 children with this condition, i can honestly say that this video doesn’t beong on here.
October 16th, 2007 at 11:51 am
Harlequin Parent: thanks for your comment which helps us all to understand the situation better. I will remove the video clip as soon as I find a replacement.
October 16th, 2007 at 9:20 pm
Dear Harlequin parent and Jfrater,
Thank you for your prompt response.
Firstly my writing was only to enlighten some of the more disturbed of your viewers and to express my sadness at the plight of the infant in not only your video but in another that I have seen on the internet.
I refer to this condition as a disease with the true sense of the word from middle english ” lack of ease”. I don’t want to labour the point but according to the dictionary “DISEASE” is any disorder of structure or function of the human, animal or plant that produces specific signs or symptoms and is not a direct result of physical trauma. Regardless of the causative source genetic or acquired through toxic or other exposure…..
I really appreciate the Harlequin parent’s involvement in this discussion, thank you for helping us to understand this as I have only a surface knowledge of the condition and know little of the survival or other statistics.
I admire your strength as a parent and your willingness to inform those of us less wise. Would that more people had your insight.
As to this website it is a well run and fascinating look at some of the stranger and more avant garde artistic endeavours to which I would otherwise not be exposed.
October 20th, 2007 at 2:45 am
That Rubber Johnny was just so . . . fucking weird. I try and use better and more descriptive language, but every time I watch it I end up thinking “What the hell is the message?”
October 20th, 2007 at 2:53 am
Jason: I totally agree with you
November 29th, 2007 at 9:54 pm
Harlequin Parent, I’m a bit confused. I’ve been fascinated with strange diseases and disorders for quite a while, and in everything that I’ve read about harlequin ichthyosis, it’s described as excessive shedding of the skin, which causes the sensitive layers to be exposed, hardening and tightening enough to crush the lungs of the afflicted infant. My understanding is that very few of the children who have this disease live past infancy. I might be wrong, but I’m just trying to clarify on this point.
December 1st, 2007 at 3:03 pm
wouldn’t it be more odd to list the top 11, or 9?

Greetings! I have a lot of names, but i go for TheAlchemyst, i live in México, and i love ths website (spetially the weird videos).
I would like to show you this video, appeared on the net not so long ago and its called “Obedece a la Morza” (Obey the walrus), and takes some scenes from the game “Starfox” and from the 90’s movie “The Goddess Bunny”.
This video its pretty weird, as you see it, strange feelings start in the back of your head and go all over your body, whyle the ItzyWitzySpyder song its played backwards.
I dont know why did he made this video, but since it appeared on the net, more then 50 replys said that it contained subliminal messages, and there was even one guy who tought about a “Satanic group of transexuals that opperated worldwide”, this, of course, hadnt been prooved yet, but its amazing how people can react to this kind of things.
link to the video:
December 20th, 2007 at 4:15 pm
Oh God, I’ve seen that movie before. It is DEMETED! My girlfriend said she had nightmares about that woman, especially when she has the clown face on her head near the end. Reminds me of the movie House of 1000 Corpses.
December 21st, 2007 at 12:45 pm
sdggrant: That’s NOT a woman…. its Johny Baima, a transvestite; the movie he appears on is called “The Goddes Bunny”, a tour on the gay scene of the USA. He/she started his life as an orphan, and passed from fosterhome to fosterhome, receiving a lot of abuses as a kid, then he suffered from Polio, then, the doctors tried to Fix his back with an Iron stick… its not a cute story… but its true…
December 25th, 2007 at 9:02 am
Has Jan Svankmajer’s name really not been thrown about? Here are two smashing examples of his work:

And despite her impressive, eclectic videography, this video from Björk surprises:

Thrift store guy is a weirdo. Rubber Soul director is one too, truly bizarre.
I just don’t get John Cage. Not bizarre just makes me sleepy.
#1 was a little scary.
January 11th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
All of those were very good choices, but may I as a very small favor? Video number 4 caused me to go into a mild seizure due to the sound pitch, and I think it would be wise to put a slight warning up Just to be safe.
All of them really were greatly bizarre
I hope you can make another one soon!
January 22nd, 2008 at 1:19 am
ok….I enjoy more reading the comments! lol this just freaks me out, hmmm but now that I think about it …my nightmares are somehow similar to those films…I should try to represent them on video
lol …
January 31st, 2008 at 3:08 am
All of the youtube videos are no longer available…I don’t know whether to be sad, or relieved!
January 31st, 2008 at 3:09 am

April 24th, 2008 at 4:12 am
Begotten is pure CRAP. Unfortunately I watched it right after I ateand I felt like throwing up the whole time. I guess thats the point of this movie. I cannot believe someone can be so out of it and do that disgusting thing.
May 11th, 2008 at 11:41 am
Rubber Johnny has always creeped me out.
June 5th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
I skipped through the’ I’ve Plummed this Whole Neighbourhood’ Nurse with Wound video. Most of the still images are photographs by fairly well known artists. The first one, the nude child by the mask, is by Ralph Eugene Meatyard. I also noticed photographs by Arthur Tress, Emmit Gowan, and Lucas Samaras in the video. In fact, I’ll have to double check this, but I think all of the photos in that video appear in a long out of print book of photographs titled The Grotesque in Photography.
June 13th, 2008 at 1:33 pm

June 13th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
FINALLY NUMBER 1 IS WHERE IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE , BEGOTTEN IS
A GREAT ATMOSPHERIC MOVIE AND A VERY GOOD EXPERIMENTALIST
CREATION …THIS MOVIE WAS MADE WITH A LOT OF PASSION …
I WOULD LIKE TO READ A LOT OF DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEWS ON
BEGOTTEN…
ps:by the way i have seen the baby in AMAZING SHOCKING
ASIA and i personally think that video’s of that kind exploit
human misery in order to fullfil the stupid curiousity in
all of us ,IGNORANCE IS THE CAUSE OF MISERY….!!
June 13th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
rushfan if you are looking fo this kind of video i know a
lots of different name like all the FACES OF GORE ,the FACES
OF DEATH 2000 1-2-3-4 (not to confuse with he old face of death from the 80’s) there is a video called CORONERS CAMERA
that is amazing ,you have AMAZING SHOCKING ASIA 1-2-3-4 and
many many more ,just to name a few…by the way in the weird
music dept you have SPK , PSYCHIC TV , THE KLINIK , TEST DEPT
, BLACKHOUSE (the industriel group) these are a few groups
i used to listen to back in the mid 80’s …some of CABARET
VOLTAIRE early work is so experimenal ,it’s like an acid trip
there is one weird BUTTHOLE SURFERS album i used to listen to
i will try to find the title of the album and get back on it..
June 13th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
i saw the faces of death videos from the eighties….lets just say im immune to the sight of dead bodies but i have yet to smell death and from what im told it his horrible.
im studying for a career in law so i know that day will come again and again….and again

to look at , i love experimental work in art,in films ,in
music,in anything .I personally think a way of expressing
one’s self throug art in deeper level. It’s like penetrating someone’s dreams…wow !(experimental art that is)…
June 13th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
The faces of death from the 80’s is dark and kinda boring
but faces of death 2000 part 3 is very raw and graphic ,coroner’s camera is one good quality video and by
the way i went to see the UFC in montreal and i love all
MMA organization ,the evolution and tecnical in MMA makes it
one of the best most complete one on one sport ever to see
light…and it’s not finished yet ,the best is to come…!
June 13th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
So, Rampage, huh? I think Anderson Silva is the best at 185 lbs. Did you see him f**k up Rich Franklin? Twice. Dude, that was a beat down. Rampage is fixin to lose to Forest Griffin. He’s hawt.
June 13th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
i really dont care how “Hawt” they are but i assure Rampage will prevail
June 13th, 2008 at 4:39 pm

I feel sick now… I saw that image of that baby… I’ll be praying for the kid, and all other kids with that horror. I can’t believe that’s real… I’ll be having nightmares for weeks… My brain has actually blocked the memory out of self-defense. I am genuinely sick to the stomach. Jfrater, please just link to that video, don’t show it on here, you have traumatized someone. It’s worse then tubgirl. ugh, oh God…
July 19th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
I just watched a film called FRANK KAFKA’S ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE…and other strange tales .Let me tell you …it is a
fantastic experience of film making …WOW !!!
Every one reading this right now should view this wonderful film. It contains 4 short stories of aprox 20 min.
All the stories are well acted ,creative and very weird.!!
The first story is a writter named Kafka who is trying to
write the first line of his book ,but he is being constently
deranged by different people ,a knife selling guy who is looking for his little friend ,kids and people living in the
bilding …actually all the stories are weird situations ,
weird conversations and interactions…and that is what makes
this film very strange and really fun to whatch…i personally suggest this film to every body ,it’s a great experience …that’s a promess.!!
ps:give me some feedback…
July 25th, 2008 at 5:59 am

Hey all, long time reader first time commenter (commentor?).
I remember a few years ago a friend msging me and begging me to give him images and videos of happy pretty things because he had just seen something that could not be unseen. He was so upset by it. Up until now I had never exposed myself to the trauma of a harlequin baby. I have to agree that that type of thing should not be mixed with bizarre art videos. I’m rambling now. To sum it up, disturbing things suck. This site rulez. Peace out lovelies.
I didn’t watch a single video. And I’m glad I haven’t from the comments. But I’m still disturbed due to the image on the harlequin baby video
December 20th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
you should have included “Un Chien Andalou” by Luis Bunuel. The razor slicing the eye bit…wow.
December 26th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
The Nurse With Wound video has “The Sounds From Hell” playing over it. It’s really freaky. Here’s a link if you wanna listen to them without a video: http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/sounds/sounds_from_hell.mp3
January 18th, 2009 at 11:14 am

January 24th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
argh, i absolutely hate antonin artaud, his poems are disgusting
January 24th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
I was lucky enough to meet Merce Cunningham. All his choreography is done by chance. I did a whole piece based around my telephone number and a dice, and it was possibly the best piece I’ve ever done
January 25th, 2009 at 3:29 am

March 12th, 2009 at 10:42 pm
is it dumb that i love looking at these things, but hardly ever watch the videos? haha i get so freaked out, i would be beside myself. lol
April 2nd, 2009 at 7:03 am
I wonder if the creator of Begotten was even trying to get anything across at all, just seemed like a waste of time to me.
Rubber Johnny was quite amusing, though in this case the video really was the only thing that was worth the time, i can’t possibly think of anyone who’d want an mp3 of that ”music”.
Sux some of these videos are down now.
April 12th, 2009 at 5:33 pm
“Begotten”– AHHHHH what is that?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? From the first part that I saw, it was just raw gore… okay not life-scarring but definitley something I’ll remember for a while…=S
April 18th, 2009 at 9:27 am

If only you could watch half of these videos. FAIL.
May 6th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
