Narrowing the episodes from thirteen seasons of South Park to just a select ten is no easy task. But someone had to do it. Whether you love or hate the show, there is no denying the huge success and cultural impact of it. By parodying current events and celebrities, the creators manage to produce fresh material that has kept the show from going stale. You may not agree with all of the choices on this list, but if not, just add your own to the comments. Each item contains a video commentary by the creators. Warning: video clips contain some bad language.
This episode starts with a Mormon family moving to South Park. One of the children in the family seems like the perfect child so Stan is recruited to beat him up. The best parts of the episode are when the Mormon family tell of the prophet Joseph Smith, who is the founder of the Mormon religion. Whenever, they are talking about Smith there is an upbeat tune in the background that repeats the words “dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.”
Full title: “The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers”. In this episode the boys are recruited to bring the Lord of the Rings movie to Butters house. Instead, Randy accidentally gives them a hardcore pornography video to bring to his house. After, Butters watches some of the movie he is transformed into Gollum. The show continues with Butters following them while the Parents and Sixth graders are all trying to hunt them and get the movie. All while the unsuspecting Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny try to return the movie to its origins of the movie store in order to remove the evil spell it has.
This episode makes fun of former vice president and presidential nominee Al Gore. In the episode, the Al Gore character is hunting ManBearPig. He claims that ManBearPig is going to destroy the world. The Al Gore also has no friends and recruits the boys to help him, before getting them stuck in a cave. During this episode Cartman eats fake treasure to try to keep the other boys from stealing any of it.
This episode of the show made it because it has the best Randy Marsh scene out of all the South Park episodes. Stan wants to be in a boy band with the other bands. Randy will not let him. The best scene of the show is when Randy breaks down and says that he was in a boy band when he was younger. How he left South Park for the fame, but came home being lame. Indeed, it was a tragic tale. Stan and Randy both end up joining the boys band Fingerband and performing at the mall.
In this episode the boys become confined to Cartman’s basement for twenty one hours a day playing World of Warcraft. They become overweight, get acne, and grow long hair. They only eat hot pockets and never go outside. Cartman even has his mom bring him a bedpan when he has to go to the bathroom so he does not have to leave the computer. I think this scene is disgusting but it makes the episode hilarious.
In this episode the boys get served by some kids from the next town over. They then put together their own dance crew. They find out that Butters used to be a famous tap dancer before an accident that he had when he was younger. During a show his shoe flew off and eleven people were killed in the ensuing chaos. Butters is still traumatized from the event and originally refuses to join the dance crew. He is finally convinced to join the dance crew, the day of the show. He begins to join the dance crew and his shoe flies off knocking down the lights and killing the opposing dance crew. The boys celebrate while Butters gets another memory to suppress.
Cartman pretends to be Butters’ robot friend in order to keep a secret safe, but ends up under a cardboard box for much longer than he hoped. Butters does not let Cartman leave his side and they end up going to Hollywood. Cartman has to come up with movie ideas for Hollywood executives. The whole time Cartman is going without food and water.
This was episode was three in one. It all started when Cartman bet with Kyle that leprechauns where real. If leprechauns are real then Kyle has to suck Cartman’s balls but if they are not then Cartman has to give Kyle ten dollars. The boys go into the forest in search of the leprechaun. They do find him and he warns of a terrorist attack on Imaginationland. The boys all go there but Kyle, Cartman, and Stan escape before the terrorist attack. Butters is left there by himself and must imagine weapons for the good characters before Imaginationland is destroyed. Also Cartman’s case goes before the Supreme Court but he never gets Stan to suck his balls because leprechauns are imaginary.
It’s all fun and games until Butters takes a ninja star to the eye. The boys tell a carnie that their parents are dead in order to get him to sell them weapons. They pretend that they are Japanese warriors. In one scene Cartman says that he is invisible and walks naked across the stage in front of the whole town. The town is in an outrage and it is not because Butters got hit in the eye with a ninja star. It is because Cartman walked across the stage naked. The other boys return the weapons and stay out of trouble.
Cartman buys pubic hair from a ninth grader for ten dollars in order to become a man. When his friends tell him that he needs to grow his own to be a man, he demands his money back. Scott refuses and Cartman comes up with a sick and twisted plot for revenge. I think that how unrealistic yet believable Cartman’s plot was makes this such a great episode. You don’t even believe that what you saw just happened. The episode is just so twisted. The following quote goes along with the picture after Scott finds his mom’s finger in the Chili and Radiohead calls him a baby. Cartman has exacted his revenge upon Scott. “Yeah, yeah, oh let me taste your tears Scott. Ummm, your tears are so yummy and sweet . . . Oh, the tears of unfathomable sadness. Yummy, yummy guys!”

I’m not the world’s biggest fan of South Park (some episodes i find funny and others just seem asinine), but I absolutely love #9 on this list. The WoW episode was also highly amusing, albeit completely disgusting.
I agree with the top two. Those are my two favorites as well. Glad we agree on something.
Do you even have one episode from the earlier seasons? Where’s Mr. Hanky? Towelee? Cartman Gets An ***** Probe, not to mention Jesus versus Santa the true premiere episode. Have you even seen every episode??? If you think you can possibly reduce 13 seasons of groundbreaking brilliant comedy into a silly little list of ten then you are both a douche and a terd (You missed that one too.) Remember, opinions are list a**holes, everyone has one and everyone thinks everyone else’s stinks but not their own.
There should be a top ten lists on controversial shouth park shows…I’ll start with the one where Kyle’s baby brother has an affair with his teacher…WOW!!
I meant SOUTH park
Haha, that’s a great list.
I was hoping TSST would be on there though, that was my favourite episode.
Major boobage was pretty great, too.
I would never be able to make a list like this, because I’m a South Park dork and love just about every episode xD
@Luckeh [186]: Haha me 2 i’ve seen all 200 episodes including the 3 different pilots + jesus vs. frosty and jesus vs. santa great show lol

I thought the name of their band was FingerBang not Fingerband
Make Love not warcraft definatly has to be one of the best episodes, Its such a great highlight of how that game is played by many thousands of people. As for some of the other episodes, I believe I haven't seen them.
I recommend any1 who hasn't seen the Make Love not warcraft episode to check it out, Available here. South Park Episodes
The one about the boys playing with weapons should have made the list, it was so friggin' funny. And the Warcraft episode should have been #2. But I totally agree with #1!
Okay, so I'm unobservant….Good Times With Weapons is on the list, LOL!
The one where they send the whale to the moon should be up here
"Shut up fat boy!"

GO KENNY AND TWEEK
Oh and Lice Capades is an AMAZING episode too! I love it!
If it were me, I probably would not have made this a top ten list… too many good episodes to choose from… so my top 15 (in no particular order) are as follows. All about Mormons, Trapped in the Closet, Make love- not Warcraft, Spontaneous Combustion, Butt-out, Jared has Aides, Biggest Douche in the Universe, Douche and Turd, ***** Day, Smug Alert, Tsst, Guitar Queer-o, Over-logging, Scott Tenorman Must die, Whale Wars. (with an honorable mention going to The Ungroundable-for making fun of all those terrible Twilight fans)
Major Boobage is one of the best of all time (especially if you are old enough to have seen the movie “Heavy Metal” from -81).
What abaut "Starvin' Marvin in Space!"
personally i dont think that most of scott tenorman must die is very funny but the ending is the greatest ending to a TV episode ever. hearing the details of cartman's plot unfold is so good
is it sad that i've already seen all those episodes?
Ehmm I once saw this awesome episode, I can't remember the name, but many people from soth park were in this big house ore something, and they were all bold, so they could not tell the difference off each other…
Iff you like know what the name of this episode is, please text me
My TOP 10:
1. Margaritaville
2. The Coon
3. Death of Eric Cartman
4. Goobacks
5. Imaginationland
6. Fellowship of the ring
7. The Jeffersons
8. AWESOM-O
9. Scott Tenorman must die
10. You got f’d in the A
Hard choice, but I think this would be my final 10, no matter if even myself would question some positions in the middle of the list.
With most of them I can agree … but 1-3 is fail!
1. Imaginationland (best 3 Episodes ever)
2. Scott Tanorman must die
3. Deathcamp of Tolerance!
I must opine that “Child Abduction is Not Funny” should have made the list. Best Episode Ever. It makes fun of the sensationalism of the media and how things can get carried away by people not taking the time to actually think and just believing what is shown to them.
10. Fishsticks
9. Mecha Streisand
8. Red Hot Catholic Love
7. Over Logging
6. Imaginationland ( all three)
5. The Jeffersons
4. Eat Pray Queef
3. With Apologies to Jesse Jackson
2. Scott Tenorman Must Die
1. Cartman Sucks.
Starvin’ Marvin and The Ungroundable were the best:)
But neither of them is on here:(
if this were to be written this year, the jersey shore episode would be on it. snooki want smush smush!
Trapped in the Closet????
hi there admin. i must say that you have a really nice blog(Top 10 Greatest South Park Episodes) and i was really impressed with it.i’m new to blogging and i would love to know other blog writers and learn from their website. My blog(http://elahlyelyom.com/vb/member.php?u=81312) is quite new and i am still learning to work with it. i hope i will get to learn a whole lot from blog writers like you. cheers for this well-written post.
don’t be a fag. it was done before he died. fag
i like the one where cartmen dresses up like a teen ***** and goes on a jerry springer like show.. “i do what i want!” ” yall dont know me!!” bahahaha
the episode for me was ‘Cartmanland’ – uber funny!!
Great list, number one is unanimous. Def my favorite episode. Also Night of the Living Homeless (for me) is up there. good job
Medical Fried Chicken!
hahaha, he won the biggest douche award. LOL
Apparently scott is cartmans half brotha & that scotts dad was the real father but this is revealed in later episodes!! I need 2 watch it!
Mecha-Streisand is, hands-down, my favourite episode. Why is that not on this list? However, having said that, I agree with most of the rest of the episodes.
For me, it’s hard to list my favorite episodes. If anything, it’s easier to list my least favorite (for instance, “Hooked on Monkey Phonics” and “A Million Little Fibers” come to mind).
However, while I liked “Scott Tenorman Must Die,” I find that to be the most overrated episode of them all. The big payoff (i.e. the ultimate joke) is the ending, and once you’ve seen it enough, the novelty wears off and becomes less humorous. I mean, the same could be said for many South Park episodes, but that one especially because that’s what the episode pretty much relies on is the big payoff.
Come on, where’s “Ginger Kids”? Cartman actually gets his ass handed to him in that episode. Now I know we’re all supposed to like Cartman, being the antihero and everything, but it was too funny to see him start a movement only to get himself ostracized in the space of one day—and then he still finds a way to build up his own ego.
That being said, I also wish “Something Wall-Mart This Way Comes” was on this list.
YES #1 IS PERFECT
Marjorine is the best episode
Name

The episode with butters falling in love with the server from raisins was pretty awesome as well.

Maybe cause I grew up with Pokemon, but I thought Chinpokomon was the greatest episode of all time. Bill Clinton straight face talking about how the Japanese toy makers told him he has an enormous penis is my favorite South Park clip of all time
How is Butter’s Episode not on this list? Is it new?
YOU LYING, MURDERING WASTE OF LIFE!
