some of these are most likely photoshopped.
a lot of real and funny signs can be found at http://www.engrish.com. Sometimes translations just dont work out that well lol
October 26th, 2007 at 10:06 am
evan: yeah – and I love engrish – I have been there before – some of them are just hilarious.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:42 am
Great list, just the pick me up I needed today!
October 26th, 2007 at 10:50 am
Juggz: I am pleased to hear it – I have been a bit flat today as well – my pick me up is in a wine glass beside me though
October 26th, 2007 at 10:56 am
Awesome list. A bit early for wine for me right now… I could really go for some though
October 26th, 2007 at 11:01 am
Too bad i cant drink at work!
October 26th, 2007 at 11:29 am
the “Caution This Sign has Sharp Edges…also the bridge is out ahead”, that one is still my favorite one.
October 26th, 2007 at 11:34 am
haha, nice. i came across this yesterday:

Ravyn and Juggz: it is always a good time for wine. Hide it in a coke bottle
steve: yeah – I love that one too
dalandzadgad: excellent list! Puts mine to shame. Oh the humanity!
October 26th, 2007 at 11:47 am
jfrater: It’s nice you mingle and talk with the people who post. I find few bloggers do that, especially with a big site like this.
October 26th, 2007 at 11:54 am
jfrater: it is always a good time for wine, I do agree. But as of right now it is not for me. In about 6 hours it will be because I will get to share it with my fiance as that is about the time he will be home from his 2 1/2 day trip and we will get to share some time together. I always felt weird about drinking when no one else is around. But that is me.
October 26th, 2007 at 11:57 am
Erin: that’s why i love jfrater too!
October 26th, 2007 at 12:28 pm
Hey JF, what kind of wine do you prefer? My whife likes the white merlot or cabernet.
October 26th, 2007 at 12:32 pm
white merlot? never heard of a white one? is it some merlot blended with a white wine?
October 26th, 2007 at 12:33 pm
jamie: As long as you’ll offer employment after I lose this job.
October 26th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
JOE ROSSON: at the moment I am drinking Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia – normally i drink Shiraz from New Zealand, and when I want white I have Sauvignon Blanc only – I can’t stand chardonnay and it gives me a terrible headache. And of course, when drinking sauv, it is always NZ sauv (best in the world) or French (second best). I have never had white merlot – what is it like?
October 26th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
jfrater, have u heard of yellow tail? it seems to be being pushed her in the USA as an authentic Aussie shiraz, i think its ok but i dont know how it would compare to the real deal.
October 26th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
Juggz: give me a few more months on the site and let’s re-evaluate things
October 26th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
evan: I haven’t – but I am living in England at the moment so it might be that it is not marketed here. I definitely never saw it in New Zealand and I was a lush back then too! Is it expensive?
October 26th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
Well shoot Jamie….if you gonna be handing out jobs…I am up for grabs
October 26th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
nah, its usually 9-11 US dollars.
October 26th, 2007 at 12:57 pm
Erin: I must confess – it is because I am extremely awesome
[edit] and humble…
October 26th, 2007 at 1:01 pm
humble? HEHEHAHAHA…er um *cough* I mean very humble indeed.
October 26th, 2007 at 1:02 pm
Ravyn: added to the list
evan: oh – that is very reasonable – probably about the same as Aussie wine in the UK – I suspect it is probably legit – though I think Australians tend to use the French term for Shiraz which is Syrah. If it has a really good bite to it and a strong flavor it is probably okay.
October 26th, 2007 at 1:02 pm
I don’t get to drink yet since I’m at work. But tonight, after I get home from the ballet, I’m going to make myself a nice before bed drink with my newest liqueur Voyant, which is chai tea flavored, and some nice steamed milk. Mmmmmmm!
Better than drinking the nasty cheap wine they sell at the ballet; what’s up with that? Do they figure that since the intermission is reasonably short that you have no time to enjoy it anyway or do they just figure that you’re a captive audience so they can sell nothing but horrid wine?
October 26th, 2007 at 1:05 pm
I bow to you most excellent Jamie: Sire of the Listverse.
Wow where did that come from….anywho
All this talk about wine…now I really want some…
October 26th, 2007 at 1:07 pm
Mathilda: I LOVE chai tea – but over here it is only available as a powdered drink like hot chocolate – no one seems to sell it at cafes. What is Voyant? AND – what Ballet are you going to? The last one I saw was Swan Lake at the Royal Albert Hall. Speaking of wine at the ballet/opera – I went to Duke Bluebeard’s castle a couple of months ago and was able to get some astonishingly good wine – I was drunk before the first half ended! Great opera though – you should see it if you haven’t before – Bartok’s greatest creation IMHO.
October 26th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Ravyn: actually – I don’t know – I usually save my drunken weekend ravings for the forums so they don’t upset teetotallers on the main site – I guess I clicked the wrong button tonight
Oh – and the humble comment was ironic – by saying I am humble I appear to be arrogant, thereby concealing my true humility.

Has anyone seen airtoons? These are technically not signs as they are made up, but I laugh at these harder each time I see them…
http://www.airtoons.com/
October 26th, 2007 at 1:46 pm
jfrater – Ha! Who are you kidding with your whole “by saying I am humble I appear to be arrogant” thing? We know Litotes when we read it; in fact I learned about it on your site!
Voyant Chai is going to become part of my drinks menu, I think. One of my friends gave me a bottle because he knows how much I like Chai Tea. I love my friends!
I’m going to see Don Quixote aka Donkey Hote from yet another list on this site! (The funniest essay answers, I believe it was.) I plan to someday soon be able to post comments consisting of nothing excepting links within this site.
October 26th, 2007 at 1:52 pm
Mathilda: You are definatly working on that.
October 26th, 2007 at 2:10 pm
Ravyn – I’ve got a trick memory. I might not remember things but I do remember that I’ve seen them before, and where I’ve seen them. It used to serve me quite well on multiple choice tests in school because I would go back and eliminate answers that appeared under multiple questions.
October 26th, 2007 at 2:24 pm
Mathilda: You sound like me. Like right now I am looking for a list here that I know I saw but I can’t remember what was on it. Which helps me so much.
October 26th, 2007 at 2:36 pm
Dan – no – but when I get single vision back tomorrow I will
Mathilda: hahahaha! I should have kept that one under wraps – trapped by my own lists! The shame! Voyant! OMG – chai liqueur – guess what I am going to buy tomorrow?
You are virtually there already (with the list based comments)
October 26th, 2007 at 8:11 pm
Yeah…at lot of these do look photoshopped, but still a good laugh. =)
October 27th, 2007 at 6:22 pm
Hahaha, oh how few people will understand the Bear Bottom sign…
October 28th, 2007 at 9:11 pm
This Sign Has Been Hacked Was The Best But I Never Figured Out How To Hack Them
October 29th, 2007 at 12:53 am
Parahnus: Just think of the fun you could have if you knew how!
November 18th, 2007 at 8:51 pm
Anyone know why the driver should buckle up and remove dentures? Will there be a rollercoaster loop? Should he also remove coins and keys?
My favorite is “Prepare to Be Annoyed.” If I saw that, it would make my whole day. It’s just so true!
These are great, even if ’shopped.
December 1st, 2007 at 1:46 am
Love #4. “You’ll never get to work on time. Haha!” Heh. The last one’s in N. Van? Hmmm…does anyone know the location? I want to check it out. ^^
December 9th, 2007 at 5:49 am
The second last one is in South Africa and the second language is Afrikaans. It does exist though I don’t what the dentures part has anything to do with
December 17th, 2007 at 5:03 pm
Dude, you just made my day with this list. Freakin love your site!
December 17th, 2007 at 5:08 pm
Darren: bad translation presumably
Shikirocks: I am very pleased to know it – many more where that came from – just give me time
December 18th, 2007 at 7:12 am
jrafter. Funny thing is the translation is solid. Kunstande does in fact mean dentures. It puzzles me why they would put it up
December 18th, 2007 at 7:36 am
Darren: thanks – that is really weird.
December 22nd, 2007 at 6:36 pm
Well now. That’s just stupid. everyone knows that dogs can’t read.
January 20th, 2008 at 10:08 am
I was just thinking that most of them are photoshopped (except the more ‘believable’ ones) BUT I’ve actually seen #13, the dead bird sign!! it’s somewhere in Queensland when I was on holiday there with my brother. I have my own photo of it too
February 23rd, 2008 at 2:51 pm
i love the “you’ll never get to work on time haha” one. and the last one is excellent too.
February 25th, 2008 at 5:48 am
Holy crap! The 14th one down with the before and after cassowary sign – I’ve driven past that! We took a photo and everything! It’s in the Daintree Rainforest in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. You have to go across a little river on a ferry to get there.
I feel special now
March 2nd, 2008 at 6:29 pm

March 31st, 2008 at 8:01 pm
