Top 10 Diet Pills
- Published January 2, 2008 - 97 Comments
With the New Year having arrived, people have started thinking about resolutions and weight loss is one of the most common. These are some popular diet pills, which (supposedly) provide easy, fast, and guaranteed weight loss. If you are interested in chemical free approaches to weight loss, check out the Top 10 Natural Weightloss Aids.
10. Hoodia
Hoodia Gordonii is marketed as an appetite suppressant. It is supposed to simply make the user “not hungry.” In theory, if you had enough Hoodia in your system you could go for days without eating. There is no published scientific evidence that Hoodia works as an appetite suppressant in humans. The safety and/or effectiveness of Hoodia Gordonii as a dietary supplement must thus be considered as unsubstantiated.
9. Hydroxycut
Hydroxycut is marketed as a metabolism booster and appetite suppressant. Early on, Hydroxycut was extremely popular due to ephedra in the product. Since the ban of ephedra in the U.S. the popularity of Hydroxycut has dropped dramatically. Though still claiming to be “clinically proven” to be a “fat Burner” there is no actual clinical study to support this fact.
8. TrimSpa
TrimSpa is marketed as an appetite suppressant. TrimSpa formerly contained ephedra until that ingredient was banned in the U.S. The new TrimSpa formula X32 contains no ephedra. Its active ingredient is Hoodia gordonii, along with the stimulants caffeine and theobromine. Interestingly enough, TrimSpa’s spokesperson, Anna Nicole Smith, died with much controversy as to the cause.
7. CortiSlim / Relacore
Cortislim and Relacore are not actually marked as “weight loss pills.” The main thing these dietary supplements do is reduce “cortisol,” often referred to as the “stress hormone.” The theory behind Cortislim and Relacore is that stress creates “belly fat” and by reducing stress you can reduce fat. To achieve this stress reduction the pills claim to reduce cortisol levels.
6. Stacker 2
Stacker 2 is unique on this list in that it is marketed solely as a metabolism booster. The original Stacker 2 was based on the common stack known to many athletes and body builders of Aspirin (white willow bark), ephedrine (ma huang), and caffeine. These three components together create thermogenesis in the body, which speeds up metabolism and therefore burns calories at a higher rate. Since the ban of ephedra Stacker 2 has added other stimulant ingredients as substitutes.
5. Propolene
Of all the items on the list, Propolene is perhaps the most credible. The main active ingredient in Propolene is glucomannan, a water-soluble polysaccharide composing 40% by dry weight of the roots or corm of the konjac plant. In a nutshell, it absorbs water to form a gel-like mass. This makes you feel full without actually eating. In obese patients, taking 1 gram of glucomannan with 8 ounces of water 1 hour before each of 3 meals daily over 8 weeks resulted in an average weight loss of 5.5 pounds. This product also boasts a clinical study published on a government website.
4. Alli / Xenical / Orlistat
Alli started out as the prescription drug Xenical. It is marketed as a fat burner though this is not precisely what it does. Its primary function is preventing the absorption of fats from the human diet, thereby reducing caloric intake. It also comes with a reduced calorie, low-fat diet. The major drawback of this pill is the “treatment effects.” Basically, if you don’t follow the diet, all that excess fat comes out the other end; uncontrollably. It’s suggested that you wear dark pants when first starting out and don’t go anywhere public for a couple days. It should also be noted that Alli is the only product, which is FDA, approved as a weight loss product, though the FDA regulates all dietary supplements.
3. Leptoprin / Leptopril / Formula 9
Leptoprin is marketed specifically towards people who are “significantly overweight.” Leptopril is the exact same formula and is marketed by the same company as a generic. Although much the same as many diet pills, it is most known for costing a whopping $153 per month. Originally, the product was called Anorex and the formula was based on the ECA Stack (see number 6 on this list), with an almost identical ingredients list. After the ban of ephedra, the name was changed to Leptoprin and the formula was changed (still containing almost exactly the same ingredients as Stacker 2). Then in 2007, the formula was changed once more as the parent company of “A. G. Waterhouse” and “Generix Labs” discontinued a failing product known as “Formula 9.” The current formula of Leptoprin/Leptopril is the same as Formula 9. As a fun side fact, a short while after the new formula went into effect you could actually get Leptoprin/Leptopril with “Formula 9” stamped on the capsules.
2. Zantrex-3
Zantrex-3 is marketed toward people under 30 as an energy boosting, fat burning diet pill. The ingredients of Zantrex contain about three types of caffeine with a whopping estimated total of 300 mg per serving. That’s about the equivalent of 3-4 cups of coffee. This is the cause of the majority of the side effects associated with Zantrex. It’s effectiveness as a diet pill though comes into question due to the company’s official stance that Zantrex-3 is designed specifically for people who only want to lose 5-10 lbs. As a fun side fact, Dustin Diamond claimed to have used Zantrex-3 and lost 13 lbs. in 2 weeks, while he was on the VH1 television show “Celebrity Fit Club.”
1. Estrin-D / Akavar 20/50
Estrin-D is marketed as the first diet pill designed specifically for premenopausal and menopausal women. Akavar 20/50 is marketed as “the fastest, easiest weight loss ever” and also boasts the claim “eat all you want and still loose weight.” You might be wondering why they are in the same listing. Well, get this; they are the exact same product. That’s right. They both contain the exact same list of ingredients save one. It should be noted that when Akavar was released in March 2007 it contained exactly the same ingredients as Estrin-D. However, due to a phenomenal marketing campaign the company soon sold out of Akavar containing DHEA (the differing ingredient). Thus, by the beginning of May 2007 Akavar was being manufactured without DHEA and is therefore technically different from Estrin-D. The product claims to work through “automatic calorie restriction” aka you feel full faster. The company will also claim that preliminary studies show an affect on ghrelin, the “hunger hormone.”
Honorable Mention: These products didn’t make the list due to the fact they are not pills. L. A. Weight Loss, Nutrisystem, Enviga Tea.
Afterword: Neither the contributor nor the List Universe endorse any of these products and would suggest that if you decide to try any of them do so only after checking the guarantee and under medical supervision. In the world of miracle pills, take nothing at face value. I feel that I should also mention that Relacore, the same company makes all Leptoprin/Leptopril/Formula 9, Zantrex-3, and Estrin-D/Akavar 20/50.
Notable Omission: Phentermine / Duromine
Contributor: Mystern

first comment…! but seriously..if you want to loose weight, what happened to doing it the old fashioned way and hitting the gym and eating right?
January 2nd, 2008 at 5:58 pm
BBBBOOORRRIIIINNNNGGG!!!!!!!
January 2nd, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Ravi… that would be too difficult. Why go about it the right way when you can just take a pill and pretend your losing weight?
January 2nd, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Sorry, but I’m not really interested in diet pills. Personally, I like the lists that are really weird and bizarre. Like Human Sideshow Freaks or Bizarre Mental Disorders. I’m going to go read those now. Go strangeness! XD
January 2nd, 2008 at 6:43 pm
all of these pills hae the same ingredients so this list was rather boring and had no information. how about doing a list about weight loss compounds???? liiiike
ephedra
caffiene
T3 and T4
tea
dnp
clenbuterol
etc.

Really, man, talk about lowering the bar. This list is, bad, very bad. Try staying off the health products lists.
January 2nd, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Good Lord, everything on this list makes you shit, shake, or bloat.
I’d say eat less, move more.

Thanks for posting dude but I’m sorry, this has to be the most boring list on the internet.
January 2nd, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Heroin? Oh wait, I don’t think that comes in pill form.
January 2nd, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Being a fundamentally lazy, overweight bastard I tried a couple of different diet pills (Relacore and one other one I can’t remember what), but I didn’t lose any weight until I actually got off my lazy ass, joined a gym and went on a diet. Since then (March of ‘07) I’ve lost 50 lbs. and 9 inches off my waist and I’m working towards losing the last 25-30 lbs. in the next few months. Hard work and discipline–accept no substitutes.
)
However, I do use a couple of supplements in my fitness regimen, namely a multivitamin in the morning and the occasional cycles of Creatine (over-the-counter powdered form not the hard core Mark McGwire stuff) for increased muscle gain and the occasional cycle of Taraxatone which rids your body of excess water. Taraxatone actually works, but like I said it’s not a fat loss pill, it only gets rid of the excess water stored in your body resulting in extra weight loss, but not fat loss.

ALL OF THIS GARBAGE IS DANGEROUS TO TAKE! IT CAN KILL YOU!!!!!
January 2nd, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Mcgee…Tylenol can kill you if you take too much of it. Almost all of the things listed are relatively safe if taken in properly and in moderation.. Then again I recommend people just get off their lard-asses and exercise if they REALLY want to lose weight and be healthy.
January 2nd, 2008 at 9:33 pm
There is no such thing as the perfect diet pill, unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it. It would be great if you could just wish to be 20 pounds lighter and it came true, but it takes hard work. Diet pills are a temporary solution, if any solution at all. My mom took the pills that swell up and make you feel full, and it worked for her for awhile. She stopped taking them once they helped her change her diet. They say it only takes a few weeks to stop craving fatty foods and get used to salads and small portions. It worked for her, but I am sure some people just go back to bad eating.
With school, work, and wedding planning, sometimes it is just easier to order pizza. no pills for me though, not interested. but I don’t judge other people for trying them.
I am trying to lose 15 pounds at the moment, and it is really hard to be a busy, busy person a lose weight. I have always been slightly overweight, but now i am getting married, so I have incentive to lose it
January 2nd, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Here is the perfect diet plan. No breakfast, no pills, light lunch and (jfrater might love this) a shitload of light beer for supper. I am 41 years old, 6′ tall and 135lbs. Plus, my favorite food groups are bacon and cheese I am not a bread fan so, I have been on the Adkins diet for many, many years without even knowing it. Even before it was published. But seriously, diet pills scare me. I had an aunt die from complications of using fen-fen.
January 2nd, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Tylenol is kind of weird, at low, normal doses it is very well tolerated and has almost no side effects. If you really want to die though, eat a bottle of them and you’ll be dead real soon despite any heroic efforts to save you.
Like Matt, I too am a fat, lazy bastard. I go to the gym every other day and work out as hard as I can for 90 minutes, which truth be told is pretty damn hard, but I’m still fat. I need to be stranded on a desert island for six months or so, away from Starbucks, away from my refrigerator.
January 2nd, 2008 at 11:28 pm
mattayeaux: haha you know me so well it would seem
January 2nd, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Nelia: you are right – but there is one solution that I have seen work every time – and that is a stomach bypass operation. Expensive but effective.
January 2nd, 2008 at 11:38 pm
does anyone else find it weird that on cortislim’s commercial they call it the “feel good pill”?
it makes me think of the early 20th century when coke and all those other drugs were legal and used to feel good. creepy.
January 2nd, 2008 at 11:53 pm
I know something totally better than all those pills: Put the fork/spoon down and jog.

Easier said then done.
January 3rd, 2008 at 1:52 am
Actually, I think it was a helpful list, as so many people will be trying to lose weight right now, and will be tempted to order some of these meds.
This list is a reality check that they are just “hope in a bottle” at best, and dangerous at worst.3 kinds of caffeine? Who needs that?
I really don’t like hearing the judgemental comments either, you know, “lard butts” “just put the fork down”, ect.
There are many and complicated reasons so many have weight problems, including but not limited to genetics, food processing and additives (high fructose corn syrup, anyone?).
January 3rd, 2008 at 5:08 am
It’s lose weight not loose weight. The End
January 3rd, 2008 at 8:25 am
Suzi: Thanks for that. You hit the point of this list head on.
Wow, I wasn’t really expecting all the negative comments on this list. One reason I submitted this list is that I work for a dietary supplements company and I know exactly how many people order these things. I agree that the best way is to hit the gym and go on a diet, but people always want the easy fix.
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:06 am
and one more thing…stay off the weed…at least before a meal…that damn thing makes you hungry as hell..
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:08 am
and talking of weed…howz abt a list of diff types of weed n their effects..(guess we need a real weed expert here..)
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:12 am
Hmmmm . . . I think That’s a great idea for a list! I’ll get right on that . . . um . . . cough . . . not that I’m an expert on ganja or anything . . .
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:43 am
Snake oil, all of it.
If any of this stuff actually helped people to lose weight and keep it off, there wouldn’t be so many different kinds and, more importantly, it would be featured prominently on the mainstream news shows.
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:44 am
Having spent time in California, specifically LA over the last few years I can say one thing, and I know LA has its own little biosphere, but the oppourtunity to eat really really well for next to nothing is equally dominant to the fast food places…
And every second store seems to be a yoga center.
You move back to here the UK, and you get such a gulf, really good food is expensive – really cheap food is bad…
I blame my gut simply because I set up my own business so for the last year I havent got out on my bike as much as I’d like (I dont believe in the gym)…
I blame my gut on beer – I have a couple (ahem) a night, each one cracking in at 4/500 cals. But my genetics mean I only ever get a tum tum.. nothing else…
My brother got lard arsed – and guess what.. gym excercise and a new gf was all that he needed to slim right down…
These pills have such a strong effect on the liver, which is probably already strained from eating poor food and being all fatty, that I dont know how you could condone them.
They arent typically available in the UK.
January 3rd, 2008 at 1:18 pm
For whatever it’s worth, the cortisol-blockers (Cortislim or Relacore) make great sleeping pills for those of us who have difficulty turning our brains off when the lights go out.
When I have one of those nights when I simply CANNOT sleep, a Relacore pill really helps.
January 3rd, 2008 at 9:16 pm
If you look at the directions on diet pills, they will claim they only work with Diet and Exercise. Which leads me to beleive that they don’t work at all, its just the diet and exercise, and the diet pill gets all the credit.
January 4th, 2008 at 1:02 am
What would happen if you took all the pills at the same time?
0_0
but how about just hitting the gym and eating a salad once in a while.
January 4th, 2008 at 5:44 am
You should do one on the top ten penis enlargement pills.
January 4th, 2008 at 8:33 am
Pyrate: It’s interesting you say that because I know for a fact that Relacore has a “PM” version. Of course the only difference in the formula is “soothing lemon balm.”
Sandra: Not all pills claim this. There are many which claim to work better with diet and exercise but most of the pills on this list claim that you don have to exercise or diet.
Mav: I wouldn’t recommend taking any of these pills with each other without consulting a physician or pharmacist. I agree, hitting up the gym and eating good foods do far better in the long run than any of these supplements.
January 4th, 2008 at 9:20 am
A guy named Gravy calls the list boring. I love it. How about the top ten sauces? Hollandaise, Bigarade, veloute, demiglace, vin blanc, mueniere, etc. Help me out here. And quit eating so much. Fatties.
January 4th, 2008 at 9:25 am
If you really wanna shed some poundage, I recommend taking one each of these pills in the morning, with my patented “cinque duble Mocha2″ Five double shots of espresso with a 1/4 lb. of 80% dark unsweetened cocoa. Fucking rockshow. Increases productivity, ’til your atherosclerotic heart explodes. WoooooooHooooo!
January 4th, 2008 at 9:31 am
Yeah. I found this link about massive caffeine overdose. Guy almost died.

January 4th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Hey, where’s the Adderall at?
January 4th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Lyndsey: I just did a list of OTC supplements. Also, Adderall is designed specifically to help ADHD and narcolepsy.
January 4th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Adderall. That kills me. LOL. The addys are an amphetamine, definitely an appetite suppressant. Also raise your GPA but quick. Who needs sleep?
January 5th, 2008 at 1:44 am
i vote meth should be number one.
January 6th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Hmmm, interesting list actually. I’ve worked part time at a health food/supplement store for almost five years and I can tell you that most of these do work, depending on the person using them.
The top sellers (that I am familiar with) aren’t on this list. They are usually metabolism boosters that give one a good boost of energy, good for pre-workouts. Alot of them are using the word “Hardcore” with them, like the newer Hydroxycut-Hardcore, which isn’t supposed to change appetite only increase metabolism.
It does help alot if you reduce calories/fats and increase your exercise, hell, just walking a little bit more will help your metabolism.
January 6th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
erin:: caffeine is a form of meth.
January 7th, 2008 at 12:33 am
Diet pills will not be a proper way to losses weight. Diet plan only will give good results without side effects.
January 7th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
We all know that good diet and exercise is the best way to keep weight off but I’m sure most of us have needed ‘hope’ in a bottle at least once or twice. I’m always interested in reading about this type of stuff…knowledge is power.
Good List.
January 8th, 2008 at 6:29 am
Catriona: Thanks. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
January 9th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
None of those pills actually work. They are just stocked full of caffeine. Best diet pills = CLENBUTEROL!! Or an ECA stack works just as well. ECA= Ephedra and Caffeine.
January 9th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Taylor: I mentioned the ECA stack, but it doesn’t count since ephedra was banned. As for Clenbuterol, I’ve not heard mention of it before now but from the article on Wikipedia it looks pretty good. I’d be wary considering how new it is, though.
January 9th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Your fat because of: sugar, pop, carbs, and too big of portions.
Your fat because: most of us sit on our butt in an office. We still have our ancient genes, they weren’t designed to sit all day. Kids with no recess and all classes is another mistake.
Your fat because: stress, fear, noise, and low self esteem.
Your fat because: your growth hormone is decreasing with age. Lifting weights (heavy not 20 reps of 15 pounds) promotes HGH “naturally”. Push it till it burns now and then. Cancel the cable, put the book down, turn off the computer and hang out in nature and go for a hike (you were built to do that, not sitting on your ass all day at the office, school, and home.
Your fat because: our science now allows out of shape people to reproduce, passing on “fat” genes–before they would of died in the ancient days.

re: Truth b told
THANKS! We never would have figured that out if it weren’t for your sheer brilliance.
January 25th, 2008 at 11:13 am
im over weight and i hardly eat a thing,
I stick to my three meals a day, normal portions,
i detest junk food, and i dont drink any fizzy or alcahol… and i dont smoke, and i do cardio boxing.. what gives!!!
January 25th, 2008 at 11:37 am
Dan: I’m not a doctor but it sounds like a slow metabolism. Try eating every 2 and a half to 3 hours. Small portions with about 50% complex carbs (whole wheats are best), 35% protein, and 15% good fats. The best proteins are lowfat chicken and egg whites. The total amount of calories you should be eating is determined by your lean body mass (body weight in lbs/kg – body fat% in lbs/kg). Also, even though you do cardio boxing, try lifting a few weights. That will add to your muscle which will allow your body to burn more calories.
If you want more specific advice I need more info like age, height, weight and fat%.
February 4th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Diet pills are BAD for you. They will only make you gain your weight back after you are done taking them. They not worth the money
February 6th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
I have taken Hydroxycut Hardcore and the regular Hydroxycut.
I can only say that I have seen an increase in workouts when im at the gym. Ive read that the caffeine is suppose to help you push your workouts more and delay the feeling of being tired. The directions on the bottle say to take somewhere to 3 to 6 pills a day, which is madness, cuase it would probably feel like crack. The most I took was 3 pills for a day. Did it work for me? I would say it did. i spent more time at the gym, and burned a hell of alot more calories.
I was wary of taking them at first, since ive read of people having complications such as rapid heartbeat, excessive urination, and headaches. I took those pills and I didnt get any type of those symptons. My only conclusion is that I am not that sensitive to caffeine. I never wanted to give it to my sister, because she is very sensitive to caffeine and I fear something will happen to her if she did take them.
I guess my take on it would be to those who are sensitive to caffeine to be extremely careful. I know some of you are thinking that you drink coffee everyday as a pick me up, but these pills can be something else. I also beleive that simply taking these pills and doing nothing will NOT shed the pounds. You must take them and then exercise. You dont need a gym, all you need to do is walk, jog or run around somewhere. And definetly mind what you eat.
Another thing on my mind was that, in case these pills didnt work, they sure worked as a great placebo because of the increased workouts. But so far, I beleive in my mind that they did their job and that was to boost the metabolism and energy, but it has to be spent doing some kind of workout.
SO there, just another precaution to those with health problems and those sensitive to caffeine to be careful.

FDA doesn’t regulate diet supplements..
February 13th, 2008 at 6:01 am
Kym: The FDA regulates all ingredients that go into dietary supplements. The claims dietary supplements make do not have to be FDA approved though.
March 15th, 2008 at 7:28 am
I thought the ban on Ephedra was lifted???
March 17th, 2008 at 5:41 am
showa: I think the stores were allowed to sell of their current supply which leads many people to believe that ephedrine products are still being manufactured.
March 19th, 2008 at 6:35 am
Not Advise to buy the diet pills contain ephedrine
April 25th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
I go to the gym 3 times a week and mountain bike at least once a week. I also diet and eat right, no sugar low carb. I have 10 more pounds I just can’t get ride of, I’m looking for the little extra boost.
April 25th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
rob: Much as you may hate to hear it, I’m by no means a professional and my best advice to you is to consult a professional. From what I do know (keep in mind this is purely opinion), I’d suggest perhaps changing up your routine. Try going to the gym 4 times a week for a couple weeks and try lower weights, and more reps. See what happens and let me know.
June 12th, 2008 at 9:20 am
The problem with the “eat less, exercise more” prescription is that it is very very easy to eat an extra 500, 1000, or even 2500 calories per day, but very very hard to eat 500 less or burn 500 with exercise. And if you are conscientious for a week and then somehow get tempted to eat an extra 3000 calories over the weekend, you are back at square one. Or worse.
I come from a family that has weight problems. My mother kept her weight pretty much ideal her whole life by keeping track of calorie content every meal and snack she ate and walking or biking every day. I’m not saying she never over-indulged. But she knew what she was eating. She was a little crazy, yes? But she died very old, and of Alzheimer’s not heart disease or type 2 diabetes.
It’s hard to do this. But it’s very enlightening. It helps you discover that your favorite restaurant or your best friend is pushing stuff you don’t actually enjoy enough to die for, and that maybe the second (or even the first) dessert is counterproductive. She ate everything she wanted. She just counted it. If she wanted pecan pie, she had it — either rarely or in a very small portion or by omitting the rest of lunch.
Personally, I’ve had a very good experience with hypnosis. I lost 30 pounds and kept them off for five years. The guy’s name is Don Mannarino. He has a CD he sells over the internet, but my personal success with him was a $50 group session at a local high school in Ohio.
I still count calories. It makes me think twice about the mindless potato-chip, bread basket, cookie, and fruit punch dipping.
Overweight people are not stupid or lazy. They are just victims of a society that has far too few sidewalks, far too much stuff to do tied to a desk before the day is over, and far too many junk food aisles in the grocery store.
June 19th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
Love riding bikes. Don’t have one though. Can’t get it home. Won’t fit in my car.
June 19th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
Vera Lynn: I just stick it in my trunk and have it sticking halfway out of my car.
July 16th, 2008 at 2:28 am
All of you don’t have a life, to just sit on your computer and respond to all this bull. You should all get off your ass and workout period.

XENICAL = BEST
August 6th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
hi,someone can tell me which pills is the best upwards.
August 6th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
^^Haha. Sorry I have no clue
August 6th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
CANDY says XENICAL is the best. Does that help?
August 7th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Ruby: If there’s one thing I’d like you to take from this list it would be that there is no diet pill/plan that is right for everyone. You should consult your doctor before trying any of these.
September 19th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Diet Pills are strictly placebos and nothing more.
Hit the gymnasium, eat right and do lots of push aways…
Set realistic weight loss goals and make damn sure you achieve them…
Weight loss of a permanent nature can be achieved like this…
I learned this the hard way, only recently, at the advanced age of 45…
December 13th, 2008 at 12:32 am
i would say if your truly thinking about taking diet pills see how bad the caffeine will effect you first…. drink a lot of coffee…. i mean if your willing to risk hurting yourself just to be thinner (even after hearing of people having heart attacks after taking that crap) you will probably do any stupid thing anyone says…
If you are saying you want to take this crap to be “skinny” or “healthy” your not that smart. be happy with who you are stop having such a low self esteem (and if you cant get some therapy)

Have used hoodia, found acai berries a bit more effective.
I’ve been using Acai Berry Supreme for a few months already, can’t say anything bad about it.

Do you think people that take Diet pills and go to the gym and eat right maybe… are losing weight from going to the gym and eating right. but they are.. telling themselves that the diet pill is actually doing the work so they keep going. like its all in their head.. a placibo almost.

It’s not that hard to lose 500 calories…all it requires is some dedication. A committed hour on a treadmill or elliptical can lose around 450 calories (especially if you aren’t holding on to the handles). If an hour on a single machine is rough, break it up half and half on two, or half hour on the treadmill, 10 minutes on a stairclimber and jog for 20, or skip the gym altogether and do outdoorsy things, and so on and so forth. For those who can physically handle it, exercise is not bad after you get over mental hangups.
The worst part of the “eat less, weigh more” approach is the guilt that comes from indulging which makes people jump off the exercise wagon. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not evil to have extra hot fudge on your ice cream AS LONG AS it’s not an hourly occurrence. Once in a while I attack a huge bag of Ruffles and sour cream. I go back to the gym feeling no more remorse for that than I would the baked fish and salad a week earlier. Food is NOT a bad thing. However, it’d be easier all around to simply put down that extra Twinkie and take the dog for a half hour walk. If twinkies will survive a nuclear holocaust, it will probably still be on the counter after you work off that first twinkie, the two ho-hos, the sno-balls, and moonpie.
But to be honest, the best diet pill in the world is a workout buddy or fitness class. Then there’s someone or something to motivate you and you don’t have to rely solely on yourself. That’s essentially what most people are looking for when they seek diet pills.

A majority of the diet pills listed are guilty of producing the Placebo effect.
http://www.kentgarden.co.uk/2009/01/27/placebo-diet-pills/
When a new diet product is being clinically trialed it undergoes a double blind placebo test where the actual product is tested aginst a fake or dummy one.
Half the participants are given the product and the other half – A “sugar pill”
In a large number of cases the placebo (dummy) has proven to be just as effective as the real product.
Which begs the question – can the mind heal the body.

Interesting that Hoodia is number one and the brand specifically used to highlight this Hoodoba.
Without wishing to cast aspersions on any one particular Hoodia brand there are that many that use the raw powder rather than the cheaper extract

I take ephedrine and chromium nicotinate, and I have lost about 20 pounds in three months. I go to a weight loss doctor, and I’m not even considered overweight(anymore). I am about 5′2” and 125. I would like to get to 110 eventually. My doctor perscribed the ephedrine and chromium to me so I can lose weight, along with a natural thyroid supplement (since my thyroid doesnt work at all). I like that he helped me before I became obese. I think its stupid that most doctors that specialize in weight loss only help those who are highly obese. Obesity runs in my family and I think its better for the problem to be nipped in the bud. I also had to take a couple classes on healthy eating before I got my pills. He stressed PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN! It keeps you full. Anything that will dissolve in a glass of water is probably really fattening (a doughnut, bread, sugar, etc). Eat a lot of protein in the morning and you will be full all day.

Also, I tried stackers, zantrex, hydroxycut, and relacore. None of them really worked, but stackers and zantrex make you feel like your on crack! There is so much caffiene that when i first took them I shook and had cold sweats! Definitely scary and not for me.

The best diet pill should be a multivitamin. To everyone who says diet pills don’t work, they are meant to be SUPPLEMENTS to a good diet and exercise, read the bottle I guarantee it says it on there. If you want to lose weight, diet and exercise. I know that’s not what you want to hear but that’s the truth. The diet industry profits billions of dollars each year but America is still grossly overweight because we are lazy and are looking for an easy way out. Do yourself a favor and do it the right way. It’ll be better in the long run.
