Plenty of people have speculated when the world was going to end. The following list explores possible means of the destruction of the Earth’s and/or the human race. This list contains far out 2012 prophecies, probable disasters and just interesting rumors. I have intentionally left out Nostradamus since most of his “prophecies” have been debunked. To read more on this subject please see Top Ten Failed Apocalyptic Predictions.

The Book of Apocalypse from the Bible (also known as the book of Revelation) is probably the most well known end of the world prophecy (at least in Western Culture). There has been endless debate on what parts of the Bible are meant literally, and what parts are meant symbolically, and this is doubly true for this specific book. With vivid imagery and strange statements that leave room for interpretation, people all around the world have spent their lifetimes trying to decode the Book of Apocalypse. Despite these debates, there are some parts that interpreters agree on. The major one is that during the end times there will be a false prophet masquerading as a messiah, as well as the presence of the antichrist.
The earth will face destruction in many forms. People will have to suffer from earthquakes, fire, plague, hailstorms, famine and many other calamities, in all shapes and forms. After these cataclysmic events, the Antichrist will gain domination over the world. They will rule the world for a certain unknown amount of time, which will then be followed by Armageddon. During Armageddon, a colossal battle will occur between the forces of evil (the Antichrist) and the forces of good (Jesus Christ), in which Jesus prevails. The Bible itself never gives specific dates, of course; instead all of its prophecies are based on a timeline of milestones and events.

The Hindu system of cycles, inherited from the Vedic civilization, is broken down into 4 time cycles. Krita/Satya Yuga (Golden Age), Treta Yaga (Silver Age), Dvapara Yuga (Copper/Bronze Age), and the Kali Yuga (Iron Age). In one of the oldest Vedic writings, attributed to the god-man Manu, the four yugas are said to add up to 24,000 years, but when they are enumerated they only come to 12,000 years. The Krita/Satya Yuga lasts 4,800 years; the Treta Yuga lasts 3,600; the Dvapara lasts 2,400 years and the Kali Yuga lasts 1,200 years. The “descent into darkness”- Kali Yuga – started when the summer solstice (June) Sun was aligned with the apparent Galactic Center, around 10,800 BC. The “Ascent back into light” takes place now, when the winter solstice (December) Sun aligns with the apparent Galactic Center around 2002-2012.
Kali yuga is known as the age of the male demon, Kali. The scriptures, like Srimad-Bhagavatam 12.2, teach that during the 432,000 year age of Kali humanity deteriorates and falls into barbarism. “Religion, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, physical strength and memory diminish with each passing day.” Severe droughts and plagues are everywhere. Slovenliness, illness, hunger and fear spread. Nations are continually at war with one another. People in this age will be lazy, greedy and deceitful. The end of Kali Yuga is marked by the return of the Kalki, the last reincarnation of Vishnu, who will battle the demon Kali.

The I Ching, or Book of Changes, consists of an arrangement of sixty-four hexagrams (six-line figures) consisting of two types of lines, yin and yang, and has been used as an oracle. Coins or sticks are thrown, the combination of which signifies one or two hexagrams, and the second hexagram represents the predicted change from the first hexagram. Terrence and Dennis McKenna make a case that the I Ching was originally used as a lunar calendar in which the sixty-four six-line hexagrams (384 lines total) represented the 384 days in a thirteen-month lunar year. The earliest arrangement of the hexagrams of the I Ching is the King Wen Sequence. The theory that emerged from the I Ching study is known as Novelty theory.
If the wave model is a valid theory of time, it should be possible to pinpoint on the wave that corresponds to the date that something important happened in history. To carry out this operation, Peter Meyer developed the Timewave Zero software. To see how the Timewave Zero software works click here. McKenna believes that during this time there will be a surge in information and evolutionary breakthroughs will start coming in nanoseconds. The theory is not deterministic; it does not say what will happen in the future, only the levels of novelty that whatever happens will have to fulfill.

A World War is a war involving more than 2 continents, in which at least 20 major countries participate in an attack against a common enemy, and which has the attention of the average civilian, due to the significant loss of life. A lot of theorists claim that the terrorist attack on the World Trade centers and subsequent war with Iraq is the beginning of WWIII. Initially 40+ countries were a part of the coalition that invaded Iraq. As of August 2010, 4,733 Coalition (including US) soldiers had been killed in Iraq. The US deaths made up 4,415 of those deaths. Since the beginning of the U.S. reconstruction effort, 224 U.S. civilians have died in Iraq (2007 report.)
The Cuban Missile Crisis (in 1962) is generally thought to be the point at which the risk of World War III was closest. With the globalization of the marketplace and trade and the spread of nukes, it has become increasingly costly and suicidal to start WW3. So in theory, nations are, more than ever, unlikely to start wars, yet here we are on the brink of another war with Iran. Ever increasing oil prices, economic depression, North American union and the declaration of martial law within the US are all, supposedly, factors that will contribute to the next world war.

A web bot is a tool used to speed-read the internet in order to find patterns or waves of behavior. It was created in 1997, originally to predict stock market trends. The Web Bot conceptualizes a future pattern of behavior, based on the new and recent psychological queries of the masses. Web Bot works by using a form of the “Wisdom of the Crowd” (the process of taking into account the collective opinion of a group of individuals rather than a single expert), with web crawlers that search the internet for about 300,000 keywords with emotional context. Web Bot acted much like an Internet prophet, creating prophecies of things to come based on the chatter of the entire world.
There have been six Web Bot reports in all. The first one was released in 1997, and the final report was released March 12, 2010. Web Bot claims to have predicted the terrorist attacks of September 11th, the 2001 anthrax scare and the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. The Web Bot has predicted that a cataclysm will devastate the planet in the year 2012, possibly a reversing of Earth’s magnetic poles or a small series of nuclear attacks leading up to a major attack during the year. The Web Bot predictions for 2012 are as follows: Sustainable living practices becoming the only option for living and Magnetosphere problems causing the burning of crops.

On December 21, 2012, the solstice sun will align with the dark rift in the Milky Way. The dark rift (Great Rift) is the widest part of the Milky Way and corresponds to the direction of the center of the galaxy. As the alignment occurs, the solstice meridian will align with the crossing point of the ecliptic (the path of the Sun, moon and planets) and the plane of the galaxy, which is called the galactic equator, and pass on the other side. Alignments occur every 36 years, but this alignment is unique. At this time the sun appears to just touch one part of the dark rift that snakes its way along the Galactic Equator.
This is an area of the night sky considered important to Maya cosmology with respect to spiritual rebirth mythology. In some versions, the combined gravity of the galactic black hole and the sun will cause earthquakes, tsunamis, floods or severe weather. In other versions the alignment will cause more esoteric issues, such as a blockage of an undefined type of energy emanating from the black hole, or from the galactic core, or both. Aligning with the rift could cause major disturbances in the orbits of inner planets. Some people believe that this event could place the Earth in danger of being sucked into a black hole at the center of the dark rift in the Milky Way.

Geologist Gregg Braden has made the claim that the Earth’s magnetic field has dropped 38% (measured in magnetometers) in the past two thousand years (about 1.9% per century), and the rate of decline has risen to 6% in the past century. Basically, the global magnetic field is dropping at an accelerating rate toward zero point, at which time the polarity of earth will reverse. It is unknown whether the decline of the magnetic field will continue to increase. The magnetic field last flipped 780,000 years ago, but the time between reversals has varied from a few thousand years to 35 million years. During this time additional magnetic poles could appear in the weakening field. A compass then would point in different directions depending on the location. Then the magnetic field would almost completely disappear for several thousand years before re-emerging in the opposite direction.
The effects of this reversal are hard to predict. Some theorists claim that it will not have any effect on humans. With the modern reliance on electricity and electromagnetic effects (radio, satellite communications, GPS), the world will have technological disruptions in the event of a full field reversal. One effect that may occur during a magnetic reversal is that the Earth may not be protected from charged particles streaming from the sun. These particles are called the solar wind, and could be dangerous to life if they reached the Earth’s surface. The amount of radiation reaching the surface of the Earth would definitely increase, but not by much. More people would suffer skin cancer, but we would not all die horribly from radiation poisoning.

An epidemic is when a disease outbreak strikes a large number of people, in a given area, at the same time. The epidemic becomes a pandemic when it spreads over a wide geographical area, or throughout many countries. Although most epidemics are caused by infectious organisms, the term can be applied to an outbreak of any chronic disease, such as cancer or heart disease.
Bubonic plague (1300-1400), typhus (1501- 1587), SARS (2002), recurring epidemics of scarlet fever, typhoid and yellow fever (1865-1873), and HIV (1980-present) are some infectious diseases that have resulted in epidemic or pandemic outbreaks. It might not be swine or avian flu, but flu researchers say a deadly pandemic is not a case of if, but when.
The ancients couldn’t predict when this would happen, but with recent outbreaks of swine and avian flu, it seems likely that another flu like this is on the horizon. The last great plague (Spanish flu) hit 1918-1920. Researchers estimate that between 20 million to 100 million were killed. The call for sanitary reform and the development of new vaccines at the end of the nineteenth century ended the rapidly spreading plague. However, since then the incidence of infectious diseases has steadily risen in the past 100 years. Infection spreads more easily now due to people traveling more often. The outbreak of anthrax in 2001, and the threat of biological warfare suggest that the US is neither equipped to handle a mass outbreak, nor the panic resulting from such outbreak.

There are about 500 active volcanoes in the world. There are three known supervolcanoes in the US, (including Yellowstone), Lake Toba in Indonesia, Taupo in New Zealand and Aira Caldera in Japan. A supervolcano is a volcano capable of producing a volcanic eruption with an eruption radius greater than 240 cubic miles (1,000 cubic kilometers). Supervolcanoes are the most dangerous, with a Volcanic Explosivity Index of 8. This is thousands of times larger than most historic volcanic eruptions. Geologists believe that Yellowstone is the most likely supervolcano to erupt next, as it has been exhibiting signs of unrest, with earthquake swarms, ground deformation and considerable heat and gas emissions.
Earthquakes are the primary indicator that a volcano is about to erupt. The Yellowstone caldera experiences about 1500 measurable earthquakes a year. The last eruption of Yellowstone was 640,000 years ago. If it did erupt, expect half of the USA to be wiped out, and major variations in global climate for many years. Residual volcanic ash in the atmosphere would result in the devastation of world agriculture, severe disruption of food supplies and mass starvation. Yellowstone could emit 2,000 millions of tons of sulphuric acid, and could produce the equivalent of a “nuclear winter”, when the dust and debris from the fallout of a nuclear war block out sunlight for several years, causing worldwide famines.

In August, 2010, NASA reported that there would be a solar storm sometime in 2012. Every 11 years or so, changes in our star’s magnetic field bring on an increase in sunspots, solar flares and coronal mass ejections. The result is a barrage of charged particles hurling toward Earth. A solar storm is a sudden burst of very fast, charged particles from the Sun. It could be the result of a solar flare or a coronal mass ejection (CME) or both. A coronal mass ejection (CME) is a massive burst of solar wind (stream of charged particles ejected from the sun). A solar flare is a sudden eruption of magnetic energy released on the surface of the sun, usually accompanied by bursts of electromagnetic radiation. Ultraviolet and x-ray radiation from solar flares often induce electromagnetic disturbances in the earth’s atmosphere.
Solar storms would affect power grids, thus losing electricity. The Solar Storm itself would not cause an apocalypse, but it would bring about a sort of domino effect. People would then lose access to their heat/air conditioning, refrigeration, phone service and GPS. Also, drinking water distribution systems could break down in a couple of hours. Normally, a “Faraday Cage” protects the satellite’s internal equipment from external electrical charges, but constant bombardment of charges would cause satellites to break down. There are over 936 operating satellites in space, worth an estimated $200 billion to replace. Magnetic storm currents acting on gas pipelines are known to enhance the rate of corrosion over time, with potentially catastrophic cumulative effects.

Catholics don’t believe in the concept of the rapture – first described in 17th century America, but they certainly have no end of prophesies for the end times. The most popular of these is the three days of darkness, prophesied by a large number of mystics over the centuries, including St Padre Pio, the stigmatic priest pictured above. Preceding the three days it is predicted that a sign (in the shape of a cross) will appear in the sky, that will make all people know that God is real. It will then be followed by three days of darkness, in which Satan and his minions are unleashed on the earth, in order to take as many souls to hell as possible. The scariest part of the prophesy is that you must stay inside, with all windows and doors covered, because if you look out you will die instantly; the devils will try to tempt you out of the house by pretending to be your loved ones in need of protection. Go here to read more about the three days of darkness.

The science predictions are a bit more sobering than the religious ones. (At least to me)
We seem overdue for a cataclysm…
Also never heard of “The Three Days of Darkness”
Make a good movie…
Good list.
It would make a great movie
It is a movie…in spanish
Hope I die first before the world ends. . .
"hope I die before I get old" – the Who
immortal words
You, too? I thought I was the only one who felt that way…
Anything that contains 'vivid imagery and strange statements' is most likely bull because it allows for people to go crazy and relate it to whatever they want, as similar or far off the connection really seems.
Nice job getting "first" in the post without being deleted!
There was a first post. He said "First!" Then a lot of bull*****. Then he got deleted.
Me, Too.
Good stuff.
Just wanted to point out, for #10, that it doesn't do to make any statements about what everyone agrees on. There is a large body of work about the Book of Revelation not being a book of prophecy at all, but a coded book of history. In other words, it isn't a hard-to-read book about the future, but a book about Roman times written in a way to bypass official censure.
Wow, that's interesting!
That is what I have always been taught. If you study the book, it makes sense too.
Ho Ho…
Please rephrase it… These words are 'Politically Incorrect…'
You are early!
Follow the following mantra and the Apocalyptic Theories and Happenings wont matter much…
We real cool.
We Left school.
We Lurk late.
We Strike straight.
We Sing sin.
We Thin gin.
We Jazz June.
We Die soon.
– by Gwendolyn Brooks
Enjoy Life and enjoy such lists (but only on LISTVERSE)…
yes indeed – "Enjoy Life" without fear
i read this in my class this year
*i read that poem in my literature class this semester.
Very interesting list. A little bit of mysticism, a little bit of science. And alotta cool stuff.
… In other words, we’re doomed no matter what
really gripping list . I hope i live to see the end of the world, man what a show thats gonna be! I dunno about 2012 , its creepy that more than 1 of these items point out 2012 , but i dunno . Death by John Cusack thats gotta be the worst.
I hope the world ends in 2011, just to quiet all the 2012 theorists.
If the world will end in 2012, how come my Spam will expire on 2013?
so true, man
There are like a million theories and predictions on how the world's gonna end. Every day someone comes up with a new theory and new date for the world's end. I'm just glad I've survived so far
We are all doomed, DOOOOOOOOOOMED I tells ya.
Wow I really hope I die a painless death o_O
I think we all concur with that!
where's the fun in that? if you die in pain, you'd like it, because you wouldn't be in pain anymore.
Hmm interesting list, but I feel like the topic of this list, and the list itself, have been covered before on listverse. Maybe it was somewhere else, nonetheless, good list.
We have had ridiculous theories before so that may be what you are thinking of.
Oh god I really hope the world doesn't end because of WWIII, SSSOOO manycounties have nukes now that it's just gonna be catastrophic!!
If there is a nuclear war then I want the missle to hit me right in the head so that I die before the exposion. I do not want to "live" after it happens.
agreed!
"missile" I dated a guy in the Army and I made this mistake once. Once. It was 24 years ago. Ill never forget.
And yet – if someone were to wipe out Iran’s enrichment facilities – or assassinate the Emperors of North Korea – the UN and the “unbiased” media would come out with condemnations of such acts.
(I guess we could bomb the UN and assassinate the media heads beforehand – YEAH that’s the ticket!!!)
jeez, I didn't know that N. Korea was an Empire! and that it's possible to have multiple emperors! and bombing the UN is A TOTALLY AWESOME IDEA!! it'll be all "ka-BOOM!" and the people will be dying and our own soil on fire and every other country will be *****ed at us and then we become the enemy of the world and all kinds of crazy fun stuff happens!
I think we will nuke ourselves back to the Stone Age very soon…
considering that you typed "manycounties", I doubt you could name 4 countries that do
Number 7 (WW3) reminded me of this http://www.endofworld.net/
Lol this always me laugh dude!!
Best flash video of all time…" Motherland !!"
Everyone reading these comments needs to watch that – hilarious! Especially Australians. WTF?!
I don't mean to sound like a dumbass, but when I read "Book Apocalypse", I was imagining a world similar to Julio Cortazar's short story "The End of the World of the End." In it, there is an overproduction of books in the world which reaches a point where it is occupies ever bit of space (even the ocean becomes a dumping ground for these books) and the people of the world are forced to live on ships moored on "cardboard seas". I highly recommend people read it.
There is a conspiracy theory that swine flu and some other flus have been created by the government, I forget why though. Anyone know?
Oil. Big business. Health industry. Just throw those words around with no notion what they mean or why they might want to do it and you will seem wise to the average interneter these days
But not to the average Listverser! Hopefully…
To erase your memory . . .
The three days of darkness one is absolutely terrifying if you read more in depth to it.
I agree – I am forever forgetting to buy my consecrated beeswax candles. I think I will do it this week. And don't come knocking at my door – I won't be opening it!
The best part is all the "career women"on their "pill" become birth machines…
you dont have to tell me twice how scary this is! growing up, my mom would tell me about it. i was just a child when she would tell me these things and i would start crying because i was so scared. she truly traumatized me.
Then you know you’ve been taught by the Catholic Church. Nothing there but scare mongering XD
A part of me actually can't wait for 2012 because I really wanna know if any of these theories/predictions relating 2010 are true, because theres so many of them! But then the other part of me is realy scared. Guess we'll find out in 2012
lol, i'm with you on the wait. i wonder if on dec 21, 2012 i will be saying, "huh, no *****"
They won't be – but what a great distraction it has been in the meantime
it is now the third or fourth time i read this list here with another title. c'mon now…
Thank you! I was just about to post that!
they should really smoke something good to get some inspiration…
Untrue. I vet all lists. Use the search function to find the replicas and post them here. They don't exist.
i didn't said they are 1 to 1 replicas, but they were all (almost) debated here in one form or another on other apcalyptic lists.
It intrigues me to know how the world will end, but there's no way I want to be a part of it.
I’m with you on that!
Love the new site update
#5, that big galactic allignment happens every year, on dec 21. It's really nothing.
Place a round object on your desk swirl your finger around it, pretending your finger is the earth, the round object is the sun and you are the galactic center, does your finger not perfectly align with the round object and you on each swirl?
No, it is different, try reading it again.
Me too – we launched the new touch mobile site today too so hopefully that is to everyone's taste – or at least the taste of those who can afford an iPhone/iPod Touch
Yesss…I’m currently reading this list using my iPhone and I have to say it’s much more mobile friendly.
iPad, too?
WHoaaw! This is worth reading. Very interesting. Thanks!
Miss me anyone? Yeah, didn't think I'd post today, did you? Sorry to disappoint; I was a bit late to the game today. Won't happen again. What did I miss?
Super volcanos are fake. If you search them up on wikipedia it says they're fake. Also the picture for the 3 days of darkness is disturbing. That guy's ugly.
A big fat liar is what you are mr Kubrick. Go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_volcano#Known_…
Nevertheless, you are a far more pleasant commenter when you arrive late. I suggest you do it more in future
Yeah I know. I lied. I only put that in so the comment would be list-related, and wouldn't get deleted. And it worked. I didn't even look up super volcanos.
and I came late because of *****
With yourself? Doesn't count. Takes too short a time.
with his right hand.. or left..
left. my right hand was groping the girl
Your sister?
Actually it was me darling
The blow up doll doesn't count.
it was a blow up doll of my sister
Sorry bro, must have been your hand cos I was banging your sister mother and father at the time
Because everything on wikipedia is real…
Good list, but I'm really hoping for the zombie apocalypse..that'd be so cool. Or maybe the water levels reach so high everywhere in the world that great white sharks eat up everyone a floatin' and a swimmin'..that'd be bad-ass yo.
good list. except #4. im pretty sure if we had no magnet field protecting the earth we would die from excess solar radiation. our atmosphere does nothing to protect us from solar flares.
read #1
3 out of 10 lists said about 2012, well I hope it's true.
And don΄t forget the zombie theory also!!! Don't fool your self people…
Oh and to add a little something…
Elaine: According to my source, the end of the world will be on February 14th, in the year two thousand and sixteen.
Peter Venkman: Valentine's day. Bummer.
these are just impossible and stupid
OMG I never noticed, you're in the plus plus category now…
yeah people thumb me up no matter what i say these days
not as of yesterday – we WILL return you to zero to match your IQ
- got it folks???
up or down – doesn't matter which – JUST KEEP HIM AT ZERO
and so ?you should be seriously locked up in mental hospital ;(
Youve had an imposter around here lately.
There`ll never be a third world war. Will there ever be another Hitler, who`ll try to conquer the world, kill millions, and try to create a Master-Race? Course there won`t. And please, don`t say that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is "The New Hitler."
"A World War is a war involving more than 2 continents, in which at least 20 major countries participate in an attack against a common enemy, and which has the attention of the average civilian, due to the significant loss of life" – ………………….yes there will. And if the US enters into conflict with China , and the effects (even before full blown fighting erupts) will be felt by everyone .China makes everything they supply to every country in the world , countries will be forced to take sides. And those Chinese commie dicks are supporting N korea so that makes the threat very real . most of southern and eastern Africa will fall to china , they have their claws in ball deep here already.
I think the N. Koreans are gonna get it soon and I don't think the Chinese will stand with them. They can't afford it – yet.
one word – Destabilize
I want to have ***** with your children mom424!
On 2012 Skynet will gain control of the global networks and terminators will rise against the human race..
Didnt we have a list like this already?
Or are we being like Hollywood and just remaking originals?
This is retarded… if the Book of Revelations' prophecies were true, why would the devil fight? Wouldnt it seem like a waste of time?
If everything were to follow the exact words of the book, wouldnt satan be like, "oh yea uhmm ***** that… im just gunna sit here and roast some marshmallows."
Misery loves company – he wants to take as many down with him as possible. Satan is already aware that he's lost, he was cast down from heaven to earth. The worst he can do now is to cause as much damage as possible to God's creation before he is permanently cast into hell.
It is ironically God's mercy in not sending Satan immediately into hell that allows us to have the free will to choose between God or Satan. While it is true that there would be no sin without Satan, we would also be boring robots that just did whatever God wanted without any choice because there would be no other choice, but we were given the opportunity to be free beings who can choose God or reject Him.
That reminds of a Super Nintendo game called 'Shin Megami Tensei' in which all types of paranormal creatures invade our world and you have to choose to fight for God, Satan or neither for control of our world. I think this game spawned the Persona series.
The Book of Revelation is not an actual apocalyptic prediction, it is a coded attack on Roman persecution of the church and a message to early Christians to take heart.
31 DECEMBER 2012; 387 days to go ‘n’ counting LORD have mercy on us:What a terifying list !
aren't they 759?
it's december 12 ijot!
Actually, Yomar, its December 21, 'ijot'.
um that 2011 buddy add 365
On #1, a few months ago there was a solar storm and it is the reason for the floods in Pakistan and the other such disruptions following the philosophy “As above and so below”…its also found in the Book of Job.
On #10 here is a different perspective that might clarify http://www.scribd.com/doc/44001821 if you are willing to scrutinize deeper since #9 is very similar to #10 raising questions of whether those things mentioned in #10 aren’t speculation and wishful thinking.
Nice List – but you're an idiot! The IS NO "Book of Apocalypse" – - – it's not even called "The Book of Revelation"
It's simply "Revelation" or in some transcriptions "The Revelation of St.John"
If you can't get something as basic as that correct, why should anyone take anything else you write seriously?
This makes me wonder who’s the real idiot for even using such a word. The Book of Revelation is also known as the Book of Apocalypse and adding “the Book of” can be done to any chapter since they were almost all separate upon writing except the Torah, since the chapters in it were written by the same author, Moses. The other part is the Zaboor (Prophecies of Darkness) that includes all the other Books of what is the now so called Old Testament . Thus Revelations can be called the Book of Revelations.
This http://www.scribd.com/doc/33559399 might prove you and them wrong given both parties have eyes to see.
Theirs nothing basic about Christianity and its strangle hold on the common sense of the world .
correction – "There's nothing basic about organized superstition and its strangle hold on the common sense of the world . "
(now it covers all religions)
They are called the books of the bible retard.
I'll be wishing u all a Merry Christmas on Dec 25th 2012.
It will be the zombies that get us.
Interesting list. Got some signs that just went up here in the US predicting jesus's return in May. These signs were followed by the "End of the World" signs. Gotta love it.
I'm not worried about the end of the world coming from an outside source. I'm more worried about mankind trying to get it started.
Neat list for today.
zombies – true that
Zombie apocalypse- definitely true..and if it doesn't, we'll try to make it happen–there must be some way.
Count me in!
Hell if we have to go might as well have some fun first –
Field Reporter: "Chief, if I were surrounded by eight or ten of these things, would I stand a chance?
Sheriff McClelland: Well, that's no problem, if you got a gun shoot 'em in the head. That's the sure way to kill 'em. If you don't get yourself a club, beat 'em or burn 'em. They go up pretty easy. "
- Night of the Living Dead
Count me in too! I'd love to play Resident Evil one last time before going to hell
Great list. Love the Bonus – I mean, it is the most interesting, not that I love the idea behind it. Would make a great movie idea.
Just as long as they don't let Keanu Reeves near it.
Yeah – as Blues has alluded to – it was meant for John Cusack
Most of these arn't as controversial as they are stupid.
@jfrater i think there is a bug in synchronising comments because my first comment i made in mobile mode doesn't appear in full site mode. Here is the comment:

also what happened to the like and dislike buttons? they are usefull.
frigging scary!
What cheerful thoughts to end the week on. Very well written list.
Way better than I anticipated. Well written and researched. Nice mix of the plausible and the mystic. Great job! Well except maybe #8. The only thing I understood (even after checking out the link) is that maybe the guy was schizophrenic. lol, If anybody actually understands, a simplified explanation would be appreciated.
There's nothing like eschatology on a Friday afternoon. Personally I believe that the End of Days will occur when Listverse finally runs out of list ideas. This is my prophecy.
I've always been curious as to how, if the end of the world were something predictable, like an incoming asteroid, how it would be covered by the news media. Would network anchors remain at their desks and report until the end? "CNN coverage of the end of the world is brought to you by…"
I hope they don't. They should be with their family for the final hours of earth. If anyone was that dedicated to then I guess that would be quite amazing.
People always associate Revelation in the bible with the apocalypse and rightly so, however what people don't know is that the old Testament book of Daniel say's just as much on when the world (as we know it) will end. Especially interesting is Nebuchadnezzar's dream and Daniels interpretation of it.
Well worth a study if you are interested in end times prophecy.
I know I have seen a list like this probably twice before on this site. Just like yesterday's with the cats, I know I have seen that before as well.
Well, I'm going to be extremely happy in 2013…
Great list! I think that we ultimatly destroy ourselves. We are the most self destructive species known to man. We rage war on oursleves. There is a chance that we will all just kill each other. I hope I am not alive to see the day that happens.
My theory is a retarded chimpanzee with half a brain wouldn't believe any of this horse *****.
Don’t you mean that only a retarded chimpanzee with half a brain would believe this *****.
OR maybe
Comparing retarded chimpanzees with half a brain to people who believe this ***** is an insult to retarded chimpanzees with half a brain?
I mean that even said chimp wouldn't be stupid enough for this. But your suggestions work as well
Any? Pandemic, WW3, super volcano eruptions, and solar storms are all legitimate scientific theories. All the others are complete horse*****, however.
"During Armageddon, a colossal battle will occur between the forces of evil (the Antichrist) and the forces of good (Jesus Christ), in which Jesus prevails."
Considering they already know the outcome… isn't it probable that anti and the christ decided just to let the whole thing slide? I mean.. that would be one pointless conflict.
They already spoke about this earlier in the comments and one girl explained this.
Dear Listverse. Your lists have been getting more and more retarded over time. In the beginning, this website was gold. Now, it is akin to the History channel — every other list is about 10 Jesus myths, or whatever superstitious BS. I wish you'd revert to the old ways. :/
Well said. I dont mind the occasional history/religion lists, but I want my pointless yet entertaining lists back.
while I disagree that every list has to do with Jesus, I do hate that half the lists are either conspiracies, insane theories, or spooky ghost stories. COME ON!
you WAY over estimate mans importance
after all – this list is about human paranoia – not what nature will actually do in the end
Where do I get on of these web bots??? I want to know tommorow's lottery numbers.
4, 9, 17, 25, 28, 31. There you go. I'm not telling you which lottery, though.
I can't wait until January 1st 2013 to laugh my ass off at so much BS.
…even more, if the world is gone by then no one will be able to laugh back. HAHAHA!
In 2013, 2012(the movie) would get an award for being the funniest movie ever made.
except for the Yellowstone scene. that could still happen anytime, and according to the list, it's the most likely
do you always laugh 20 days (12/12/2012) after you find something funny?
Not to be vile or anything – but did anybody else get the impression that the priest in the last picture might be masturbating excessively???
You heretic!
Given that there has been research to support the theory that crucified persons were more likely nailed through the heel of the hand rather than through the palm, I’d say the wound location depicted in the photo of alleged stigmatic Padre Pio is rather suspect.
Jamie, has anyone else mentioned any formatting problems with the Blackberry Storm 2? I can't seem to fit your website properly on my phone. The text is either too small or I have to keep scrolling from left to right to read a full line of text. I think it's just this new piece of ***** I got. It has other issues as well.
A lot of people are complaining that this is a repeat list – not so.
True the end of humanity is a common subject on this site in lists and comments – for instance – in Oct. “10 Theories on the Sun Space and 2012” by BrianJ (which I thoroughly trashed – sorry Brian) was along similar lines but under the category of “Science & Nature”. It was pure garbage science.
This list, which I would point out is categorized “miscellaneous” by J.F., is in a completely different vein.
Good job Stephanie, I got it – with a couple exceptions [e.g. replace Web Bot with Bible/Torah code (neo-cabbalism)] – a top notch list – good job.
but the fact that this list confusing people with an almost similar list just proves how stupid it was to include it.
There are millions of things that could be written on, why choose one with close relations to another?
On one hand I'm pretty freaked out about 2012 (nuclear attacks, solar storms and being sucked into a black hole. Good times), although it will probably go the same way as Y2K…
On the other hand, I'm really glad I live nowhere near Yellowstone.
Lol sure, giant volcano eruptions filling the atmosphere with smoke and ash and blocking the suns rays from coming in thus causing the next ice age never hurt anyone.
