Top 10 Bad Male Actors
Published on October 9, 2007 - 177 Comments
After criticizing their looks, it was inevitable that we would get to a talent bashing. For this list I have gone for actors from fairly mainstream movies. Movie lists are often quite controversial on this site, but I get the feeling that this one won’t be. If you do think I have left off one of your favorite bad actors, tell me in the comments.
10. Culkin
Forget the Christian name? Nope - they both suck equally! I am not actually sure what to say about the Culkin Tribe. They are just so bad that nothing really registers in my mind when I think about them (except an odd picture of Michael Jackson).
9. Jean-Claude Van Damme
We have to applaud his abilities with martial arts, but wow - couldn’t they just pay a good actor to learn to fake it? Monsieur Van Damme can’t act worth a … you guessed it … damn!
8. Hugh Grant
One word sums this actor up: insipid. I am simply baffled by his popularity. He is a weak, dull, uninteresting man. You can be sure that if he were out with a lady and got mugged, he would hide behind her.
7. Ben Affleck
Ben Affliction has been on our screens far too many times. Not only is he a bad actor, he manages to be so bad that potentially good films wilt at his feet (Pearl Harbour for example). He is like the reverse of King Midas - everything he touches turns to… erm, well - poo.
6. Steven Seagal
“*grunt* *grmph*.” I don’t want to say too much in case he hits me. In fact, I think that must be the only way he gets roles because he is awful!
5. Orlando Bloom
Orlando Bloom is a man of extremes. He is extremely popular when it comes to looks, and extremely bad when it comes to acting. Having said that - I do feel a little sorry for him - it must have been hard on him to be upstaged by trees in the Lord of the Rings.
4. Paul Walker
This is a tricky one - when he comes on screen he seems like he might be okay - but then he opens his mouth. They must spend millions on his films editing out the drool! How on earth has he ended up in so many films? Good tan though.
3. Hayden Christensen
Darth Vader? Try Dull Vader. Hayden Christensen is the worst thing since mouldy bread. He has not once managed to play a convincing character. He is so bad that during some of his “acting” in the Star Wars movies, I was sick a little bit in my mouth.
2. Tom Cruise
While I am tempted to sum it up in one word (scientology) - I won’t. Cruise started off on a good note (Top Gun) but he just got worse and worse. Perhaps he audited out all of his meagre talent.
1. Keanu Reeves
It was a tough decision picking the right photo for this one - on the one hand I had a photo of paint drying, and on the other hand I had a photo of Keanu. While the paint photo was a lot more interesting, I thought I ought to go with this one. Has he ever been decent in a film? I just cannot think of a single instance of quality acting. Even the one film everyone loves (The Matrix) suited him only because the main character was a wet fish. Sorry Keanu - you suck.
Notable Omissions: John Malkovich, Jeff Goldblum, Arnie, Sly

oh good God, Paul walker is just horrible, his performance in Fast and the Furious (not to mention every one of his movies) was terrible…I need NOS man, big bottles, two of them, lol
and Hayden Christensen, that was the worst darth vader i could of imagined. ive seen incredibly drunk college sorority girls do a better darth vader acting job.
good, but oh so bad, list
2. xdarkhorsex - October 9th, 2007 at 11:57 am
have to agree with you on your number one choice. i recently saw “much ado about nothing” and Keanu is such a lame duck. He really can’t break out of his Bill and Ted role.
3. JT - October 9th, 2007 at 12:16 pm
Woah
woah
woah
I think you are waaay too harsh. Firstly, you’ve probably only seen Macaulay Culkin. His brothers Kieran and Rory were excellent in Igby Goes Down and Mean Creek respectively.
Hugh Grant is a great British rom-com actor - like Colin Firth. He plays the role extremely well.
Steven Segal is a great action guy - nothing more, nothing less. You shouldn’t compare him to different types of actors.
It’s so easy to hate on Tom Cruise because of his eccentric behaviour, but his performance in Magnolia was on the greatest I’ve ever seen. In fact, he’s consistently good in all his films.
And Keanu gets way too much hate. He’s good at what he does.
I think you’re trying to compare each person here to someone like Ian McKellen which is not a good judge of how someone acts. You can’t say McKellen is a bad actor because he sucks at comedy, for example.
4. Bonnie_ - October 9th, 2007 at 12:17 pm
I disagree firmly with your #1 choice. Keanu Reeves inhabits his characters rather than emoting messily all over the place. He acts like a man and therefore you have to search for the glimmers of feeling deep below the surface.
Watch a couple of John Wayne and Humphrey Bogart movies. Those actors, too, refused to let their emotions show on their faces. They’ll kiss you, but they’re not going to weep on you. That’s the way I like my men, thank you very much.
5. JOE ROSSON - October 9th, 2007 at 12:20 pm
You might want to add Stallone to this list. His “I want what everyone else wants”scene at the end of Rambo 2 was just painfull.
6. Sean the pyro - October 9th, 2007 at 12:27 pm
Good list but Jean Claude was good in ONE movie. Desert Heat was actually one of the craziest movies I ever saw. Then again, maybe it’s my love of the movie that makes me like him rather than his performance.
7. Emily - October 9th, 2007 at 12:29 pm
I agree with the whole list (except for maaaybe Orlando Bloom, I haven’t made my mind up yet) but I especially agree with #4 and #1. good list!
8. Anna - October 9th, 2007 at 12:37 pm
Macaulay was good in Party Monster!
9. Ryan - October 9th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
I agree with most on this list, with the exception of number 2 and 1. Keanu Reeves is a bad actor, but does not deserve to be the worst. Tom Cruise should take the place of Keanu; the man is painful to watch.
And sir, you seem to have forgotten Bruce Willis? That man is arguably worse than Tom Cruise!
10. Cyn - October 9th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
bitchy. bitchy. bitchy. excellent selection nonetheless. *grins*
11. RobS - October 9th, 2007 at 1:02 pm
Wow. Brutal. Pretty smack dab on, though.
But I really expected to see William Shattner on the list.
I… needed to see William Shattner on the list.
12. Hannah - October 9th, 2007 at 1:07 pm
WHAT?! No John Malkovich? He’s one of the worst! He acts with this very fake English lilt in his voice (as if it will make him sound like a better actor) and over annunciates all his words to show emotion instead of acting out his emotion. Good list overall though…
13. jfrater - October 9th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
JT: hey - watch it! I saw Iggy Goes Down and Mean Creek - but you have to admit - this is not a family of character actors. I want to see some emotion! In fact, while I do think some of these guys suck seriously as actors - I do love some of their films. And interestingly, I was starting a new list today of the 10 most surprising brilliant performances from not so brilliant actors, and Cruise in Magnolia is on the list in third place. So I did take that in to account!
Bonnie: I don’t agree- the actors you name are great men - but you can see the manly strength in their characters - I don’t find that with Reeves. Oh - and I agree with you on the qualities of a good male actor - I don’t demand that they weep in every scene - I like to see a man being a man in a movie too - it seems so natural that way.
JOE: Stallone and Arnie were both contenders
Sean: I haven’t seen it - I will see if I can find a copy to watch!
Emily: look beyond the looks - he sucks
Anna: I haven’t seen it so I will give you the benefit of the doubt and try to check it out.
Ryan: I am just shocked horrified! Bruce Willis is a brilliant actor - he was sensitive in Sixth Sense, tough in Die Hard, both in Pulp Fiction. I love Bruce Willis!
Cyn: Ever the pacifist
14. lydia - October 9th, 2007 at 1:13 pm
1.Oohh, I like Keanu, I think he is quite good, I am sad that you put him in the list, let alone as the worst actor. In Devils Advocate was very good, and in the Matrix.
2.Now I agree with Hayden Christensen. He even should have been number one. How could the Star Wars team cast him. He singlehandedly ruined the new star wars episodes.(as well as jar jar binx)
3.Daniel Radclif is quite bad as well. Watching Harry Potter is painful.
15. Joe Skepsis - October 9th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
I object to Tom Cruise being on this list, let alone #2.
People think that because he is in a cult, no matter how much you enjoyed his performances before being notified of such, he is now a terrible actor because of his beliefs and/or eccentricity.
I don’t care if Russell Crowe is a jackass, I don’t care if Vanessa Redgrave is anti-zionist, I don’t care if Jane Fonda hopped on a tank danced the good ol’ treason jig.
I don’t have to like them as a person or agree with their beliefs to enjoy their acting, and Tom Cruise is a good enough actor to never deserve being on a list with Keanu Reeves and Steven Seagal.
Though one addition that I would make and leaves a gaping hole in the list because of him having not been mentioned: Ashton Kutcher.
Terrible, terrible actor.
16. jfrater - October 9th, 2007 at 1:52 pm
Hannah. Oh my God - I can’t believe I forgot him. That man is vile! He is truly truly horrible. I own a copy of Dangerous Liaisons - totally ruined by his presence. Ripley’s game was embarassing because of him. He has also ruined perfectly good movies like Of Mice and Men, The Sheltering Sky, and, probably worst of all, The Glass Menagerie.
Joe: I don’t mind Ashton so much, though I can see why so many do.
17. Marco - October 9th, 2007 at 2:21 pm
Hey, hey, Affleck has frequently done an Oscar-worthy rendition of a piece of wood!
(…in action movies that is)
And thanks Hayden for turning one of cinema’s most iconic Bad Guys into a Whining Little B*tch.
18. jongleur - October 9th, 2007 at 2:22 pm
You forgot the one that I would argue is the worst of them all, John Travolta. Every role he plays looks like the last one, all the way back to his role as Vinnie Barbarino with “Welcome Back Kotter”
He’s also a wackjob Scientologist, fits right in there with Tom Cruise.
19. 9000 - October 9th, 2007 at 2:24 pm
OK, I won’t dispute Hayden Christiansen being on this list, because most people have only seen him in the Star Wars prequel travesties. But you should check out ‘Shattered Glass’. He’s pretty good. Fun fact: Tom Cruise produced.
I don’t have a problem with Malkovitch or even Stallone not being on this list. They basically play themselves. One-note actors can be good at playing that one note. If artistic merit was judged solely on diversity and/or virtuosity, then there goes punk rock and the whole modern art movement.
Besides, Stallone was REALLY good in ‘Copland’ and that means a lot coming from me because I despise him.
One thing I can not let pass, tho, is a lack of Schwarzenegger on this list. Shame. SHAME!
Someone mentioned Keanu Reeves in ‘Much Ado About Nothing’… I’m sorry, he makes that whole movie for me. You have great production, top notch actors, and a script by friggin’ Shakespeare. And in the middle of it all, what the hell, let’s throw in Keanu playing Ted Theodore Logan playing Don John. Gutsy.
If you look at his eyes, swear to god, you can actually see him reading his lines off the teleprompter. I have to believe that he would have done a better acting job if he had any idea what his character was actually saying, but he might as well have been reading sanskrit.
20. jfrater - October 9th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
okay - I think these are the best comments we have ever had.
21. 9000 - October 9th, 2007 at 2:46 pm
Jamie, I’m afraid if you don’t add Schwarzenegger as at least an honorable mention I’m going to have to boycott your site.
But wait, you’d probably like that, so…
3 TIMES THE COMMENTS from me until he makes the list! On all subjects, whether I know what I’m talking about or not!
Don’t test me, son. I’m just crazy enough to do it.
22. heavenlymayday - October 9th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
Hmmm.
I don’t agree with all of these, but I do agree with Segal and VanDamme in particular. Wow they are bad. I too was surprised at no Stallone, I’ve yet to like one of his movies.
I think that Cruise is INSANE, but I’ve always liked his movies. I don’t know, maybe it is a case of eye candy cause I also like Orlando…
23. bucslim - October 9th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms, yo.
I’ve got to remind you that if George Lucas can make Harrison Ford and Natalie Portman look stupid, then just about anybody in that role of Aniken Skywalker was going to be bad. I’m not going to nominate Hayden for anything here,(he wasn’t bad in Shattered Glass) but it’s Lucas that writes these idiotic things and insists the actors say the lines.
Harrison Ford even said, “You can write that shit, but it doesn’t mean it’s worth saying.”
24. 9000 - October 9th, 2007 at 3:01 pm
I don’t know if Cruise belongs here either. Born on the Fourth of July?
How about a list of the top 10 celebrity douchebags?
Oh wait, I think you already did a Scientology list.
Oh, and Schwarzenegger! Schwarzenegger Schwarzenegger Schwarzenegger Schwarzenegger!!!!!1!!
25. Yarr - October 9th, 2007 at 3:04 pm
Scientology or no, Cruise is the worst. You can’t give him a pass just because Magnolia was good. Eventually if you try enough times you might get it right once. Top Gun can’t be used as an example of good Cruise acting either, cuz he was just being himself- a cocky jackass.
Keanu Reeves ruined the otherwise enjoyable Dracula. Whoa!
And though I would rather put out my eyes with a spoon than watch Hayden Chritsensen in anything, the whole Darth Vader thing wasn’t his fault. He didn’t write the lines he spit out so ineloquently. That’s Lucas’ fault. He made even normally good actors like Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman look like amateurs. What could you expect from whiny Hayden?
But, Tommy Cruise takes it. He’s the worst actor ever. Even worse than Shatner, dude.
26. Marcy - October 9th, 2007 at 3:14 pm
Paul Walker should be #1 on this list. He’s just painful to watch. Why on earth does he still get work?
27. 9000 - October 9th, 2007 at 3:17 pm
YARR:
Do NOT-
dis -
the Shat.
MISTER TAMBOURINE MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!
(Schwarzenegger)
28. Kip Martin - October 9th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
Let’s not leave out Jeff Goldblum, that guys just awful!!!!!
29. Gr8flDdFn - October 9th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
Ben Affleck should be #1 lol and where is david hasselhoff?
30. Mathilda - October 9th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
Not Orlando Bloom! I think he’s fine as long as he stays in the roles for which he is suited; lots of action and very little dialog. And he’s great at standing, gazing into the distance and looking pretty; he does it so well! You should replace him with Kevin Costner. Every one of his movies is “Kevin Costner playing… Kevin Costner.” And he doesn’t even do that well!
All the rest of the list? Yup, dead on.
31. stugy - October 9th, 2007 at 5:43 pm
I may not agree with what you say, but I will laugh really hard reading it. That list read pretty much how I feel, although I did not think of putting Tom Cruise on the list. Thinking about it though, none of his performances ever blew me away; he was just in a bunch of movies. I might have added one or both of the Wilson brothers. I can’t remember ever enjoying watching them in anything.
32. Jen - October 9th, 2007 at 5:49 pm
Have you seen Macaulay Culkin in “Saved!”? He was actually really good in that.
33. Yarr - October 9th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
9000-
I
Love
Shatner.
He
just
Over
acts!
KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
34. Clovis Sangrail - October 9th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
Keanu’s portrayal of Jonathan Harker in “Dracula” was simply…. moronic…
Switching from English accents and “California surfer airhead dude” accents throughout…
bleargh!
35. trebek - October 9th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
I can’t stand the sight of Tom Cruise anymore but Rain Man was a damn fine performance. I don’t care what anyone says about that. Born on the Fourth of July, he was good in that too
36. Sid - October 9th, 2007 at 6:51 pm
Meh.
I disagree with Grant, Cruise and Reeves. Possibly Seagal too.
37. Ravyn - October 9th, 2007 at 6:53 pm
The only movies Ben Aflek has been any good in where the movies he did for Kevin Smith. But he got the role of a complete idiot so it suited I guess
38. Punjar - October 9th, 2007 at 7:00 pm
The funny thing about Reeves is that he was in Much Ado About Nothing. It’s kind of hard to imagine him as a Shakespearian actor. To be fair though, he played John the bastard, who only had maybe 3 or 4 lines. The movie was pretty good though (I especially like Micheal Keaton as the constable).
Also, Macaulay Culkin is pretty good as a voice actor.
39. tjgrs - October 9th, 2007 at 7:09 pm
Good movies and acting from certain actors you named…
Ben Affleck, very good in Shakespeare in Love and incredibly believable in Good Will Hunting. Did an amazing job in Hollywoodland
Orlando Bloom is a good actor just not the greatest. He was good in Kingdom of Heaven.
Tom Cruise…Top Gun, Jerry McGuire, Vanilla Sky
and I agree Keanu Reeves isnt a great actor but did an amazing job in The Gift
40. Davern - October 9th, 2007 at 8:07 pm
Van Damme was quite good in the film in hell as was Paul Walker in running scared. I can’t say much about the rest of their films however. Also, didn’t Macauly Caulkin win an award for some role were he played a kid confined to a wheelchair? I never saw it. And Tom Cruise is a fine actor.
41. Sean the pyro - October 9th, 2007 at 8:33 pm
Jamie, glad to hear you are looking for Desert Heat. I get the impression that you like weird and quirky movies. This is the funiest thing Jean Claude ever did and definitely a little different. Besides, it has Pat Morita in it too. lol.
42. jfrater - October 9th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
Gr8flDdFn (comment 28): on the floor drunk?
43. Hannah - October 9th, 2007 at 10:35 pm
Jamie- THANK YOU FOR DISLIKING JOHN MALKOVICH. You made me like you that much more! Are we going to see a 10 bad actresses list?
44. jfrater - October 9th, 2007 at 10:38 pm
Hannah: heh. I definitely plan on doing a bad actresses
45. Chris - October 9th, 2007 at 11:56 pm
Affleck just kills me. I really thought he was going to be a good actor after Good Will Hunting. But apparently he wasn’t able to keep his grip on Matt Damon’s coattail.
Cruise, I just don’t know. I can’t stand the guy, personally, and he’s definately not a GOOD actor, but I don’t know that I could agree with being on the list. A lot of it is that his selection of what movies to do is just terrible.
Great job, though. I really can’t begrudge you any of your choices too much. Keep up the good work.
46. Jovan - October 10th, 2007 at 12:18 am
And what about Chuck Norris? He should be firs. Definitely. Or maybe you’re afraid of him?
47. lydia - October 10th, 2007 at 12:40 am
Matt Damon is also quite bad, he and his buddy Ben, are both poor actors. As is Vin Diesel.
48. Gr8flDdFn - October 10th, 2007 at 3:27 am
to jfrater:
lmfao, wearing his old night rider jacket and his bay watch speedos ;o).
49. MojoRisin - October 10th, 2007 at 7:14 am
Wow this is a really good list. It doesn’t just target the obviously bad actors, but also the ones that pretend to be good. What about Michael Douglas though? He seems to just not care in any movie.
50. TMo - October 10th, 2007 at 8:43 am
The Culkins are good, just cracked-out. Saved, Igby Goes Down, Secret Lives of Altar Boys, to name a few note-worthy performances (oh, and Home Alone 1&2).
I effing hate Hugh Grant. Everytime I see his face or hear his voice it makes me want to pull out his teeth and put them in his eyes. I mean, seriously, he’s up there with John Basedow (not an actor) in terms of regurgitation instigation.
Chuck Norris should definitely not be on this list. This list should be on HIM.
And saying Seagal and Van Damm are bad actors is like saying Bruce Campbell is a bad actor (blasphemy). They just do bad movies on purpose (i hope?) cuz they’re funny.
Also, I don’t see what’s wrong with Goldblum and Malkovich. If they’re on the list, than so should Woody Allen (except Sleepers).
What about Larry the Cable Guy? I mean, I’ve never seen his work, but the trailers are bad enough to warrant a spot on the list.
51. RobS - October 10th, 2007 at 9:04 am
Yar,
Saying that Shatner overacts is sort of like saying that the eruption of Mt. St. Helens’ was “kinda loud”. It’s tantamount to saying the Chicxulub event “kinda messed up the ecology a bit”.
52. Justin Mosley - October 10th, 2007 at 10:03 am
I agree with most of this list. However, there are a few exceptions. Paul Walker was horrible in Fast and the Furious… but, have you ever seen the movie Running Scared? I thought his acting was brilliant!
53. MrSelfdestruct - October 10th, 2007 at 11:09 am
What, no Vin Deisel??
Nothing beats his comment at the climax of Triple X:
Welcome to the danger zone.
54. wowzer - October 10th, 2007 at 11:50 am
C’mon… I know the guy’s dead, but Tor Johnson was such a bad actor his legacy of horridness should be recognized by this list. Now, I don’t know how you feel about him, but Tor undeniably had moments that made the original “Night of the Living Dead” zombies seem like legions of Leonidis’ from “300.” He could give ol’ Keanu a run for his money, I’m willing to bet. Or at least make Keanu’s title a little less uncontested. Let’s not forget Tor’s most famous line, from “Plan 9 from Outer Space”: “Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurhhhhhhh.”
55. Hannah - October 10th, 2007 at 12:12 pm
I nominate Julia Roberts and Julia Stiles for the bad actress list. Julia Stiles is almost the female version of John Malkovich for me. Very flat delivery and usually dead emotion. And Julia Roberts always plays (wait for it…) JULIA ROBERTS!! In every single movie she does her “horse laugh” where she throws her head back and shows her teeth. I think it’s a trade mark.
56. steve - October 10th, 2007 at 12:15 pm
I don’t think that Bloom is a particularly bad actor, i can think of others that are worse, like the ones on your list.
Kenau, is not bad, he just got typecast i think.
Personally, i think Shatner should be here, he plays every role the same, even his Priceline commercials. Don’t get me wrong, i love Star Trek, but, he’s not the best actor…
57. soonerproud - October 10th, 2007 at 12:20 pm
Shatner is actually a good actor when it comes to roles that require a classical trained actor. He used overacting in Star Trek to add to the cheesiness of the series. Hell, he even makes fun of his own acting in his role as James T Kirk. He should have just stuck with Broadway if he wanted to be taken seriously as an actor.
jfrater:
When you do a bad actresses list, make certain J-Lo is on that list. I can only think of one role she was even good in (Selena) and we have been tortured by her ever since.
58. steve - October 10th, 2007 at 12:59 pm
The thing about Shatner is that in every movie I have ever seen him in, he acts the same way, that’s what i see anyway, but i am in no way a great judge of acting, so i’m probably wrong i guess.
and yes, Jenifer Lopez should be on the actresses list.
59. soonerproud - October 10th, 2007 at 1:02 pm
steve:
You are correct that Shatner has no business in film or television acting. (Comedy would be a good exception as Shatner is actually a great comedic actor.) On stage, he actually gets a lot of rave reviews. Some stage actors just do not do well on film.
60. god_in_a_cup - October 10th, 2007 at 1:11 pm
has anyone seen the good son?
it had culkin in it and i thought it was really good.
but i was a bit younger so my memory may have failed me.
61. Yarr - October 10th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
See, I like Shatner. He’s just not a very good actor. But, unlike Cruise or Reeves or Affleck, The Shat is LIKEABLE when he’s overacting. He does bring some measure of fun to his roles, and he seems like he’s having fun camping them up.
The problem with all of the people on this list is that THEY think they’re good, and noone called to tell them otherwise.
Shatner knows, and he plays it to his advantage. This makes him cool in spite of it all.
AND the only reason I used Shatner as an example in my original comment about Cruise is because Shatner always shows up on lists of bad actors and Cruise constantly has his knob polished by Hollywood even though he sucks far, far worse.
It’s just not fair!
62. Yarr - October 10th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
And Hannah is right.
Julia Roberts is just f#@*ing awful.
63. B.S. - October 10th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
I’m also baffled by Hugh Grant’s appeal. I avoid his movies based entirely on the fact that he’s in them.
Has anyone mentioned Patrick Swayze? Just typing his name makes me snicker. *blech*
I thought about disagreeing with Keanu in at number one, but I changed my mind. While I don’t agree that he’s the worst ever, he deserves to be high on the list because he’s had a 20-year career and been in so darn many movies - serious ones, with serious roles. He’s a passable soap opera actor at best, yet he keeps getting hired. Same with Tom. Weird.
Good list.
64. 9000 - October 10th, 2007 at 5:45 pm
Most awesome Shat movie EVAR:
Free Enterprise
65. Diogenes - October 10th, 2007 at 6:06 pm
good looks, muscles or physically unchallenged, cute as a child.
i dont even know who paul walker is. what movies?
66. ben - October 10th, 2007 at 9:31 pm
I dont know about goldblum on honorable mention, but then thats just probably cause i like his personality not his acting
67. slipstick - October 10th, 2007 at 10:39 pm
What? Nobody thinks that Pauly Shore should be on the list? The only thing that he can do is the “stoner surfer dude.”
68. Hannah - October 10th, 2007 at 11:01 pm
I don’t think Pauly Shore made the list because he has sort of disappeared from movies. All of the other guys on the list still continue to get work, much to our chagrin.
69. jfrater - October 11th, 2007 at 1:26 am
Diogenes: The Skulls, the Fast and the Furious, Pleasantville, Flags of our Fathers…
70. reid1201 - October 11th, 2007 at 4:03 am
Not only is Keanu Reeves a bad actor, he’s the Black Hole of Talent. He has the ability to suck the talent out of people around him. Actors who normally give decent performances suck when they are on screen with Reeves. Case in point: Much Ado About Miscasting.
71. Barb - October 11th, 2007 at 4:25 am
Keanu Reeves, like, totally, like, whoa, like sucks dude. I think that may be a quote from Dangerous Liaisons. John Malkovich was great in that. Nicolas Cage is fairly ordinary as well.
72. the queen of lists - October 11th, 2007 at 6:18 am
what about chris o’donnell? i’ve recently caught him in a few movies on cable and cringed because i forgot how completely melodramatic he was.
also, i like cary elwes, but his performance in saw was just…painful to watch.

Mathilda - October 9th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
“Kevin Costner. Every one of his movies is “Kevin Costner playing… Kevin Costner.” And he doesn’t even do that well!”
I came in here to say that. Worst actor ever!!! A plank of wood could play every role he’s done, and do it better!!!
74. cheryl - October 11th, 2007 at 9:33 am
I disagree with this guy, he is so diverse in any genre he is given You have commented on his acting in Much Ado, I thought that was better than most in that film, Keanu has had Shakespear roles previously (Hamlet in Winnipeg Canada)
You don;t see people like Stallone, being so diverse in his acting. keanu has done genres of action, thriller, romance, drama and even controversiable roles as in The Gift and The Watchman. You have seemed to label him from his Ted days but come on that is 18 years ago. He has changed alot since then and you do not give him a chance. After all he has done over 48 films now
Orlando Bloom is good within the Pirates trilogy and he still has a way to go as in Hollywood terms for a trademark career.
75. Yarr - October 11th, 2007 at 11:02 am
Cheryl:
It’s easy to label him from his Ted days. Ted’s catchphrase was,”Whoa!”
His only believable character after Ted was Johnny Utah in Point Break: “I’m a surfer. Whoa!”
After that:
Dracula: “Whoa! That dude’s like, totally vamped out and trying to steal my babe!”
Matrix: “Whoa! I know Kung Fu!”
Constantine: “Whoa! These demons are like, bogus.”
Private Idaho: “Whoa! River Phoenix is like, so much better at acting than me.”
20 years and I guess he never went to a voice coach to make sure it didn’t seem like the next word out of his mouth was going to be “tubular”.
76. jfrater - October 11th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
Yarr: Don’t hold back!
77. Ivy - October 11th, 2007 at 6:27 pm
You left out Kevin Costner.
78. ben - October 11th, 2007 at 8:28 pm
i just got a great idea for an addition to the worst females list-jennifer love hewitt. ever seen ghost whisperer?
79. WatAbout - October 11th, 2007 at 10:15 pm
No one on the list is wrong, but I think this is one of those where you’re gonna have to update and make it a 20. First off, Vin Diesel is the single worst actor I have ever laid eyes upon. I remember kids in my third grade Thanksgiving play doing a better job. Secondly, Rosie O’Donnell has earned a spot on this list. And on the extended list we need to see Daniel Radcliffe (manages to make the list with only one movie (or four depending on how you look at it (but he’s terrible either way so it doesnt matter))), Ice Cube (hah), Chuck Norris, Nick Cage, and Dane Cook. Let’s face it, Hollywood has seen better days.
80. cari - October 12th, 2007 at 6:47 am
You’re the one that sucks! I’ll agree w/ Culkin, Van Damme and Segal…but the rest I like…w/ the exception of Hayden because I’ve never seen him in anything…who the hell is he?? Anyway, Keanu, Hugh, Tom (one of the BEST actors out there!!!), Orlando, and Ben are all good actors in my opinion…and I can’t elieve you mentioned Malkovich as a side bar, so to speak…He f’n ROCKS. I absolutely love all of his movies…he’s so develish. Not very attractive, but his demeanor and disposition make up for that…he’s sexy, goddammit! I am so sick of people bashing on Tom…who cares what his religious beliefs are…to each his own. Magnolia, Eyes Wide Shut, Last Samurai…he is a classic. In conclusion, I’d like to see you act…I bet you REALLY SUCK!
81. jfrater - October 12th, 2007 at 7:04 am
cari: Acting is not my career - for these men, it is. You can’t compare my acting to them because I am simply not an actor. Anyway, I think you will find my next movie list a lot more to your liking - it is going to be a list of iconic movies for teenagers
Thanks for the comment!
82. Sean the pyro - October 12th, 2007 at 7:37 am
Wasn’t Walker in that show “The Pretender” as well?
83. Yarr - October 12th, 2007 at 7:55 am
Imagine The Last Samurai with Brad Pitt…
Or, though he’s a little young, Christian Bale.
That movie would have been THE SHIT instead of just pretty good…
I hate Tom Cruise.
Go home, you bad acting weirdo!
;0)
84. Shemer - October 12th, 2007 at 7:16 pm
Hello?!?! Where’s Vin Diesel on the list? Maybe he is so bad he doesn’t even deserve the title. Hes not a bad actor… He’s just bad.
85. Nartjai - October 12th, 2007 at 7:52 pm
Thank you so very much for including Steven Seagal… I just can’t stand that guy… Oh and if you’re interested, check out a few little flash videos of him from the Toilet Boys http://www.atomfilms.com/film/seagal_scattered.jsp
They are just awesome.
86. jfrater - October 14th, 2007 at 1:14 pm
Hannah: check out comment 43 and 48 on this list: http://listverse.com/bizarre/t.....st-movies/ - I don’t even remember the discussion but I was just looking over old comments and found it - how hilarious that we have been here before
87. kathy - October 14th, 2007 at 3:54 pm
i think i’d have to agree with every single one of the actors on this list. but by far i think steven seagal should’ve been number one, good god does he suck major testicles.
88. Randall - October 15th, 2007 at 9:25 am
Keanu Reeves MOST DEFINITELY deserves to be number one on this list, and his only serious competition is Tom Cruise. People on this site defending Reeves must be on some serious crack—someone here even compared him to BOGART. Ridiculous—Reeves has ruined several movies that had a decent chance at being good, and seems utterly incapable of registering emotion or of making us believe for a moment that he is anything but a vapid pretty boy. I cringed when I heard, recently, that Reeves is set to star in the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still…. what an unbelievable travesty, if true. It sickens me. Ironically, if you check out the director’s commentary on the DVD of the original DTESS, Robert Wise gives us a perfect summation of what defines a bad actor. Wise is referring to Hugh Marlowe, who is utterly wooden in the film as Patricia Neal’s love interest (Wise didn’t choose Marlowe for the role, he was assigned it by the studio). Wise says something along the lines of, (I’m paraphrasing here) “check Marlowe’s eyes. They do nothing. There’s nothing there, nothing for another actor to play off of.” He goes on to make it clear that this is a reliable sign for judging a bad actor. Now check out Keanu Reeves eyes in ANY film he’s been in. Check out his eyes in the above photograph. They’re vapid, empty. Almost semi-retarded. Tom Cruise is perpetually smarmy and full of disgusting self-love. But Keanu Reeves is an arid desert of human emotion. There’s just nothing there.
89. simon - October 16th, 2007 at 4:58 am
hugh grant is a pretty good actor and is very good in Polanski’s Bitter Moon.
Tom Cruise is great in Magnolia, Jerry Maguire and the Color of Money. In fact I don’t think I’ve seen a bad Cruise performance. But then you rarely see a great 1 either.
90. jfrater - October 16th, 2007 at 5:10 am
simon: I agree that cruise was good in Magnolia - but that is about the only good acting I have seen come from him.
91. AndyB123 - October 20th, 2007 at 7:22 am
I watched Eyes Wide Shut, and both Cruise and Kidman were awful in it. Kidman was plain embarassing. I’m sure I’ll get some flak for this, but I think Harrison Ford should be on the list. He either grins, or looks confused. When he wants to express strong emotions, he talks with a loud, trembling voice. And that’s it. That’s his range.
Daniel Radcliffe can’t act - but he makes a great book-cover.
92. jfrater - October 20th, 2007 at 7:31 am
AndyB123: I hadn’t really thought of Harrison Ford - but I think I tend to agree with you. He is a bit dull.
93. legosuperman - October 26th, 2007 at 12:33 am
I can’t believe I am going to defend Paul Walker in any capacity but I loved the hell out of “Running Scared”. It was a very brutal “Alice in Wonderland” trip of a boy experiencing some of the horrors of adulthood and Walker did a pretty bang up job with his character. I was shocked seeing as I reamed the guy for F&F and cheered when I heard he passed on Superman… btw any chance of a Top ten comic book movie list?
94. legosuperman - October 26th, 2007 at 12:35 am
I can’t agree with Ford being on the list. The guy has ample charasima and two of the most legendary film roles under his belt (Indiana Jones and Han Solo anyone?). That being said, if Indy 4 sucks as hard as Firewall did, he might be dead to me….
95. jfrater - October 26th, 2007 at 12:44 am
legosuperman: you should be ashamed of yourself defending Paul Walker!
I have noted your request for a great comic book movies list - I think it is is an excellent idea. thanks
96. Bananas - November 3rd, 2007 at 6:07 am
ORLANDO BLOOM! He is one of the greatest actors eva! His looks dont hurt either.
97. Ryan - November 3rd, 2007 at 6:27 am
Bananas: Dear god, I saw this comment from the recent comments list. This is poor. Orlando Bloom and good should NEVER, EVER go together. He is absolutely awful. See Ned Kelly, Pirates of the Caribbean, Elizabethtown, Black Hawk Down and probably anything else he’s in. I can’t remember off the top of my head, but he has been craptacular in everything I’ve seen him in.
98. MQ - November 7th, 2007 at 12:44 pm
hayden christensen was actually pretty good in Shattered Glass.
But he was a horrible darth vader.
Heath Ledger would’ve made an EXCELLENT anakin skywalker
99. Zoso - November 11th, 2007 at 1:27 pm
I agree with them all except two, Afflek and Cruise (and maybe reeves)
Of course, I think Tom Cruise is one of the biggest douche bags to ever have been given a script. He’s a short, maniacal and downright strange man off the screen, but on the screen he is truly a Titan among mere Gods. The worst performance he’s done in years (havn’t seen the Redford flick) was in a tiny scene out of a great movie, Mission Impossible III, when he’s about to watch his wife get popped.
“Please, no, you have to do the right thing, bla bla bla” Otherwise his career is virtually spotless. Collateral, Magnolia, Minority Report, A Few good Men, Born /4thJuly, Rain Man, Top Gun and probably my favorite, “Taps” His death was one of the coolest of any on-screen.
Ben Afflek? Jesus you’re a conformist moron. Albeit, his recent bombs have been atomic, but he’s got the talent, just needs better suited roles. Boiler Room, Dogma, Dazed/Confused, and who can forget Good Will Hunting.
*Edit on who should be on the list
James Franco
Q. Tarantino
100. Xay Xay - November 12th, 2007 at 8:03 am
This is just personal. More than three you could make an argument for.
101. roscoefrye - November 15th, 2007 at 11:34 am
How could this list not include Tobey Maguire and the worst actor ever Nicholas Cage
102. dofnup - November 20th, 2007 at 11:02 am
Oh god, Ben Affleck! If they got a semi-literate mental patient off the street and got him to just READ Benm’s lines, it would sound more realistic! Seriously!!
And I definitely must agree with roscoefrye re: Nick Cage. He plays the exact same character in every movie!! Argghhh!!
103. Dandelion - November 25th, 2007 at 5:27 am
I get the other ones, but Keanu Reeves? I know he has been in some pretty crappy films, but at least My Own Private Idaho was good. He was great in that movie!
104. jfrater - November 25th, 2007 at 5:45 am
Dandelion: he was good in Idaho - I agree - but the rest of his career has been far from sparkling
105. Dandelion - November 25th, 2007 at 5:50 am
jfrater: good that you agreed with Idaho ^^
106. Brandon - November 25th, 2007 at 8:47 pm
I agree with pretty much all of it, but Keanu has been in good movies ( a scanner darkly) predominately
107. rp - November 25th, 2007 at 9:00 pm
Those claiming that Vin Diesel belongs on this list should watch “Find Me Guilty” before judging him too harshly.
108. CrimsonChrissi - November 26th, 2007 at 4:46 pm
Two scary words - Pauly Shore!!
109. loz - November 27th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
How did Hayden Christensen even get the part in Star Wars???
Good list agree with them all
110. Green Is Good - November 30th, 2007 at 3:20 pm
I’m not a fan of Keanu Reeves, but he was good in “The Gift”, starring Cate Blanchett. He plays a dangerous red neck psycho. Check it out. It’s quite a suspenseful film!

111. suzi - December 1st, 2007 at 1:09 am
Fun list, great discussion.
I personaly love Grant’s performances. They do vary, though, depending on the quality of the writing, but that’s pretty much true for any movie.
It’s too soon to see if Christenson is really that bad, I agree, the SW sequels made everybody look bad.
LOVE Shatner!! His delivery shows he is in on the joke, and I enjoy everything he is in.
Bloom’s not that bad, trade him out for Costner.
And when you make the actress list, put J lo FIRST.
112. Mariannito - December 2nd, 2007 at 6:06 pm
Hugh Grant is a great British actor. You might think twice before you judge that harsh…
As a teenager I used to be in love with him
113. Alexandra - December 3rd, 2007 at 12:10 am
I completly agree with Marco about Hayden turning Darth Vader into a whiny little b*tch, but like a few other people have said, he did do a good job in ‘Shattered Glass’ (playing a whiny little b*tch….)
Culkin actually scares me. If I saw him down the street I would hide.
I am wondering why Stallone isn’t in here, but I suppose there are too many bad actors around to be able to make a list of only ten.
Another great list, well done.
114. Sarah - December 3rd, 2007 at 2:56 pm

Well i think mosty of your list is rubbish i like a few of the actors on there i think its funny how you talk so bad about some of them they make millions making movies so thay cant be that bad how much do you make
118. Caycee - December 5th, 2007 at 8:19 pm
I think you need to come up with the top 10 worst female actors. Don’t forget Jane Fonda and Tea Leoni.
119. jfrater - December 6th, 2007 at 1:39 am
BrianJ: how much I make has no relevance to the quality of the acting of the people above does it? I bet I make more money writing lists than you - does that mean your comment is rubbish?
They make money because people pay to see their films - I am sure it is not for their acting abilities.
Caycee: excellent contributions - Tea Leoni is just awful.
120. drew - December 6th, 2007 at 8:26 pm
This list is a joke since it does not include the worst actor of all time, Nicholas Cage.
Do you doubt it? Watch Wicker Man
121. Jackanapes - December 8th, 2007 at 2:28 am
Obviously the list is subjective but I must disagree in some respects with your classification of Tom Cruise and Hugh Grant.
Firstly, it’s a fair argument to say Hugh Grant can’t act because he seems to always pretty much play himself (of which I enjoy). But to say he is a “weak, dull, uninteresting man” means there is either an unjust prejudice or an inability to see quality humor. He’s a funny guy expressing a sardonic and cynical humor. Fair enough one might not appreciate this humor but to say he’s dull is grossly incorrect.
Whereas Tom Cruise, just because he’s not a ‘character actor’ playing the requisite mentally deranged man doesn’t mean he can’t act. He presents his characters with charisma and energy. Rather than jump on the bandwagon with everyone else, can’t anyone see (despite him being affiliated with the weirdo world of Scientology) that he isn’t that bad?
There are far worse actors than them.
122. Sakyamuni - December 8th, 2007 at 3:59 pm
Arnold Schwarzenegger is missing?!?
Or it could be that he doesen’t fitt in the list at all.
You said “actors”.
123. Miruna - December 9th, 2007 at 6:59 am
john malkovich notable ommission??? you’ve GOT to be kidding
and and, stallone and schwarzenegger are NOT in the same category. come on, keanu must have acted in SOME movie better than rambo or the terminator
124. GRUMPYNZ - December 9th, 2007 at 3:21 pm
You’re way off the mark on a few choices here. Peal Harbour was not a potentially good movie, and Ben Afflek is actually a pretty decent actor - check out Hollywoodland, and apparently he’s a pretty good director too.
And Tom Cruise is actually a REALLY good actor.
You may not like either of these two guys, but to accuse them of being bad actors is infantile.
125. Anjuli - December 9th, 2007 at 6:27 pm
umm does anybody really care if Paul Walker can act or not? he is the hottest man alive, I don’t even care if he’s capable of speech at all
126. Etrain - December 10th, 2007 at 9:14 pm
I just saw Hayden Christensen in Awake, the new one with Jessica Alba..and he was VERY good in that movie. That movie was awesome and his acting was very convincing.
127. Azmerelda - December 12th, 2007 at 10:51 am
All that i have say is Leonardo Di Capro should of been on there
128. LinkiDink - December 17th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
Thank you! I was so glad to see Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves in the top two slots. I cannot stand to watch movies that star these guys. Although I can enjoy movies like Top Gun and Risky Business, the only case of Tom pulling good acting out of his ass (as far as I’m concerned) is Interview With the Vampire. But then, that may be because he’s a totally creepy queer and just fell naturally into the roll. I mean, seriously, War of the Worlds… The planet is under attack, but apparently he just can’t seem to muster up any enthusiasm. I have been told that he was good in The Last Samurai, but I haven’t seen it–Tom Cruise scared me away from it.
Keanu is only good for filling the roll of the total moron, such as the Bill and Ted movies and Parenthood. The moment when I realized he was the worst actor ever was when I watched Bram Stoker’s Dracula. This movie was an abomination anyway. I think old Bram rolls over in his grave every time anyone watches this crap-a-thon that never should have dared use his name. That aside, even if it had been good, Keanu would have ruined it with his attempt at an English dialect, which he (or perhaps everyone working with him) decided was best abandoned a few scenes into the crap-a-thon.
Also, I’m not sure if Van Damme knows any martial arts at all. He’s actually a ballet dancer. It’s just a lot of jumping with an extended leg. Any trained dancer could do that.
And yes, Macauley is a bad actor. He deserves to be on this list. His acting abilities have not progressed since Uncle Buck. His sister’s go at acting in The Good Son also proved tragic. But his brothers are much better. They may not be the best in the business, but the family’s idea to put all the faith in Mac as an actor was a total misnomer.
I hate Ben Affleck. He’s the same in every movie - an absolute douche.
Thanks for reading my tangent. I joined the site just to comment on this particular list.
129. Worthy - December 21st, 2007 at 7:10 pm
your a F***ing idiot if you think Tom Cruise, Paul Walker, and Orlando Bloom are BAD! AND I KNOW MACAULAY CULKIN is weird now but when he was lil he was purdy good
130. Amai - December 22nd, 2007 at 7:52 am
I applaud the boldness of the list, but you picked a few too many high profile people. Watch more B movies (and then some lower on the scale) and it might change your opinion of those listed. A little. As far as Tom Cruise, you can’t really hold his religion against his acting. Him as a person, sure. But not his movies. That’s not critia for whether he’s a good or horrible actor.
131. Hillary - December 24th, 2007 at 8:01 pm
I dont think Paul Walker is bad actor at all
like this character “Evan” says in the fast and the furious “I need NOS man, big bottles, two of them”
what else do you expect?
I need two bottles of NOS please? Oh, and a cup of tea too…. WTF are you supposed to say?
132. AaronSheffield - December 27th, 2007 at 12:04 pm
Just a comment here.
Keanu did one good movie. A long long time ago, in his first movie ever, Mr. Reeves was in a movie called ” Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”. Yes, it was pure accident that Keanu’s totally vacant acting style and brain dead delivery happened to fit the part, he nevertheless did indeed perform quite well in that movie.
Tom “**** Me” Cruise ( as a former female friend, of the non-sexual variety used to call him) should have taken the #1 spot on this list. He may have some looks, but he couldn’t act his way out of a wet paper bag if you handed him a exacto knife, and ripped out all of the seams to boot.
133. jfried620 - December 29th, 2007 at 12:12 pm
I don’t know if it’s been mentioned already, but if anyone has seen the hit movie ‘Awake’, Hayden was actually quite good in that so maybe that gives him a couple more points? However I agree Star Wars fell faster with him than the Holy Roman Empire did with Nero. Terrible, terrible. But watch Awake; it is a good movie.
134. jfried620 - December 29th, 2007 at 12:14 pm
One more comment- Jason Statham could very well have made this list: He was horrendous in both Transporters and pretty bad in ‘War’ as well; he does decent action scenes, but his acting is insulting
135. Lizbeth Juan - December 31st, 2007 at 6:23 am
woah
woah
woah
what kind of bull sh*t list is this??? Steven Segal great action guy… Orlando Bloom don’t even start there he is an awesome actor and he does know what hes doing… How the hell is tom cruise on your list??? he’s really good… I’m not going 2 be harsh on actor because they know what they are doing and thats just wrong… plus if they were really that bad they wouldn’t have even made it in to the show biz…
My comments- horrible list…
136. sue - January 4th, 2008 at 8:26 am
u definately forgot stallone and vin diesel
137. Jackanapes - January 4th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
This list is BULLSHIT! That sums it up. It should be scrapped and redone.
138. Dr. Smooth - January 9th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
I’ve always hated Steven Seagal, he should have been number 1. However, I agree with Keanu Reeves completely, in every role he plays I see him as Ted Theodore Logan (from Bill & Ted) he’s just hungover in the serious roles.
Orlando Bloom has his moments, I wouldn’t include him in this list.
Tom Cruise used to be great, he’s basically a washed up actor these days but he shouldn’t be on this list either.
Nicholas Cage should be on this list. I thought he was awesome in Leaving Las Vegas but he plays the same role everytime. He’s got the same dumb look on his face, he can’t do accents, and when he actually starts sounding convincing he looks retarded or he’s gotta scream. I also hate how it looks like he’s having epileptic fits.
139. MeadOldMan - January 12th, 2008 at 3:50 am
OK, now it’s MY 2 cents worth time:
1st: To all dissing out Uncle Chuck (I have the same last name), please prepare for the obligatory roundhouse kick to the face. He also has a comedic side, although I’ve only seen it once (Firewalker, with Lou Gossett).
2nd: OK, I’ll go along with Canoe Reeves being shallow, one-dimensional, etc. However, he has had some interesting roles in that genre. For instance, “Parenthood”, helping out his girlfriend’s mother figure out her son. Then coming out of his Zen-like trance with a shake and reverting back to Neanderthal.
3rd: I disagree with Tom Cruise as No. 1. He’s so bad, he should be at least the top 3! I’ve hated him since before Top Gun. I agree with someone earlier who said he always plays a cocky little arrogant SOB. But mainly it’s because he makes movies that only make big because of gimmicks or better actors. For instance:
a) Risky Business - hookers and high-school pranks. If Rebecca DeMornay didn’t get naked in that movie, I don’t think ANYONE would have watched it.
b) The Color of Money - Paul Newman. ‘Nuff said.
c) Top Gun - Anybody looks good with a Tomcat strapped to their back. And Anthony Edwards played his character better.
d) Jerry McGuire - Cuba Gooding is WAY better.
e) Rain Man - Dustin Hoffman. Also ’nuff said.
f) Cocktail - Flashy bartending, only drew the barflies. Oh, and people wanting to see Elizabeth Shue naked (I did).
g) Days of Thunder - Racing and the redneck element.
I could go on and on, but my last reason to hate, to absolutely loathe, revile, and repudiate him, is Nicole Kidman. How retarded, or gay, or both, do you have to be to let a woman that incredible get away from you?!?!? I know, I know, this has nothing to do with his acting skills, or lack thereof. Or does it? Maybe his greatest act was never recognized: A man who loves a woman enough to marry her! Katie, look out…
140. Jeffro - January 13th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
I could not agree more, especially with respect to Orlando Bloom. This list is awesome.
One exception, John Malkovich as a notable. Try as I might, I think its quite the opposite, actually.
141. Lady_Luzhin - January 14th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Orlando sucks. I think Kane Hodder should be on here. He sucked in the not-even-close-to-a-bio-pic of Ed Gein.
142. Danihel - January 15th, 2008 at 5:18 am
What about Nicholas Cage? Being Coppola’s nephew that’s the closes he came to movie business. He has the same acting in all his movies: the misunderstood & confused man. He surely would deserve a place right there with Keeanu Reeves. He’s even worse than Orlando Bloom. I’m surprised he was there!

Wow tom cruise is only #2? I expected #1 for him…War of the Worlds would have been alot better with ANYone else…
146. Jessie - January 18th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
I don’t believe you guys. Tom Cruise was awesome in War of the World’s and A Few Good Men… Also you might be right that it was just how his character was supposed to be, but Keanu was PERFECT in The Matrix and also pretty sweet in Constantine… Paul Walker is the worst actor in the world hands down, followed closely by Vin Diesel. Ben Afleck was good in The Paycheck and WHOEVER said that Matt Damon is a bad actor is smoking crack cocaine… The Bourne _____ movies were fucking awesome. As well as his KICK ass performance in The Departed… Most of these actors shouldn’t be on here… And oh yeah. I’m not a die hard Star Wars fan so I don’t know how he lived up to expectations, but Hayden didn’t play Darth Vadar he played Anikan (sp*) Skywalker. And his performance was absolutely AMAZING. I felt like coming to tears when he was killing Padame`. He played the whole confused torn between love and hate super well.

Excuse me, but I don’t know how girls, straight women, can consider Orlando Bloom sexy. He looks like my friend Debbie. I’m sorry, but seriously, he looks like Debbie (a girl) with a little tiny shot of testosterone.
149. eh - February 2nd, 2008 at 11:43 am
tom cruise- used 2 b a good actor now he’s a bad actor who is crazy. poor Katie, i think he’s holding her hostage and threatening the baby if she tries 2 escape
hugh grant- he’s good for what he does, formulaic romantic comedys. i loved him in Love Actually, but he’d suck with other roles
150. stormy617 - February 4th, 2008 at 1:05 am
Orlando Bloom does not look like a girl. He is in fact very hot. I was thinking that very thing as I was looking at this list. He is the only really hot one up there in fact.
I did like Macauley in Home alone, but then he grew up

ok- im sorry to disagree wit the hayden christensen haters but fuck it, im going to anyway!
you all didnt like him in starwars because you could not relate to him as darth vador! you have to remember that he wasnt playing darth vador, he was playing aniken skywalker…a boy with alot of loss and misery in his life! a confussed child! thats the role he was playing. you need to seperate the two! he played two roles in the movie and i think he played them extreamly well, next time you watch the movie’s seperate his roles!

155. TheDane - February 10th, 2008 at 8:59 am
Great list once again - Although Nicolas Cage deserves to be on it.
156. fishing4monkeys - February 12th, 2008 at 8:29 am
TheDane: Yeah! I wonder why he’s not on this list?
157. Ryan - February 20th, 2008 at 6:45 pm

I will say one role for Hayden Christensen that he did pull of well was Stephen Glass in Shattered Glass. That same whiney act that ruined his Anakin worked perfect as Glass. I watched the movie assuming I’d hate him in it and was suprised at how well he pulled off this whiney, manipulative character. Decent movie for those who haven’t seen it
160. Jason - March 12th, 2008 at 6:45 am
I believe that Tom Cruise is a good actor and doesn’t belong on this list.Where is Arnold??
161. rockprincess - March 12th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
oh i cannot agree with orlando bloom being in here… of course, i am completely biased due to the fact that he’s *sigh* like SO TOTALLY CUTE!!! (yes, my 10th grade self is revealing its suppressed lingo), but i do happen to think he is a great actor. maybe okay. to be honest, i haven’t ever really paid attention, he’s just so fucking gorgeous.
this is one of the greatest websites i have ever stumbled upon. it satisfies my need to know some freaky shit (top 10 haunted places, abandoned places, disapperances, etc) as well as some eccentric things like movie lists and 80s songs.
my hats off to you guys. i have nutrition and history to study and work to do, and i have been thorougly distracted for 3 days going through this site. this is my new graceland. fuck myspace, i’m officially addicted…
162. rockprincess - March 12th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
oh yeah, and tom cruise blows hardcore
163. Anton South-Africa - March 13th, 2008 at 10:05 am
You should have put Steven Seagal first, the man’s a idiot and everybody that likes him is one as well??
164. Jason Clarke - March 13th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
Steven Segal was really bad for real…lol
165. Festos - March 22nd, 2008 at 5:40 am
Tom Cruise: doesn’t belong on this list, as stated before he’s been excellent in several of his movies, most of them early work but still.
He just happen to be a complete jackass off the screen.
Culkin doesn’t even qualify for the list, he hasn’t starred in any movie anyone wants to see so he’s not able to ruin anything important.
Ben Affleck on the other hand is the Great Entertainment Annihilator.
He has to be eradicated from the face of the planet.
Steven Seagal and JCVD’s movies doesn’t have anything to do about acting and due to that they should not qualify either.
The very mentioning on some comments about the lack of Stallone on a top 10 bad actors list is blasphemy. Excellent in Cop Land, Rocky, Rambo : First Blood and the latest Rambo.
Hugh Grant, though not a very varied actor is great at what h e does, but I might agree with a top 10 placing.
Orlando Bloom is utter crap. He was ok in LOTR but everything since that has been shite.
Paul Walker - right on the money. I don’t think he knows what he’s doing.
Keanu is difficult, in one way he’s utterly terrible but then he shines in his performances in Bill and Ted and honestly now who would’ve have a better Neo??
Ben Affleck - DESTROY HIM!!
Hayden Christensen - Has transformed DV into a pussy.
Paul Walker - Needs a career change.
Orlando Bloom - Blargh!
Karl Urban - ok in LOTR, horrible everywhere else.
John Travolta - If uninspired.
Wesley Snipes - might fall under the Seagal/JCVD ruling.
Freddie Prinze Jr. - might fall under the Culkin ruling.
David Caruso - Granted mostly a TV actor but utterly useless.
Kevin Sorbo - Comment not needed.
Christopher Lambert - Hah heh hah… Awful.
Josh Hartnett - I fail to see why so many thinks he’s so good.

“Ted and honestly now who would’ve have a better Neo??”
make that “Ted and honestly now who would’ve made a better Neo??”
167. ThePunisher.gr - March 27th, 2008 at 6:59 am
All the above are shitty actors, and there is still a long list of decadent losers who claim to possess immense acting skills and dramatic abilities…
Festos, I think that the best Neo would have been Brandon Lee, If he was alive. A truly great actor who did not have a chance to shine, due to his unfortunate death…
168. Drogo - March 29th, 2008 at 1:01 am
I’ve watched several episodes of David Caruso’s show. Sometimes it seems like he doesn’t know the script, and is reading it - off - of - the - cue - cards - for - the - first - time. Why didn’t they reshoot those scenes? He’s more hammy than Shatner on Star Trek. I think Shatner’s hamminess(?) on Star Trek was because he was a Shakespearian actor doing his first TV show, where he had the odd role of playing a starship captain. William Shatner won some award for his current show, I hope that means he’s not as hammy as he was 40 years ago.

‘Tis been a while since I graced you all with truth, but it’s late, I’m drunk, and I don’t give a flying whateverthefuck.
Tom Cruise needs to be aborted by time travelers who would go back and shiv his mom. A worse affront to anything that could ever be called art has never happened and should not be allowed ever again. Popular only because girls thought he looked dreamy in underwear in Risky Business.
Hey gals- HE SUCKS!
Reeves sucks just as bad, if maybe just a little less. Ted was at least believable. Hmmm… moron makes big in Hollywood, bones chicks that have never seen (and can’t spell) The Godfather…
Let’s give him Millions and Millions and Bazillions!!!
Maybe he’ll grace us with the “Whoa”!
170. beccaz - March 29th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Tom Cruise! I may not like him, but his a good actor. And orlando bloom, he was gr8 in the Kingdom of Heaven. But I’d have to agree with you on Hayden Christensen.
171. Tomo - April 12th, 2008 at 3:17 am
A good list overall but not complete without mentioning Sly and Arnie, two of the worst yet probaly two of the most succesful actors of our time. Perhaps Orlando Bloom and Tom Cruise could be moved out to accomodate the pair.
172. Kate - April 23rd, 2008 at 8:20 am
Reeves was actually pretty amazing in a movie called ‘The Gift’ with Cate Blanchett. He actually outshone Hilary Swank, which is a difficult task.
I think that the kid from the OC (Adam.. adam something) definately belongs on this list. Without a doubt. Number one.
