10 Actors Way Older Than Their Characters

Bill Dawson . . . Comments

There’s an early scene in 2007’s Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, where 42-year-old John C. Reilly says, “I reckon it’s time for Dewey Cox to move on.” “But y-you’re only 14,” says Dewey’s mom. When thirty-four-year-old Kristen Wiig, as Edith, asks if she can join him Dewey says, “Of course you can, Edith. You’re my girlfriend.” “Did you hear that?” says Edith. “I’m Dewey’s 12 year-old girlfriend!”

As Homer Simpson says, “It’s funny ’cause it’s true.” Movie-makers love to cast actors old enough to have teen children in absurdly youthful roles. Here are ten examples:

Leslie Caron
26 years old as Gigi (15) in 1958’s Gigi

“Thank heaven for little girls,” sings 70-year-old Maurice Chevalier in his role as Honoré. Creepy. Gigi’s pretty songs and costumes disguise the unsavory fact that the still-a-kid character is being trained to be a courtesan, which Merriam-Webster defines as “a prostitute with a courtly, wealthy or upper-class clientele.” Audrey Hepburn, 22, played Gigi in the 1951 Broadway play.

Emma Thompson
36 – as Elinor Dashwood (19) in 1995’s Sense and Sensibility

Also: Greer Garson (35) as Elizabeth Bennet (20) in 1940’s Pride and Prejudice.

Jane Austen’s bright young women don’t talk like modern ingenues, so movie-makers often put those sublime words in older mouths. A bigger objection to Garson may be her looks; Darcy initially dismisses Elizabeth as “not pretty enough,” something never said about the gorgeous Garson. Thompson, who wrote the Sense and Sensibility screenplay, was sixteen years older than Kate Winslet, who played the 17-year-old Marianne Dashwood.

Barbra Streisand
41 – as Yentl (17) in 1983’s Yentl

Yentl 1983 685X385

Also: Whoopi Goldberg (29) as Celie (14) in 1985’s The Color Purple.

What was the bigger stretch? Streisand’s character pretending to be a boy so she could study the Talmud, or Streisand pretending to be seventeen? “She was too old for Yentl!” says a character in 1997’s In & Out. It’s hard to buy Goldberg as a 14-teen-year-old at the beginning of The Color Purple, but her character had already been serially raped by her stepfather, resulting in two children. That sort of thing can age a girl.

Stockard Channing
33 – as Betty Rizzo (17) in 1978’s Grease

1978 Grease 035 (2)

They didn’t always act like it, but those Rydell High kids were a mature bunch. Olivia Newton-John (Sandy) was 30, Didi Conn (Frenchie) and Jeff Conaway (Kenickie) were 27, and John Travolta (Danny Zuko) was a relative infant at 24. Rosie O’Donnell was 32 when debuted as Rizzo in a 1994 Broadway revival of Grease.

Audrey Hepburn
32 – as Holly Golightly (18) in 1961’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Also: Audrey Hepburn (35) Eliza Doolittle (18 or 20) in 1964’s My Fair Lady.

The waif-like Hepburn made a career of playing callow characters, including Natasha Rostov in 1956’s War and Peace; Natasha was 13 when she first appears in Tolstoy’s masterpiece. Tiffany’s author, Truman Capote, reportedly wanted Marilyn Monroe, also thirty-five, to play Holly. Wendy Hiller was 25 when she played Eliza, described by author George Bernard Shaw as “perhaps eighteen, perhaps twenty,” in 1938’s Pygmalion.

Maria Falconetti
35 – as Joan (19) in 1928’s The Passion of Joan of Arc

Also: Ingrid Bergman (33) as Joan (17) in 1948’s Joan of Arc.

The movie poster for The Passion described Falconetti as “The World’s Most Outstanding Screen Artist,” which she’d have to be to pass as nineteen. On the other hand, the film was based on the trial, torture and execution of Joan, which could’ve made her look old for her age. Bergman started out as the younger liberator of Orleans in the Hollywood film. Six years later, at 39, she played Joan again in then-husband Roberto Rossellini’s Giovanna d’Arco al rogo.

Julie Harris
26 – as Frankie Addams (12) in 1952’s A Member of The Wedding

Lots of 20-something actresses get cast as teens, but Harris got cast as a pre-teen tomboy in the film based on Carson McCullers’ 160-page novella. She co-starred with 10-year-old Brandon De Wilde of Shane fame, who played 6-year-old John Henry. For consistency’s sake, all the actors playing adults should have been at least seventy.

John Mills
38 – as Pip (20) in 1946’s Great Expectations.

What’s the biggest shock in movies? When the creature bursts out of John Hurt’s stomach in Alien, or when Tony Wager’s boy Pip transforms into John Mills’ young-man Pip, halfway through Great Expectations? At 38, Mills plays a 20-year-old, while looking every bit of 45. Alec Guinness, 32, portrayed Pip’s buddy, Herbert Pocket, and appeared young enough to pass as Mills’ son.

Dolores Cassinelli
35 – as Pocahontas (11) in 1923’s Jamestown.

Silent8 104 1

The concocted romance in 1995’s Pocahontas seems a little creepy, when you realize the girl was really only 11 or so when (and if) she saved John Smith’s life. After Cassinelli’s silent-screen performance, Pocahontas actresses got a little younger: Jody Lawrance was 23 in 1953’s Captain John Smith and Pocahontas, Gloria Talbot was 24 in 1955’s TV movie, America’s First Great Lady, and Sandrine Holt was 22 in 1995’s Pocahontas the Legend.

Leslie Howard
43 – as Romeo (15 or 16)

Also: Norma Shearer (35) as Juliet (13) in 1936’s Romeo and Juliet.

In Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy, Juliet is “not yet fourteen,” meaning that Shearer could have given birth to her own character at age twenty-two and Romeo at nineteen or twenty. Hey, when you’re married to the producer (Irving Thalberg), you get whatever roles you want. Howard’s penchant for portraying much younger men resurfaced when, at 46, he played 28-year-old Ashley Wilkes in Gone With The Wind.

  • Aaaaaaaa

  • Audrey Hepburn from the pic Audrey Hepburn pulled it off she’s a hottie. But Boring list nonetheless .

    • Auburn Tiger

Took the words right put of my mouth. I’m only familiar with two of the entries (which would normally be exciting, but that’s not the case here). Not my favorite list.

      • Auburn Tiger

I’ve decided that women are the intended audience of this list.

        • I kinda think so too, I liked the list

          • Auburn Tiger

Yeah, I think my girlfriend would probably like this. Not really my thing though.

  • I have seen 3 performances from this list and I never knew that the actors were older than their character!!

Audrey Hepburn was so beautiful and believable.

  • klaas e. fide

how about Robin Williams? when he played Patch Adams? he’s way too old for his character in this movie.

    • Brock Lee

…or when he was Jack, Playing a ten year old in a 40 year old body.

  • I hoped to see some less common ones, but a good idea for a list nonetheless. Someone should write a “10 actors who are younger than their characters” list.

  • I knew most were older than their characters but not by that much! I do have t agree however, that, overall it was a boring list… sorry : (

  • Nancy

What about Jason Earl from Hannah Montana? That was quite an age difference.

  • blake honda

i was thinking of Jason Earles from Hanna Montana. He’s 33 years old

    • Omg I never knew that! He even sounds like a kid. I would have said 20 at the oldest. My neices are gonna freeeeeak…

      • Same here . . . no older than 23 is what i thought

        • You said I lost manpoints for having a cd with gummi bear songs but now you know way more about Hannah Montana actors than any man should. Hypocrite ;-D

          • Im a 19year old woman . . . I have every right to know Hannah Montana characters . . . Quite flattered you think I’m male, seriously, I am

          • marlov

I think it’s the whole James Dean thing ;D

          • @marlov That should be the biggest indicator that I’m female

          • Julius

Why? I’m a dude but I like his style!

          • Like most females, Putting up a pic of a hot actor is common. so instead of The glitter vampire, I have James Dean. You are a dude yes, but you are a dude who has a Gummi bears CD and you think its awesome. . . I will never let that go :D

  • Jacoby

I know it’s television but… Gary Coleman anyone?

  • Audrey, Leslie and Stockard look very pretty

  • randomizer

I was expecting the cast of glee and clark kent in smallville ,i think his name is tom welling, all of whom are in their early thirties.

    • I was about to mentioned that but then i saw the description and thought maybe this is just for movies and TV series are not included

  • blink

Ellen Page in every other movie she starred in? (Hard Candy, Juno, Super…)

    • Maggot

I wouldn’t exactly say she was “way” older than some of those characters (as the list is titled). In Hard Candy, she was 18 playing 14. In Juno, she’s 20 playing 16. That said, I can easily see her maintaining her youthful appearance and continuing to portray teenage rolls for another 10 years or so.

      • Julius

It is even more extreme with Michael Cera. In 20 years he’ll still play goofy shy teenagers.

  • Will Trame

Perhaps a list concerning this subject should be directed toward the small screen as well. Henry Winkler (The Fonz) was 28 when “Happy Days” premiered.

Getting back to the motion picture realm, I’m not sure of this fact..but I believe that Kyle McLachlan was around the age of 27 when he starred in “Blue Velvet” (1986) while his character looked a lot more youthful.

  • Patriot

Why don’t you do the list about how wrongly accused are Croatian generals for defending their homeland. Patriot

    • why don’t you ?

    • Weird troll. I like the North Korean onemore….

    • Maggot

      10. Not very wrong
      9. Somewhat wrong
      8. Sort of wrong
      7. Just a bit wrong
      6. Definitely wrong
      5. That’s just wrong
      4. So wrong
      3. Unequivocally wrong
      2. I can’t believe how wrong they are
      1. Absolutely without a doubt: WRONG

I put a lot of time and research into this list for you. I hope you appreciate it.

      • Ryan

“I put a lot of time and research into this list for you.”

        WOW THAT’S GREAT!!……………………………NOT!!

That is what HAS to be done in making a list. It’s good if you did put a lot of time and effort, but the problems are,

        1) You did not write good explanation for any single item in your list. All the explanations are short and not focused on the entry itself. Example: entry number 7, Stockard Channing. Stockard Channing wasn’t even mentioned in the explanation.

        2) You wrote the explanations as if the readers are as familiar to movies as you. You may know a lot about the movies that you talked about in the list, but the readers are not.

Example 1: You put 2 examples in entry number 9, 8, 6, and 5. People will understand the reason for number 6 and 5 as they are the same actress and the same movie respectively. But for number 9 and 8, people will wonder what is the connection between the two examples. What is the connection between Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility? Remake? What is the connection between Yentl and The Color Purple? ???

Example 2: Entry number 9. Who the hell is Jane Austen?? Who the hell is Darcy?? Don’t be afraid to write longer explanations if that will help the readers to understand your point better.

        3) The base for the ordering of the list is not clear. If not very wrong to absolutely wrong is the base, then you did make your point clear enough. You did not explain why is it so.

        4) You are not consistent. What is the goal of this list? is it just to tell readers 10 examples of actor/actresses being cast for characters well under their ages? or is it also to mock to the movie makers for casting them? In some entries you mock straight forwardly but in some other entries you did not mock or very subtly mock. Be consistent, if you want to mock, mock them all. If not, people will think you’re a sour grape.

All in all, good idea but poor execution. Not a good list.

        • gollumizer

@ Ryan: are you replying to Maggot’s comment? He is replying to the comment about Croatian generals. I don’t think Maggot made the list.

If you still need it to be spelled out for you: *talking in slow motion*
Patriot said: Why don’t you do the list about how wrongly accused are Croatian generals for defending their homeland. Patriot
to which Maggot replied: 10. Not very wrong
          9. Somewhat wrong
          8. Sort of wrong
          7. Just a bit wrong
          6. Definitely wrong
          5. That’s just wrong
          4. So wrong
          3. Unequivocally wrong
          2. I can’t believe how wrong they are
          1. Absolutely without a doubt: WRONG

I put a lot of time and research into this list for you. I hope you appreciate it.

So, Maggot was talking about Croatian generals, and he meant to be ironic/sarcastic/sardonic (help me out here, someone?) in his reply. He did not, I repeat, MAGGOT DID NOT write this list, Bill Dawson did. If you want to comment on Bill Dawson, say something like: @ the author of the list: your comment. (in which you state your opinion about the list).

    • psychosurfer

      Sounds amusing!

Amazing what a bit of make up cream can do – No ?

  • bestever2682

winona ryder was almost 30 when she played a fresh out of high school susana kasen in 1999’s girl interrupted.

  • JudeTheObsene

Judy Garland was 16 when she played Dorothy Gale in the Wizard of Oz.

Now, because Baum wrote her as a generic child, with few descriptors, and never gave her a specific age. She could be as young as five or as old as twelve if you go by the illustrations in the books.

Judy’s costume in the film included a corset to flatten her breasts to make her appear younger. Studio publicity of the day usually gave the character’s age as twelve.

  • JE MIller

Kevin Spacey playing a young Bobby Darin comes to mind.

  • la

Where’s Mark Salling (Glee) and that kid from Hannah Montana lol

  • flgh

Where’s Kyle MacLachlan’s & Alec Newman’s Paul Atreides in Dune?

  • Lifeschool

Not a bad list, and quite entertaining. Several more came to mind:

    James Bond:

    Born: November 11, 1920

July 1950 – Bond is assigned to Double-O section of the British Secret Service (Bond: age 30)

    Casino Royale: June-July 1951 (age 31), (Daniel Craig: 38)

    Diamonds Are Forever: July-August 1954 (age 34), (Connery: 44)

    From a View to a Kill: May 1957 (age 37), (Moore: 58!)

    Indiana Jones:

    Born : July 1, 1899

Temple of Doom: 1935 (Jones age 36), (Ford: 42)

Raiders of the Lost Ark: 1936 (age 37), (Ford: 39)

The Last Crusade: 1938 (age 39), (Ford: 47)

    Crystal Skull: 1957 (age 58), (Ford: 66)

    Animal House:

    Students ages: 17-19

    “Otter”, (Tim Matheson), age 31

John “Bluto” Blutarsky (John Belushi), age 29

    Karate Kid Part III:

    Daniel LaRusso’s age: 19

Ralph Macchio: (as Daniel LaRusso), age 27

    In the Line Of Fire:

    Frank Horrigan, age: mid 50’s

Clint Eastwood (as Frank Horrigan), age 62

    The Horse Whisperer:

Tom Booker (character) based on Tom Dorrance, age: mid/late 40’s

Robert Redford (as Tom Booker), age 62.

    • Lifeschool

BTW, this text was neatly formatted but the LV parser made all these carriage returns :( It looks rubbish now.

  • oouchan

I alway thought the best one was Ralph Macchio (sp?) was I think 27 at the time of playing in The Karate Kid. I still like that movie, too. :)
Of course for movies now, we’ve got the entire cast of the Harry Potter series. Still love the books, but I can’t watch the movies.

    Neat list.

  • zammer007

Mike Farrell ( BJ Hunnicutt on MASH)

    was 40 / character was 28 – 30.

    Gary Burghoff ( Radar O’Reilly)

    was 29 – 36 / character was 20 – 22

    Jamie Farr ( Klinger )

    was 36 – 48 / character was about 23

Robert Conrad ( Pappy Boyington, Baa Baa Black Sheep )

    was 47 / character was 32

Anson Williams ( Potsie on Happy Days)

    was 24 / character was 17

    • Will Trame

While a majority of actors and actresses lie about their ages, Robert Conrad has always been a unique case. Most sources give his birthdate as March 1, 1935. My mother used to say that was pretty young for playing a senior detective on “Hawaiian Eye” which debuted in 1959 (Conrad would have been 24). Other sources have given Conrad’s birth year as being either 1929 or 1930.

  • Havery

Desreta Jackson actually played 14 year old Celie in the Color Purple…. Whoopi didnt come in until the character was in her early twenties… Which was still younger than Whoopie herself. You were kind of right -.- but not really

    • freeway

Haha you beat me to it, cheers!

      • rachel

Beat me too. That was really bothering me. He needs to make a correction.

    • joebecca

thank God someone realized that!!! I was gonna say!

  • Karen Smith

Rachel McAdams was 26 when she played high school junior Regina George in Mean Girls.

  • freeway

In The Color Purple, actress Desreta Jackson plays “young Celie” in the beginning of the film. Whoopi Goldberg was only late 20s when shooting the film, and she enters the story several years later, when Mister’s son Harpo (the kid who hit her in the head with a rock when she arrived) is grown. She may have played Celie a few years younger than herself then, but not at 14, and also plays her into old age.

  • deeeziner

Everything in this list was a bunch of moldy oldies….Casting must be a lot better these days.

This list is a great reflection of the “Studio’s Stable of Actors” mentality of the era.

  • Marlena

What about Sissy Spacek? She was 26 as Carrie. And Carrie is only 16.

  • Eddie

Stockard Channing was actually 34 when “Grease” came out, 34 and a half, actually.

Dean Martin played a college freshman, age 18, in the Martin and Lewis film “That’s My Boy” in 1951. He was 34 too, just like Stockard.

  • mordechaimordechai

Did anybody said Luke Perry? He must have been 51 on Beverly Hills 90210!

  • Film_Fan

This is nit-picky, I know, but the photo you’ve posted to illustrate “Member of the Wedding” is actually for the 1982 made for TV version, and not the 1952 movie staring Julie Harris, Ethel Waters, etc.

If you’ve seen the earlier film version, you’ll know that Julie Harris’ age, in no way, distracted from her performance or the believability of the character. She did, indeed, look to be about 12 years old.

If you want to add an honorable mention to this list, BTW, you might want to include Patty Duke, age 15, portraying Helen Keller, age 6, in the 1962 film, “The Miracle Worker.”

  • jakeryder

I guess it’s just movie actors. Richard Harris played Hamlet (18) on stage in his 60’s

  • Carole

What surprises me is Holly Golightly was only 18

  • Dopamine Addicted

how about the father from The Exorcist???

  • Pedro Paramo

In Mexico, Roberto Gómez Bolaños, A.K.A. Chespirito, played the role of ‘El Chavo’, a 8 years old kid, Chespirito has more than 50 years old. All the cast of the series also played roles as kids

  • Eumesmopo

Chespirito (+40?) as El Chavo del Ocho (8).

    • psychosurfer

      How about Chabelo!!!

  • profstrog

    The entire cast of Porkys?
The guy who played Uncle Jessie in Dukes of Hazzard?

    • Will Trame

I don’t know how old the Uncle Jesse character on “Dukes of Hazzard” was supposed to be, but actor Denver Pyle was in his late 50s when the show debuted in January 1979.

  • Jfrater is gay

once again you have posted a shitty list, list verse is just getting shittier and shittier. Before it was good list constantly, now its like 1 out of 10. I used to visit everyday, but now its like every two weeks just so i can see 2 good list. At least cracked always has a good list every day, you guys are failures.

    • Julius

Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.

      • khariel

Yeah, well, you are just, like, totally, like, like, like…

      • freeway

It’s amazing, people’s capacity to whine and bitch at length about a freakin list. It’s the nature of trivia that lists are going to be more or less engaging for different people based on their subject matter. But “Jfrater is GAY”?? And so what if he were gay? I’m gay. Jfrater rocks, gay or straight, and I love this site. So suck it, homophobe. Of course, you might be meaning the trendy usage of “gay” to mean “stupid”. Even better. You should change your name to Mr. *****y, or just stick to your beloved cracked.

    • khariel

Indeed, Cracked does have lists of far higher quality. I’m disappointed in listverse, I used to love this site.

  • psychosurfer

I found the list hilarious, most of these guys gave me the creeps, specially Rizzo´s super aggressive femme fatale pose in Grease, I found her role dreadful and way too exaggerated.

  • john Von Krouch

    I hate this website!

  • ann nony

You forgot about Mary Pickford, who MADE her career in silent film by portraying children even as a seriously mature actress…her career was killed not only by the advent of sound in motion pictures, but because her audience couldn’t accept her in age-appropriate roles.

  • venusbloo

This list should make No. 3 in the “Top 10 I Wish I’d Never Read That List Because I’ll Never Get That Time Back” list.

  • Spoofed in my pants

I totally recommend anything by the old queen of porn, Nina Hartley. HOT HOT HOT. Although I will admit I am a little biased, she is my aunt.

  • Sophia

You forgot Shirley Henderson (45) who plays Moaning Myrtle (young teenager) in the Harry Potter movies.

  • GJ

I’m a woman and this list is boring

  • Mimz

A bit more elaboration was definitely necessary for this list. If you’re going to ad ‘”also’s”, then make them a number and change the title of the list.

    This list ultimately sucked.

    • lively

The idea for this list was a good one but the content needs some work. It’s not very interesting.

  • anon

Alison Lohman in Matchstick Men she played a 13 yr old when she was like 26 or so at the time

  • vanessa

    Oh Amazing !!

Vanessa, has got a millionaire lover on ~~ Ri ch F li rts * c/-0 m ~~. Karen, who is 27 yrs old, married with a wealthy CEO with the help of this c lu b too. Will you be the next?

  • mike

    umm duuu-uh …..Danny Bonaduce????

  • Liz

The lady who played Moaning Myrtle (13-15?) in the Harry Potter series was 37 when she first appeared in Chamber of Secrets. I was always rather impressed by that one :)

  • mike

    Like…double duu-uuhhh??

    Gary Colemann???

  • Charlotte

The actor that plays Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory (Jim Parsons) is almost 40 years old. Sheldon himself is only 27.

  • HeyDude,CheckThisOut

I don’t care if Audrey was 32. She was still hot as hell !

  • khariel

What about Alan Rickman? I’m amazed he isn’t on here. He’s 65 and in DH Snape is only 38 — [spoilers] and also in the Prince’s Tale, Snape is only 21…[/spoilers]
    so that’s like a 44-year age gap!

  • Worm

The actress that plays Abby Sciuto on NCIS is 41. they never actually say how old she’s supposed to be on the show, but it is implied that she’s a youngish prodigy type.

  • I dont think Leslie Howard can act as Romeo who has younger age than him on that movie. :)

    Please visit me in

  • TUCO

  • Excellent list. Now go in the other direction. Estelle Getty was much younger than Sophia the Golden Girl, an entire Star Trek cast aged much worse in real life than in that episode where they got prematureley old, Stephanie Cole has made a career out of playing ladies three times her age (Waiting For God comes to mind) and must easily be #1 on any such list, etc.

    • SlappyJ

Add to that the kids in the movie, “The Patriot.” The movie spans about ten years but there is NO attempt to age any of the kids or replace them with older actors at the end. So the same kids who played nine-year olds end up playing nineteen-year olds!

  • br0ck

    Audrey Hepburn was hot!

    • Will Trame

I agree with you; Audrey was a hottie. I particularly liked her performance in “Wait Until Dark” (1967) where she played a blind woman terrorized by a psychotic killer (excellently played by Alan Arkin). That flick was a potent psychological thriller.

  • TUCO

  • Archie

I was surprised that Lillian Gish in Broken Blossoms or The Yellow Man and the Girl (1919) was missed off, but Lucy Burrow’s age wasn’t made clear!

  • You are so right about Hollywood. I wonder if their reasoning is that if they were to cast true to age kids in these roles , would they be able to effective, mature enough and convincing in the roles.

  • WyndFox

Absolutely everyone in The Blob, as well.

    • Slappy

Steve McQueen played a teen-ager in “The Blob,” but I’m not sure how old he really was. He looked too old for the role, though.

      • McQueen Fan

The Blob was from ’58 so he would have been 28 :)

  • rickp

How about Braveheart? Wasn’t Mel Gipson supposed to be in his early 20s?

.. all of this explains why I routinely was carded for alcohol until my mid-30’s (the last time was when I was 41). Movie characters in their teens and twenties are based on actors over 30.

some of us were around before the transformers and the ninja turtles, son…

  • Perhaps you should consider Amitabh Bacchan (67) playing role of Auro in Hindi movie Paa (2009) (; who is an intelligent and witty 13-year-old boy with an extremely rare genetic defect that causes accelerated aging. He suffers from a progeria-like syndrome. Mentally he is 13, very normal, but physically he looks five times older.

I’d like to see a list about the rudest celebrities, and another one for the nicest ones. I’ve heard about so many that are on either list, so it’d be nice to see a list like that. In any case, awesome list, I’m always talking with my mother about celebrities that are way older for the character they portray, so it’s kinda cool to see that this list covers a lot of the people we’ve mentioned.

For Sense and Sensibility it says in the script that they changed her age from 19 to about 25 or so so that the character could be slightly more believable.

In the 1996 film The Craft, all the actresses portraying teen schoolgirls are in their 20s;Fairuza Balk was 22,Neve Campbell was 23,Robin Tunney was 24,and Rachel True was 29.

First one I think of is Kevin Bacon who played a freshman in Animal House (78). He then played a Sr. in High School in Footloose (84) in which he was 26.

If this list were the other way around the undeniable number one would have been Dustin Hoffman in Little Big Man. Useless information? Of course. Nonetheless true. And somewhat relevant in a general sense.

I believe it’s in “Scary Movie,” the first one, where the teen-aged kids talk about how strange it would be if their lives were a movie and all the kids were played by actors in their thirties. Hehehe.

  • hi

don’t forget cory monteith, he’s in his 30’s and he plays an 18 year old. but to be fair he does look pretty young ;P

  • kinpaws12

an old man in his late fifties-early sixties plays a 12 year old school kid. more questions?

  • Enky

I always thought the kids in Grease looked waaay to old to be in High School.
