Top 10 Evil Serial Killers
- Published August 22, 2007 - 415 Comments
WARNING: This article contains descriptions of murders and links to photographs of the victims bodies. These are not just the standard notorious murderers; these are some of the most horrific killers to have been found guilty of their crimes. They are on this list either because of the nature of their crime, or the sheer number of their killings. Graphic images are marked with [!]. In no particular order:
1. Gilles de Rais, Born 1404 [Crimelibrary]
Gilles de Rais (a French nobleman) is considered to be the precursor to the modern serial killer. Before he began his killing spree, he rode as a military captain in the army lead by St Joan of Arc – though it is unlikely that she knew him. He was accused and ultimately convicted of torturing, raping and murdering dozens, if not hundreds, of young children, mainly boys.
According to surviving accounts, Rais lured children, mainly young boys who were blond haired and blue eyed (as he had been as a child), to his residences, and raped, tortured and mutilated them, often ejaculating, perhaps via masturbation, over the dying victim. He and his accomplices would then set up the severed heads of the children in order to judge which was the most fair. The precise number of Rais’s victims is not known, as most of the bodies were burned or buried. The number of murders is generally placed between 80 and 200; a few have conjectured numbers upwards of 600. The victims ranged in age from six to eighteen and included both sexes. Although Rais preferred boys, he would make do with young girls if circumstances required.
At the transcript of the trial, one of Gilles servants Henriet (an accomplice to his crimes) described the actions of his master, which were essentially:
Henriet soon began to collect children for his master, and was present whilst he massacred them. They were murdered invariably in one room at Machecoul. The marshal used to bathe in their blood; he was fond of making Gilles do Sillé, Pontou, or Henriet torture them, and he experienced intense pleasure in seeing them in their agonies. But his great passion was to welter in their blood. His servants would stab a child in the jugular vein, and let the blood squirt over him. The room was often steeped in blood. When the horrible deed was done, and the child was dead, the marshal would be filled with grief for what he had done, and would toss weeping and praying on a bed, or recite fervent prayers and litanies on his knees, whilst his servants washed the floor, and burned in the huge fireplace the bodies of the murdered children. With the bodies were burned the clothes and everything that had belonged to the little victims. An insupportable odour filled the room, but the Maréchal do Retz inhaled it with delight

2. Richard Trenton Chase, Born 1950 [Crimelibrary]
Richard Trenton Chase (May 23, 1950 – December 26, 1980) was an American serial killer who killed six people in the span of a month in California. He earned the nickname The Vampire of Sacramento due to his drinking of his victims’ blood and his cannibalism. He did this as part of a delusion that he needed to prevent Nazis from turning his blood into powder via poison they had planted beneath his soap dish.
On December 29, 1977, Chase killed his first victim in a drive-by shooting, Ambrose Griffin, a 51-year-old engineer and father of two. Chase’s next victim was Teresa Wallin. Three months pregnant, Teresa was surprised at her home by Chase, who shot her three times, killing her. He then had sex with the corpse and mutilated it, bathing in the dead woman’s blood. On January 27, Chase committed his final murders. Entering the home of 38-year-old Evelyn Miroth, he encountered her neighbor, Don Meredith, who he shot with the same .22 handgun. Stealing Meredith’s wallet and car keys, he rampaged through the house, fatally shooting Evelyn Miroth, her 6-year-old son Jason, and Miroth’s 22-month-old nephew, David. As with Teresa Wallin, Chase engaged in necrophilia and cannibalism with Miroth’s corpse. Chase returned to his home, where he drank David’s blood and ate several of the infant’s internal organs before disposing of the body at a nearby church. A witness saw him leaving the scene where he left perfect fingerprints and shoe-prints – leading to his arrest.
On May 8 Chase was found guilty of six counts of first degree murder and was sentenced to die in the gas chamber. Waiting to die, Chase became a feared presence in prison; the other inmates (including several gang members), aware of the graphic and bizarre nature of his crimes, feared him, and according to prison officials, they often tried to convince Chase to commit suicide. On December 26, 1980, a guard doing cell checks found Chase lying awkwardly on his bed, not breathing. An autopsy determined that he committed suicide with an overdose of prison doctor-prescribed antidepressants that he had been saving up over the last few weeks.

3. Jeffrey Dahmer, Born 1960 [Crimelibrary]
Dahmer murdered at least 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991, with the majority of the murders occurring between 1989 and 1991. His murders were particularly gruesome, involving acts of forced sodomy, necrophilia, dismemberment, and cannibalism. Dahmer committed his first murder when he was 18, killing Steven Hicks, a 19 year-old hitchhiker. Dahmer invited Hicks to his house, and killed him because he “didn’t want him to leave.”
On September 25, 1988, he was arrested for sexually fondling a 13-year-old Laotian boy in Milwaukee, for which he served 10 months of a one year sentence in a work release camp. However, in 1988 there was not yet a law requiring offenders to register when convicted of a sex crime against a minor. He convinced the judge that he needed therapy, and he was released with a five-year probation on good behavior. Shortly thereafter, he began a string of murders that would end with his arrest in 1991.
In the early morning hours of May 27, 1991, 14-year-old Milwaukee Laotian Konerak Sinthasomphone (the younger brother of the boy Dahmer had molested) was discovered on the street, wandering nude. Reports of the boy’s injuries varied. Dahmer told police that they had an argument while drinking, and that Sinthasomphone was his 19 year-old lover. Against the teenager’s protests, police turned him over to Dahmer. They had no suspicions, but reported smelling a strange scent. That scent was later found to be bodies in the back of his room. Later that night Dahmer killed and dismembered Sinthasomphone, keeping his skull as a souvenir. By the summer of 1991, Dahmer was murdering approximately one person each week.
On July 22, 1991, Dahmer lured another man, Tracy (Traci) Edwards, into his home. According to the would-be victim, Dahmer struggled with Edwards in order to handcuff him. Edwards escaped and alerted a police car, with the handcuffs still hanging from one hand. Edwards led police back to Dahmer’s apartment. The story of Dahmer’s arrest and the gruesome inventory in his apartment quickly gained notoriety: several corpses were stored in acid-filled vats, severed heads were found in his refrigerator, and implements for the construction of an altar of candles and human skulls were found in his closet. Accusations soon surfaced that Dahmer had practiced necrophilia, cannibalism, and possibly a form of trepanation in order to create so-called “zombies.”
The court found Dahmer guilty on 15 counts of murder and sentenced him to 15 life terms, totalling 937 years in prison. At his sentencing hearing, Dahmer expressed remorse for his actions, also saying that he wished for his own death. On November 28, 1994, Dahmer and another inmate named Jesse Anderson were beaten to death by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver while on work detail in the prison gym. Dahmer died from severe head trauma in the ambulance en route to the hospital.

4. Albert Fish, Born 1870 [Crimelibrary]
Albert Fish, also known as the Gray Man, the Werewolf of Wysteria and possibly the Brooklyn Vampire, boasted that he molested over 100 children, and was a suspect in at least five killings. Fish confessed to three murders that police were able to trace to a known homicide, and confessed to stabbing at least two other people. He was put on trial for the murder of Grace Budd, and was convicted and executed.
Fish was visited in prison by the mother of his victim Billy Gaffney to get more details about the death of her son. Fish said:
[I c]ut one of my belts in half, slit these halves in six strips about 8 inches long. I whipped his bare behind till the blood ran from his legs. I cut off his ears, nose, slit his mouth from ear to ear. Gouged out his eyes. He was dead then. I stuck the knife in his belly and held my mouth to his body and drank his blood. I picked up four old potato sacks and gathered a pile of stones. Then I cut him up. I had a grip with me. I put his nose, ears and a few slices of his belly in the grip. Then I cut him through the middle of his body. Just below the belly button. Then through his legs about 2 inches below his behind. I put this in my grip with a lot of paper. I cut off the head, feet, arms, hands and the legs below the knee.
In addition to this horrifying description, Fish confessed to eating parts of Billy:
I made a stew out of his ears, nose, pieces of his face and belly. I put onions, carrots, turnips, celery, salt and pepper. It was good. Then I split the cheeks of his behind open, cut off his monkey and pee wees and washed them first. I put strips of bacon on each cheek of his behind and put them in the oven. Then I picked 4 onions and when the meat had roasted about 1/4 hour, I poured about a pint of water over it for gravy and put in the onions. At frequent intervals I basted his behind with a wooden spoon. So the meat would be nice and juicy. In about 2 hours, it was nice and brown, cooked through. I never ate any roast turkey that tasted half as good as his sweet fat little behind did.
At his trial, several psychiatrists testified about Fish’s sexual fetishes, including coprophilia, urophilia, pedophilia and masochism. X-rays of Fish’s pelvis show needles which he inserted in to his skin for sexual pleasure.

5. Andrei Chikatilo, Born 1936 [Crimelibrary]
Andrei Chikatilo was a Ukrainian serial killer, nicknamed the Butcher of Rostov and ‘The Red Ripper.’ He was convicted of the murder of 53 women and children between 1978 and 1990. In 1978, Chikatilo moved to Shakhty, a small coal mining town near Rostov, where he committed his first documented murder. On December 22, he lured a nine-year-old girl to an old house which he bought in secret from his family and attempted to rape her. When the girl struggled, he stabbed her to death. He ejaculated in the process of knifing the child, and from then on he was only able to achieve sexual arousal and orgasm through stabbing and slashing women and children to death. Despite evidence linking Chikatilo to the girl’s death, a young man, Alexsandr Kravchenko, was arrested and later tried and executed for the crime.
He established a pattern of approaching runaways and young vagrants at bus or railway stations and enticing them to leave. A quick trip into a nearby forest was the scene for the victim’s death. In 1983, he did not kill until June, but then he murdered four victims before September. The victims were all women and children. The adult females were often prostitutes or homeless tramps who could be lured with promises of alcohol or money. Chikatilo would usually attempt intercourse with these victims, but would usually be unable to get an erection, which would send him into a murderous fury. The child victims were of both sexes, and Chikatilo would lure them away with his friendly, talkative manner by promising them toys or candy. In the USSR at the time, reports of crimes like child rape and serial murder were often suppressed by the state-controlled media, as such crimes were regarded as being common only in “hedonistic capitalist nations.”
In 1988 Chikatilo resumed killing, generally keeping his activities far from the Rostov area. He murdered a woman in Krasny-Sulin in April and went on to kill another eight people that year, including two victims in Shakhty. Again there was a long lapse before Chikatilo resumed killing, murdering seven boys and two women between January and November of 1990. He was finally caught when trying to approach young children whilst under police surveillance. He went to trial on April 14, 1992. Despite his odd and disruptive behavior in court, he was judged fit to stand trial. During the trial he was famously kept in a cage in the center of the courtroom; it was constructed for his own protection from the relatives of the deceased. The trial had a very disturbing atmosphere. The relatives kept shouting threats and insults to Chikatilo, demanding the authorities to release him so that they could execute him on their own. He was found guilty of 52 of the 53 murders and sentenced to death for each offense.
He was executed by firing squad (shot in the back of the head) on February 14, 1994 after Russian president Boris Yeltsin refused a last ditch appeal by Chikatilo for clemency.

6. Joachim Kroll, Born 1933 [Crimelibrary]
Kroll was a German serial killer and cannibal. He was known as the Ruhr Cannibal (Ruhrkannibale), and the Duisburg Man-Eater (Duisburger Menschenfresser). He was convicted of eight murders but confessed to a total of 13.
On July 3, 1976, Kroll was arrested for kidnapping and killing a four-year-old girl named Marion Ketter. As police went from home to home, a neighbor approached a policeman and told him that the waste-pipe in his apartment building had blocked up, and when he had asked his neighbor, Kroll, whether he knew what had been blocking the pipe, Kroll had simply replied; “Guts”. Upon this report, the police went up to Kroll’s apartment and found the body of the Ketter girl cut up: some parts were in the fridge, a hand was cooking in a pan of boiling water and the intestines were found stuck in the waste-pipe.
Kroll said that he often sliced portions of flesh from his victims to cook and eat them, claiming that he did this to save on his grocery bills. In custody, he believed that he was going to get a simple operation to cure him of his homicidal urges and would then be released from prison. Instead he was charged with eight murders and one attempted murder. In April 1982, after a 151-day trial, he was convicted on all counts and was given nine life sentences.
He died of a heart attack in 1991 in the prison of Rheinbach, near Bonn.
7. Dennis Rader, Born 1945 [Crimelibrary]
Rader is an American serial killer who murdered at least 10 people in Sedgwick County (in and around Wichita), Kansas, between 1974 and 1991. He was known as the BTK killer (or the BTK strangler), which stands for Bind, Torture and Kill, an apt description of his modus operandi. Letters were written soon after the killings to police and to local news outlets, boasting of the crimes and knowledge of details. After a long hiatus these letters resumed in 2004, leading to his arrest in 2005 and subsequent conviction.
Using personal jargon for his killing equipment, Rader casually described his victims as his “projects” and at one point likened his murders to euthanizing animals by saying he “put them down.” Rader created what he called a “hit kit,” a briefcase or bowling bag containing the items he would use during murders: guns, tape, rope and handcuffs. He also packed what he called “hit clothes” that he would wear for the crimes and then dispose of. Rader bound, tortured, and killed his victims. Rader would strangle his victims until they lost consciousness, then let them revive, then strangle them again. He would repeat the pattern over and over again, forcing them to experience near-death, becoming sexually aroused at the sight of their struggles. Finally, Rader would strangle them to death and masturbate to ejaculation into an article of their clothing, usually underwear.
Rader was particularly known for sending taunting letters to police and newspapers. There were several communications from BTK during 1974 to 1979. The first was a letter that had been stashed in an engineering book in the Wichita Public Library in October 1974 that described in detail the killing of the Otero family in January of that year. In early 1978 he sent another letter to television station KAKE in Wichita claiming responsibility for the murders of the Oteros, Shirley Vian, Nancy Fox and another unidentified victim assumed to be Kathryn Bright. He suggested a number of possible names for himself, including the one that stuck: BTK
A sample of one of his letters:
The victims are tie up-most have been women-phone cut- bring some bondage mater sadist tendencies-no struggle, outside the death spot-no wintness except the Vain’s Kids. They were very lucky; a phone call save them. I was go-ng to tape the boys and put plastics bag over there head like I did Joseph, and Shirley. And then hang the girl. God-oh God what a beautiful sexual relief that would been. Josephine, when I hung her really turn me on; her pleading for mercy then the rope took whole, she helpless; staring at me with wide terror fill eyes the rope getting tighter-tighter.
Rader plead guilty and was sentenced to life in prison – a sentence he is currently still serving.

8. John Haigh, Born 1909 [Crimelibrary]
John George Haigh (July 24, 1909 — August 10, 1949), the “Acid Bath Murderer”, was a serial killer in England during the 1940s. He was convicted of the murders of six people, although he claimed to have killed a total of nine, dissolving their bodies in sulphuric acid before forging papers in order to sell their possessions and collect substantial sums of money. He acted under the mistaken belief that police needed a body before they could bring a charge of murder. As a consequence, he was convicted through forensic evidence and executed on August 10, 1949.
After hiring rooms in Glouster Road, London, he bumped into an old wealthy boss William McSwann in the Goat pub in Kensington. McSwann introduced Haigh to his parents, Donald and Amy, who mentioned that they had invested in property. On 6 September, 1944, McSwann disappeared. Haigh later said he hit him over the head after luring him into a basement at 79 Gloucester Road, London SW7. He then put McSwann’s body into a 40-gallon drum and tipped sulphuric acid on to it. Two days later he returned to find the body had become sludge, which he poured down a manhole.
He told McSwann’s parents their son had fled to Scotland to avoid being called up for military service. Haigh then took over McSwann’s and when Don and Amy become curious about why their son had not returned after the war was coming to an end, he murdered them too. On July 2, 1945, he lured them to Gloucester Road and disposed of them.
Detectives soon discovered Haigh’s record of theft and fraud and searched the workshop. Police not only found Haigh’s attaché case containing a dry cleaner’s receipt for Mrs Durand-Deacon’s coat, but also papers referring to the Hendersons and McSwanns. Further investigation of the sludge at the workshop by the pathologist Keith Simpson revealed three human gallstones.
It was reported that Haigh, in the condemned cell at Wandsworth Prison, asked one of his jailers, Jack Morwood, whether it would be possible to have a trial run of his hanging so everything would run smoothly. It is likely his request went no further, or, if it did, the request was denied. Whatever the case, Haigh was led to the gallows by Chief Executioner Albert Pierrepoint on August 10, 1949.
9. Javed Iqbal, Born 1956 [Crimelibrary]
Javed Iqbal Mughal (1956?-2001) was a serial killer from Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. He claimed he killed 100 boys during an 18 month period. He had been arrested in June 1998 for sexually abusing 2 boys for money. He went off on bail, and began murdering boys shortly afterwards. Iqbal found boys on the street, charmed them into his confidence, and then drugged, raped, and strangled them. He then cut the body into pieces and put them in a vat filled with hydrochloric acid. Once all of the remains were liquified, he dumped them. He first used the sewer, until neighbors complained of an acrid stench. He then decided to use the Ravi River. The partially liquified remains of two boys, one of whom was named Ijaz, were the only ones found of Iqbal’s victims. He kept the rest in an acid drum outside his house. He also kept clothing and shoes as trophies of his crimes. When he got to his fiftieth victim, he started taking pictures of them.
No one had noticed the disappearance of the boys that Iqbal killed. Iqbal claimed that he could have killed 500 if he had wanted to. He reportedly said “I am Javed Iqbal, killer of 100 children … I hate this world, I am not ashamed of my action and I am ready to die. I have no regrets. I killed 100 children.”
From a letter written by Iqbal:
“I had sexually assaulted 100 children before killing them,” read the first placard. “All the details of the murders are contained in the diary and the 32-page notebook that have been placed in the room and had also been sent to the authorities. This is my confessional statement.”
Iqbal was sentenced to death by hanging, although the judge said he would have liked Iqbal to be strangled 100 times, cut into 100 pieces, and put him in acid. Before this sentence could be carried out, he was found strangled with his bed sheets in his prison cell on October 7, 2001. One of his accomplices, Sajid, was also strangled. Pakistani authorities say that the men committed suicide. Another accomplice had previously fallen to his death from a CIA window.
10. Ted Bundy, Born 1946 [Crimelibrary]
heodore Robert ‘Ted’ Bundy (November 24, 1946 – January 24, 1989) is one of the most infamous serial killers in U.S. history. Bundy raped and murdered scores of young women across the United States between 1974 and 1978. After more than a decade of vigorous denials, Bundy eventually confessed to 30 murders, although the actual total of victims remains unknown. Typically, Bundy would rape then murder his victims by bludgeoning, and sometimes by strangulation. He also engaged in necrophilia.
He would approach a potential victim in a public place, even in daylight or in a crowd, as when he abducted Ott and Naslund at Lake Sammamish or when he kidnapped Leach from her school. Bundy had various ways of gaining a victim’s trust. Sometimes, he would feign injury, wearing his arm in a sling or wearing a fake cast, as in the murders of Hawkins, Rancourt, Ott, Naslund, and Cunningham. At other times Bundy would impersonate an authority figure; he pretended to be a policeman when approaching Carol DaRonch. The day before he killed Kimberly Leach, Bundy approached another young Florida girl pretending to be “Richard Burton, Fire Department,” but left hurriedly after her older brother arrived.
After luring a victim to his car, Bundy would hit her in the head with a crowbar he had placed underneath his Volkswagen or hidden inside it. Every recovered skull, except for that of Kimberly Leach, showed signs of blunt force trauma. Bundy often would drink alcohol prior to finding a victim.
On death row, Bundy admitted to decapitating at least a dozen of his victims with a hacksaw. He kept the severed heads later found on Taylor Mountain in his room or apartment for some time before finally disposing of them. Bundy also confessed to visiting his victims’ bodies over and over again at the Taylor Mountain body dump site. He stated that he would lie with them for hours, applying makeup to their corpses and having sex with their decomposing bodies until putrefaction forced him to abandon the remains.
Despite having five court-appointed lawyers, he insisted on acting as his own attorney and even cross-examined witnesses, including the police officer who had discovered Margaret Bowman’s body. The Judge, when passing sentence said:
“It is ordered that you be put to death by a current of electricity, that current be passed through your body until you are dead. Take care of yourself, young man. I say that to you sincerely; take care of yourself, please. It is an utter tragedy for this court to see such a total waste of humanity as I’ve experienced in this courtroom. You’re an intelligent young man. You’d have made a good lawyer, and I would have loved to have you practice in front of me, but you went another way, partner. Take care of yourself. I don’t feel any animosity toward you. I want you to know that. Once again, take care of yourself.”
Bundy was executed in the Electric Chair at 7:06 a.m. local time on January 24, 1989. His last words were “I’d like you to give my love to my family and friends.”

…unbelievable.

Why didn’t you bother mentioning any women?
Lizzie Borden?
Mary Ann Cotton?
Squeaky Fromme?
http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/women/index.html
August 22nd, 2007 at 6:42 am
dalandzadgad: but true. The things people can do to each other are quite horrific – and even worse is the lack of remorse shown by some.
August 22nd, 2007 at 6:47 am
Oneguy: Lizzie Borden was found not guilty. Mary Ann Cotton could certainly be on a list like this – though arsenic poisoning is not as brutal as what we have here. I didn’t include any of the Manson gang as they think they would fit a better bill in another list in the future. Thanks for mentioning them though, and rest assured, I did not intentionally omit women from the list. I think a top 10 female murderers might be a good idea for a future list though.

Good grief. Welcome to “Sick Puppies ‘R’ Us”…

Andre: yup!

One female to be considered would have been Elizabeth Bathory, the Blood Countess of Hungary. And one that I was disappointed not to see was Fritz Haarmann, The Butcher of Hannover.
August 22nd, 2007 at 8:25 am
Siope: Bathory will almost certainly be on the Top 10 Female killers.

I grew up in Lake City where Kimberly Leach was from. She was several years older than me so I didn’t know her, but her father was customer and friend of our family. Went to the same school and everything. So that one hits close to home. It was a happy day in town when they fried Bundy.
August 22nd, 2007 at 10:01 am
Herman Mudgett should definitely be up there. He built a hotel which was actually a castle of death, with soundproof rooms, rooms for gassing victims, surgical torture rooms, secret stairs, acid vats and crematorium for body disposal, and multi-floor chutes for moving bodies around. He confessed to 27 kills, later inflating it to 200.

Thanks

I love your site, your lists are great but you should make longer lists
August 22nd, 2007 at 4:57 pm
Wow. Definately very disturbing. I was going to mention Bathory, too, but someone beat me to it.
What did I learn from this article? That the best way to deal with a body is to liquify it in acid and dump it in the river. =P All joking aside though, there are some very sick people out there. And the judge with the Bundy sentence? Also kind of sketchy…Great list though. Thanks.

Some really f*cking creepy fellows to say the least.
It must of been a challenge to narrow it down to 10. Dennis Nilsen should be a notable under Dahmer–or the other way around as far as necrophiles go.
I know there’s got to be a “cult leaders list” in the works.
ianrey: H.H. Holmes in a way started the whole, in modern America serial killer awareness, from what I understand.
August 22nd, 2007 at 8:38 pm
oops, I was trying to add my #22. comment. cant seem to erase.
August 22nd, 2007 at 8:47 pm
Asta: An abberation within any attempt at “understanding” how and why, so it seems.
August 22nd, 2007 at 8:56 pm
that judge for bundy was a creep. how do you not feel animosity towards him after what he did? someone should look into whether he was a serial killer too, i mean geez, thats just messed up
August 22nd, 2007 at 10:16 pm
Kelsi: Fortunately for the world, that didn’t stop Haigh getting a conviction
(he was the acidbath guy)
DMH: Thanks – good suggestions – they are noted.
Aud: is that sarcasm?
Monteze: he gets a mention in the notables
Asta: Mary Bell is still alive somewhere too. Apparently she rehabilitated.
tjgrs: I think that really goes to show how good a manipulator Bundy was – an ability that made it easier for him to get away with his crimes for so long. You get the feeling that if Bundy wasn’t before him in court, the Judge would let his daughter go out on a date with him!
August 23rd, 2007 at 2:20 pm
Jfrater: No sarcasm I really want more
August 24th, 2007 at 12:28 am
Aud: haha okay. Sometimes it is easy to make a long post, but other times it is not. I will try to keep it in mind though

robert ‘willie’ pickton, here is a link to some info on him:
http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial_killers/predators/robert_pickton/1.html
i currently live and spent my teenage years here in port coquitlam at the time of the killings and i live about 10 min. from the farm. i made the journey to the pickton farm and have taken photos of what is left. the brother has now committed to raising cows on the land, i can see if robert pickton lived on the farm alone how no one would know about the ongoings, but i really doubt the brothers statement that he had no clue of his brothers activities.
the one thing that really pisses me off is the fact that pickton gets a huge police escort to and from his trial that moves threw the rush hour trffic with lights and sirens blaring while working stiffs like myself have to wait for them to pass.
if you want to see the pictures i’ve taken lmk and i’ll post them at a hosting site for you to view.

Gr8flDdFn: definitely – I would love to see them. Thanks.
August 24th, 2007 at 6:03 pm
The picture of Dahmer victim #2 is NOT that of a real victim. This is a postman who accidentally strangled himself while masturbating. How do I know? Because this same illustration appears in the forensic pathology guide ‘Medicolegal Investigation of Death’, in the section on death by asphyxiation.
August 24th, 2007 at 6:57 pm
What about the killer of childs en ATlanta, or chicago? The black couple who shot people? The cousing who killing protitutes en Los Angeles? The guy who stalker Los Angeles? ok, i uploaded the pickton photos to a site for your viewing, i hope this link works. i don’t think you have to be a member to view the pictures either.

TMosely: thank you for that information – I found the image on a site about Dahmer so that is a bit disappointing. I will rectify it now.
Luis: thanks for mentioning those – I considered adding the vampire of dusseldorf but information was a bit scarce.
August 24th, 2007 at 11:58 pm
Gr8flDdFn: wow – thanks for posting those – it makes something seem more real when you see personal photos rather than media ones.
August 30th, 2007 at 2:42 am
Excellent list. You should have included Ed Gein.
Gein was the inspiration for the novel “Psycho”, and cinematic murderers such as “Leather face”, “Buffalo Bill”, Hannibal Lector” and more. Here is a link to an interesting video about Gein.
I’ve always had a fascination with Ted Bundy. I’ve read nearly every book about him. Here’s a link to a video about Bundy, that I enjoyed.
I also happen to live in Sacramento,California, not far from where Richard Chase committed his crimes. That was one creepy fellow. I recommend the book “Dracula Killer” by LT.Ray Biondi the homicide detective whom spearheaded the investigation.
August 30th, 2007 at 2:50 am
NightProwler: I didn’t add Gein because he was only found to have killed 2 people. He was, nevertheless, very creepy! Thanks for mentioning him. Thanks for the clips too
September 1st, 2007 at 4:17 pm
living as a serrial killer is like worrior path we fight until its over living with fearless and courage it is our fate
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:36 am
blue ripper: that comment makes me nervous
September 5th, 2007 at 10:28 am
How about Donald “Pee Wee” Gaskins? He was the most famous killer in S.C. I remember seeing his hearse around town when I was a young teenager.
Great site, BTW!!!!

is it just me? or is the number of American serial killers disproportionate to the global population – scary country – scary people….
September 6th, 2007 at 12:57 am
RWDrummer: thanks for the links – interesting guy!
Pat: I bet if you work it out on populace, America would not be much different from other places. The United Kingdom has had its fair share of serial killers in recent years – some of them incredibly sadistic.
September 17th, 2007 at 7:09 pm
I’d put Richard Ramirez in there for sure. That guy did some messed up stuff too. Ed Gein is another one that’s always freaked me out.
September 23rd, 2007 at 11:47 pm
Did you know that they’re featuring Gilles as a character in an upcoming videogame of the Hundred Years War?
September 24th, 2007 at 12:30 am
Brian: I didn’t know that. He is often portrayed in movies and literature – though normally with only a small part. It is interesting that all these hundreds of years later he is now moving in to games!
September 26th, 2007 at 10:28 am
I feel sick to my stomach. People can be so twisted and depraved.
September 26th, 2007 at 10:34 am
heavenlymayday – It is hard to comprehend a person being capable of these things.
October 12th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
“Although Rais preferred boys, he would make do with young girls if circumstances required.” OMFG “required” …is that the proper word ?! anyway…when i was 16 my dad bought me a book “The Enciclopedy of serial killers” , and i came across of a strange thing, it’s not exactly “serial killer” stuff, but if you liked those, you’ll love this one. So it’s in the middle of ww2, and in some small town of Russia (as i recall) the men were called to arms. But some antiwar women, didn’t aprove it, and they decided their men should not go and fight, kill, plunder, rape…etc… So they poisoned all the men in the village. I don’t remember much details, but i’ll keep searchin’ maybe i will find a link of smth. Great list!
October 17th, 2007 at 8:54 am
What about Vlad Dracula, he was pretty twisted
October 17th, 2007 at 9:02 am
Ashar: he was not a serial killer – he was the law. Evil though. He is on top 10 evil men.
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:09 pm
john wayne gacy jr?
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:11 pm
u know i dont know why but when they murder children in this way it just stays in ur head forever
like what albert fish did to those kids its horriffic i just hate peodophiles of any kind i think they should have a death penelty for any1 who sexually abuses kids and kills them bcs to me it looks likes that it is increasing and the law is not as heavy with them as it should b
and those pics r disturbing especially the dalmer victim

Bundy always fascinated me…because he was bright and handsome. He confesses to several murders in these tapes. Chilling.
November 14th, 2007 at 5:45 pm
You guys are right. Herman Webster Mudgett(H.H.Holmes) was a sick one, and Elisabeth Bathory, both of which I’ve done reseach papers on. My friend even did one on John Gacy. I know their noted, but maybe you should do a list on the top ten American serial killers. Of course Bathory wouldn’t be on there, but the other two would definitely make it. I also think that maybe you should have put Jack the Ripper up there. I know nobody for sure knows his idenity and all, but he was a cocky, cannible bastard, that was definitely one of the worst. Any how, nice list!
November 27th, 2007 at 1:14 pm
No love here for Vlad the impaler aka Dracula ?
November 27th, 2007 at 1:52 pm
edjofjupiter – top 10 evil men
November 30th, 2007 at 6:43 am
Two I think belong in the list:
1. John Wayne Gacy
2. Richard Speck
Honorable Mention:
Richard Kuklinski- “The Ice Man”
December 1st, 2007 at 11:56 pm
The harp brothers are considered Americas first serial killers. Way before H.H. Holmes.
December 2nd, 2007 at 3:46 am
I did a report on Richard Trenton Chase for a Psych class last year. What I find fascinating about his case is that there were so many signs that he was deeply disturbed, and needed to be at the very least institutionalized, and yet no one did anything until he started killing people. I was a bit dissapointed that you didn’t include in your description that prior to killing humans, he killed and ate neighborhood pets, and also that when the police examined his apartment, they found a lot of evidence that he had taken “parts” home and dined on them there.
December 2nd, 2007 at 4:14 am
Tyree: thanks for your comment. If caught early on, do you think that there is anything that can be done to prevent the child from killing in the future?
December 9th, 2007 at 1:15 am
Why isnt the Monster of the Andes, aka Pedro Alonso Lopez on this list!!?? he killed about 300 people!!! WTF??
December 16th, 2007 at 10:50 pm
I was going to say the same. Lopez should be at number one. Also no Henry Lee Lucas. Arthur Shawcross and John Wayne Gacy is a suprising omission. I am also in agreement about H H Holmes. He should be at number two after Lopez, in my humble opinion that is.
December 21st, 2007 at 10:35 pm
What about Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker? Ugh.
December 26th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
What about the “Iceman” I’m not sure on his real name but he was crazy!
December 28th, 2007 at 6:53 pm
What about the hillside stranglers??
December 30th, 2007 at 7:38 pm
harold shipman? The doctor who killed hundreds of
his patients!?
January 2nd, 2008 at 10:11 am
Funny how they don’t include the unborn baby in number 2 as a murder. This is some sick stuff, I think this goes way past people with psychological problems and is just a manifestation of evil, absolute pure sickening evil.
January 2nd, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Why can’t we have a serial killer WHO KILLS serial killers?
January 2nd, 2008 at 11:01 pm
snowkid32: Watch the movie “suspect zero” it might make you feel better. Really scary is #7’s brother is an aquaintance of mine. Too close to home!! Also, one of his victoms was a 1st cousin of a co-worker.
January 3rd, 2008 at 10:05 pm

January 4th, 2008 at 7:21 am
snowkid, watch the series dexter
January 6th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Jamie, I wonder if there’s any way to empirically assess whether or not children can be ’saved’ from going down the path of becoming a serial killer. I bet a lot of people have had their lives turned around by some positive influence, but we’d never know what horrors might have been, so the results go unremarked.
January 9th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
What about Ed Gein? Wasn’t he the inspiration for the Texas Chainsaw films/
January 11th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Please do a list on perverted judges who admirer the so-called “brilliance” of sick fucks like Ted Bundy… that fucking judge should have been suspended…pretty outrageous telling that piece of shit to “take care.”
Of course the judge and Bundy look alike…
Its interesting you took the time to note the judges loving farewells.
All serial killers should be excuted….slowly.
tax dollars are paying for these scumbags to stay alive…
January 14th, 2008 at 4:52 am
whhere is pedro lopez, H.H holmes, Kuklinski, David Parker ray and Berdella, it’s not a bad list, i just thought these people should have been on it
January 24th, 2008 at 9:36 am
Bundy died 19 years ago today!
January 24th, 2008 at 9:49 am
Amber: good riddance!
January 24th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Elizabeth Bathory needs to be on this list.
January 25th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Thank you for taking time to put this to gether.
I always feel like iam the onlyone thinking of this sick shit. we are all doomed.
January 30th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Why has there been no mention of Robert Ben Rhoades the truck driver who maintained a rolling torture chamber. I had the misfortune of meeting him at a truck-stop in Fort Branch In. in 1987, from the moment I saw the headlines in 1990 it awoke an interest into the world of serial killers that has tickled my brain for 18 years. This man was definately one of the most prolific of all torture/killers of all time.
January 30th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
I appreciate the work you have put in to this site. Please feel free to e-mail me with updates or any type of feedback, my library and knowledgeof all serial killers is VERY extensive.
January 30th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Sorry for the grammatical errors! I’m afraid the Lowenbrau is starting to cloud my thoughts and diminish my motor skills.
February 4th, 2008 at 8:46 am
Fred West was a fairly unsavoury chap too
February 9th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Good list, and well-written. I think a list of evil serial killers should include Gary Heidnik and Ed Kemper. I would probably also move Albert Fish up the list, he is just so sick that I don’t think anyone will ever understand his twisted state of mind. Coprophilia, urophilia and pedophilia mixed with masochism and cannabalism = one of the top 3 sickest and most evil homo-sapiens to walk on the face of the earth.
Good job with the list. Thanks for the story on H.H Holmes, that horrific hotel/castle he build i Chicago gives me the creeps.
- Thor, Denmark.
February 14th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Although I did expect Gacy to be on the actual list and not just a notable omission, I realize that there are too many serial killers on the planet and throughout history to fit onto a list such as this. I saw a lot of names of killers suggested in the comments and I began thinking about how terrifying humans can be. It’s an awful thought that there will always be new serial killers emerging. How can so many people’s mind’s be diseased to this point? And no one noticed the disappearance of the 100 children Iqbal killed?! That’s unbelievably tragic!
February 22nd, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Did any one else notice, especially in the pic that is on the list, that Ted Bundy and Bob Saget could be brothers. They look way to much alike it is very creepy!!!
February 22nd, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Well, I for one will never look at full house the same again!
“No, Michelle, Daddy’s a mass murderer”
February 24th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
And they can be anyone….
Even you….
Even me….
no one will ever know the secrets these people have had….
no one will ever see it….
So dont talk shit about them…
you arnt them…
You dont know what they went though…
Take a look at yourself.
February 26th, 2008 at 8:54 am
where is JACK THE RIPPER?
March 11th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Where is Coral Eugene Watts? African American, he is considered the most prolific serial killer in american history. He’s from Killeen,Texas. This happened in the 80’s. He’s said to have killed about 100 women, most white. Most times he killed two or more at a time. He’d follow them in his car and get out come behind them and stab them, hang them or break in their homes and drown them! His modi operandi veried and his killings so quick, he left no DNA. Unable to nab him for most of the murders due to this (finally caught in the act with two), he recieved a deal which they discovered would have him released in the 90s. Google Coral Eugene Watts or crimelibrary.com. You will wonder why we’ve never heard of him!
March 19th, 2008 at 7:17 am
NO JACK THE RIPPER… he must BE in the list
March 19th, 2008 at 10:51 am
OMG, this page really made me think lol, i mean i didnt think that killings were as brutal as this, and sorry guys on here, but its all men who are on here, sexual fantasys from killing people :O thats just a tad wrong, however there are no women mentioned on here, it would be good to see how women do it, not that its a good thing to kill people but just to see if womens killings are anything like this!
i actually gipped when reading about the one about canabalism and having sex with the corpse, i actually gipped!!! thats how sick it is!
well anyway, helped me with my coursework.
March 19th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
In regards to jayde, what do you mean it helped you with your coursework, explain because like what i it History or like English. And anyway i’m aware of a serial killer that has commited several horrific murders that have some relation to the seven deadly sins i think…well thats what my friend told me anyway out motherfuckers
March 19th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
I did mes that up a bit let me refraze expalin because like is it history, god damn letter i motherfucker
March 19th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Well, i feel when covering such a complex you have to take into consideration motivation and what drives these wayward and in some cases odious individuals. Firstly, many are deprived economically and generally wish to take ou their distain on prosperous porcine business men or women. Secondly, the blame can not always lie upon the killers thmeself its the enviroment in which they live in and family that have immense impact on their opinion. Finally, i have felt the only route is to take the path of murder, though this i hae my education at Harvard to consider and other complications to resolve…if my life does not pan out as i predict, well.
March 20th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Where the hell is Ed gein…a report on him please this is insane he was possibly the most sadistic and immesnly delusional killer ever. ANYBODY ONLINE NOW RESPOND TO THIS.
March 22nd, 2008 at 3:52 pm
1. Albert Fish – because “he” was not “he”, Albert Fish was “it”…an Alien…pure Evil !
2. Carl Panzram – King of Hate & Violence !
3. Ed Gein – “Psycho”…transsexual necrophile & 110 % schizofrenic
4. …all the rest…
March 26th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
I LOVE ALL THE PICTURES N HIS WORK , BUT AS A FAN OF THE WORK OF RICHARD RAMIREZ (THE NIGHT STALKER)PUT IN THERE , HIS 1 OF THE TOP’S 10, SO MORE RESPECT!!!!!!!
April 1st, 2008 at 5:32 pm
So what is up with Gary Ridgeway? Why the hell is he not on this list? He is a pig!
April 6th, 2008 at 1:54 am
I agree with Alice. We don’t know what led those people to
act like this. I don’t say that their actions are correct
but it’s better to seek their minds and find “what” and “why”
they are doing all these things. They need help, they ask for help but we can’t see them,we ignore them and the only thing that we are doing is to acuse them without knowing the root of their problems. So don’t acuse anyone cause you don’t know what it will happen in the future to you, to your family, friends and especially to your children….
April 6th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
Ed Gein? Please. Just a guy with a few screws loose and a major Mother Complex. He’s not even considered a serial killer. But his dinnerwear creations were quite nice.
Most of the movies based(!) on him, were because it was the widespread sensationalized media attention the case recieved. There was no such thing as the internet then, and awesome top 10’s like this were hard to find.
April 9th, 2008 at 12:37 am
I think that this is the most awesome website. Not because im sick..lol, its just thinking like them and analysing them. Why would they do such a horrible thing to another human being? Something must have gone terribly wrong. I actually feel sorry for some of them, just to imagine what hell they have been through.
The rest of them deserve to suffer eternal pain in hell, because that is where they are. I know I cant throw the first stone, but OMG!!! some of the things they did were just plain terrible.
April 11th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
I for some reason can seem to feel for these people. These people who enjoy the thrill of the kill for I too, have experienced this. Anger is not always a motive, nor is the need for sexual gratification, as seems to be most of why these people do what it is that they do. I have never sexually assalted any of the people whom I killed over the years and no, I do not do what it is that I do, due to anger or frustration, or even due to some “stresser”. I do what I due for the reason of; that I simply enjoy killing people. I began when I was 17, with a hooker, who I looked upon as some gross, pathetic creature who was just begging to be released from her pathetic form of existence. I indulged her, but found out something else about what I had done. As I said earlier… I truely enjoyed it. Everything about the incident! I am 29 years old now, about to turn 30 and I have killed a lot of people. How many? It does not matter, for I do not view what I do as a competition for recognition or anything of the sort. I have killed many, and in many various fashions and most importantly, I have never been found out. I would not enjoy being discovered and ultimately, locked up, for I would never again enjoy the feeling of what I do. But I continue in my hobby, as others who enthusiastically collect coins or people who enjoy shopping. I cannot give up this illness (yes, I do however believe what I do is due to an illness), nor do I ever plan on it.
This is just a thought for you to chew on.
April 11th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
SecretKiller01 – Haha. Very funny.
April 16th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Thank you for your comment. Again though, you may take my above posting any way that you might like; be it true or false. My only purpose was to show that there are significant differences between those killers that are posted on this site, as opposed to those like myself.
Best wishes Julesrules.
April 16th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
Thank you for your comment Julesrules. I am happy to see that you had found a bit of humor in my above posting. I am glad to see that it put a smile upon your face. but again, as I have already stated, it matters not to me if you believe me or not. I mearly was trying to show that there are differences – true differences between those that are posted here and those like myself; though I am under the impression that I myself, am a rare breed of killer.
My thoughts are with you, Julesrules…
April 16th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
LOL, I see this site posted my first responce to you, even though it told me there was an error. Oh well. Such is the way of electronics. Nothing works as though it should anymore.
April 16th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
jfrater; can’t your site track ip’s? i don’t even think it’s all that funny. and I have a twisted sense of humour.
April 16th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Mom424: the site does track IPs yes.
April 16th, 2008 at 7:06 pm
secret killer you are either a veteran or completely full of shit! you are incredibly ballsy to admit that you really know the feeling of taking a human life. I for one think you are posturing. feel free to reply to my blathering!
April 17th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
If there’s truth to this, I’m fascinated.
April 17th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
i think some folks are missing the point of this site and misusing comments for their own twisted agenda. anything said recently on this list should be considered highly suspect. also, commenters can not edit or delete their own comments. so once written, unless removed by an admin…its here to stay. things are different online now. somethings maybe deemed as actionable, especially personal threats. so i think it best people remember where they are commenting and who is reading. this is a site for entertainment and educational purposes not for personal attacks.
April 17th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Julierules; Facinated? Creeped the fuck out is a much more apt description. What sort of twisted psyche would find this funny? or even worse……
April 17th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Mom424…remember, don’t feed the trollz.
hopefully they’ll slink back into the slime from whence they came.
April 17th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Facinated:[noun] the state of being intensely interested (as by awe or terror).
Mom424 – There’s a reason why you’re posting here so often. We find ourselves in the same boat by definition.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:06 am
I love reading everyone’s posts here.
Julierules, Thank you for the definition of Facinated. Apparently, Mom242 was not aware of its meaning.
Cyn, if in your above posting, you were referring to me… I promise you I was making no personal attacks, nor furthering my own agenda – what ever that may be or not be.
Mom242, I must agree with Julierules on this. You do post here and often. Somewhere deep down inside of you, you are drawn to people like me, or any of the others who are posted on here. Although you detest what you read, you cannot help yourself. You crave more; despite you not willing to admit it to yourself. Julierules said that she is fascinated and judging on the fact that my last posting that I made, which I do not see, I can only assume that it was taken off of here, which saddens me. So much for our freedom of speech, though I assure you that my last posting had neither vulgar language, nor personal threats or attacks anywhere within its body. So, as Cyn said, it must have been taken off by the admin. Why? I find absolutely no reason for the use of profanity or idle threats. People who have to utilize these are, well, pathetic. Name calling also, causes me to have to shake my head in shame too.
Also, Cyn, you say to not feed the trolls… Of whom are you referring to?
April 18th, 2008 at 10:13 am
One more final thought for the time being…
Of all of the vicious, depraved people who either have or currently do walk this planet still today… What is it about them that cause people like all of you, to create chat forums around their deeds. If you cannot understand (which most of you will never), why are you even here? If it creeps you the “F” out, why do you keep coming back?
I already know the answer to this, but apparently, most of you do not. You all have a hint of darkness within your souls – whether you choose to admit it or not, it is right there! Staring you point blank in the face. Making it so that you cannot just simply turn the other way.
April 18th, 2008 at 11:23 am
secretmelodramacreator
what does of any of that have to do w/ this list?
i suggest you get offline and get a real life.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
“secretmelodramacreator” lol
Well I do have to agree with one point in particular that he made – selective censuring of posts and posters, while it’s certainly your perogative as site owner and/or administrator to do so, cheapens the site, IMO.
Love the site btw…
April 19th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Cyn, perhaps if you actually read my posts and had just a hint of intellegence… You might see its relevance. Then again… Perhaps not in your case. I suggest you go back and actually read the posts from both myself, as well as from others and you would see that everyone’s posts go along with each other in response.
April 19th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Maggot
excellent choice in username btw. as for cheapening the site…veiled or outright threats against people in a comment section of an entertainment site do not belong here. people come here to be entertained or enlightened, not abused or threatened.
if that is the kind of site you want i suggest you ante up the money necessary to run such a site and have at it.
as for SecretKiller01..another excellent choice in username..sarcasm intended this time. i would recommend you exchange email addys w/ whoever falls for your sick schtick and carry on your innuendo laden conversations elsewhere.
April 20th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
I truly think the point of this sight has been crapped on. The forum is top10 serial killers, not I am a killer too. I believe if any of you self-proclaimed killers were faced with such a reality, a change of undergarments would be in store.
juierules fascinate; to attract intensely and irresistibly. 2, to hold motionless, spellbind. It is also a verb.
Next time you wish to impress someone with your knowledge of wordpower, check the dict.
April 21st, 2008 at 11:09 am
I did check the dictionary. And I forgot an S. Therefore, the world will crumble. Remember: The site is for entertainment purposes.
Entertainment – 1. the act of entertaining; agreeable occupation for the mind; diversion; amusement.
2. something affording pleasure, diversion, or amusement, esp. a performance of some kind.
3. hospitable provision for the needs and wants of guests.
4. a divertingly adventurous, comic, or picaresque novel.
5. Obsolete. maintenance in service.
April 21st, 2008 at 11:13 am
hockenberry – Wasn’t trying to impress, just trying to get the meaning across.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:04 pm
Secretkiller01 give me a reason to beleive that you killed so many people as you said….
April 21st, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Hockenberry,
You are right about what this forum was intended for. My original posting, was to just simply show a slight varience into the minds of people who commit such acts. It was never truely my intention on trying to drag this out as far as it has – though, I will admit it was slightly amusing to me.
As for Cyn… Last time…
I do not care, nor am interested in if you took my ORIGINAL posting as truth or not. As I already stated to Hockenberry above… Well, I am sure you know how to read.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:24 pm

jules
meant no ill will, it just puzzles me that someone would attempt to dog another user without doing some research.
I wish to throw my hat in the ring by saying I feel that serials killers and their works are truly the most interesting read going, a unique breed of predator that we as humans could never begin to fathom. As for the mindless bickering, every site I visit with a chat room or comment section eventually turns in to a dick-wagging contest. It’s a real turnoff so I do apologize to any I have offended!
April 24th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
A couple of months ago I went to an exhibition about serial killers and many of the ones listed above were there; Ted Bundy, Albert Fish, Andrei Chikaltilo, Jeffrey Dahmer and the notable mentioned John Wayne Gacy. All throughout the show they displayed amazing footage of these “men” (if we can call them that) including scenes from Chikatilo’s controversial trial.
I must say there are loads of serial killers (unfortunatelly) which could be added to the list (or form a second one):
*Leonard Lake & Charles Ng
*Ed Gein
*Charles Cullen
*The Zodiac Killer
*Pedro Rodrigues Filho
*Luis Garavito
*Jack the Ripper (is a must)
*Henry Lee Lucas (confessed up to 3,000 murders!)
*Carl Eugene “Coral” Watts
*Gerald Eugene Stano
*Michael Swango
Some women perhaps (oh, yes… we can be evil as well):
*Amy Archer-Gilligan
*Kristen Gilbert
*Nannie Doss
*Rhonda Belle Martin
*Marybeth Tinning
I could go on and on (as I said before, unfortunatelly there are too many)
And if I repeated any, I’m terribly sorry, I don’t have time to read all your comments, people…
Oh, and for the person who mentioned the “Iceman” in a comment back in January, his name was Richard “Iceman” Kuklinski, he worked mainly for several Italian-American crime families (mostly the Gambino Family) and he had a brother (Joseph M. Kuklinski) who was a convict charged for raping and killing a 12 year old girl… what a family!!!
April 24th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
Sorry, it was December, not January… hehe
April 24th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
killer intruder, homicidal man
April 24th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
killer intuder homicidal man
if you see me coming run fast as you can
blood thirsty demon stalking the street
I hack up my victims like pieces of meat
blood thirsty demon sinister fiend
bludgeonous slaughter my evil deeds
my hammer’s a cold piece of blood lethal steel
I grin while you writhe with the pain that I deal
swinging the hammer I hack through their heads
defiant defilers next to be dead
I unleash my hammer with sadistic intent
pounding surrounding slammin through your head
the bodies convulse in agony and pain
I mangle the face till no features remain
a blade for the butchering I cut them to shreds
first take out the organs then cut off the head
the remains of their flesh now sop under my feet
one more bloody massacre the murders complete
I seek to dismember a sadist fiend
bloodbaths are my way of gettin clean
this is a song by Megadeath that is the perfect serial killer theme song. I hope you enjoy the message it conveys!
April 24th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
this may not be verbatum but it was the best I could do on short notice
April 24th, 2008 at 7:09 pm

April 26th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Serial killer Carl Panzram would have made these guys his bitch!
April 27th, 2008 at 7:03 pm

April 29th, 2008 at 9:32 am
this is a great website very helpful in my criminal justice class
May 1st, 2008 at 5:33 pm
just checked it out. interesting, disturbing stuff. i thought that richard kuklinski would have been on the list though. sure the men on this site were out of there mind but they all kept to some sort of pattern with there killings thats why i thought richard would of been on it. something different.
May 3rd, 2008 at 5:26 am

May 6th, 2008 at 5:19 am
How about a list of serial killers that are not evil
May 6th, 2008 at 5:21 am
kevin: funny guy
May 12th, 2008 at 11:57 am
All I know is that Ted Bundy’s judge sounds like the greatest man in history.
May 13th, 2008 at 3:22 am
I think Jack Kevorkian should be included in this list. He claims to have assisted more than 130 people to their deaths just because he thought their Lives were not living anymore. I know that many people consider Euthanasia as mercy killing, literally, but i believe that no one has the right to take his life..
May 19th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Does anyone know when The trial of Robert Ben Rhoades is gonna be.Hope it’s telecasted on TTV.
May 25th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
some things on this website absoulty horrify me…i think all the murders should be shot !!!
May 26th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
lol…
I find it pretty funny how people can do these things. its pretty funny that people are so fucked up lol
May 28th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Oh god. These are really disturbing, especially the first picture of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victim.
I don’t know if all of them can be called evil, though.
May 29th, 2008 at 7:55 am
im mostly facinated by jeffrey dahmer
May 29th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
well to each his own but read the book about Robert Ben Rhoades (Roadside Prey) and been hooked on knowing more about him especially when they can get him for MORE murders.I know he’s Up for more.I just hope it’s on Trutv so I can watch him squirm.Anyone one out there who knows about him ?
June 15th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
My cousin’s nanny was at a party or a concert once and got a little drunk. Someone came up to her and offered some food and she knew him from the high school. She declined and calmly walked away. Later that night, he killed someone. His name; Ted Bundy. This is just an example of how Bundy used his charm to get what he wanted. By the way, I found it interesting how you ranked people not on body count, but on pure lack of cruelty.
June 17th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
..how could humans do this..
June 19th, 2008 at 7:00 am
i am sorry to state to my Pakistanis, are u still proud to have your own state, i m sorry if u are disappointed but i think our minds are jammed or freezed or we have been so senseless. This is one dark picture shown to ourselves,
How many like Javed Iqbal would be growing day by day!
i will request to international chapps dont rely on police or other helping forces, if it is time to take the law in your own hand you must do it for the sake of your own and your love ones..
June 24th, 2008 at 11:47 am
What is the Second Coming?
June 24th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
No one cares
No one listens
Screaming words that you fake hearing
June 25th, 2008 at 5:42 am
Why the hell would someone lay with rotting corpses and have sex with them??? WTF is going through their head at that point?
July 10th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Please remember…these people are ILL. Nobody with a healthy psyche could gain pleasure from violence. Unfortunatly some of us are cursed with deranged and intrusive thoughts. May God bless us and keep us. My heart and best wishes to ALL the family and friends involved on both sides of the spectrum.
July 10th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
These people aren’t “ILL” they are DEMONIC. I hate that our society gives the benefit to the doubt of the most messed up people and say they have a ‘disease’. DO YOU REALLY THINK THESE PEOPLE COULD GET HELP??
Oh and I really feel sorry for these people with their “illness” because their “illness” made them go and rape and torture and sodomize a 3 year old little girl for hours on end and then bury her alive with her teddy bear. Give me an effin break!
Some of the most notorious serial killers were known to be extremely intelligent. They CHOSE to do this sh*t, therefore they made a CHOICE – and that makes them responsible – not some “disease”.
THEY did it. THEY enjoyed it. THEY are responsible. And THEY should have their balls ripped off and stuffed down their throats and locked in a box where meal worms eat off of them for 10 years straight.
They should be ‘forgiven’ – they should suffer 100 times more than what they did to their victims!
July 10th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
I”m sorry let me correct that they SHOULDN’t be forgiven.
July 11th, 2008 at 12:38 am
ha ha ha.easy there heather;).
July 11th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Jeffrey Dahmer When his things from his apartment were put up for auction, the pots and pans used to cook his victims went for big money. They were the most “popular” items. That to me is sicker and grosser. Why would someone want these things, much less pay big money for them?
July 12th, 2008 at 12:56 am
thats FUCKED UP!! >.
July 13th, 2008 at 8:47 am
this site is cool.it’ll be nice 2 av more sites lyk this
July 14th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
ugh…that albert fish guy is freaky…sometimes i wonder how these people’s minds work.
and where the heck is robert pickton?!? im sure killing, raping, dismembering, and feeding human remains to pigs is considered evil.
July 15th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Intelligence has NOTHING to do with mental stability, Heather, trust me. Quite the contrary-there’s a very fine line between genius and insanity, as everyone knows.
I’m an A student, but there have been times when I’ve wanted to set off bombs, shoot up the school, or just plain cut someone’s head off. Haven’t you?
July 27th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Carl Eugene Watts, confessed black serial killer to more than 100 victims. He didn’t rape them but would run up behind them and stab or strangle or hang them as they tried to enter their homes. He also broke into homes and stabbed, strangled or drowned his victims. Of his last surviving victims, (he often did two or more a day) one, pretended to be unconscious while he drowned the other in the tub and saw him jump and clap his hands together while squealing in delight! He said he killed them because they had “Evil eyes”. He had to kill the spirit. All but one of his victims were white. At 15, as a newspaper boy, he punched out a female customer just because he wanted to beat somebody up. He said it felt good to beat up women.
July 31st, 2008 at 2:42 am
Love your site!! The photo’s are shocking, man! There are some sick puppies out there.
August 7th, 2008 at 9:38 am
Sure you have killed people SecretKiller01 I bet you have just finished reading the “ICEMAN” a story about Richard Kuklinski it sounds like you have borrowed a few lines of text to say the least. Anyone that was a killer would not be posting on the net as it is to easy to track the ip/domain/ISP hence your identity, oh wait there should be someone knock on your door any minute make sure they don’t bust in on you beating off over your own reflection.
August 8th, 2008 at 1:26 am
Insane stuff here.
I actually live in Hutchinson, KS, which is about 37 miles northeast of Wichita. I never met Rader, but I read something in the papers once about something he’d done for his church. Insane how a person could keep something like that going for so long.
August 10th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Monster of the Andes should be here, Bueno and Bianchi the Hillside Stranglers, Richard Ramirez, Henry Lee Lucas and Otis Toole, the Green River Killer,John Wayne Gacy, Richard Speck, Clifford Olson and Robert Picton deserve at least honorable mentions (Canada doesnt turn out alot of serial killers so 2 from the same province is definitely notworty for us canadians). I could go on and on.
August 10th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
jack kevorkian rules people should have the choice if they want to die without suffering, if you want him on the list you might as well add henry morgantaler (Polish abortionist that started the first abortion clinic in canada).
August 10th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
zodiac, jack the ripper, all the ones mentioned above that were “missed” i don’t think its possible to make a perfect 10 evil killers, i for one would not include albert fish although i understand why you did. albert only knowingly killed grace budd the others while he admitted to it there was no proof he wasnt jut claiming it, he’s more serial molester and depraved individual than anything but thats just my opinion. I’d include Richard Ramirez or the Zodiac instead. Zodiac and his incredible taunts to the police, no one taunted the police the way he and jack the ripper did
August 19th, 2008 at 7:04 pm
wow man i was like so scared reading all those very stary comments..it made me want to kil too…..nawwwwwwt
:D:D:D hahahaha
no man this shit is wackkkkk

August 26th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
you people all seem to have very different views on serial killers, i have been fascinated by trying to understand the minds of these men and women (yes i said women, who you all seem to have forgotten are there)
some have said things about having killed people yourselves? why would you publish this, oddly it seems to get others excited thinking they might actually be talking to a ledgend when you are probably a balding middle aged man looking for some attention because it has been a while since you have satisfied your foot fettish so murder bragging seems like a good way to get your kicks.
*quick note to tazziemarie you said “i certainly hope more men like dahmer and bundy should be around.
it has been a very very long time since the world has seen such fine art of life being lived on.
thank you for the story that has made my life really great*
if you think there should be many more high proflie killers out there you could always offer yourself out to them on a random website as i hear that occasionally pans out. good luck with that.
murder should not be seen as a good thing it is not an art, yes there is alot of thought and precision that goes into alot of the killings in some of the cases such as jack the ripper, ‘BTK’ etc. and thanks to their case of ocd it has helped police find a way of usually catching them but i don’t see any of these murders as a good thing, how can they be???
and note to
August 27th, 2008 at 3:50 pm
omg .. i have never read about serial killers .. and reading this has sent chills up my spine knowin that there are people like this in the world. i am terrified now .. especially for my daughter!!!
August 27th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
tazzie2mazzie 175 .. you are sicky
August 27th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
and heather i fully agree with you
August 28th, 2008 at 11:54 am
I’m a little disappointed. Some of my favorites didn’t make the list. Like Richard “The Nightstalker” Ramirez.
August 28th, 2008 at 11:57 am
Also, it seems to be really evil you have to fit one of two criteria: a) being a pedophile and b) necrophilia/cannibalism.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
honkenberry, while back you show’d interest in Robert Ben Rhoades ,are you still interested and if so would you like to share anything you know about him as there is alot I do that isnt well known. I read you had a close encounter with him as I have when he was suposibly actting human .
September 10th, 2008 at 1:49 am
i never new there is people in the world like this, they have no sympathy watsoeva
September 12th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Wonderful site, very educational. Was wondering where you would place Larry Eyler. 21 young boys’ lifes were tourtured and just placed in feilds. Within 6 months of being released he killed agian. The fact that he knew police were watching and he did it again must make him a truly sick man. RIP to those who were never identifed
September 12th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
I hate the look on Albert Fish’s face. I wish I could hit him in the face with a chair, but of course, he would enjoy that.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:41 am
I liked reading the list, I have read several lists like this in the past and they all vary greatly. Funny thing, I actually live in Sacramento but don’t remember anything about Mr. Chase, however I have met Daisy Fuentes and Ed Kemper. Kemper behind bars and Ms. Fuentes years ago, whe I was 18. I was a vacuum sales person and I went to her house to demo a model. She isn’t very prolific or particularly interesting, so no real relevance to this topic but I thought I would mention it. Its strange to think that any one of us could have met at any time a serial/mass murderer and wouldn’t even recoginize it. Most of them blend in very well and unless you are practiced at observing abnormal behaviour you wuld never know.
September 19th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
“Top Ten Evil Serial Killers ?” Pardon…but are there any other kind ?
September 22nd, 2008 at 6:26 pm
lots of good info although there are people that i would replace as a top ten of serial killers
September 23rd, 2008 at 3:56 pm
wow i have read all the comments and i am truly satisfied with the arguments that have been goin on. there r sick people out there and not too many people know it. we all think that we will live our lives without any horror like that. i know i use to…well before i got interested in crime! bad things can happen to good people…so you should always be careful. kids always think that there parents are mean becus they wont let them go to parties without supervision….and they hate how they are picky about your gf/bf…but they’re doin that to protect u from killers like that!
September 23rd, 2008 at 4:00 pm
serial killers are bad…but they help us. they help us to be more careful about where we go…we should really always have a sum1 with us so it will help a little. i agree that the green river killer should be on here..he put rocks in prostitutes vaginas for goodness sake! another person i think she be on here is charles manson..a really creepy guy! i am suprised no one has mentioned him!
September 23rd, 2008 at 4:09 pm
a lot of people think of serial killers as all bad…and i agree that the things they have done for pleasure are very bad but not all can control their thirst for blood. An example is William Heirens..he wrote on a victims wall in blood
”For heavens sake….capture me…befor i kill more….i cannot control myself..”
as u can see sum want to stop…they just can’t control themselves as much ast they would like….the thirst for blood may never be quenched for them….its how they were raised up or how they were enfluenced…they want to be saved…even ted bundy said he feels horrible for the things he has done….he said that
” i am sorry for what i have done…i am not asking people to forgive me….or the victims families….for what i have done is sumthing i know it would be hard to forgive…”
but the truth is…there is a lot of different sides of serial killers…sum evil…sum uncontrolable…..and sum just plain scared…there is also sum that do this for revenge of the ones who did them wrong…so many sides
September 24th, 2008 at 9:49 am
I know I must seem like a broken record, but has anyone heard anything more about Robert Ben Rhoades ?? I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who is also interested in Him
September 24th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
love the site love what thay do to each other in it good
September 24th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
i have never heard of him
September 24th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
has anyone even read my comments above?!?!
September 24th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
pinny: what do u mean love what they dot to each other?!
September 24th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
lol i am talking to myself! i couldnt finish my second comment very well becus i was doing sumthing else at the time!lol…it makes no sense..(my second comment)
September 25th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
i disagree with you hottie102 .. these killers choose to do wut they wanna do. even though they feel bad on wut they do .. they chose to do the crimes theyve commited.
September 26th, 2008 at 7:22 am
KiMi3cak3z: i never said they dont choose what they do…becus they choose to do these things…but what i am trying to say is…is that sum of these were influenced by physiological diseases…some were abused when they were younger…and sum were just…into the wrong things…there is a lot of different reasons why they do the things they do…
September 26th, 2008 at 11:33 am
Hottie102: a lot of ppl grow up in situations the same way some of these killers have. Take the author of the book a child called it .. Wut he went thro wit his mother. All the beatin the starvin all of it. And its a tru story. You don’t see him goin on a killin spree. So I can say that the killers who are legally insane do have the obligation of callin themselves sick .. But other than that .. Other killers deserve to the fullest every horrible punishment imagined.
September 26th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
kimi3cak3z:
well thats true they do deserve the punishment…what i was saying was that…they were infuenced wrong…i am not saying that all the people in the world that was abused will end up being a serial killer…cus thats not true…but a true fact is that scientists say that most serial killers were into porn…well very sexually bad porn…even ted bundy said that he was interested in bad porn…so ya..
ANYWAY… thanks for responding to my comments i didnt think anyone would! lol
September 26th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
hey kimi….whats up…? i am sooooo bored right now!
September 26th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
lol i am talking to myself!
September 26th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Hehe im bored too don’t worry im there wit cha.
September 27th, 2008 at 6:46 am
Your list makes me ANGRY, VERY, VERY ANGRY!!!
Harold Shipman helped around 400 people gently pass away into the after life but he is not in this list, where is his just reward?
As the good doctor said, you are WASTING MY VALUABLE TIME, you must die now.
September 28th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
kimi3cak3z: hey do u have a myspace….cus i do….or do u have a yahoo…cus i do, maybe we could add each other…i get bored a lot and i get on the comp. to talk but no one is ever on….u dont have to add me though! lol..anyways, there is alot of different views of serial killers….and…OH WELL….i dont feel like talking about them right now! lol
September 28th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
Hottie102: Haha .. Yea I do .. My myspace name is
.F3ar M3.
Just send a request and add me aite
September 28th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
hey my name is siera and if u get a request wit my name…well…thats me! lol

what about the killers from Snowtown or Ivan Milat? Also I have heard about a former soldier turned serial killer from China that lived in Thailand after wwii and ate childrens internal organs. I am unaware of his body count.
September 30th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Vera lynn: i was working on computer homework! and thanks but i dont need help. what grade are u in?
October 1st, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Hottie or anyone else ,sorry I’ve been away .If your interested in Robert Ben Rhoades look up the book about him “Roadside Prey by Alva Busch”.It’s a really intense book .And all I got to say is Thank God he was caught. He told the girl he was caught with that he’d been at it 15 years.I know alot about him from researching him.But Mostly he was Pure Evil.Even if at times he and other serial killers “looked” sane and a trusting person ,remember that’s how they got their victims to go with them.
October 4th, 2008 at 10:50 am
I have got to admit, I am very surprised not to have seen Ed Gein on this list, considering the extent of his crimes.
Something else i would have been very interested in reading about on these serial killers would have been their profiles. Its one thing to state their crimes, but the fascinating part of a serial killer, is what led them to behave in the way they did, what brought them to that point. Their pasts and upbringing etc, generally contribute greatly to the crimes they commit.
October 4th, 2008 at 11:15 am
another serial killer that comes to mind is Nielsen. I was about 13 years old when he was convicted of his crimes, and he was THE first memory i have of awakening within me, a passion to become a criminal profiler, because as young as i was, my need to research the reasoning behind the killings was immense. The crimes repulsed me, but the depths of the human mind intrigued me.
October 17th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
HOLY FUCK
October 18th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Hehe… Bundy was executed on my 18th birthday.
In China, Yang Xinhai confessed to killing 65 people. That’s a shitload. He’d kill them by axing, hammering and shoveling them, and would kill entire families. On October 2002, Yang killed a father and a six-year-old girl with a shovel and raped a pregnant woman, who survived the attack with serious head injuries [from Wikipedia]. Terrible.
Moses Sithole, South Africa’s Ted Bundy. He’d pretend to be a businessman and lure women to a faraway field where no one would hear or suspect anything, then bludgeon them and rape them before killing them. He killed 38 and also raped 40 others.
Don’t forget Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer. 48 women killed in the Seattle/Tacoma, Washington USA area. He’d use a photograph of his son sometimes to put his victims at ease. His methods were killing by strangulation, then posing their bodies and tossing gum, smokes and notes from other people to throw off the cops.
Can’t forget Dr. Harold Shipman, Alexander Pichushkin, Ahmad Suradji, Robert C. Hansen, or Donald Harvey aka “Angel of Death” to name a few that have been missed, too.
It’s sad and horrifying that you could actually make a Top 100 list on this one.
October 21st, 2008 at 10:24 pm
imabeeper; I too am interested in finding out more about Robert Ben Rhoades. Read Roadside Prey, and I strongly agree that he looked and acted harmless enough. I spoke with him at length in Ft. Branch IN. he came across like any other truck driver I ever met, but something about him gave me the creeps. I am a student of human nature, I am adept at noticing the subtleties of a persons character and this guy pulsated an enigmatic vibration that made my neck hair stand on end. I was not shocked to find that he was a killer. I don’t know if his trial has begun, if you know anything please reply. My gut feeling is that he will probably die in prison before we know the whole truth.

It is not hard to see how easy it was for Rhoades to lure his victims. In every truck stop there are plenty of “lot lizards” who are eager to accomidate drivers for if nothing else a ride to their next destination. I am appalled at this, young women and men willing to do inexplicable acts (throwing caution to the wind) in order to run from whatever demons are chasing them. Most are drug addicts, runaways or just plain degenerates looking for the next big score. I never let anyone in my cab because of an apprehensive nature that has held me steadfast in my convictions. These people who took their last ride with RBR were not totally unaware of the dangers lurking on the road. they met a horrible and undeserving fate at the hands of a true monster incarnate. The fine thread of human sanity is a tightrope walked by predators who take advantage and cater to the weakness of the less fortunate. Images of the horrors these killers perpetrate are glamourized by hollywood and society in general, I am not a fan of this ideology, I merely strive to understand and reckon the impetus.

hottie…..
u must be sum1 who really understands the world.
and i feel good that i have u around.
i aM not a rapist or a serial killer yet i feel for them.
i know what they did was wrong and bad and all that, but who is to know what is playing in their minds right.
in my earlier msg i was mocked for saying what i said….
but yes, i am happy that they were made doing what they did..
while we talk of serial killers and mock them all…
if i ought to choose…i’d choose them than to pick one adolf hitler…..
to many hitler is a legend…
he is a legend to me too…in my ass…!!!!!
so while we say all the things we say, lets just try to understand them rather than say the world would be better without em’….
and my respect to you hottie…. is greater than ever..
cheers…..

Psychopathy is a recognised construct of a mental illness [psychopathic personality disorder] and is defined by gratification from deviant behaviour (and aggressive narcissism – i.e, the lack of feeling empathy, and the grandiosity many killers such as Harold Shipman experience at being able to control a persons life.)
It’s debatable what ‘evil’ is, but for those of you who are in denial that people such as those on this list aren’t mentally ill – you have no real grounds for that, other than using a completely ambigious and unexplainable term in order to explain something that seems so far-removed from what we, stable people could understand.
October 30th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
maybesteve Excellent point! I have always felt that it is unfair to catergorize a persons motives. Individuals act on their own accord, and I believe that science feels the need for classification if nothing else but to give itself basis and justification. In reality people do these things and may not know why, there are so many variables to be factored in (upbringing, abusive parents, rejection, self-loathing) to name only a few. In conclusion I believe these killers are in a class that society cannot catergorize.
November 3rd, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Hi.Can i mention a few too.How about Peter Sutcliffe the Yorkshire Ripper, cant remember his first name but his last name was Christie, killed his wife Ethel, Omaima Nelson, Judy Buenoano,Aileen wuornos and another im not sure about is Amelia Dyer and Mary Ann Cotton.Yuck sick people in this world but am i sick in thinking that id like to do to them what they did to their victims? Am i sick or not??
November 3rd, 2008 at 5:33 pm
And also would Micheal Ryan be defined as a serial killer too?
November 3rd, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Even though he only ordered the murders, one of the sickest ever i think (poor pregnant Sharon Tate) does Charles Manson count as a serial killer? I mean come on he has to be one of the worst ever.
And also would you count Adolf Hitler as one too?
November 4th, 2008 at 5:40 am
Charles Manson was guilty of conspiracy to murder.
Spree Murders and Mass Murderers are normally separate from Serial Killers – A spree murder is where there is sort of a “rampage”, in a short space of time over multiple locations a number of people are killed, like Virginia Tech. Michael Ryan would fall under this category.
A mass murderer, tends to be those who commit genocide or are guilty of killing a large number of people in one location – Like Terrorists. “Organised” Serial Killers at least tend to stake out and pick a specific type of victim, stalking them or observing them before the actual event. Mass murder is a lot more indiscriminate.
November 4th, 2008 at 5:49 am
You’re right hockenberry. It is interesting to try and understand the motives and psychology of these people but at the end of the day it is a complete unknown. We have to accept mainly that it’s a variety of factors, and its not as cut and dry as we’d like it to be!
It’d be satisfying to be able to say “If you have a traumatic childhood you will grow up to be a sociopath” but unfortunately it doesn’t work like that
November 5th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Wow. And the sad thing about this is that these are ONLY 10 of the notorious hundreds.
November 7th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
i think charles manson should be up there
November 8th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Hokenberry, like I said before I have read “Roadside Prey”I like you think he’ll will die in prison due to God’s hand or the people.I know many would want him to have the death penalty but I can’t help but think of all the other victim’s people who finally find out who killed their loved one,If it was me id rather spit on him then on a DNA sample.I’ve heard they are thinking about a movie ,probally after his next trial.I just hope who ever they get to play him is someone I don’t like as a actor, because it would be hard to look at that actor in the same way as before.BTW WE used to call RBR -B.B =Bobby Ben.
November 10th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
imabeeper, RBRs trial is due to begin once all the legal delays and b.s. wraps up. It will be interesting to see if his lawyers will allow him to testify. There are rumors floating around that the lead detectives are combing through data from his truck log to try and match him with unsolved crimes along his routes and in the general area he travelled. I am hoping for positive results, in a timely fashion, so perhaps some closure can be brought to the victims families. I will try to keep you up on the latest.
November 10th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
maybesteve, man you definately are up on your psyche. I almost get the impression that you are in the field in some capacity. I have been a student of human nature, just not a very good student in general, wish I would have applied myself more in my youth. I can’t argue with you one iota on any of your points, you have ressurected my interest in the profiling aspect. Most profilers have their own preconceived notions on criminal behavior and its nice to find a like-minded individual who thinks outside the box. I appreciate your feedback and hope to read more of your input in the future. May the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house!
November 14th, 2008 at 12:53 pm

I too, enjoy reading and watching infon serial killers. I am facinated or should intrigued by the minds of them. I would like the opportunity to study why they do what they do……..I must add that Fish and Gacy are by far the craziest!!!!
November 22nd, 2008 at 11:31 pm
3 of my top 5 most interesting serial killers are up there.
Very exciting
November 26th, 2008 at 6:31 am
wat abt the most notorious of serial killers?Jack The Ripper?!!why the hell isnt he here.his dcrimes are more gruesome and brutal than any of these and he too used to mutilate his victims and keep some of their organs and also engaged in cannibalism.
November 26th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Aw thanks for your awesome comment hockenberry! I’m just interested, that’s all
It’s such a fascinating subject, with so much to be learned.. and so much we’ll probably never learn. I hope you enjoy your rekindled interest in the subject!
MCR: There is no proof that Jack the Ripper engaged in cannablism. And it’s pretty hard to determine ‘notorious’, or even rank on a list, as by most peoples standards anyone who kills anyone might be just a little over the line of decency. But objectively speaking, Jack the Ripper killed probably about 5 people, Did not engage in any sexual acts with the victims, and didn’t horrifically mutilate all his victims (and post-mortem mutilation is a common trait of serial killers, anyway.) I think his notoriety came from the historic values and ambiguity of the case rather than the nature of the crimes. Sadly, his crimes were not that shocking if you are aware of other cases.
November 27th, 2008 at 2:42 am
BTK in the top 10?
Ok then….Wheres Rose west, Richard Ramirez and Gacy?
I am fascinated with Jeff Dahmer!
December 1st, 2008 at 4:02 am
Cool website, not so sure about some of the comments but still enjoyd reading them.Nice 2 know Im not the only 1 who thinks the way I do,(THANK GOD,I was starting 2 worry!!)
December 1st, 2008 at 10:53 am
i agree with mcr that jack the ripper should be up there but i like the fact that Jeffrey Dahmer, and ted bundy should be there but if u like things like this you should read thte book “the stories of the most evil murderer’s(serial kilers) by brian innes its the lives and crimes of 50 depraved killers that shocked the world well let me know what u think
December 1st, 2008 at 5:22 pm
This sort of thing is getting to be an american tradition. Maby we could have a tv show and call it….I don’t know, “Americas funniest serial killers” or something.
December 2nd, 2008 at 3:42 pm
I found it terryfying to know that their were so many grusome serial killers, I knew and heard of a few but some were disgusting very disturbing that a person can do that to some one else..
December 2nd, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Although there is nothing we can do to prevent these “sick” people from being alive or having sick thoughts and executing any thoughts and torturous ideas we have. We can think of our family and realize that most of these men and women look normal, they cld be standing right next to you in the grocery store for god sake. It is our duty as humans to have our deffense up, too many people let it down prematurly. And as far as these people go, someone somewhere thought hmmm maybe my uncle, neighbor, dad, son, nephew, coworker etc is a little weird. Your initial thought is your heart thought go with it, tell someone. The worst that could happen is your wrong and you get to keep your head attatched or your child alive until the next sick- o comes along.
December 5th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
WTF fools I’m glad all these people are dead otherwise I probably wouldn’t be sleeping tonight at all….the BTK killer scares me the most because he wasn’t caught until 2005. I remember when all this was going down…I wasn’t scared at that point, but now I think I should’ve been knowing what all he did….What about that one guy that was born in 1870, did they even do the whole needles things back then????? GROSS!!!! Me and my friends were sitting in study hall reading all these, and then we saw the pictures and almost THREW UP!!!!!!
December 7th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
While i have some disappointments i do find some delight in this page.I know what I’ve read and sincerely believe it will haunt my soul as well as encourage my heart. There is a known secrete,”where the Devil lies in Peril, the Soul shall perish!” “By order of the Supreme Court of the United States of America…You will be sentenced to death by Electrocution it shall be passed through you’re body twice until you are dead!!!!!!”May God have Mercy on your soul,LYSYB”(love ya see ya bye)
December 10th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
I think Ed Gein was the Martha Stewart of serial killers.
December 18th, 2008 at 10:43 am
Luis Garavito!! Columbian bloke admitted to 142 but they found 300 bodies in total! There’s so many people who should be on this list…There’s this japanese cannibal whose name I’ve forgotten but he ate something like 600 odd people in the 90s and was executed in 2003 i think…And there’s this other American guy who was raised by occultists as the anti Christ. They taught him he was the devil and many people argue that he is the evillest man in history, he tortured and killed lots of people and was rewarded by his family and friends. I can’t remember the name, though. Damn it I used to know all of this, anyway, this list has been mainly compiled on noteriety as opposed to true evil
December 22nd, 2008 at 6:49 pm
i’d suggest you put edward gein as well..
December 29th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
paul ridgeway [green river killer] should be on this list.
January 2nd, 2009 at 11:11 pm
Gary Ridgway. Not Paul.
January 8th, 2009 at 4:26 am
These list are great, compliments to those who take their time to forward their knowledge and time to us
With regards to serial killer it would be interesting studying their minds. I think the majority of cases all boil down to horrible experiences in childhood, for instance as far as i read, andrei chikilato used to wet his bed at night and his mother used to make fun of him..
However, whatever the mental illnesses or situations, i still think they should be executed for what they do!! If someone did that my children i would pay someone to kill them in the same way
January 8th, 2009 at 5:38 am
Is it just me or doesn’t it seems like there are a lot more American serial kilelrs than other nationalities? I know there are also a lot in England, so is the Anglo-American culture just more screwed up? There doesn’t seems to be as many serial killers in countries like Germany, Italy, Sweden ect…. just a little weird…
January 13th, 2009 at 12:54 am
well just to name 1 people that come to mind when i think of death
Hitler with a total still unknown but we are talk 100,000’s if not more and before u say it was war he signed every order before anyone was killer in the gas chambers
January 13th, 2009 at 1:31 am
sambojag: Hitler is on our evil men list. He is a mass murderer rather than a serial killer.
January 14th, 2009 at 2:49 am
Sambjojag, you are totally wrong about Hitler. That whole period in history is marked by the inability of historians to fully understand the nature of Hitler’s involvement with the Final Solution. The debate about whether he ordered it all, delegated responsibility to his underlings or was ignorant to the exact nature of the atrocities is on-going and therefore, unlikely to ever be known.
January 14th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
Your right Maybesteve just because someone had been abused in their past doesn’t mean they’ll turn out a Phycopath(spelling sux).I’m not sure what all B.B. went thru as a child although His Father abused other kids( his nephews and nieces) who’s to say he and his bro’s and sister weren’t abused to, never was admitted ,Maybe his mother Knew what was Happening and didn’t stop it. but like you said being abused doen’t make you become a sociopath.I should know as his sister’s and brother’s are normal, sane what ever that is .
January 16th, 2009 at 11:29 am
these people truly need to burn in hell and by the will of god they are right now.
January 17th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
the sad part bout these freaks is that they all ended up sorry for what they did…..everyone of them.
January 18th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
have fun looking Leslie.. cause you arent going to find ANYONE who is okay after the things these people have been through. or ANYONE who has been through that shit. before you talk … take a walk in their shoes. people never fully recover from things like this.
January 18th, 2009 at 9:43 pm
this list creeps me out..
either the comments are just outright weird or people use this as a message board (its for comments on website not to exchange personal messages, ever hear of email? geesh)..really cryptic stuff that creeps me out even further. *shudder*
how about we stick to the topic at hand, its creepy enough as is w/out posting secret messages to each other.
January 18th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
January 24th, 2009 at 7:49 am
No appeals. No 4-6 million on average now spent in this country for anyone given the death sentence with court battles delaying the serve of sentence on an average of 18 years. No bullshit two, three or twenty consecutive life sentences (what a joke!). Kill the creature right on the spot. Then toss the carcass out on an Air Force practice bomb range and blast the turd’s remains to burnt ashes……
January 26th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
The Judge in the Ted Bundy case…….did he actually say that?
“Take care of yourself, young man. I would have loved to have you practice in front of me partner. I don’t feel any animosity toward you.”
Just to clarify, he had brutally killed several young women, commited atrocious acts on their bodies afterwards and never showed any remorse. The judge, the highest ranking person in the courthouse is saying in front of grieving family members that it is a real shame what happened to the murderer?!?!
Does anyone else think that kind of behaviour by the Judge is a little inappropriste in the circumstances?
Translate to me as “Yeah you killed all them nice little girls, but the real tragedy here is that you could have become a sucessful lawyer and rose high up – just like me.“
Am I alone here thinking this is a ridiculous thing to say?
January 27th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
Why isn’t John Wayne Gacy, Jr up there?
I got fascinated by him after hearing Surfjan Stevens song about him. It truely is a beautiful song about a horrendous serial killer. I advise you should all take a listen.
January 30th, 2009 at 10:53 pm
Murder is lonely but life can adjust adapt improvise overcome and vote to re-legalize marijuana.
February 9th, 2009 at 12:29 am
I have just gone through the list and your posts and I couldn’t find anything mentioned about the “Green River” killer in Seatle. Recently, I have read some materials about the case and I think it would perfectly fit into the list.
February 18th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
these arent worst.. these r worst in america.. cos most killed serial killer have killed about 600 – 1000 persons and that happend in UK..
February 19th, 2009 at 10:28 am
I might have to disagree with you. These cases have oficially been considered as the worst (or let’s say some of the worst, to the least). Most serial killers killed 600-1000 people?! Come on, reconsider your statement. It sounds preposterous.
February 19th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Anyone see the show( FBI) about Robert Ben Rhoades looks like they maybe getting close to the court case if they are starting to refresh our memories about the sicko.
February 19th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
Its been months since i have been on this website and i agree with moth of you, and i really like the comment by tazzie2mazzie..thank you.
February 19th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
haha. i meant to say most not moth
February 20th, 2009 at 8:52 pm
I know everyone keeps adding people that were missed, but seriously, there are scores of serial killers, and it is just a top 10 list. I’ve seen several prime choices for “Despicable Mentions”: Gacy, Bathory, Gein, Jack. Son of Sam is missing, though…
But it surprises me that no one mentioned adding David Parker Ray to the list. I mean, an estimated 60 killings over a span of 50 years operating out of a mobile home (in a trailer park) with a $100,000 torture chamber basement, with the help of an apprentice, girlfriend, and daughter. And almost all the girls were taped being tortured: I read somewhere that a female investigator assigned to watch the tapes went home and killed herself.
*Shudders* and to think I swam in the lake he dumped some of his victims…… not that I knew at the time, but still….
February 21st, 2009 at 5:19 am
. Bundy also confessed to visiting his victims’ bodies over and over again at the Taylor Mountain body dump site. He stated that he would lie with them for hours, applying makeup to their corpses and having sex with their decomposing bodies until putrefaction forced him to abandon the remains. HOW SICK CAN THAT BE
February 26th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
I’m not sure if jack the ripper counts, so I will just say this, WHAT ABOUT THE GREEN RIVER KILLER? He has the largest amount of killings of any serial killer, and he almost got away with it!
February 27th, 2009 at 8:59 am
The Green river killer killed perhaps only 90 people, Gilles the Rais killed probably hundreds, Harold Shipman may have killed hundreds, Luis Garavito, etc.
But one of the most murderous serial killers there was is a little old english lady called Amelia Dyer.
According to historians she killed at least (!) 400 babies (!).
March 4th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
I really like this list!! thanks for creating and sharing with us!
These people, and any other person that has killed somebody are seriously sick. I dont necessarily mean with a mental illess, or some disesase, just in general. if that makes sense…
I read through every comment in study hall, and there were quite a few people that stated that everyone that has done things like this should recieve the death penalty. that our tax dollars are paying for them to live in jail. I disagree. it takes a long time and is MUCH more expensive to sentence a person to the death penalty. due to the time from the judges, and officers of all sorts. it is cheaper to keep them alive and in jail. the issue with keeping them alive though, is overcrowding in prisons. the overcrowding leads to us needing more guards, and more security in the prisions, and more prisions needing to be built.
The death penalty is a very controversial topic. There are those who think that the death penalty should be given to everybody that they think it should be given to. There are those who think that killing somebody for killing somebody(or people) is completely wrong. And there are those who have not decided, or are somewhere in between.
For those who really favor the death penalty, who exactly decides what qualifies for the death penalty?
For those who are totally against it, i think it is understandable why you are in that position. I think that is is a bit hypicritical, dont you think? We (not literally “we”, using it as a general term) are KILLING people for killing others…it somewhat just doesnt add up to me..
To those in between, I can also relate to you, because I think that that is where I stand, pretty much. I dont understand how killing that person will help. yes, it ends their life, but i dont think that really PUNISHES them. To punish someone, you would think that they need to be ALIVE to be punished….right? I personally think that it is punishment to leave them in prison, alive. There, they have to live with what they have done every day for as long as they live.
I also noticed that many of you noted about Richard Ramirez, aka The Night Stalker. i recently finished an AMAZING book, called The Night Stalker by Philip Carlo. it has three sections. the first goes through all of the murders. A few quite gory and detailed, i might add. but thats necessary to get the true essence of who this man really was. The Second section is all about his life growing up, and how he was treated by family and whatnot. The Third section is all about his trial.
A good read to those interested. =D
If anybody has any other book suggestions, could you please let me know? A friend of mine has a few books, that i could get the titles of and post on here as well. thanks!
and wow…i just wrote like a novel..haha i didnt even really realize it until . i just started typing in thoughts…lol i better stop typing…

March 9th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
im not gonna lie… i have found serial killers very fascinating.. i have written a paper on them.. called “Bred to Kill” as whether or not they are created or born that way (nature or nurture).. && i believe they are created.
Im also not gonna lie when i say that i believe i have the mental and emotional capability, way more then other people, to deal with things of this matter, for i have had thoughts, and urges to do some things that those would find horrific… and i know some of you may condemn me for saying this, saying i am psycho and i need help, but really, i am not gonna do anything, they are just thoughts, that many people have.. those of which people say “im gonna kill her” execpt mine have a ‘little’ more feeling behind it.. i never will tho, so no worries.. just saying that i have cried because the feeling is over whelming..
i am also saying that i can see where they get these feelings from, but i know that it is wrong.. and i am NOT justifying them, because what they did was wrong…
however, i have a question.. is it moraly wrong when one can look at these graphic pictures and be fascinated by these stories? granted that one is yes a little disturbed by the horrific content, but cant help but keep reading on…
and whether this helps or not in answer to my… questioning of help… (?) … i am 18
thank you..

March 14th, 2009 at 9:57 am
Sara,
no, i dont really think that it is morally wrong that one can look at the pictures and be fascinated. i am the same way. these pictures horrify me, and yet it somehow amazes me that there are people like this in the world that will actually do these things…i’m not quite sure what keeps so many of us drawn to keep reading about these sick people, but its something. maybe to an extent, there is a bit of a sickness in each and every one of us?(and no, im not saying that everyone is sick like these people!!)
hm. something to ponder.
March 14th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
Can’t believe I see no mention of the Boston Strangler on this comment page. Read a great book about him. Some people still aren’t sure they caught the right guy. They think he talked his way into women’s homes by posing as a plumber, electrician, or other repairman. Ladies be careful before you swing the door!
March 15th, 2009 at 12:37 am
it’s human nature to be fascinated by things that we don’t understand. It’s a foundation of our desire for education.
A couple of other things:
it’s worth noting that a lot of “evil” people although undoubtedly despicable are highly dramatised, either by the media or by themselves. (e.g henry lee lucas was a typical serial killer fantasist – he claims to have killed more people than evidence has ever verified or officers on the case have ever believed.)
also, like most psychological conditions, psychopathy is highly unlikely to be down to nature OR nurture singularly. Overall, people like these seem to have certain predispositions, genetically and neurologically, which in turn is triggered by environment in a very complex equation. There are lots of statistics that show head injuries prominent in killers, even research into a possible defect of an X chromosome (i can’t remember the details) but the statistics almost level up with abusive parenting / childhood trauma.
On books, brian masters wrote two good ones, one on nielsen (‘killing for company’) and one on jeff dahmer.
On manson, i recommend reading ‘helter skelter’ by vincent bugliosi followed by ‘manson: in his own words: by nuel emmons.
March 19th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Im trying to find the book on Comrade Chikatilo: The Psychopathology of Russia’s Notorious Serial Killer Does anyone have it? I can buy it? Not at any stores out here.
March 22nd, 2009 at 2:27 am
these ppl are like twisted
amazing how most of them got away with more than 10 killings with out getting caught
i wonder wat went through there minds while they did it
kinda makes you wonder what kinda ppl are around you. u never know. ur next door neighbor or even ur elementry school teacher could be a serial killer
March 26th, 2009 at 7:28 am
What about Peter Sutcliffe: The Yorkshire Ripper from what I read about him in the book “The worlds most infamous murderers” He was pretty brutal.
March 27th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
i threw up and had nightmares
March 29th, 2009 at 4:27 pm
I’ve seen members of the ‘Manson’ family mentioned in here, and I think they should fall under a completely different heading…Along with Jim Jones, David Koresh, and others, ‘murder by manipulation’ seems a relatively unexplored corner…Yes, Lynette Frome DID pull the trigger (so to speak), but it was at MANSON’S bidding and under HIS dominion, so I would hold MANSON guilty of the Tate-LaBianca murders…
April 7th, 2009 at 9:40 am

April 22nd, 2009 at 12:57 pm
Each and everyone of them should get the death penalty ASAP..don’t waste one dollar on them..cause they don’t deserve Air nor Water…they all could comment suicide and it would make the world a better place to live…I don’t understand..If they are so broken in mind,,why don’t they comment suicide? Cause they are too busy getting off on evil acts…power trips…think they are above man kind…above the law…above the commandments…when in all…they are just nasty snakes w/legs/arms…their end is near…anywho..Only GOD knows when…
May 4th, 2009 at 8:40 am

Why are some of you guys dissing on serial killers????? I think they are just as equal and need as much respect and honor as the rest of us
June 5th, 2009 at 12:19 am
ed gein should have been on the list.
June 9th, 2009 at 7:03 am
People are retarded for saying Ed Gein or Charles Manson should be put on this list – THEY ARE NOT SERIAL KILLERS. The title and topic of this is “top ten evil SERIAL KILLERS”. People are recommending people that aren’t even serial killers. Not trying to be rude but PLEASE look up the definition of a serial killer or the description of someone before you say something ignorant. Gein only killed two people and Manson didn’t kill anyone. I never heard of the first guy until I came on here but I study criminals for a living and I must admit Albert Fish, Richard Chase, and Jeffrey Dahmer are by FAR the most disgusting. Most serial killers are involved in the rape and the necrophiliac ism, disembowelment but the things Fish, Chase, and Dahmer did. My God. Those were the hardest to study for me. And the letters written by Fish. Disgusting. Inhuman. It’s a sick, sad, world.
June 9th, 2009 at 7:16 am
But ya to all the people saying Gein is the most disturbing clearly need to wikipedia Albert Fish, Jeffrey Dahmer, and Richard Chase. Gein just dug up graves. His victims were already dead. He only killed two people. He was known for collecting dead things. Everyone on this list did that, too. That’s nothing.
Fish tortured, raped, killed, then had sex with the dead bodies of little kids and then put them in an oven to cook them. Chopped them up into pieces and ate them. You should wikipedia him and read the letter he wrote to the little girl’s mom. He gave every detail of how she was killed. He talked about how she scratched, kicked, bit, and screamed as she was being raped and killed. He talked about how good she tasted.
Richard Chase would buy random pets or catch stray animals and drink their blood and eat them to “prevent Nazis and UFOs”. He’d go into random houses if they were unlocked and pee and shit on people’s belongings. The one family he killed, he killed a pregnant woman, disemboweled her, had sex with her dead body, then took the man, and the other two little kids with him in her car and took the three dead bodies back to his apartment. He dissected them all and drank and bathed in their blood. He dissected the baby and cut out it’s brain and put it in a blender with coca cola and mixed it together then drank it. He ate almost every animal he came in contact with.
Dahmer started decapitated animals when he was little and eating them with steak. He collected roadkill and dissected them in his backyard. He was so good at lying and manipulating police officers, he got away with so much like when they found the 14-year-old drugged up boy butt naked wandering around and bleeding from his rectum, Dahmer got to the scene in time to convince the cops it was his 21-year-old boyfriend. The cops just took them back to Dahmer’s place and the boy was later on killed. They noticed the odor from his apartment but did nothing. If they would have looked him up, they would have seen he was not only on probation but a registered sex offender. They also should have checked his apartment to see all the bodies and body parts on his kitchen table and in the freezer and table!!!
Sorry but Gein’s not creepy at all to me. All he did was keep corpses around. (Dahmer kept the remains but the human parts he ate he claims he ate so they’d always be with him which makes no since he’d eventually poop them out…) All these dudes did that but 100x more and WAYYYYYYYYY worse…
June 9th, 2009 at 10:52 am
I know that the men on this list are by far the most evil. I also know that all of these men we convicted, but what about the Zodiac killer that was never caught who is believed to have killed hundreds. I know that he doesn’t fit the classic mold of a serial killer because he changed his MO throughout his killing spree but 5 still feel that he should be in some kind of list like this.
June 11th, 2009 at 1:52 am
hogs are the best way of desposing of bodies. Take a hammer and crack the skull so the hog smells the blood, it will devour bones and all untracable much like acid but u dont have to keep a barrel around back….
June 11th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
omg this is so disgusting what kind of sick people do this kind of thing eww its just gross. Really interesting tho and i think that the one person i forget her name sorry i do know that she like bathed in young girls blood cause she thought it would make her look younger tho
June 15th, 2009 at 4:17 am
I think most of Ed Gein’s notoriety comes from his association with films, the texas chainsaw massacre etc. They were inspired by him though and not based on any of his crimes.
June 15th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
Why had everyone of them raped the victims (or the dead bodies…)?? I can’t believe that every famous serial killer had sexual motivation. I imagined a top 10 serial killer sb like Hanibal Lecter, silent, precise, kinda genius who kills only for the joy of it and has some xtreme methods to make attention.
But these guys are just a bunch of crappy and crazy sexmaniacs who are living in a freaked reality…
It’s a pity I couldn’t watch the pictures , I was interested in.
June 16th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
Andrei Chikatilo started out his killing because of the fact he had erectile dysfunction and the only thing that got him erect was seeing people suffer. So, basically, the only way he was able to to ejaculate was to torture and kill little kids and watch them suffer to death. His trial actually made me laugh. Like the parts during his trial, he’d randomly start singing. He randomly screamed out to everyone that he was pregnant or on his period – and was being serious. He did the most RANDOM things in the courtroom. Pulling his pants down and stuff…
June 16th, 2009 at 5:19 pm
And by the way, to all the people saying “these people need to be put in a cage… put to death… have this or that done to them” uhhh most of these guys have been dead for YEARS…
June 16th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
maybesteve – I do and always have agreed with you that people are randomly fascinated with Ed Gein just because he’s the “inspiration” of three movies even though he did NONE of that. People are so oblivious and ignorant for not actually looking into what a serial killer is and what these serial killers did. Gein’s not even a serial killer. It just annoys the crap out of me when people don’t understand that all because they saw a fictional movie. And Charles Manson didn’t kill ANYONE. I get very annoyed when people think Gein or Manson are bad. LOL. They clearly have not read anything about any of the guys on this list, for example. Like I said, all Gein did was keep dead things around. Uh ya they all did that but check out what ELSE they did. LOLLLL. Horrible. Disgusting. I would spend the NIGHT with Gein compared to the others. Christ.
June 16th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
@SyReNe (320): Not all serial killers are sexually motivated. The ones that are most ‘famous’ or infamous maybe are the ones that are sexually motivated probably because the idea of derriving sexual pleasure from such an act is so abhorrent, thus we devote more attention to them and how shocking they were. Sexually motivated serial offenders tend to be conditioned into a very warped type of sexuality [eg Henry Lee Lucas was made to watch his mother have sex with various men] or problems with their own sexual inadequacy [as lauravuitton7885 said about Chikatilo] A lot of the cases of rape or seemingly sexual acts upon victims of murder in these circumstances aren’t actually sexual at all, they are just a way of asserting dominance or control over the victim.
@lauravuitton7885 (323): I wouldn’t go as far to say I’d spend the night with Ed Gein but out of all of them probably yeah I would! he certainly wasn’t a serial killer, just a severely mentally and intellectually impaired man who in today’s society I hope would have been institutionalised to some extent before he was allowed to do what he did.
June 16th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
(by the way I’m maybesteve!)
June 17th, 2009 at 3:19 am
i had chills reading through these stories…theses freaks have the devil in them because how can anyone do this for pleasure? they have no emotions they are completley zoned out.poor victims especially children
June 27th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
The chilling experience of sitting in a small interrogation room with one of these subhumans has stayed with me to this day. There is an evil about them you can smell. The single factor that I came away with is that they all considered themselves superior in every way to everybody, not just the cops. I tried to get into the Atlanta Child murders case in my book “Dark Corners,” and even named the real mastermind, a cop, but it fell on deaf ears. I was so close to Wayne Williams I smelled cabbage on his breath.I will do so in my next book, “Septic Angel” a journey into serial killers minds.
June 28th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
i am Proud of being a WOMEN… because all these Sick & Evil serial killers are MEN.It means if we didnt have MEN in this world it would be a safer place we would have more love and peace.
June 28th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
If it weren’t for a man, you wouldn’t be alive.
June 29th, 2009 at 8:30 pm
I just think its just plain sick

July 8th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
It is good to know I am not the only person interested in serial killers profiles. I thought I was crazy there for a while. I am the only one who thinks that Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy were a little different from a lot of the serial killers of the past. They were smart enough to elude capture for a long time. Unfortunaltley I have been desensitized to this type of violence. Thus why my favorite thriller is House of 1000 corpses. Rob zombie really stepped it up a notch. Rape with a knife, satanic rituals ,necrophilia, and looking into the true evil of human beings.
aybe I am crazy.
July 11th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
Jack the ripper……
he was pretty high up in the serial killer list in my mind… although he was not found and s still completely anonymous…..
is’nt rob zombie a director??????
July 17th, 2009 at 3:00 am
I thought they killed much more people in the top ten. and why didn’t you mention any females? there were like 3 or 4 you missed
July 22nd, 2009 at 3:31 pm
you guys are all nubes for writing on a serial killer website
July 24th, 2009 at 1:36 am
first of all dick its noobs and second of all this isnt a serial killer website
July 25th, 2009 at 6:07 am
love to see how different everyones opinoins are. am a bit fascinated by serial killers and all those that are appalled why go on the site. keep up the good work.
July 26th, 2009 at 9:34 pm
I find these stories facinating. Though some animals kill their own kind, we are the only ones who do it for pleasure/for our own gain besides food(though some are cannibals). Of course, I find it sick that people do these things, but I find I can learn things about our humanity from this history. I have been skeptical as to why people kill others in the first place, but i see some of these are due to mental problems. I get chills from these stories. But somehow, I cannot stop reading. I suppose I have a warped personality…
July 28th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
these stories are very interesting…i dont mean it in a sick way, but i cant help but imagine what thety are thinking. its weird to see humans kill for pleasure, yet its also sad, like the men who are halucinating…they honestly cant control themselves and dont have a second thought… idk maybe im just weird myself…. =[
July 29th, 2009 at 12:36 pm
where the hell is peter kurten aka the vampire of dassaldorf . let me tell you about him . when he was a boy his father would come home drunk and beat him and his other siblings . one of which both his father and him commited incest on . when he was around 12 he got a job with the local dog catcher . he took great pleasure in torturing the dog and started to torture and kill pigs, goats , ducks , geese and swans .he would cut the swans heads off and watch the blood spurt out . he then started to kill people . the first attempt was unsuccessfull as he raped and stabbed a young girl in the woods . she was probably to embarresed to report it . the other attempts were more successfull and to cut along story short ( i read all of this in a book about him ) he was imprisoned and charged with the raping and killing of at least 300 people . he was sentenced to have his head cut off on the guilitine . before his execution he said ” i wonder if for a few seconds the head is alive after it has been decapitated and if i can see my own blood squirt out of my neck . that for me would be the ultimate pleasure “. anyone who dosent think that at least deserves on the list is as insane as kurten himself . altough learn more about him and youll probably agree with me that he should be at the 1 spot
July 29th, 2009 at 1:00 pm
also Ed gein is not a serial killer as to be a serial killer you have to kill at least 3 people ed only killed 2 so therefore shouldnt be on the list any way
July 30th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
i have made some errors with peter kurtens story
1. he only killed 9 and attempted to kill 7 . it is unknown how many he sexually assaulted
2. he was proved sane
July 31st, 2009 at 2:18 pm
no john wayne gacy?

August 10th, 2009 at 11:30 pm
the picture links are dead
August 15th, 2009 at 10:54 pm
One critical piece of the proverbial puzzle seems to be missing from everyone’s entries. In regards to serial killers — regardless of their inclusion/exclusion from this list — the vast majority can only be dubbed “serial” killers due to the fact that they were able to committ these violent, deadly acts on a repeated basis. Anyone interested in looking at the backgrounds of serial killers would do well to make note of the incredible number of failures of modern penal/institutional systems. You would be shocked to learn that Edmund Kemper killed his grandparents with a rifle when only 14 years old. Detained until the age of 21, Kemper was released from custody and placed in the care of his mother — a figure in his life that was vastly responsible for his hatred of women — only to become the “Co-Ed Killer” in California. Kemper’s final act involved smashing in his mother’s head with a hammer as she slept, decapitating her, engaging in sexual intercourse with her corpse, tearing out her larynx and shoving it down the garbage disposal. Kemper wasn’t satisfied and called a friend of his mother’s to the house where he ambushed and decapitated her as well. Kemper had been in custody as a youth. He had already killed his grandparents. Because someone along the chain of alphabet soup offices deemed this 6′9″ behemoth was ready to be out in society only 7 years after killing two family members, at least 8 more people had to die. Even Kemper was appalled by the administrative decisions in his case. Kemper is on record as stating that — before returning home and killing his mother — he had toyed with the notion of going on a rampage and killing every single person in his neighborhood in an apparent attempt to stick it to the authorities that had allowed him to roam, and kill, at will. Sorry for the length of this post, but Kemper is only one example of the system missing the red flags and dropping the ball. In many cases, they were only able to BECOME “serial” killers because we AFFORDED them the opportunity. Hopefully, if anyone uses this site as a research source because they are going for degrees in CJ & Human Services/Psych, you will make note of the fact that when dealing with institutionalized individuals it is best to err on the side of caution. Develop your sixth sense, trust your gut, and keep a weather eye out for the red flags.
Good list, but I think Kemper rounds it out @ #10. Standing at 6′9″ tall, and weighing in over 300lbs., he decapitated and defiled his victims while cutting out pieces of their flesh and cooking it into his macaroni casserole. Very disturbed individual.
August 15th, 2009 at 11:12 pm
Speaking of recognizing “red flags”, someone please find out who “Dboy” is. Post #317 is pretty random. Or, maybe, some people just watched Hannibal one too many times.
Sites like this are great research tools that work towards opening dialogue between opposing points of view for the benefit of teaching us all to look at things from the perspective of others. Be serious people — save the random rants for teenage chat rooms.
August 17th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
LOTS of sick people in the world. Well, some of them are just born defective; others are created by society (like those stinking, lying policemen that print “To Protect And Serve” on their police units when it SHOULD read, “To Protect and SERVE OURSELVES”. Like I said, a LOT of the sick people in the world are created by society. Sad, but true.
August 17th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
) <<–Insert (above)after OURSELVES".
August 19th, 2009 at 2:29 pm
Where’s Vlad the Impaler? he killed upwards of 80,000 people by use of impalation on wooden poles. He watched all of them writhe and die. He’s also where Bram Stoker got the idea of Dracula from.
August 19th, 2009 at 2:33 pm
@dboy (317): Just because Criminal Minds says so, does not mean so. It may be the most efficient way, but not the best way. The best way in my mind is to use yet another technique from Criminal Minds and feed the bodies to the people searching for the bodies while you pretend to volunteer to be a chef for the search camp. It’s a very nice way.
August 27th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
Yorkshire Ripper
(So called after Jack the Ripper) A ‘normal’ truck driver with a hatred for prostitutes, went about attacking and violating them with a hammer, was humiliated by his own mothers daliances as a prostitiute herself, eventually gave him a complex about prostitutes which he could only satisfy in one way.
Terrified pretty much most of northern England during the late 70’s and evaded the police for what seemed like forever with mostly luck and arcaic policing methods.
9See also Ian Brady or Myra Hindley) another infamous Yorkshire couple
August 27th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
Stick to the point on these stories and communications otherwise RANTS become boring for everyone and a useless waste of time.
More interesting comments/ideas/stories/people and suggested links to websites might be good.
Lets not descend to abuse we all have our own ideas about how crazy these people are, but RANTING should be saved for a top 10 of people giving vent to their own frustrations, you make yourselves sound like these guys yourselves
NOT helpful!
September 14th, 2009 at 5:00 am
Oh man!
this is an awesome list, i learned of 3 new serial killers! =]
but the best part was that you included my favorite serial killer ALBERT FISH! (yeah i said favorite serial killer)
anyway hopefully in the near future another serial killer will be on that list…i don’t remember his name but he was a BEAST! He would kill his victims by chewing through their necks and his partner would have sex with the dead body. if you can figure out who that is, that would be awesome! However if i find out before you, i’ll let you know who it is.
September 14th, 2009 at 9:09 am
i think you need to add more serial killers to your list and more facts. although i do love your website its awesome i have a fasination with serial killers.
September 15th, 2009 at 6:18 pm

October 4th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
Holy shit! there are way to many serial killers, and deranged people!I wonder how many commenting now are soon to be……
Fuck You guys are all FREAKIN AWESOME! P.s Im trying to write a massive book on every semi known serial killer out there, so info could really help, were planing on getting this published by July 2011. Please email me at jobforakitean@hotmail.com if you would like to be a part of this! and hands down Ed Gein
October 13th, 2009 at 6:15 am
I think you have to murder more than 3 people to be classed as a serial killer so Ed Gein would not be one i dont think. Anyway good list. Richard Ramirez? Should have been up for sure…Hx
October 20th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
I fully expected to see Vlad the Impaler and Elizabeth Bathory here
October 20th, 2009 at 3:57 pm

October 28th, 2009 at 7:20 am
tazzie2mazzie you are turly deranged if you think there should be more killers out there and i agree with you because of all men most killers are men but their are female serial killers out there but it’s just very rare because there’s that whole stereotype women being more compasionate and such and such
October 31st, 2009 at 9:14 pm
i think all of these serial killers are sad and i really feel bad for each and everyone of them they are just grost nasty and terrifying to me
November 1st, 2009 at 11:37 pm
lizzie borden is definatly not a serial killer, not only was she not guilty whoever is had a good reason for it. the father terrorized them to the point her sister was socially inept, her mother sat by and let this happen to them it is a poplar belief that lizzy’s sister was the one who commited the murders.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:05 pm
“Evil Serial Killers” As opposed to the good serial killers?
November 14th, 2009 at 9:15 am
How could someone do somthing like this it is horrible. I would never be able to murder someone. Think of us as one big family it is like me killing my mother or litle sister. To kill someone you have to have the guts but i know i dont.
November 19th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
WOW!!! have to give you props on this…I’m taking a psychology class at Texas A&M University and I’m having to write a 20 page essay on the mind of a serial killer and what makes them kill. Got so much great info here. Thanks!

I am fascinated by the criminal mind. I would like to be a criminal lawyer and I therefore find stories on criminals quite fascinating. Some of them are out of this world. Very hard to fathom what goes on in their minds.

Why isn’t George Bush up here together with many other world “leaders”, terrorists and corporate managers of multi-nationals. Their bodycounts are usually much higher.

This article was good. It was descriptive and organized. But one thing though. I was expecting to see an American killer from the 70’s.
I believe his real name is Thomas Hewitt, aka “Leatherface”, if you still don’t know who I am talking about, in simple terms “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Guy”.
Now I think Leatherface should have been mentioned in here, because The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of the if not the most shocking and gruesome strings of murder reigns in history. The events shocked all of America and literally thousands of pieces of evidence linked to the murders have been found and confiscated over the years taken to investigate these crimes. Also, there should have been mention of The Hewitt family. They partook in murder, torture, cannibalism, necrophilia. One of the nations most shocking crime sprees not being mentioned. That’s a damn shame.

Lydia Trueblood, the Black Widow? Another famous female serial killer not mentioned.

Pedro Lopez should be on that list; he not only murdered 500 young girls after raping them, but he’s free today. O.o
Also, female murderers; Aileen Wuernos; Martha Beck; Myra Hindley; Belle Gunness; Beverly Allit; Dorothea Puente; Amelia Dyer; Marybeth Tinning; Delphine LaLaurie and Nannie Doss.
See? There are LOADS.

You might want to check out Carl Panzram. The most evil man alive. I just read his autobiography. Unbelievable what all he lived through and all the killings, rapes, sodomy he committed. I think you might be intested in him for your list. The book is “Killer – A Journal of Murder”. Unbelievable reading. Scary!!!!

@EVEL JIM (399): Yeah he/they were evil, but he/they were also FICTIONAL!
