It seems that many of the recent lists on Listverse have been quite serious – which is not a bad thing, but sometimes we all need to take a break and look at something fun. So, I have scoured the Internet and put together a list of 15 very funny examples of graffiti that is either aimed at geeks, or by geeks. This is definitely not your typical graffiti. Enjoy – oh, and be sure to point us to other similar examples in the comments. Click the images for a larger view.

Mad props to the genius who conceived the “Pixel-Link” one. BTW great list altogether.
May 20th, 2009 at 1:42 am
nice list, it really made me laugh
May 20th, 2009 at 1:44 am
The Zelda and the stormtrooper were the best
May 20th, 2009 at 1:56 am
Goonies never say die… so true… They really don’t
May 20th, 2009 at 1:58 am
My favorite is 4 – though I wish I had thought of it first!
May 20th, 2009 at 2:06 am
OMFG where is “all your base are”????!?!??!?! im outraged I expected this to be #1
May 20th, 2009 at 2:17 am
What does mean? I unfortunately don’t speak computer. Can someone explain, please?
Also, I enjoyed the pixelated Link… I’m a 21 year old girl who has never played video games. I have no idea how I know who Link is. Whatever. I’m proud to be a little bit geek.
Great list, though. I enjoyed it.
May 20th, 2009 at 2:21 am
maximuz04: I added one item as a bonus especially for you
May 20th, 2009 at 2:22 am
hahahahahahaha awesome… man this is probably the nerdiest graffiti I still see around, thanks jamie
May 20th, 2009 at 2:24 am
Hot salsa list amigo!!! keep up the trabajo!
May 20th, 2009 at 2:32 am
Dont really think the list is that cool… except for #13, cos its painted brick by brick to give the 8bit impression!
May 20th, 2009 at 2:35 am
its cool, i like it, more now with the “all your base are…” tid bit.
May 20th, 2009 at 2:35 am
Nice.
This, of all lists, ought to be able to avoid the influx of hostility that’s seemed to have engulfed LV lately.
If *this* list ends up with vitriolic debate, all hope is lost.
May 20th, 2009 at 2:42 am
nice list!!!
love number 13.cool effect!!
May 20th, 2009 at 2:46 am
interesting, I havent commented in a while… havent been fond of most lately but the hypocracy ones were great
May 20th, 2009 at 2:50 am
calm_incense: I completely agree with you
May 20th, 2009 at 2:55 am
Does anyone else now have the Legend of Zelda themesong rattling through their brain, now?
And I’ll come back to check out Item 3’s image when it has finished downloading. lol
May 20th, 2009 at 3:07 am
In my town at my old school there was the “all your base belong to us” graffiti about 20 metres long. Its something to do with a game translation from japan or like that. Not fully sure anyone know where its from???
May 20th, 2009 at 3:10 am
hey mr jfrater, uhm i’m jus wonderin if dis site is affiliated with oddee.com? jus askin. anyway, nc list again.
May 20th, 2009 at 3:22 am
yuff: no – we aren’t at all – though I did just write to them to ask them to stop posting mixups of our lists on their site which they are doing a lot at the moment.
May 20th, 2009 at 3:34 am
If I don’t understand these, does it mean I’m not a geek?
If I first thought the topic was “Greek Graffiti”, does it mean I can’t read properly?

This iz pozibly the wurst lyst Iv evr scene. I dont unnerstan eny won of themz–
I’m guessing I’ll never be a true Geek. I wish he would have put a translation under each entry.
May 20th, 2009 at 4:38 am
I only *get* a couple of these (the more obvious ones). Phew! I’m not a geek
May 20th, 2009 at 4:40 am
Heheh, chuckles! Glad you put up an “all your base” one, nice call maximuz.
I saw one once of a demolished building in between two left intact and someone had put up a sign saying “404 error: building not found”. That gave me geeky giggles.
Oh here it is…it’s not quite graffiti but it’s definitely nerdtastic.
http://www.aboutcolonblank.com/2009/05/11/404-building-not-found/
May 20th, 2009 at 4:43 am
ALL UR BASE ARE BELONG TO US……ZERO WING FTW!!!
May 20th, 2009 at 4:55 am
jfrater: yeah i’ve seen some of the items on their list are here
May 20th, 2009 at 5:04 am
I understood about 3/4 of these, so I guess I’m a 3/4 geek.
Astraya, I thought the same thing at first!
May 20th, 2009 at 5:11 am
I’m in with the Greeks too. I was expecting Maximus waters down his wine or somesuch.
Funny list.
May 20th, 2009 at 6:12 am
number 8 made me spill crumbs from my breakfast cake. lol.
May 20th, 2009 at 6:13 am
Great list this morning! My favorite is the stormtrooper. Gotta be a real geek if you want that one on a t-shirt….and I do!
May 20th, 2009 at 6:16 am
i wish there was an explanation to go with a few of these. most of them i understand, but the coding ones.. there’s no way i’m going to know what that means. and people who don’t have geeky friends will probably only understand a couple of them. explanations may seem very.. dumb to a lot of people, but to others, they would be a way to get in on the joke.
May 20th, 2009 at 6:16 am
Romani ite domum!
May 20th, 2009 at 6:19 am
Breakfast cake? ooh la la! I had tea and toast!
May 20th, 2009 at 6:35 am
Cool list.
Got 14 out of 16. Guess I passed the geek test!
May 20th, 2009 at 7:11 am
Some of these look to be photoshopped. I understand most of them, simply because I’m married to the geekist geek of them all!!!
I love my geek!!!
May 20th, 2009 at 7:18 am
34.oouchan: Gotta love IT! Had to do a double take, like Mom424 I also thought Greek…oh well had’nt had my second cup of java…hey that might be a cool list…Ancient Graffiti…
May 20th, 2009 at 7:54 am
13 FTW!
May 20th, 2009 at 8:03 am
I lOVED this list. I agree with calm_incense, it’s nice to have a list that won’t attract heated debates.
I would love to come across these waiting for a bus or something. It would make my day…
May 20th, 2009 at 8:08 am
lol kir- someone brought in a bunt cake and hazlenut coffee and we had ourselves a little work breakfast party. It was lovely.
May 20th, 2009 at 8:27 am
I like the Stormtrooper one. I have a t-shirt with that almost exact thing on it.
May 20th, 2009 at 8:29 am
44. illegal_immigrant: I would love that t-shirt! (I do have one with Darth Vader on it, though
)
May 20th, 2009 at 8:35 am
JFrater kind of beat me to it, but I was going to say that astray could declare “this geek is all Greek to me”.
May 20th, 2009 at 8:38 am
Wonderfully funny list! I love it.
It reminds me of my first, and one of my only, pieces of graffiti. I was about 10 or 11, and in the middle of a long High Mass I needed to go to the bathroom. My mum kept saying “no”, until I was absolutely desperate. When I got to the bathroom (the lavatory, in parochial school terms), I was both in urgent need and really angry. As I sat on the pot I used my little pocket knife…I know, I know, what girl carries a pocket knife?…to scratch into the paint on the wall, “Tyrannosaurus Rex died for our sins”.
May 20th, 2009 at 8:49 am
Is this a thread from Something Awful or what?
May 20th, 2009 at 8:55 am
haha thought this was greek graffiti at first… excuse my poor eyesight. But loving no. 13! Zelda on bricks seems to work really well.
May 20th, 2009 at 9:05 am
Got 10 out of 16
I liked no. 12 the best
May 20th, 2009 at 9:20 am
I think this is another perfect example of liberal and conservative hypocrisy in the brilliant but terrible USA.
May 20th, 2009 at 9:28 am
51. Dr. FigbrainedPsoiled: Your post belongs not here, but (if even there) on the Excuses People Use to Hate America.
If you meant it as humor, it failed badly.
May 20th, 2009 at 9:32 am

May 20th, 2009 at 9:43 am

May 20th, 2009 at 9:45 am
#53 Has me chuckling in my cubby
May 20th, 2009 at 9:59 am

May 20th, 2009 at 10:19 am
goonies never say die! i love it. i don’t really get many of them though.

May 20th, 2009 at 11:08 am
#51-54: segue syndrome: when you get owned so hard your only comeback is grammar bitching
May 20th, 2009 at 11:43 am
i realy dont get most of these sum 1 plz explain!!!
May 20th, 2009 at 11:58 am
Ah Zero Wing, such a bright shining beacon of localization gone horribly wrong.
May 20th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
These are so funny. It reminds me of the graffiti I scrawled on a bathroom door at my high school. I wrote “John Lock” on the door and then drew an arrow pointing to the lock on it. Smart ass graffiti.
May 20th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
I don’t get any of those graffitys, but I sure like The Goonies!
May 20th, 2009 at 1:00 pm
the only un obvious one i can explain is 2… if your designing a website would be the start of the title of the page and is to stop the title of the page.. there for is saying something along the lines of stop bush
May 20th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
65. syndrome: My dear child, you not only have no idea about what the term “owned” actually means, you haven’t the foggiest clue as to what constitutes sarcasm.
Perhaps someday you’ll grow up and learn these things, but in the meantime, stay out of the adults conversations, please. You’re annoying.
May 20th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
JFrater/Xanthius : Just a suggestion, but could you maybe add explanations and/or references to the pictures for those of us who are not fluent in Geek? The ones I do get are funny, but I’d like to be able to understand the rest. From reading the comments, it seems like I’m not the only one who didn’t understand some of the list items.
May 20th, 2009 at 1:41 pm

May 20th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
JF:
I´m going to second the idea that some sort of explanation should be forthcoming regarding some of these (especially the programming ones… and that one about the base?)…
(#12 made me giggle…
)
May 20th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
Like a few others here I am struggling to get most of these. I am either a thick as 2 short planks or don’t have a sense of humour.
I know I have a sense of humour so by elimenation I must be……
May 20th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
These are the worst geek graffitis ever. They just took nerd phrases and put it on random places. Thats plain stupid. The “all your base” phrase from the game, in a trashcan… so??? what is funny about that shit???? Or the 404 error in the floor, whats the funny thing in that???
Worst list ever
May 20th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
I got all those…does that make me a geek?
May 20th, 2009 at 2:45 pm
Half of these are photoshopped, maybe next time you should do a little research

Tyrannosaurus Rex died for your sins too, even if you don’t see it.
May 20th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
79. lo – I thank Bob on a daily basis that T-Rex took a hit for the team…
It’s not amazingly geeky but someone at my school should be commended for going to every fire evacuation notice and replacing the fire drill instructions with “RUN LIKE FUCK!!!”
May 20th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
I don’t get most of these.
I’m not sure if thats a good thing or not. hehe
May 20th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
Whoa… the new look took me by surprise. Very nice, though.
May 20th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
It’s Listverse, but not as we know it.
Has the site moved to it’s new aerver already?
May 20th, 2009 at 4:43 pm
no comment numbers. Not sure if that’s good or bad?
May 20th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
Looks very nice but without comment numbers it will be a lot harder to respond to individual points from people who post more than once…
May 20th, 2009 at 4:46 pm
yes it’s on WordPress now (Firefox-right click-page info).
Looks like I’m a geek after all!
May 20th, 2009 at 4:53 pm
Thanks scrumpy. Geekiness proves it’s worth once more
May 20th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
Okay – that definitely isn’t our new look
It was a glitch caused by a server failure. I have corrected it. Thankfully when we move to WordPress VIP this sort of thing should STOP!
Oh – and you are right in a way scrumpy – we are using WordPress software but not servers – the move will be to WordPress servers.
May 20th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
Seventina: wow – that comment comes up on every list of images
How could you tell? By the pixels?
May 20th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
Jamie: Okay – that definitely isn’t our new look
OMG that was a fate worse than death.
May 20th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
I liked the way it looked. The comment numbers things was the only flaw. It really wasn’t that bad.
By the way, I was able to get onto wordpress as friednietzsche. That is pretty funny.
May 20th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
88. jfrater: Thank the love of little green apples that it wasn’t the new look. Thank you for fixing the glitch.
91. Nietzsche: *snort*…friednietzsche sounds like a veggie.

So many of these look fake. True geeks would know that. What does number 2 mean? ,bush
The one with Link looks the most fake and its 16 bit, not 8 bit like true geeks appreciate.
May 21st, 2009 at 3:12 am
Ummm, I must not get this kind of thing because I didnt understand any of them…
Kinda lost…
Anyone care to explain?
May 21st, 2009 at 4:06 am
Kir 36: Don’t you mean “Romanus eunt domus”?
Having missed the chance to say “It’s all geek to me”, I’ll have to say “Beware of geeks bearing zits”.
May 21st, 2009 at 4:26 pm
I don’t get most of these. Thank God!
May 21st, 2009 at 5:30 pm

May 22nd, 2009 at 1:06 am
im obviously not geeky enough to understand any of these :S
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:53 am

2. From HTML Programming: Translated “END BUSH!”. Thank God that command passed in real life.
3. From Internet Browser Messages: Translated “Graffiti will load in a few minutes, Maybe!”
4. From the PHP Programming Language: Have been trying to figure it out for the last year but don’t know PHP syntax and no one will tell me.
6. From Windows: The three-key CTRL-ALT-DEL combination shuts down badly behaving Windows. Translated: “Shut Down The World, It’s Gone Haywire … OR maybe just this fence”
7. From SQL: Nobody will tell me what this means either.
8. Takeoff on “I am in your flat looting your goods”
9. From Academia: Takeoff on “I am sad because (Duke Nukem Forever got cancelled OR My GF left me OR …). Funny because PhD students don’t normally go out painting graffiti.
10. Translated: Microsoft Ad Cancelled by the Linux Penguin.
11. Please Explain This.
12. Translated: The US is very much like the Empire from Star Wars.
13. 8-bit Link from old Nintendo Games (Thought it was Zelda at first but it is Link). Funny because of the genuine pixellated effect.
14. Takeoff on the “404 – Webpage Not found” Browser Error Message”
15. Please Explain.
May 25th, 2009 at 5:47 pm
109. Ella: Sorry. I didn’t get the memo that it was my life’s mission to amuse you.

Thank you.
June 7th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
Hahaha.. Nice list. no wonder how they made this.
June 8th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
I… I don’t know why i have just read 123 comments on this. I really don’t, but since I’m down here, what the hell, i just leave a “Nice list =D”
The “All your base” thingy it’s from an old game which was translated from Japanese by (apparently) drunken monkeys on a bad day.
I think i already saw someone posting a link but I’ll post it again:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_your_base_are_belong_to_us
June 12th, 2009 at 9:00 am
I’m totally posting links to this on our website ( http://www.geekachicas.com/ )
That is too hilarious!
June 21st, 2009 at 8:31 pm
For all those who don’t understand, here’s a translation of the ones which are harder to understand:
1. Star Wars dialogue: Han Solo & Leia shortly before he gets cryonized
2. HTML caption to properly end a former statement (in this case Bush)
4. PHP statement echoing (printing) “I’m Drunk” on your computer
5. Klingatron being an internet artists
7. Select * From EMP being a SQL statement meaning “select all entries from table EMP” (abbreviation for employees) often used as example
8. Adaption of an infamous Starcraft incident where a n00b asked about the whereabouts of his opponent, who merely replied “i’m in ur base, killing ur d00ds” – thus whenever adapted, implying a severe lack of expertise of whomever it gets adapted for
9. peer review being the scientific process of other people independently proving the correctness of ones claims – it won’t be accepted unless it passes through peer review
11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eSl3X0brZU
14. 404 – error webpage not found
15. best friends forever game crew = will own your shit

Oh and in school I got put in with the nerdiest computer geeks in the whole school in Information Systems, aka computer Programming taught by a crazy Scottish guy! (no insult intended!)I was the only girl, and I don’t even remember signing up for it! But I am also not a girly girl either.
And I must thank Dom, who if it wasn’t for him, I would have been yelled at a few more times by the tech teacher! And of course to Mr. Adamsom who got me out of it!
Anyway, highlights, if any, were the hilarious graffiti on some of the computer desks. If I had had a camera or a phone I would have taken a few picks on them. But truly hilarious!
Entertaining list!
